Is it possible to uninstall maverick

Since I migrated from Lion to Maverick my computer is much slower. I want to uninstall it. Is there any risk?

First erase the disk drive, then install an earlier version of OS X using an installer for the earlier version. Or you can restore a separate backup of an earlier version. Or you can figure out why your computer is running slower. For example:
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.5 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Update (Combo).
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.5 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Update (Combo).

If you were wise you would consider other options just besides getting rid of Leopard and throwing it away. First, you could wait until Apple releases OS 10.5.1, then install and update to it. This might help take care of some problems. You could dual boot OS 10.4.10 and 10.5 as long as you have the OS 10.4 full install Disk and the OS 10.5 full install disk. I personally will wait until at least Christmas time before I install Leopard. New OS's are always full of bugs. On the Microsoft side, I've read where Windows Vista is still having major problems and is taking a long time to become widely used. These problems take time to fix. When Windows XP came out nobody would upgrade to it because of all it's bugs, now Windows XP is considered the standard on PCs. Mac OS 10.4 was also full of bugs at first, but now we talk about how rock solid it is. Simply give Apple time to fix these problems.

  • Can I uninstall Maverick.  Too slow

I have a new iMac which had Mountain Lion installed.  Since updating to Maverick, its so slow.   Can I uninstall Maverick back to Mountain Lion, and how please would I do this - step by step - appreciate your help.

You need a full TimeMachine backup:
See:  OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version
But it would probably better to find out what is causing the slowness.
Only, you would need to tell us more about your installition and what is not working properly.

  • How to uninstall maverick

how do i uninstall mavericks on G5

Totally agree.  I work around the clock and had a PhD review and (as a full time worker) film footage to finish for the weekend i.e. 48 hours after the 'Update' landed.
Update appears, let it run in the background, no clue that necessary programs will cease working,  bibliographies and references with crash and disappear, iMovie UI will change so dramatically you won't know what you're doing until you've had time to re-learn it.
Absolute car crash.  As for all the 'just rewind' well may some of us don't expect our update to basically wipe out perfectly happy OS and accumalited programs, jobs in progress WITHOUT A BIG FAT WARNING SCREEN and neither do we have time or energy for uninstalling updates.
Come one Apple, are you for real?  You are rapidly losing shed loads of punters to Microsoft.  Yup, thats how bad things are getting out here.

  • Uninstall Mavericks on my iMac 2007

Can I uninstall Mavericks upgrade? Due to I can no longer use iMovie without buying a new iMac. Which is not in my budget at this time. iMovie worked great before I upgraded to mavericks.

Boot from a Snow Leopard installer disc, erase the hard drive, then reinstall Snow Leopard.
Your profile shows you are using Mountain Lion, not Mavericks.

  • Possible to uninstall leopard

    Hello,
is it possible to uninstall leopard and use it on another computer?
    thnx
    dave

"Uninstalling Leopard" is called "Re-installing Tiger."
And yes, you can install it on another computer. The license agreement allows for install on one machine at a time.

  • I can't uninstall Maverick no one has posted a step by step

No one is giving a step by step on how to uninstall mavericks? I have my snow leopard disk. Can anyone help

Because the Step by Step depends on what you will install in place of Mavericks.
    Basically:
Boot from the install media for your prior version.
    Re-partition the hard drive.
    Install OS X.

It won't run "on" Mountain Lion as it is a new OS. It will replace Mountain Lion. While pricing hasn't been announced, I doubt it will be free.

  • How do I uninstall Mavericks Server?

Okay, I wasn't really using my MacBook Pro as a server in the past, but it appears that Apple has added a "helpful" feature to Mavericks Server where, according to "pmset -g",  Server is perpetually preventing the computer from sleeping: "sleep prevented by com.apple serve"
I'm not really using Server on my Mac anymore, so how do I uninstall it under Mavericks? I've searched Apple Support and the rest of the web, and can see plenty of advice out there for Lion and Mountain Lion, but none for Mavericks yet, so I'm wondering if someone has already done this...

I was talking about uninstalling Mavericks Server, not Mavericks. The server is just one app that happens to install a number of other services. But anyway, here's my advice:
If you have a computer that Apple launched on or after Mavericks launched, then you cannot uninstall Mavericks.
If you have an older computer, then the best way to get the old OS back is to restore a backup from before you installed Mavericks. Lacking that, if you made an install DVD of the old OS before running the installer (which is always a good idea), then you can boot that DVD, wipe your drive, and install the older OS. You will lose all your data by wiping the drive, so make a backup of important data first.
If you don't have a backup, or you don't have an older OS install DVD, then consider this to be a learning experience. If Mavericks broke your app, then you'll have to wait for a newer version to come along.

  • I have an iMac mid-2010 running Snow Leopard. Is it possible to install Mavericks and Windows 8 on separate partitions while keeping Snow Leopard?

I have an iMac mid-2010 running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Is it possible to install Mavericks and Windows 8 on separate partitions while keeping Snow Leopard? If so, can you describe the steps?

That should not be a problem as long as there is enough room on each partition for each OS.
    You would:
Use Disk Utility to partition your HD
Download the Mavericks installer and install it on one of the open partitions (when you run the installer from your 10.6.8 partition, it will ask you where you want to put Mavericks, and you will specify one of the open partitions).
Use Boot Camp to install Windows on another of the open partitions. Mac Basics: Using Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp

MichelPM is correct however wouldn't you rather trouble shoot the issue to see if you can get your performance back?

You did not due any due dilligence to investigate if your legacy apps would run, you should upgrade your apps. However if you feel you have to downgrade back to SL then click
