Is it possible to use a cloud-based file storage workflow with InCopy?

We have outside writers and editors that we do not want to provide server access to due to security reasons. Wondered if it would be possible to store all the InDesign, InCopy files, etc. in the cloud and have all parties access the files from there. Would this work?

Your subscription allows for two functioning installations (normally on separate machines, but I imagine you could install the two as you indicate).

I'm a designer student and as a designer, I constantly have to make decks for presentations. I typically work in a group of six and because I'm confident with graphic design, I tend to be the leader of these tasks. I've found the best workflow for slide creation is Indesign. Unfortunatly, I'm just an awful writer— so when I heard about Incopy's collabrative features(saw the post from indesign's facebook page) I saw oppertunity and got very excited. My teamates and I typically all have subscriptions to adobe cc because of this, I was wondering (since I havent used it at all) if the storage given out from adobe cc was able to be that shared volume that is required for the live link between incopy stories and indesign layouts.

If this needs any further clarification I'll gladly write a more detailed question — lastly, if this is not possible might you suggest an alternative? Please assume that we go to school together but we work offsite also.

You will not be able to use the Files page at https://creative.adobe.com/files for collaboration in this way. But you can share individual files in this way.
When folder sharing is available this will be possible.

Is it possible to use creative cloud in more than one region. For example I live in Spain, but also spend a lot of time in the United States. Will it function even though every country has it's own pricing etc.

YEs. Once installed the programs work just fine everywhere. The only issue may be with the sync stuff and other online features, since it will try to detect your region and give warnings or errors. Turning this stuff off might help.

I was wondering if it was possible to use Automator to move files based on the filename.

I'm kind of new to Automator and I'm trying to come up with a sequence that will severely save me a few hours a day moving files from two larger folders into smaller folders. Basically the setup is that I have two folders, one constantly being populated with images and the other with video files. They each have file names starting with a two digit number (i.e. 12, 11, 10...) or "BG" and then a two digit number (i.e. BG12, BG11, BG10...) with the digits corresponding to a year. Essentially, I'd need to move the files into folders corresponding to the year (i.e. files starting with BG12 and 12 would be moved to 2012, files starting with BG11 and 11 would be moved to 2011, etc). As it stands now, I've only been able to get the 2012 folder populated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a solution that uses a script, because it is not possible, at least to make twenty or more Workflows
In Automator :
Create a new worflow.
Add the action "Run Shell Script", select "/bin/bash" in the popup menu
Cut the text in the action.
Copy/paste this script in the action :

Replace the paths in the first line by the path of your Images Folder and Video Folder, use drag/drop between the simple quote ''

This script will not overwrite existing files, If you want to replace the existing file, use the /bin/mv -f instead of /bin/mv -n

Yes! Even when your 30 day trial is up, you will have up to 2gb of storage on the creative cloud. However, you will not have access to all of the programs that are available on the cloud. That is the free version that you can use to upload your files from the Adobe Touch Apps, or whatever else you'd like!

My iMac - Photoshop and DreamWeaver
My MBA 1 - DreamWeaver
My wife's MBA 2 - Photoshop
Can I use a single Creative Cloud license to work in that way or should I purchase 2 licenses?

Additionally, you cannot use different programs of the suite at the same time by the same user on different computers.
I've always understood that to be true for Creative Suites.
But for Cloud apps I understand that the same user can install and use any Cloud apps on two computers (Mac and/or Windows) at the same time.

Using Creative Cloud to produce a book with a Team

If I wanted to use Adobe's Creative Cloud to produce a yearbook for a high school (InDesign), would I buy a subscription for each staff member? What is the best way for all staff to collaborate on the yearbook using this Cloud?

The Team Ready offering is currently not available yet, I neglected to mention this but resellers should have told you this as well.
Is the only thing different about the Team/Team Ready offering is that one license key/serial number is usable and transferable among a group of people? What about versioning and cloud storage, etc.?
I'm not sure of all the exact details of the differences but a single license is definately one of them, price, additional products not included with the MC, cloud storage, I think those are others.
It appears to be much more user-friendly and cost effective to purchase individual licenses (especially at $29.99 per month) than to seek out an elusive Team Ready offering that may or may not be better for my team. Thoughts?

Is it possible to use an older model Dell printer (wired) with a HP wireless laptop?

