Is it possible to upgrade the HDD to 160GB on Tecra A4?

Hi!!
I have a TECRA-A4 SP PTA40E-01TOOFSP with a 60 GB hard drive (Hitachi IC25N060ATMR04-0) and I need more storage in my laptop. I wonder if it would be possible to install a 160 GB HD in this notebook. I like the Hitachi 5K160 160GB 5400RPM Mobile Hard Drive.
Do you think that it is possible?
I want to by it through the internet so I can not ask in the shop. At least, I wanted to know what could be the biggest and fastest one that I can buy for my laptop.
Thank you very much.
Domingo.

Don't belive in HDD overheating. I just changed HDD in my Tecra A7, from Fujitsu 60GB 5400RPM, to Seagate Momentus 100GB 7200RPM. The temperature of Fujitsu was 43 degrees Celcius, Seagate - 44, so the difference is next to nothing. Some will say that 7200RPM drives consume more energy, and so the notebook will work shorter on its battery. The difference is about 3-4 minutes on behalf of 5400RPM drive, however the operating system runs more smoothly on 7200RPM, so in fact, You will be able to perform more operations.

  • Tecra S1: It is possible to upgrade the HDD to 80GB

It is possible to upgrade the hard disk on my Tecra S1 to a 80GB+ disk drive. If so What's the maximum size and can anyone recommend a disk.

I have found info that max HDD capacity on delivered Tecras S1 was exactly 80GB. More than that can make problems and will not recognize properly.
Sorry but I didnt find any other info about that.

Is it possible to upgrade the harddisk/harddisc space, currently its just 80 GB (only 70 GB is useable).
    Thanks

Googling around I found the info that Toshiba Tecra M5 can be upgraded with follow compatible HDDs:
    100 GB
    Toshiba HDD2D30BZK01
    FUJITSU G8BC00028A10
    HITACHI GST G8BC00029A10
    120 GB

I cannot say for sure but I believe you can use HDDs with more capacity and it can goes up to 200 GB.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on a Tecra A8 (PTA38E)?

The Intel integrated GMA 945 chipset on the Tecra A8 isn't quite coping with the demands I'm putting it under. (3D gaming...)
I know that laptops are severely restricted on space internally and that the purpose of the integrated chipset is to conserve power, but is it possible to install a stand alone graphics card instead of using integrated graphics?
If so, can you reccommend a suitable graphics card and any companies that would have the expertise to install the card... (I'd imagine it'd be a little bit beyond my abilities)

Oh Well thats my question answred. I guess I'll just have to go and get a dedicated gaming desktop now too... Sigh :)
A good product idea for graphics card companies might be a removable graphics card that you can slot into the card slot or usb port on the computer. Would the data transfer rate be fast enough to cope with this of does a graphics card always have to be directly on the motherboard?

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...
Next... Check that your Mac meets the Requirements for Mountain Lion.
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
With Regard to ML...  Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using... Also note that Rosetta is no longer supported in Lion and Mountain Lion...

  • Qosmio E10: Is it possible to upgrade the graphic adapter?

    Hello there,
I have a question regarding a Qosimio E10. Is it possible to upgrade the graphics Adapter to a more recent one. (Now : Geforce FX 5200 Go 64 Mb) Because the one i use now is ot of date and I dont want to buy a new notebook just because of a Graphics Card !
    Thanks for your help
    Marco

    Hi
No, its not possible because the graphic card is a little small chip which was fixed on the mainboard. The graphic card design is not the same like on the PC desktop.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the motherboard/graphics in my dv7-4177nr?

When I first bought this laptop it had decent, not great, performance in regards to video game graphics capabilities.  Requirements for video games are constantly evolving and my graphics card is no longer sufficient for new games.  I was wondering if it is at all possible to upgrade the integrated graphics (ATI Radeon HD 5470, I believe) of my dv7-4177nr by purchasing a new motherboard.  If so, what are some model numbers of compatible motherboards?  I would really like to avoid the purchase of a new PC/laptop as this one is only about 1.5 years old I think.
    Thanks!

