Is it possible to turn off CSS and design text with HTML only?

I'm trying to design text with HTML only ie: Font, Color, Size. The only method I'm aware of is to highlight the text and then go to Insert> Html> Text Objects. That method is tedious and time consuming.
I'm not looking for arguments or reasons as to why I should use CSS, I'm simply looking for a solution to disable CSS and design with HTML. I'm using Dreamweaver CS5.
Thank you,
Paul

Murphy,
Thank you for your response. I checked the preferences as you advised and could not find any option to turn off CSS. I don't understand why there doesn't seem to be a straightforward solution to this, it seems so simple. The reason is that the code will be inputed into an eBay listing and therefore CSS code is not supported.
Any other input for a seemingly simple yet complex solution to this is welcome and appreciated.

  • Is it possible to turn off highlighting and underlining in iBooks on the iPad

I like to read lying down, either in bed or on a sofa.  When lying down it is much more comfortable to hold the iPad with one hand.  I find it quite easy to do so if my thumb is placed inwards over the screen and if the iPad is partially propped up by a cushion.  This does mean that my thumb is placed over some of the text.  This could be ok as I could simply shuffle my thumb around a bit when I reach that part of the text.  The only problem is that whenever I move my thumb the iPad often interprets this movement as user input for selecting text, whereupon the software underlines the text.  Very annoying.
Is it possible to toggle text selection off in iBooks?

I'd like to add my voice to James'.  I've had my ipad less than a year and am loving building my library on it.  BUT!   My greatest annoyance is how frequently an accidental touch of the screen while reading inadvertently ends up underlining a section of text.  It drives me NUTS!!!!  Unlike James, I don't have big hands, so we can't be the only two ipad users in the universe with this complaint.  I looked all through settings, trying to find something that would turn this feature off, and then finally found the answer in this forum (and unfortunately, the answer is no.  Boooo.).  It seems to me it would be a VERY simple fix.  C'mon Apple!!!!

  • Turn off TV and SD box with one button?

My TV's IR sensor is busted so I have no remote capabilities to control the TV.  I am looking for a way to turn off the TV along with my SD box at the same time.  Is this possible?
With my past service (cable) I was able to achieve this by plugging my TV's power into the cable box.  Once I powered off the cable box, my TV shut off.  Basically it killed the power to the TV.
I am looking for a way to do this with my Verizon SD box.
I have plugged my TV into the SD box, tried powering off the SD box, but the TV remains on.  Is there anything I'm missing?  I've gone through the SD box settings menu and cannot find an option.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance.

This is what worked for me using the RC144 5302 / 00B Remote! Hope it helps!
Press and hold the STB key.
While holding the STB key, press OK.
Release both keys. The device Keys will blink twice.
Press 9-7-7. The STB key will blink twice.
One after the other, press each device Key you want the Power Key to control in the order you want them to turn on or off.
Press OK when done. The STB key will blink 3 times to indicate success in programming!

Is it possible to turn off the fluid grid function in dreamweaver during the process of building your site by mistake? It was working fine and simply stopped and I don't see how to correct what is wrong.

There is no specific function that turns FGL on or off.
When you say that it has stopped, do you mean that the handles no longer show?
If that is the case, then I think you may have modified the CSS to such an extent that Dreamweaver no longer recognises it as belonging to FGL.
There are a couple of avenues for you
Redo the site and make sure not to touch the FGL CSS
paste the code here so that we can see what has gone wrong.

This user has found a "hack" to turn off faces.  Several users have reported success with the method.  I can't comfirm the method as I've not used it.  Use at your own risk.

    Start of solution:
I did some digging in the prefs of iPhoto and found out the following. This is how you can disable (turn off) Face detection, without deleting faces found so far (just in case you want to restart processing at another time):
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Open Terminal Application (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
    3. Type the following (exactly as is):
    defaults write com.apple.iPhoto PKFaceDetectionEnabled 0
    (then return)
    4. - Start iPhoto - Faces stops getting on your nerves...
If you ever need to re-enable faces, just do the same again and replace the 0 with 1.

