Is it possible to upgrade graphics card in my S410?

I've bought a IdeaPad S410, equipeed with i5-4210U 1.70 GHz , Intel HD Graphics (Intergrated) and Radeon R5 M230. I would like to know if it's possible to upgrade my R5 M230 to a better Graphics card, perhaps R7 M260?
Any reply is greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance..

hi MizARe3,
Looking at the S410 hardware layout (page 59-60 of the hardware maintenance manual), the CPU and the discrete Radeon R5 M230 are both integrated to the motherboard, thus, you can't separately upgrade the discrete GPU.

  • Satellite A100-207: Is it possible to upgrade graphic card for gaming

    Hi
I am looking to buy the Toshiba A100-207 laptop and it comes with 128MB of shared graphics.
I would like to play games and I was wondering if I could upgrade the graphics (such as a nvidia card that I could buy and put in) or are the graphics fixed?
I would just like to know if I am able to upgrade?
    Thankyou

    Hi
In my opinion the graphic card and/or the CPU is not soldered on the new notebook generation. The parts should be simply plugged on the board.
But this does not change the upgrade situation.
Possibly you will be able to remove the graphic card but Im sure you will get compatibility problems with other hardware.
The stronger graphic card produces more warmness and the temperature would increases automatically to a higher level. This would lead to the overheating issue and the notebook would either shut down or not starts.
The desktop PC technology is simply different as on the notebooks. You can also not compare the different graphic cards. Notebook manufactures uses only the graphic card chips which dont supports an own cooling module.
Simply said its not possible to upgrade the graphic card.

  • Satellite A30-921: Is it possible to upgrade graphics card?

Is it possible to upgrade my graphics card? I have a Satellite A30-921 which comes with Mobile Radeon 9000 card.
Just wondering if it's possible to upgrade my graphics card

    Hi Daniel,
The graphics card in your A30 is actually a chip integrated into the mother-board unlike a desktop PC where it is a separate card. This makes replacing it rather difficult/impossible without replacing the entire motherboard.

    Hi:
Unfortunately in most of today's notebooks (including yours), the graphics cannot be upgraded.
I looked at the service manual for your notebook, and there aren't even any other motherboards with better graphics available.
You can try the latest drivers from AMD to see if that helps, any but you can't do anything with the hardware.

    Hi:
Graphics adapters cannot be upgraded simply.
You would need to replace the motherboard with one that would have better graphics (if one exists for your model).
This would cost as much as buying a new notebook, so it is probably not a good idea to undertake such an endeavor.

  • What upgrade graphic card do i need for a early 2008 mac pro

I have a early 2008 Mac Pro.  ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB is what i have now.  What is a good upgrade graphic card to get.

The GTX 780 6GB runs fine on the dual PCIe internal power cables -- as does the GTX 680 and Radeon HD 7950. The same can't be said of the GTX TITAN or GTX 780 Ti or Radeon R9 280X -- all of which require an auxiliary power feed to avoid a nasty power down of your tower at the worst moment when too much wattage is demanded of the Mac Pro's factory power supply.
Did I mention that the GTX 780 with 6GB of GDDR5 matches the 6GB of GDDR5 in the TITAN?
The one fallacy to my 'sweet spot' award has to do with OpenCL. In case you hadn't noticed, the AMD Radeon GPUs smoked the NVIDIA GeForce GPUs running Photoshop's OpenCL accelerated Iris Blur filter and rendering LuxMark's OpenCL accelerated Room scene.
So depends on budget, whether you want a PC card for less but no "early EFI boot screen" prior to drivers loading, and what apps and needs you have.
The one thing for sure is that 2600XT should have been retired ages ago and even more so with 10.8.3 and above, it could be trouble or just... PITA/POS.

  • Upgrading graphic card on HP DC 8300 CMT

    Dear HP,
I try to upgrade graphic card, on HP DC 8300 CMT (Intel® Core™ i7-3770 Processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000 )
with Nvidia Asus GeForce GTX 650 Ti.
As stock power supply doesnt meet requirements, I installed an additional  FSP Group Booster X5 450W.
Once I turn PC on, it reboots 3 times, and eventually it continues to use onboard graphic and windows 7 loads as usual .
like if new graphic card is not present. (not detected by windows)
Bios version is latest and particular option  for disableing integrated graphic is grayed out- not accessible.
Is there any explanation why this happens ?
On DC 8100 sff It automaticaly disabled onboard graphic, altough it was low consumption Radeon HD 7750 Low Profile card, and there was no any problem.
    Regards.

  • Upgrading Graphics Card - Is it possible?

