  • Is it possible to unlock my iPhone from Sprint?

I want to switch my carrier from Sprint.

You will have to negotiate with Sprint, only a carrier can unlock a carrier-locked iPhone.  Each has their own policies so contact Sprint and see what they are willing to do for unlocking.

  • Is it possible to unlock my iphone 3G?

    Hello,
I'm sorry in advance if I haven't found already existing topic for my problem. Now the story goes that I purchased second hand iPhone 3G via my friend who lives in UK. He found it for me on some local website or forum of some kind. When I received this iPhone I noticed that it's locked, I also found out that it's locked to O2 UK. I called O2 customer service and asked if they could release iPhone for me so it could work with all carriers, but they told me there that it is impossible if I'm not original owner of this device. Basicly I need to ask the seller to request release for me, but me and my friend don't know seller and haven't any contact with him whatsoever, so it's impossible to ask him to do that.
Question is that what I'm supposed to do now? I mean that iPhone does not work with my local carrier sim-card and O2 refuses to release it for me without original owner and phone number. Is there any chanse that maybe Apple could release it for me? Is there any other ways besides hacking (that is the thing I don't want to do)? Please help me out.
Thank you for any help or advice.

Thank you guys. Then I guess I'll just have to fight my way through to get it released. It's quite furstrating when try to explain to O2 that it is impossible to get in contact with previous owner. When I ask that is my only option is to throw away totally good iPhon they say "no you are still able to unlock it if you can contact previous owner" it feels like talking to a wall!
Anyway I'll keep trying and if someone still knows something new, thanks for posting advices in advance.

Call AT&T. Since you are not under contract they should be able to give you an unlock code.

  • HT1937 Is it possible to unlock your iPhone to use a different carrier?

I have a Sprint iPhone but I'd like to put my AT&T SIM in it.

You can not use a Sprint iPhone (4S or 5) on any U.S. carrier other than Sprint. If you want to use AT&T, you will need to buy a new phone.

  • How do I unlock an iPhone 4 without performing a backup?

AT&T has given me permission to unlock an iPhone 4 and has provided these steps:
Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your AT&T Mobile device.
We have reviewed your request and confirmed that the device may be unlocked.
Please allow 24 hours upon receipt of this notification to complete the unlock process.
    To complete the unlock, simply
    1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have Internet connectivity.
    2. Ensure a SIM card is inserted into your iPhone.
    3. Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
    4. Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes. For information on backup and restore, please visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.
    5. After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked.
My issue is that I don't want the data, apps, settings, etc. of the previous user of the iPhone 4, so I don't want to perform a backup. However, in step 4 it states I have to backup and restore the iPhone and only after restoring it will the iPhone be unlocked. Is it possible to unlock the iPhone by just performing the restore without having first done a backup, or is the backup a crucial part of the process to unlock the iPhone?
    Thanks for your assistance!

The iPhone 3G backup and iPhone 4 backup (if you create one) would be saved using different file names.  To see both, you could open Preferences from iTunes' menu on your computer, then select the "Devices" tab.
You ask if you still have to back up the iPhone 4 first.  If you can erase it first, then its backup would contain virtually nothing.  Whether you can erase it or not, its contents would be irrelevant.  See if the process allows you not to back it up.  If it does, great.  If not, no harm would be done.  By the way, you can delete this useless iPhone 4 backup from the same tab in iTunes Preferences.

  • Unlocking the iPhone 5

    Hi All,
Quite short sweet and simple, is it possible to unlock the iPhone 5?
My friend looking to purchase one of another friend, but apparently he says the iPhone is unable to be unlocked?
I used to change providers a fair few times with my old iPhone 4, via iTunes. I currently have the iPhone 5 but i don't really want to wipe my phone just to prove my theory to a friend; if anyone has any information that'd be great!
    Thanks,
    James

The process is carried out through the carrier
You only use iTunes to reset up the iPhone firmware to allow any sim to work
once the Carrier has agreed, processed the request , advised Apple to remove the iPhone
    from the locked database
    then you plug into iTunes
    see here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5014
Any attempt to unlock by any other means will void the warranty and that device
will not be touched by Apple for anyfurther  service or help

  • Is it possible for Apple to unlock my iPhone?

My iPhone apparently has a SimLock for Vodafone Germany. My two years of contracet with Vodafone Germany (required minimum time to be able to get it unlocked from Vodafone) are over.
Now my problem is as I had my iPhone swaped at the AppleStore so Vodafone can not unlock my iPhone because it is not an IMEI that they have in their systhem. Apple tells me that I have to talk to Vodafone. Now what Vodafone suggested is that they send me a certificat saying that I can have my iPhone unlocked and that I go do it at the AppleStore if that is possible. So that is actually my question: is it possible for me to get y iPhone unlocked at the AppleStore with the certificat from Vodafone?
    Thanks for any help
And one other thing... I was on an Apple site (I can not find it anymore) where I was in contact with an Apple support member via Chat. Does anyone know how to get to that site?
    Thanks again

Apple cannot unlock your iPhone via any "certificate". The only way it works is that the carrier generates an electronic unlock authorization which goes though Apple's automated process to get sent to iTunes on your computer. Sorry, but Vodaphone will have to figure out the IMEI issue on their end, and if they can't, then you probably will not be able to get your iPhone unlocked.
    Regards.

A no-contract sales price does not mean unlocked.
Apple is now selling an officially unlocked iPhone in the U.S. which has nothing whatsoever to do with AT&T unlocking iPhones. It is up to the carrier and the carrier only to officially unlock an iPhone that was sold as carrier locked with the carrier - in this case sold as carrier locked with AT&T. This may change one day, but at the present time AT&T does not unlock an iPhone for any reason or under any circumstances.