Yes it is.... I own a dv7-4177nr myself and talked at length with HP... if you can find the right motherboard (oem) and don't mind doing the work yourself it is doable. Keep in mind you have to swap out the motherboard (mobo) with another because the gpu and sundry is built into the mobo and not detachable like a desktop setup. Also if all you want is a gpu upgrade and are lucky enough to have a PCI card slot there are several options that you can upgrade your gpu to a desktop gpu which eliminates the need to swap motherboards and just run a graphics card (gpu) for gaming or streaming purposes...

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro? And is it possible to upgrade the RAM without voiding the warranty?

Hi I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the graphics card on a MacBook Pro and the RAM without voiding the warranty? I have a gt 650m in my MacBook Pro, non retina, and to me, its not enough power for me, so i was looking around, and I found a retailer that would give me a nvidia gtx 660m for a decent price. Also, the ram needs to be at least 12gbs, to ensure that my computer would run fast.
If you can help, please tell me,
    Thankyou.

No, the video card cannot be exchanged - you have a pretty decent GPU there; not sure why you'd want to switch it out. You can upgrade the RAM to a maximum of 16GBs. Apple recommends upgrading in matching pairs, so I don't really think I'd try 4GB and 8GB stick.
Both Crucial and OWC have memory available for the new Macs. Both are reputable dealers and know Macs well and I would only buy from these sources (and I would buy Crucial, were it me).
Although your Mac didn't come with a users manual outlining the installation of the additional RAM, you can download the late 2011 model users guide as the models themselves are almost identical.
Good luck - write back with any questions.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card in the HP ENVY 17-j053ea?

    Hi
I'm considering buying the HP ENVY 17-j053ea for use as a portable workstation for applications such as Max Design, autocad and photoshop as a second system for when I need to be away from the office but still need the ability to work.
This machine seems to have a lot of bang per buck and is more in line with my budget than a full on portable workstation.
As far as upgrade options I presume I could max out the ram at 16GB and put in an SSD as the main OS and application drive and use the main 1TB drive as the mass storage unit.
What I'm wondering is if it possible to upgrade the graphics card in this machine?
I don't imagine I would be attempting such an upgrade myself but assuming I leave it into a professional is this possible.
My worry is that with some of my heavier model files I could feel the limitations of the mid range portable gfx card onboard. I could probably live with it if it is not an option but just putting feelers out.

    Thanks for the reply Paul
    I see.
    That doesn't sound feasible so.
I can manage the other 2 upgrades within my budget but things seem to get quite expensive on the higher end platforms very quickly.
It's my first foray into the laptop/workstation arena so I'm not that familiar yet with clever upgrade strategies.
I did have the use of this model for a few days and It is a really nice overall laptop, both aesthetically and value wise.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the processor in a J2V78UA, 15-f009wm laptop?

Is it possible to upgrade the processor in a J2V78UA, 15-f009wm laptop? It has a

    Hi,
Processor on your machine is one of the following CPU's for the series:
    ● AMD E1-6010 (1.35 GHz, 1 MB L2, 1333MHz DDR3L), dual core, 10 W
    ● AMD E1-2100 (1.0 GHz, 1 MB L2, 1333MHz DDR3L), dual core, 9 W

    ● AMD E1-2100 (1.0 GHz, 1 MB L2, 1333MHz DDR3L), dual core, 9 W
Processors Processors are attached to the system board.
It short NOT upgradable. You need a new motherboard (= new machine).

  • Is it possible to upgrade the HD?

Is there a way to upgrade the 1.8inch/80gb HD with a larger HD? I saw on the internet that Toshiba has a 160GB 1.8 inch HD..... Don't even know if it will fit the MBA....
    Thanks

The Air is not serviceable by the end user. If you have an Apple service centre nearby, I'd give them a call and ask if they could upgrade the HDD for you (they could also tell you if it would fit).
Bear in mind also that if you do upgrade your HDD to a 160GB, the battery life will probably go down on the Air as the larger HDD uses more power.
Iomega have announced a 320GB external HDD for the MacBook Air, called the eGo Helium, powered off the USB port. It shares the same styling as the Air. It won't void your warranty and offers twice as much storage as the 160 you're thinking about. (Alternatively use online storage for your files, like MobileMe, which offers 20GB as standard or up to 60GB for an additional monthly fee) then you won't need to butcher your Air
