Is it possible to use a keyboard sounds through midi on Logic 8?

The thing that I'm asking, is to do it the opposite.
I mean, you're able to use your midi controller such as M-Audio with the sounds from the software, for instance "Main Stage part of Logic Pro" , but I'm wandering If you Can do it the opposite way.
Using the Sounds Bank from the Keyboard through the interface and then recording as midi track, no an audio track.

Hi Erik,
ps Pancenter:
Apple is not really either a hard- or software manufacturer. You are panned hard right there, I'm afraid. Both -wares are too interconnected to separate them like that. The combination is too important for their success - which they needed, back in the 'performa' and '601/4' days... The Pre-imaccian period...
The fact that Logic is now affordable for unwealthy but passionate amateurs like myself, I find wonderful. i had to sell my U220 and X5dr for it - luckily they indeed proved obsolete...
Well, if you ask Apple they will generally tell you they are a Hardware company, the software is there to sell hardware.
Their "key" pro apps are not available on other platforms, they are designed to do one main thing... get the hardware out there, why do you think Apple cut the price of Logic in half and removed the copy protection? A student of mine downloaded the whole f#$%^& program, jam packs and all. For someone who has used Logic since a 2.xx MIDI version and literally spent several thousand on the program and updates, it's somewhat of a slap in the face.
So I disagree, Apple is a mainly a hardware company, their software is designed to promote hardware, their profit is made in hardware sales.
If they were really a software company, support wouldn't cost an arm and a leg as the expense of the software would (somewhat) offset the support costs. (what is it now, $200 a call for pro help?)
I've beta tested enough to know how much time and money software support costs.
pancenter-
p.s. I wish the forum moderators would weigh in on this issue as the forum provides a LOT of support for Apple.

I would love to see a new feature to allow the use of different keyboard language on multiple monitors with the same desktop mac.

So I wouldn't have to switch keyboard language all the time!

  • Possible to use powerbook keyboard for my desktop? (temporarily)

So I have a wireless keyboard for my desktop G4.
I need to do some work in single-user mode and I can't do that with the bluetooth keyboard. Is there a way to temporarily make it so I can use the keyboard from my powerbook G4 in its place?
    Please let me know!

I'm sure it means he owns the Zen Touch.
Phono cables are often not enough for a car stereo as it needs to detect a CD changer, but you can get adapters from a variety of stores that will fool some stereos into thinking there is a changer there. More information and some links here (but try a search in Google as well for your make and/or model of stereo).
Phono cables are also the typical cable uses to connect to a home stereo, but double check your stereo to be sure.Message Edited by SSR on 2-27-2004 02:5 PM

  • How do I use my own sounds from computer in logic?

    Hello,
Ok so I'm working with the most recent update of Logic Pro X and I'm having the issue of using my own sounds that i already have inside of a new project on logic. I have a bunch of snares and things already on my computer and I wanted to use them in the software. I know that dragging them into the software doesn't achieve much. I am trying to use them through my maschine mikro. My maschine is already set up as a controller for Logic. My description may be a bit hazy, and if so I'm sorry.

  • Is it possible to use the keyboard arrow keys to adjust the exact position of a text box in PE11?

    Hello all,
Could someone please give me a tip on a precise way to move a text box a pixel to the left (or right) - any direction really, using the arrow keys on the keyboard instead of the mouse.
This may sound like a daft question but the only way I can move a text object is by using the mouse and dragging text boxes precisely in any direction is a real pain, especially if I have many of them.
The mouse just can't be the only way.
I wish the arrow keys could work just like in Microsoft Word. When the text box is selected and the arrow cursor is also activated, one can adjust the exact position of the text box.
It doesn't seem to work in Pr.Elements 11 though. I tried various combinations (Alt + left/right), (Ctrl + left/right) etc. and still nothing.
    Is this possible at all?
Thanks in advance to those that will bother to respond.
    Pavlin

    Hi Bill,
Thanks. We do have Adobe CC and therefore I have access to PrPro but I spent some time getting to know Element's interface already and was hoping I would not have to use PrPro, which is slightly more complicated.
It is only small to medium edit jobs that I need editing software for anyway.
    That is a shame really!
As far as I am aware, there is a newer version (PE12) that is now availble. Does anyone know if they have improved the functionality in terms of precise title positioning in that latest version?
    Thanks.

