Is it possible to transfer photos from my 4th ten nano to my new macboob pro?

I am trying to transfer the photos from my old 4th generation ipod nano to my new MacBook Pro (mavericks). I have been trying to do this for about a year as 2 years ago the laptop which the iPod was synced with had some issues which caused it to be restored as in everything that was ever on the computer was wiped off the face of the earth. This including photos from my childhood. However luckily i had the photos on my nano and thought that i would be able to transfer them back onto my old mac but i had absolutely no idea how to do this. So now i have my MacBook Pro i would really love to try and put the lost photos back onto my new laptop but i am having no luck. So, im asking is it actually possible and if so how? Any help would really be appreciated as it would be lovely to have my family's childhood photos back. Thank you.

Is possible to transfer photos from a macbook pro to an iphone 5 without itunes or an internet connection? I'm a pro photographer and I need to transfer photos from my camera, edit them, copy photos to my iphone and send via 4G network to an editor. I will be in a location without internet access and my old computer itunes wont sync with my new iphone 5. I can't upgrade the computer right now because I need some of the old software.  Thanks.

Some decent suggestions for apps to do this in this thread:

  • Is it possible to transfer photos from a USB drive to ipad man in the apple shop says it can't be done

IS it possible. The guy in the apple shop says it is not possible to transfer photos from a USB drive and photos can only be transferred from a camera.

It CAN work, but there are some caveats.
First I've literally had a 50/50 success rate with drives. Kingston, Sandisk don't tend to work because they have bundled software. Also ones with big LED lights have problems. I've had the best luck with Generic drives. So be prepared to experiment. I experimented with everything from 256 megs to 8 gig and found no consistent brand or size that always worked.
Second, the photos have to follow a very strict naming convention. You need an upper level folder named DCIM. All the photos must have 8 character names. DSC_3455 for example. If your photos are straight from your camera, you should be good to go. If you've edited them, you  need to edit the names as well. Put those photos in the DCIM folder and connect the drive.
If your Pad sees it, it'll open the photos all and thumbnails of the photos. You cannot view more than thumbnails off the drive. To see them bigger, you must import them.
Once you import, pay attention to the dialogue boxes because it'll offer to delete the photos for you.
So it can work, but you need to be ready to twiddle and tweak. If you have a memory card it'll work much easier.

Is it possible to transfer photos from an android to a IPad ?

You would have too look in the Stores for both devices.  Or do a Google search. A quick one brings up this App. Apparently available for both platforms.

  • Possible to transfer photos from a camera to the iPhone without computer?

Is it possible to transfer photos directly from a camera to the iPhone? Does anyone know of a device that will enable transfer or have a suggestion?

Buy an iPad & you can do so with this:

Then suggest Apple add that capability to the iPhone here:

  • Is it possible to transfer photos from the iPad that are not in camera roll but in albums I have created?

Hi there. can someone please tell me there is a way of doing this because I was on the phone to 121 for two hours and they couldn't help in the way I wanted.
I have a customer who took his iPad on holiday and with a cable adapter used it to back up the photos from his campact camera.
Whilst he was out there he took the time to separate all the photos into albums using the standard iPad 'Photos' app. There must be 50 or so albums in there.
So now he wants to get those photos off but keep the organisation the app has allowed him to do but if we plug it up to either his Macbook pro or Windows neither the hundreds of photos or thier albums are nowhere to be seen.
The only way I can find to get them out using Macbook or Windows is to transfer photos back into the camera roll or to share them via the cloud but both ways lose the album organisation.
Obviously if there is no way to do this (which seems bonkers for a modern device) then we shall have to painstakingly do just that. It would be nice not to have to endure the hours of work is all.
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • How do I transfer Notes from my iPhone4s and iPad to my new MacBook Pro?

How do I transfer Notes from my iPhone4s and iPad to my new 13" MacBook Pro with retina display?

    Finally figured it out...
    1) Open mail/compose notes on your macbook...
    2) copy and paste every note from Outlook to a new note in Mail.
    3) Open iTunes. In Info/Advanced tick Notes. This will replace / copy all Notes from Mail to your iPhone...
    4) Voila! Notes are on iPhone...
I must say in spite of all the fabulous advantages of a Macbook and an iPhone, syncing really does suck...
Transferring data from another smartphone to a Mac or an iPhone is tough...
Features like "one way / two way" sync for Phone / computer or allowing us to select which whose, phone or computer, will be considered more important so that you can choose whose data will overwrite the other, are not there in iTunes... This is something which really needs to be there...
    Anyways... problem solved for now...
    ciao...

  • Is it possible to transfer photos from (non-iPhone) camera to iPad?

I need a backup for my Sony point-and-shoot while travelling, but don't want to lug my MBP along just to download photos to it.  Is there any way (without Wi-Fi or internet connection) to connect my camera to the iPad and transfer photos?

There is the camera connection kit (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A?fnode=MTc0MjU4NjE&mco=MjE4ODE2ODk) which comes with an SD card reader and a USB to micro-usb cable for connection to a camera for direct transfer of photos (I have seen some people say that it doesn't work with their camera so I can't guarantee that it will work with yours).
As it's a Sony I assume that it uses sony memory stick and not SD cards ? Some people have been able to use other card readers with the kit, but generally only powered readers work with it (and then not all of them) as the iPad does not provide enough power to the kit for most non-powered ones to work. If the camera has a micro-usb socket then you should be able to use that for direct transfer.

  • Can I transfer music and photos from my 17" PowerBook G4 to a new MacBook Pro?

I am planning to buy a new MacBook Pro in the next couple of weeks. Can I have the "Genius" at the Apple Store transfer my music and pictures from my current PowerBook to the new computer? My current computer is a 17" PowerBook G4, running OS X 10.5.8. Because of the age of my computer and software limitations I have been unable to use iCloud for anything besides my calendar and contacts.

Yes, flash drive would work fine.
If all you care about is music and photos, as you indicated earlier, then you simply need to copy the entire contents of your Music and Pictures folders from the old computer into the Music and Pictures folders on the new computer. A flash drive will work fine as long as it is big enough. If you want to also move over personal files, typically those are in your Documents folder and possibly your Desktop, so don't forgot about those.
If you want to migrate over all your emails, applications, internet and router settings, web browser favorites, bookmarks, preferences, user names and accounts, etc., then you might consider doing the full migration using Setup Assistant upon the very first boot up. Apple will do this for you, for a fee, as will almost any Apple-authorized computer store (also for a fee, but probably for a bit less than Apple would charge). You can actually do this manually, using the external drive or flash drive, and I have done that myself. But you need to know where the files are to do that properly. The Setup Assistant (which is run upon the very first boot up of the new computer) or Migration Assistant (which is run after you have booted into your new computer at least once) make it pretty easy -- the main thing you need to do is hook the computers up with a firewire cable and follow Apple's instructions; or if that is not possible, the next best thing is to make a complete backup of your old computer onto an external drive using Time Machine (or a cloning program like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner) and migrate from the backup.

  • HT1535 how do i transfer photos from iphoto on my imac to my new ipad

I have read and reread the ipad manual and under importing photos and videos -  this is all it says,
"To transfer the photos to your computer, connect iPad to your computer and import the images with a photo application such as iPhoto or Adobe Elements."
There are no explicite instructions on how to get the photos from iPhoto onto my iPad.  There is nothing in iPhoto either.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
