Is it possible to upload web pages created in IWEB to another type of site?

I have tried to read through a lot of the posts on here, and always seem to get lost after a few. I am trying to post a website that I am creating using IWEB to the internet. THe catch is that my .Mac account has expired, so I wanted to find another way to get them online. I am a high school teacher and trying to make a website for my classes. If anyone has any other ideas or information please let me know. I greatly appreciate all your time.

Click here for options, or if your ISP allows it, place the published files in the folder /Library/WebServer/Documents/ of your hard disk and start web sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences.

Why does my web page, created on iWeb, look correct on Safari but has thick black lines all over it in Firefox?

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?  I assume those black lines are around photos or objects that have had a frame or drop shadow added to it, right?  If so that's a known issue.
There's a workaround for that in this tutorial: #7 - Converting Photos w/Frames, Drop Shadows and/or Reflections into a Single Image File.  That should get rid of those black lines/boxes.

  • Link to iTunes music store from a web page created in iWeb

Is there a way to create a link to the iTunes music store from a web page made in iWeb. I'd like to make a list of songs, and link each one to the song on the music store.
    G5 Dual 2.7 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

James, am I right in assuming, then, that one has to
have purchased that iTune from the iTunes Store? So,
logically then, if I have song that I copied from a
CD in my iTunes, iWeb would not link to it?
Sure, you can link your own music .mp3 files this way...but it doesn't go directly to your music library. What you would do is to have a copy of your music file saved to the desktop. Then make a link to file (one of the options in the Inspector Hyperlink tab) to this music file. When you publish your page, a copy of the music file will be uploaded to your site as well...so that people clicking on the link that you made can download the file.
You can also drag in your music file to iWeb and use QT to play the music file on your webpage.

  • TS2167 My web pages created in iWeb have disappeared

I finally completed the creation of a website in iWeb with some 30 pages last night and uploaded it to to the host GoDaddy.
After upload I went to the URL for my website on GoDaddy and it looked fine.  This morning when I opened my Domain.sites2 file
it opened iWeb as if I hadn't done a website at all.  I went to a backup Domain.sites2 file that was 1.43 GB in size when when I opened it, the same thing appeared - the opening window in iWeb asking me to choose a template to start creating my website.
My site in GoDaddy is still there, but I do not seem to be able to to open my original iWeb file with all of the 30 website pages,
So I apparently can't make any updates to my website in GoDaddy.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  I did correct disc
permissions and that did not help.

What Mac OSX version are you using?  Lion or Mountain Lion?
It is just that if you are using Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite, then it is no longer possible to open individual domain.sites files and once you open one domain file, you are not able to open anything else and that is probably what you are finding.
To be able to open individual domain.sites files you will need to download an application such as Domain Cracker or iWeb User Sites.  Do a search of this forum and there are multiple topics on it, or do a Google search and you should be able to find it to download.
Can I ask why you decided to use iWeb to create a 30 page new website?  Did you actually know that iWeb software has not been supported or sold by Apple for over 2 to 3 years now and is an unsupported product, which is why you are experiencing problems using it?
Perhaps you should look for an alternative - check out RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express, Web Acappella 4 and EverWeb.

  • My web page, created on iWeb and up and running since 2011, is no longer on iWeb. Where did it go?

I created a webpage on iWeb in 2011. It's on line. It has worked great. Tonight I wanted to do some editing, which I do about monthly, I opened iWeb and my page is gone. Where did it go?

You need to find your iWeb data storage.
Everything to do with iWeb is stored under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
It is your domain.sites file that you need to find, as this is where all your data is stored.  Find that file and double click it and iWeb will open it and you have your site.
If you can't find the file, either do a spotlight search or use the App find any file.

  • Web Page created using the Site Studio loads slow.

Web Page created using the Site Studio loads slow, where we hard coded the program to fetch the data from the database.
Please tell me any other way to write the program so that it takes less time to load the site.

    Hello Marcus,
I didt the same what you have explained. I followed the following Steps.
    1. Created the Web Page and published(It is in Umlock State).
    2. Created the Site Navigation and gave the target for that page.
    3. In the Portal Content, I created a role , then folder and for the folder property, i gave the External Connector wpcnavigation:///wpccontent/Sites/News/Site Navigation/navigation.wpc ( Say for ex News is a Site) and Entry Point as Yes.
    4. After this i assigned that role to a user(Super Admin).
After doing the above steps, I couldnt able to see the Web Page displayed.
    Thanks

  • Web pages from one computer to another

    Hi,
While in Italy for two months I made a large number of web pages on .mac from over 1000 pictures. These pages are on my MacBook.
When I returned I successfully transferred the pictures from my MacBook to my iMac.
HOWEVER, neither the smart albums or web pages (not smart) transferred.
Is it possible to export web pages from Aperture from one computer to another? How?
But how do I move the web pages from my portable to my desktop machine? -- And for that matter can you move smart albums from one machine to another?
    Thank you.

yes. aperture is very flexible working with web sites and projects/albums
    How?
what I do is build the web site, example, web journal and then "Export Web Pages." aperture will make a folder of your site with all the css, indexes, photos etc. you can then drag and drop this folder anywhere you'd like.
I export that folder into my local_site root folder in Dreamweaver and tweak the css from there
    you can also use iweb
But how do I move the web pages from my portable to my desktop machine?
    see above
-- And for that matter can you move smart albums from one machine to another?
yes. select the project in the project pane and export the project
in the other computer, open aperture and File>Import>Project... or Folders into Project (depending how you exported in the first place)

  • HT1338 I am looking to publish a web site I created in iWeb to another hosting provider.  I have never published this site to MobileMe nor do I have a MobileMe account

I am looking to publish a web site I created in iWeb to another hosting provider.  I have never published this site to MobileMe nor do I have a MobileMe account.  Can someone please help me?