  • Is it possible to use FDM ERPI drill-through via Add-in Excel V11

    Hi
I am using FDM ERPI 11.1.2.1 to load data from Oracle eBS GL (11.5) to Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1.
The drill-through from Hyperion Planning to Oracle eBS GL via FDM ERPI is ok through Smartview and the data forms.
Do you know if it is ok through the Add-In Excel V11?
Thanks in advance for your help

You cannot use the Classic Spreadsheet (Excel) Add-In if that is what you are referring to.
As the other post indicates it will only work via Smart View.

  • My keyboard sound buttons no longer work in Firefox 13.1

Ever since the most recent firefox update, if I want to turn down a youtube video using my keyboard sound control buttons, I have to unselect my firefox window. Any solution for this?

hello, i think this is caused by the update of adobe's flash plugin to version 11.3 which has introduced a socalled protected mode, which apparently is breaking the transmission of hotkey input back to the operating system when flash has focus.
you could try [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071 disabling protected mode] in flash or [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 downgrading to a prior version].

  • Is it possible to add reverb to vocal mic, without affecting my keyboard sound?

    Hello,
I am trying to record my vocals and piano simultaneously. I'm using the MBox 2, with Adobe Audition 3.0. Whenever I add reverb to my vocal track (via the fx tab under my vocal track in multi track view), it affects the way my piano sounds while I am recording (it creates a delay on the sound of the keyboard while I am playing...almost like a 'bouncing note' delay). I really want to be able to hear some reverb on my voice while recording, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do it. This is how I have everything set up:
Piano is plugged in via DI on input 2 on the back of the mbox
vocal mic is plugged in via cannon on input 1 on back of mbox
If anybody could help, that would be wonderful. I've spent hours trying to figure this out with no luck. It is a lot more fun to record your singing with a bit of the pretty reverb....but my piano doesn't agree.
    Thank you
    Best,
    Jenny Jo

    Hello Brian,
Thanks for your help again. I have spent the last 6 hours running into nothing but problems. I tried your advice about recording mono in both separate tracks, and still no luck. I was using a condenser mic, and a keyboard. Both using mono, and I was using the studio reverb. I finally decided to try something simpler, just so I could at least feel a bit satisfied in getting a recording in. I set the condenser mic near my keyboard and speakers, and plugged my keyboard into the speakers. I armed the one mic track for record for phantom power, applied studio reverb, and set up the correct settings for the track by going into Audio Hardware Setup and selecting 'Asio Digidesign Driver' as the audio driver for everything. I simply wanted to play my piano, which would sound through the monitors next to me, and sing into the microphone..which would pick up my vocals with the piano in the background. The only way I could hear reverb on my voice during the recording, was by adjusting the 'mix' knob on the front of the mbox. It seemed to be working okay, and I thought I had found at least a compromise for the moment. But after saving the files, and upon listening to them...I noticed drops and rises/glitches/ in the recording volume. I then did a bunch of tests. I recorded some without any reverb assigned at all, did some recordings with the mix knob up and some with it off...I tried everything I could think of. I saved each one as a wav file, and MP3, just to see if that would affect the sound. Listening to them, they all have those same sound glitches. While doing the recordings, the sound disturbances weren't audible.
I am wondering if there is a setting that I need to fix...I am not the most savvy technical person, and am rather new to recording. Maybe the buffer size needs to be adjusted? I really have no idea...it is frustrating. I should say that I am using an MBox 2, which is supposed to be used with Pro Tools software. I had problems using Pro Tools as well, I don't think my OS is very compatible with it. Unfortunately, I have windows Vista, which I hear nothing but problems about in regards to recording. I prefer to use Adobe Audition, as I'm familiar with it, and like it.
Well, I hope this email hasn't put you to sleep. I really hope I can get this figured out, as I'm keen to record.
    Thank you again..
    Best,

Subject: Is it possible to add reverb to vocal mic, without affecting my keyboard sound?
Out of some disbelief I had to try my own setup suggestion from above, since it's not a thing I do daily anymore. Without wanting to go into any dispute with the above poster, I can only say:
    It works well here.
    Your mileage may vary.
Setting up two mono tracks with a separate input to each, I was able to record vocals with reverb from Audition in my monitoring headphones, along with recording an electro-acoustic instrument (guitar in my case) on the adjacent track with no reverb at all. I sang/tested with lots of consonants and different monitor levels and reverbs; I used the Studio Reverb, which is the least CPU intensive and recommended in the manual. There was no noticable delay, echo, what have you, which I felt disturbed my precision at all. Now I KNOW technically there is a delay/latency, but for practical purposes it isn't noticable. I've also heard some singers are extremely pecky on this, and for them there is the solution of direct monitoring and an outboard reverb added to their headphone signal. For everyone else however it works well and the latency just a theory - certainly not an audible 'echo' of any kind. With a poor soundcard and a computer low on resources latency will become evident. Also if you don't use ASIO. This type of application is why we have ASIO.

