  • Unlock Disabled iPad without iTunes

Hey, i want to unlock my disabled iPad without using iTunes. I gave the iPad to my friend and he tapped in the wrong passcode. Now, he is not able to use it as it says that iPad is disabled. How can I unlock it without using iTunes, as it was setup using my laptop for the first time. He can't send the iPad to me. How to resolve this issue?

this feature is just well... PLAIN CRAZY!!!
I went on a 3 hour journey on rough roads with my bluetooth keyboard in the back and the ipad.  It appears that the bluetooth keyboard was hitting the ipad for the security code that the ipad was locked.  I totally wasted my intention to go somewhere quiet and read and write on the ipad.  Seriously pi$$d with Apple putting this into the coding i returned specially to try and contact Apple and unlock the system.  FOUR chat sessions later going to the next day as well it was settled that i had to restore my computer as i am travelling and have no access to another persons computer given that i am dependent on my own computer to RESTOREthe ipad for which a RESTORATION could not be successfully performed...
"oh thats weird .. can you try it on another computer" was my suggested fix.  SORRY ummm no im travelling overseas!! .. so it makes me wonder whether to travel with another apple product again as if something happens or you discover some crazy feature that puts you into a compromised position when out on the road ...sorry you got no help.

  • How can I unlock a disabled ipad if it has NEVER been synced?

    Hi
read everything I found but there is no option for unlocking a disabled ipad if it has never been synced with any pc.  Any suggestions?  its my kids ipad and he is driving me nuts !!!! help !

    Hello Allan,
I did the reset, the pc scrren said it would take about a half hour reseting which is ok. But midway through the process it apparently disconnected itself from the Ipad and the ipad icon disappeared from the itunes screen.  Will try process again see if it works.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately... Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...

Using a computer, other than the one you have regularily been Syncing and Backing up to, was the begining of your issue.

  • HT4113 What is the step by step process to unlock my disabled ipad?

What is the step by step process to unlock my disabled ipad?

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Is it possible to deauthorize or unsync an iPad without wiping it and starting over?

Is it possible to deauthorize or unsync an iPad without wiping it and starting over?  My ipad3 and my ex's ipad2 are both synced with my computer.  I have to sign in under his id to update the apps purchased thru his ipad/id (and vice versa) and we'd like to be rid of the connection.  My apps are on his ipad and his are on mine.  We synced both through my computer.  Is there any way to separate the two?

Once I deauthorize his device from my computer, can he still use the apps under my ID on his ipad?
I am not familiar with how you would deauthorize his device from your computer, aside from wiping his iPad and not allowing him further access to your account or your content. If he knows your password you need to change it.
Also, does deleting his apps from my ipad and computer affect the apps from his ID on his ipad? No, his content should be fine on his iPad.

  • Can you wipe a mac and still sync iPad without wiping

I plan on making a copy of the iTunes folder in the music folder, wiping the mac's hard drive, reinstall Mountain Lion, and copy the iTunes Library folder back. WIll i still be able to sync my iPad without wiping it? Has anyone tried this before?

I want an iPhone 3GS wrote:
even if i copy the itunes folder? . and i want to improve performance
If you are going to restore the OS and all data from your Time Machine backup then the iOS device will not see the Mac as a new machine. But if you do an erase and install of the OS then restore just the data, the iOS device will see the computer as a new one.
I agree with Allan that the "nuclear option" is not always the best option, but since you have Time Machine backups you should be fine. Just do one last backup before you do anything. Be sure and set up the user credentials for the new OS the same as you have now to make restoring your data easier.

  • Reset disabled iPad without iTunes

    Well, I'm in trouble now.
I have an iPad that says "iPad Disabled Connect to iTunes" and it won't connect to anything but the computer it was set up with.
My problem now is that computer has since been reformatted and reinstalled a few times, so the iPad won't recognize it!
So I need to reset it without iTunes, or with iTunes on a "different" computer.
    Help?

  • Is it possible to import music into iPad without using iTunes?

Do any of of you know whether or not it is possible to import music into iPad, like when you can import pictures, without the use of iTunes ( I don't have a computer)? I have music on my phone and on USB flash drives. Thnx

If you are in America then you can download your past iTunes music purchases via the store (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519). But no, you can't import from flash drives (the camera connection kit can only import photos and videos) or from an iPhone.