Of course, but It's not a problem with logical inches per se.
    The
logical inch is just another way of looking at what is meant
    by the
screen dpi value. Scaling problems, with different dpi
    settings, has
always been a Windows problem and results from the way that
    the OS
handles scaling. Fonts scale perfectly. Actual windows, and
    other
containers, don't. This is a problem programmers have
    grappled with
since the first Windows OS. Vista is the first OS to try to
    tackle this
    problem.
    >Thus, percentages or ems work best when cross-platform
    compatibility is
    >desired."
And that is because the users screen dpi, and hence logical
    inches, are
totally irrelevant when specifying ems and percentages.
Ems and percentage equate to a number of pixels, not inches.
The sole purpose of screen dpi setting is to convert anything
    sized in
physical inches into a number of screen pixels. That is the
    _only_
purpose of screen dpi. It's a very simple algorithm.
(physical) inches x screen dpi value = number of pixels
How do _you_ think a font sized in points (inches) gets
    translated to a
specific number of pixels on screen. I'd be interested in
    your answer.
For the screen a conversion from physical inches to pixels is
    always
necessary because, as you say, pixels are the unit of screen
    measurement
but they are not just a "standard" measurement, they are the
    only
consistent measurement. It's not the users program that
    creates pixels
on screen but the Operating System. The program requests the
    OS to
create a given font at a given size and the requested size
    _must_ be in
pixels. Windows can't _directly_ create a screen font that's
    specified
in points (inches) because it has no notion of what a
    physical inch is
on screen. It does know what a logical inch is because the a
    logical
inch is defined by the screen dpi value. That's what the
    screen dpi
value is for. If a browser programmer wants to bypass the
    variability of
screen dpi on different computers then they ignore dpi values
    and work
directly in pixels i.e. in ems or percentage. When ems and
    percentages
are specified one is dealing only in pixels.

    set a
    >font-size of 14px than use units that both you and
    Michael Bowers
    >define as "1/72 of a logical inch".
Of course it makes more sense to set font size specifically
    in pixels
because that's the only unit the OS can use to put something
    on screen.
I can't see where you get the idea that either Michael Bowers
    or I have
said that there is a unit "defined as 1/72 of a logical
    inch". Every
Windows program written takes it that there are 72 points to
    a
    _physical_ inch.

    measurement)

You are implying I've said things which I haven't. I have
    never, at any
time, said one should use points or inches in designing web
    pages. You
seem to have missed the point that what I am doing is
    explaining why you
see the results you do on screen when those unit are used.
    Somewhat more
informed than "Points are only for print because I don't know
    what they
mean on screen, so they must be meaningless".
    >As Eric Meyer says on page 110 of "Cascading Style
    Sheets: The
    >Definitive Guide" (2nd Edition), "points can be a very
    difficult
    >measurement to use in document design."
And again, I've never advocated using them in page design. A
    close
reading, however, from page 83 onwards shows that Eric Meyer
    has an
imperfect notion of the meaning of screen dpi. Heresy!! He's
    hardly
alone, which is why I did a web site.
    >
    >That's why I recommend leaving points for use in print
    style sheets.
    >However, if you enjoy making life difficult for yourself
    by using
    >points for onscreen design, you're perfectly free to do
    so.
Once again, I have never advocated that. You are setting up a
    straw man
to knock down. You can do better than that.

  • Can't turn off iCloud and F'd up my Calendar

I have an iPhone with my Work calendar Synced with my work computer (outlook Calendar). Also, I have iMac 27" i5 with my Home calendar (iCal).   This has worked fine and separetly for the last 3years.  My home calenders allow me to organise my life with payments and is very important. My work calendar, well that speaks for it's self.
I install iOS5 on iPhone and Lion on the iMac which unbekownence to me have iCloud syncing on and doing stuff that has totally corupted my iMac Home Calendar.
My home calendar has my work calander mixed in with my home calendar and reminders popup every few minutes that I have already dissmissed.  They won't stop popping up.  The same one over and over and they go back a month or more.
Additionally, when I try to add an event it sometimes puts it in very day instead of a monthly re-ocurring event and then it won't delete the event when I try to fix it.
I've tried to turn off iCloud, and it does all the right things and appears to turn off but then when I go back in it is on again.
The Work Calendar (Windows 7 Office 2010) doesn't show any symptoms and has kept working as it should on my work computer as on the iPhone. Neither appear to be effected
I've tried all the delete files and reinsralls but iCal seems to just get more confused. It renames calendars and is totally out of control to the point of no return.
I can't find any where which shows how to delete iCal and do a fresh install of iCal and not have iCloud sync.   I have searched Google for months and months with no joy.
What I need is to stop iCloud and **** it off permently as it appears to be a problem for how I use my apps.  I do not want to use iCloud for calander or anything just yet.   I need to get my original .ics backup in iCal that I have and working on it's own and with out the cloud or syncing.
    Help anyone ...
P.S.   I have only one profile, Admin.
I've tried another profile and it replicates and operated worse than the Admin account with iCal.
Also I have time machine back to August 2011.  I've tried all the Google fixes and none have worked