I am using an HP Pavillion laptop computer with Windows 7 at home. I am connected to a wireless printer (Canon 3 in 1). I have to leave town & go to my aunt's house in another city. She has no computer setup at her house, but we have wireless router there so I can use my laptop.
Can I take my old Dell printer (which I used when I had a desktop), plug it into my laptop (I assume I'll have to also install printer) & use it there (without it being wireless, etc.?). The ink should still be viable but it has been several months since I've used it. I need to know if it would be worthwhile to take my old printer with me & be able to set it up & use it. If so, is it possible to use a laptop (I use wireless at my aunt's house) with a hard-wired printer? And would it be hard to set up?
Bottom line is, I'm selling stuff on Ebay this week, I have to make an emergency trip to help family, & will probably have to lug items (and print out shipping labels) while I'm there. I thought it might be useful to have in the long run a printer (albeit an older model) that I can use while helping out family in another city.
I'm sure I'm leaving out some info but if you think you need more to answer my question, let me know.... thank you in advance.

If I read this right, you can install your wired printer right now and test it out. Then go on your trip and just plug in back into your computer and it will work just fine.

Is it possible to use 2 firewire drives as TM backup with raid?

It seems that RAID is used for a lot of things, but I haven't been able to figure out if this is a proper use.
I have two hard drives. (1 TB/320 GB) I'd like to format the two drives into one using RAID in Disk Utility and use fore Time Machine backups. Is this possible or advisable? If this would work, is there a limit to the number of drives in a RAID setup?

It's certainly possible to use a proper RAID with Time Machine, but you don't have the drives to create a proper RAID. A proper RAID system should be built using identical drives - same capacity, same brand and ideally, even the same firmware.

The behavior is different on computers and mobile devices.
On computers, songs will stream from the cloud unless you explicitely download them, so no.
On iOS devices, each song is downloaded when you play it (or when you explicitly download it), so yes, if you play many different songs, it will eventually fill up your device and you will have to delete some of them.

Cloud based file sync for SBS?

Hey All, I don't know if this already exists or if you know of a software program that can allow this. I have a large handful of SBS clients and non server environments. I would like to possibly host a server and then have my client's SBS server sync their
files to my self hosting server. The idea is to give my clients greater piece of mind and quick access to data in the event of a catastrophe. I know programs like Crashplan are out there, but does it support SBS with Exchange?

Is it possible to use Snow Leopard on Mountain Lion iMac with Virtualbox ?

I've been lucky recently, with people giving the perfect solutions for me so I try again.
But, this one is a tough one: How to run a virtual Snow Leopard on a new iMac ?
I got a 2013 iMac with Mountain Lion (10.8.5 now) so, totally incompatible with Snow Leopard. I need SL anyway.
Give up all you old applications and buy new ones is not acceptable. First, this is not my way of thinking and, second, some cannot be replaced.
Many posts say that you can use Snow Leopard with VirtualBox but I could not find anywhere the "how to" (in this particular configuration).
For instance, I followed these 2 protocols, almost similar:

but they use Windows as host system and something is not working (for me) with Mountain Lion.
I made many attempts, with VirtualBox 4.2.18, using pretty much everything: Snow Leopard DVD, SL Server DVD, .dmg of both. I've also got Combo 10.6.8 updates for both (but I'm not sure if it can be used before installing). With another MacBook, I managed to install a SLS on external hard drive and update to 10.6.8. Was unable to use it anyway.
Inevitably, I ended up with the message:
"FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted."
I have no idea of what support to use and even, probably important, if it should be set on Primary or Secondary Master ? (in Settings / Storage)
Is it possible at all ???
Would it work better with VMware Fusion ? Anybody successful ?

Clean Install of Snow Leopard
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc. Insert the disc into the
         optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the
         "C" key. Release the key when you see a small spinning gear appear below the
         dark gray Apple logo.
     2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
         button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
         size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
         partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, set the format type to Mac
         OS Extended (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
     3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
         with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
     4. When the installation has completed your computer will require a restart after
         which you will be running a fresh install of OS X. You can now begin the update
         process by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to
         bring your installation current.
First you will have to prep your new SSD:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.

Is it possible to use a portlet backing file on the dvt_enabler portlet?

We currently have a 9.2 portal with a simple login form portlet that uses a backing file to do much security checking, authentication against ActiveDir, etc. Our requirement is to convert to WLP 10.3 using the DVT enabler portlet or something like it for login (because DVT/DISC is to be turned on for the portal). will it be possible to specify that backing file against the DVT enabler portlet?

I'm not sure using the DVT enabler portlet will do what you want. It basically just specifies the render dependencies to bring in the dojo and dvt javascript libraries. It doesn't provide any login support itself; the javascript it brings responds to the logged-in state of the user (accessed via DISC), so something else is required to login the user.