    Hello forums,
I was doing some research today, and I was looking into possibly upgrading the graphics card on my 2007 iMac. It's an ATI Radeon HD 2400 running with the 3GB of RAM on my computer. If you could help me, I'd like to know the answers to the following questions:
Can the ATI Radeon HD 2400 handle HD video editing on the likes of Final Cut Express? I do frequent video editing, but with low quality video. I've been looking to make the jump to HD video, but not sure if my card can handle it.
If no, is there a possibly way I could upgrade it to a new card that could handle it? I saw this guide that explained it, but I wanted to double check it because many people remain doubtful of it.
If I am unable to upgrade it, would I be better off buying a new iMac completely?
Would upgrading my computer's memory from 3GB to 4GB (max) help any?
Probably one of my biggest dilemmas right now is deciding if I can still use this 2007 iMac, or if I will need to purchase an entirely new iMac. Any advice you can offer me regarding these questions is much obliged. Thanks!
    - Justin
Also, didn't know if this would help any, but I decided to attach it anyways.

The GPU in the iMac is not user upgradeable.

  • Is it possible to upgrade graphics by buying another (same) card ?

    Hi
Scince I am playing a lot of heavy games on my MacPro (mid 2012) (windows), and new games like FarCry 3 are lagging a bit on Ultra graphics, I thought of an upgrade. I thought of buyin a new graphics card, but scince it isn't that important to play on ultra graphics I thought of an cheaper upgrade like buying an extra Radeon HD 5770 so i get 2x HD 5770, but I got my suspicions that the gaming performance won't change, or the graphics performance wont change at all, that it just allows me to add more displays. So my question is: Should I buy a new graphics card like one of the GTX series or should I add another 5770? Or maybe I upgrade other components instead of graphics ?
    thanks,

I got my suspicions that the gaming performance won't change, or the graphics performance wont change at all, that it just allows me to add more displays.
    Your suspicions are exactly right.
This week, a new graphics card for the Mac Pro, Apple/AMD 7970 Mac Edition will start to become avaiable at about US$500. This should shake things up a bit in the Mac Pro (2008 and later) graphics arena.
An early benchmark of its cousin under Windows is here:

  • 2009 Mac Pro upgrading graphics card to GTX 680 mac. What is the best version of AE and PP and OSX to have?

    Hello,
    I have a 2009 Mac Pro 4.1
    Mac OSX version 10.6.8
    Processor - 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory - 24GB
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 4870
I use After Effects and Premiere Pro daily for my work. I am not too technically minded. I want to update and improve my machine as much as possible and am thinking of buying an SSD drive to replace my current start up disk. I also am thinking about getting the GTX 680 mac version graphics card. I have read many online discussions regarding OpenCL and CUDA, many discussions with mixed feelings about the improvements the 680 gives an older Mac Pro - some people say it is amazing others say the improvements seem minimal or worse.
What I want to know is if I purchase the SSD and 680 graphics card what is the optimal OSX - 10.8 or 10.9? and what is the optimal versions of AE and PP to have - CS6 or CC? Also what settings and what additional drivers would I need to consider?
I contacted an independent authorised mac reseller and he thought it was a bad idea to put a new graphics card and get the latest OSX in an old machine and tried to sell me a used 2010 Mac Pro, but I think it would be more cost effective to get the SSD and 680 instead, it's just I read the occasional horror story on a forum and I worry about making the wrong choice, I rely on my Mac Pro to make a living!
    Thanks in advance

Thank you for the valuable information Eric, I think I will go with the 680 but I understand that it wont be fully utilised on my old Mac Pro.
Perhaps I will replace my startup/applications hard drive with a 480GB SSD. My other 3 bays are full with 3 x 2TB Hard drives that have media on them so I have no spare room for a dedicated SSD drive for AE cache. But could I put a 250GB SSD into one of the PCI-E slots using something like - SSD SuperSpeed Upgrade Kit for Apple Mac Pro 2008 2009 2010 2012 | eBay
Would this be my best solution? Is it a relatively simple installation, does anyone have any experience of a similar setup?
cc_merchant, thank you for the reply, I am aware you have to pay monthly payments for CC, that is no problem.

  • Upgrade Graphics card for 2007 24in Intel iMac...any word yet?

Hello, I remember talking about upgrading my 128mb graphics card on my 2007 24 inch Intel iMac a while back. people said it was possible, but now that two years have passed almost, have they come out with new cards that fit this machine? what is the best to use and where do I get one?
Is it easy enough for me to do myself or should I have it installed professionally?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately not these machines were not intended to have graphic card upgrades therefore no graphics card upgrade is available for your iMac.
If you want an upgradeable machine the next time your purchase I would recommend looking at the Mac Pro which is designed with upgradability in mind, including memory, hard drives, and yes graphics cards.

  • P7-1490 upgrade Graphics Card and Power Supply

I just got a GEFORCE GTX 650TI Boost graphics card.  The 300 watt Power Supply on my P7-1490 can't handle it because I need a 6 pin power connector.  The 1490 comes with a 300 Watt Power Supply.  I need something at least 450 watts.  Which upgrade will fit my box.  In addition, can the Jasmine Motherboard handle the new graphics card.  It does fit into the PCI Express slot.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Please consider the Corsair CX500, CX500M, CX600, or CX600M power supplies for your needs. Yes, the Jasmine motherboard in your p7-1490 should be capable of handling the GTX 650 Ti. Additionally, you will need to disable "Secure Boot" and possibly enable "Legacy Support" in the BIOS before installing the GTX 650 Ti.