    Hmmm!
Sorry for taking so long to get back.  But the thing was none of the instruction where able to get the iCloud turned off. If anything it is for someone who moves between the Local and the iCloud than turnng off iCloud.
I want to turn off iCloud syncing in my System Preference and iCal.  iCal is syncing with iCloud and I do not want that.  My iPhone is syncing with iCloud and I don't want that either. I never enabled these options and had to find out where they were before I could even start trying to turning them off.
My iPads do not I’m unsure why
Is it possible to un-sync and turn off all iCloud activities on my iMac with Lion 10.7.3?
I think I made up a word (Un-Sync) to re-turn back to the original state before the first sync

  • Is it possible to turn off a channel in DAQ?

I am using 4*PXI-6070E to acquire 64 channels simultanously. Is it possible to turn off one or several channels during acquisition? Which function or property node should I use? I have tried using property node "disable" in waveform graph but it seems didn't work. That channel is still running and the data is still here. Can anyone help me plz? THX a lot!

Once a set of channels are configured in a task and being acquired, you cannot reconfigure the task (add/remove channels) without stopping the running task
What you could do is to: Use array functions ( like index array) to create a subset of channels you require, from the set of channels being acquired

  • Is it possible to turn off a spot colour

    Hello
Probably a dumb question but I will ask anyway. Is it possible to turn off a spot colour in CS4. I can effectively do it by creating a spot white and merging the spot colour I want to delete to the spot white using the ink aliasing. However, this leaves a spot colour in the high res pdf at th end of the job. This then causes a problem as we use an online proofing system which then fails the flightcheck as there is a spot colour in the pdf.
    Cheers
    Beeefcake

The spot colour is used so that we can perform a find on any text with a fill of the spot colour and delete it. The spot colour is put in for this purpose when the original artwork is created in the US.
Kathlene - I can't believe I didn't spot that! This would work! We could just convert the swatch to 0% cmyk as you suggest. The majority of the pages in the catalogue are on a white background so the pricing would simply disappear resulting in no spot place when pdf's are made. There are some pages on a coloured background but these are very few and the pricing could be deleted manually.
    Thanks for the help!

Is it possible to turn off the screen when using Time Lapse or Motion Detection modes so as to save power?

    Hi buddy,
I have downloaded the user manual off Camileo S20 and searched a little bit but unfortunately I can find no informations about turning off the screen when using Time Lapse or Motion Detection. It seems that the screen is always on.
But you can connect the AC adaptor while recording movies. So you have always power. :)

  • Is it possible to turn off the Apple dock completely?

I was wondering if it was possible to turn off the Apple dock completely without causing irreparable damage to my system. I am considering using Drag Thing, but when I am using it the functionality seems redundant with the Apple dock, also using both programs in tandem uses up more precious memory. The Drag Thing website links to the following tutorial as a solution:
    http://www.creativemac.com/2003/02_feb/tutorials/dockdead2030225.htm
But it was published a long time ago, and I don't want to do anything rash that would damage my system, I mean I don't dislike the Apple dock enough to do that. Thanks in advance for the consideration and suggestions.

I could only discover an option to hide the dock from within Drag Thing. I am looking to make the dock disappear completely. Drag Thing does not officially support this option, giving this answer in the Q & A section of their website:
"*It is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. Since people often ask how to do it anyway, here's a good tutorial I found on how to kill the Dock by Kevin Schmitt. This may have unforseen side effects however, which is why I've not documented the procedure myself, or added an option for this in DragThing. I keep the Dock hidden off the bottom of the screen on my own Mac.*"
Is the dock so embedded within the Finder's operations that killing it will affect system performance?

Is it possible to turn off the updates that make your iphone need to be activated again? Because you need wifi in order to activate and sometimes I don't have wifi so my iphone becomes unusable untill I get wifi again.

I'm sorry but it says 8.1.2 on my phone when I check for the info about the software.
The issue I have is that on random moments it asks me to activate my phone ( I think after an update or some kind ) but sometimes I have no access to wifi to activate it so I was wondering if I could make that stop?