Hi Larry, no experience with iWeb, (which is ending soon), but what kind of files & folders does it make locally?
You need a Wb Hosting service & an ftp client, if you need more info reply with that & what kind of files/folders it made.

  • Can I update a blog created in iWeb from another computer?

    Hello Forum,
While I am away from my office base, I would like to update my blog (created using iWeb) from another computer. I have a dotmac account.
I thought doing this should pose no problems, but I simply can't figure it out.....
Hope someone can help me out on this one.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Greg

When you go to .mac and log in, you should see stories there regarding the features of .mac. One of the recent ones (should still be on the front page) is Tech note: Using iWeb on more than one Mac
    Underneath this header, you'll find
"All you need to do is quit iWeb (if it’s open), locate the domain.sites file (Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites), and move it to wherever you’re going to use it. Then double-click the file in its new location. iWeb will launch, and you’re done. From then on, iWeb will automatically save your work in the new location, and you’ll be able to publish your site from any Mac that has access to it.
So, if your domain.sites is small enough to fit on your iDisk, you could keep a copy there and use it from any computer that has iWeb 1.1 or later installed to update your blog.

  • Making a web page created with WPC available in an iView

    Hi all,
is it possible to display a web page which was created with the WPC in an Iview?
Every guide I found explains how to make it available via Entry Point but I need it in an iView.
    Regards,
    Bastian Jäschke

    Hi,
    1. create a new iView with Portal Component as source
    2. choose portal archive: com.sap.nw.wpc.runtime
    3. choose default on next screen
    4. Afterwards choose the category Web Page Composer in the Property Editor.
    5. Insert the Path of the Web Page in the property : RID of Compound Document
(you can copy it by clicking on 'Copy Path' in the context menu of the web page)
    example: /wpccontent/Sites/MyWebSite/Web Pages/MyWebPage
I translated it from german documentation. Hope, you understand it.
That's the way i did it too nad it worked for me.
    Best Regards,
    Marcus

  • Uploading web pages via Goliath.

I am on Direcway Satellite and can't use the publish button to upload my pages. There is some issue between Direcway and .Mac sesrvice. Anyway, I have Goliath and have successfully published my web page to Disk and then used Goliath to upload this whole folder to the proper place on my .Mac account. I have two sites. Site and Site2. I type in the URL for the Site2 and it does bring up some data but not an HTML page, just some text is all.
Why does the whole web page not show as it does when I view it from Disk on my own system?
For my main Site pages, I had to resort to a dial up account and that took forever to publish using the publish button. So, this time I just published my Site2 to disk and one would think if I place on my .Mac account using Goliath, I could view it but just get text.
    Need help!!
    Thanks
    tj

I just went ahead and connected via dial up and it took 15 minutes to upload but what I want to figure this out anyway. I transfered to my Web/Sites/iWeb/ folder was the new Site2 folder that was created when I published to disk. I had iWeb write it to my home directories Site folder. I then used Goliath to transfer the whole Sites2 folder. I also transfered the new index.html to this same Web/Sites/iWeb folder. I did not resend the original Site folder that I did not want to touch and left that be. Maybe I have to send it all over via Goliath to work or something.
But, is there more than just the new folder and index.html that I need to send over. It seems to pick up the new URL but I just get text html when I went to it until I published via dial up and now it worked fine.
    My URL is:
    http://www.vwhippie.com
    that forwards to:
    http://web.mac.com/macsociety/iWeb/Site2/HeyDude.html
Hope this helps. It will work now since I published it via dial up but what I am trying to figure out are what are ALL files I need to transfer everytime to make this work. I am guessing more than just my new Sites2 and index.html file.

  • Why can't I successfully upload web pages using FTP?

I recently installed Adobe Dreamweaver and successfully connected to a remote server where the files on my existing website are stored. I was then able to call up web pages from my local site, make revisions and successfully upload them (using FTP) to the remote server.
Problem started occurring when I received a Dreamweaver prompt advising me to change the name of my website's root folder from Unnamed Web Folder 1 to the actual location of the files on my i-Mac hard drive. In doing so, I moved the path of the site and changed the name of the root fokder.
Since then, when I make revisions on a locally stored web page and try to upload it to my remote server (by clicking on the "put" upward arrow), the operation seems to be excuted correctly. But when I test the revised page on a separate browser (like Safari or MI Explorer), the un-revised web page is displayed.
In trying to remedy the situation. I fear that I've been digging a deeper and deeper hole and may have screwed things up even further.
    Help!

I'm really confused.  So let's back up about 4 steps.
Local site files should be on your hard drive.  The same computer hard drive that Dreamweaver is installed on.  For sake of argument, let's put your site files into a folder called YourSiteName on your C: drive.  Do not use any spaces or special characters in your folder or filenames.
    LocalSite = C:\YourSiteName
Then tell DW where to find that folder as in the screenshot I posted earlier.
Next, define your remote server settings and tell DW which root directory your hosting company told you to use for your site files.  Some hosts use public_html or htdocs or www.  And some hosts don't use one at all in which case you leave that field blank.
    See screenshots.
    Next hit More Options.
Hit the test button to confirm you can connect to the remote server.

  • Opening a web page created through Dreamweaver

Is there any way I can open in iWeb and then save a web page I created using another application; in this case, Dreamweaver? Or would I have to duplicate that page in iWeb from the ground up?

Unfortunately it has been answered. I was hoping I'd be able to easily shift over to iWeb from the much more complex Dreamweaver. But thanks for the answer.