  • Is it possible to use the Apple wireless keyboard with the iPhone 6? Will the Magic Mouse work with iMovie on iPhone6 Plus?

iPhone 6 page says that iMovie is a (free) application available for iPhone 6. When I use it on the desktop I need a mouse. Should I expect all controls to be touch-sensitive, or is it possible to use the wireless Magic Mouse? Similarly, if I want to type an email or a long document, is it possible to use the Mac wireless keyboard to enter text? With the iPhone 6 Plus taking over for laptops (phablet), it seems to me that input tools are relevant. Maybe what I'm asking is whether the iPhone6 (OS8) has drivers for these devices. Please advise.

Apps that are designed for iOS devices such as the iOS version of iMovie are intended to be used entirely by touch. It's worth noting that iMovie for iOS is not absolutely identical to iMovie for Mac OS.

  • Is it possible to lock the keyboard of a client from a server using java

please explain wheterit is possible to lock the keyboard of a client from a server using java

You want to process code on one machine, and thereby lock the keyboard on another machine? No, that's not possible. It is extremely far from possible.
Of course, if the client is running software with security holes in it you might hack into it and crash the thing. This will lock up the keyboard pretty good. I hope that's not what you want ...
Or are you talking about a setup where you already have code running on the client, and some sort of communication between client and server? In that case what you need to know is whether it is possible to lock the keyboard at all. Once you have figured that out, it is trivial to add the communication code to have the server software tell the client software to lock the keyboard.
So what do you mean with "lock the keyboard"? It's pretty easy to remove/disable all keyboard related listeners in your own application. It's a lot harder (and AFAIK impossible with pure java) to disable alt-tabbing out of the application. And impossible, except from exploiting security holes, to lock the ctrl-alt-delete-combination on windows machine.

I am recording with Logic Pro X, using my Yamaha XS8 keyboard as a Midi controller. I also have a Thunderbolt Display. Every time I play and release a note on the keyboard, the Thunderbolt Display speaker emits a doink sound. What is causing it and how do I get it to stop? My sound is running through the Saffire Pro 40 Interface (Focusrite) into external speakers with powered amps.

The Mac reads the USB cable as a midi device, but not the keyboard that I am trying to use as a controller. I have tried it with my korg sp 300 and with my Nord Electro 2.
    Thoughts?

    Tristan...
This is what you have, correct?
    http://www.alesis.com/usbmidicable
    This from Alesis..
"The AudioLink Series USB cable receives and outputs MIDI signal thanks to its internal interface. The USB-MIDI Cable connects plug-and-play to your Mac or PC for an all-in-one USB-MIDI solution."
Notice, -internal interface-. What you have is a simple USB MIDI Interface. Most MIDI interfaces are USB.
My point is (was), MIDI OUT of the Korg goes to the connector marked MIDI IN on the Alesis, those new to MIDI often get this wrong.

  • I want to use two keyboards, each with a different language. Is this possible?

I work in Norway and use a Norwegian keyboard and keyboard layout for most daily activities. However, I code quite a bit and the Norwegian keyboard/layout is ridiculously inefficient for this. Is it possible to have two keyboards linked up to my iMac at the same time, one with a Norwegian keyboard and layout, and one with an English keyboard and layout?

    clevergoat wrote:
Should also note, this is of course only useful if I don´t have to use a keyboard shortcut to switch languages as well. Cheers.
Right, and that is always required.  Having two keyboards linked up is in that regard no different than just switching between Norwegian and English layouts on a single keyboard.
I have read that the app Keyremap4macbook may be able to adjust behavior depending on the active hardware keyboard.  You may want to look at that.
Or create a custom layout that gives you what you need for programming with the normal Norwegian layout using

Is there a app, or even possible to use your iPad to connect to a ps3 via Bluetooth for use of a keyboard or transferring files even.

The iPad cannot act as a Bluetooth keyboard for other Bluetooth devices and iOS does not support the File Transfer Bluetooth profiles for transferring files to other Bluetooth devices.
There are over 20 different Bluetooth profiles, and no device supports all of them. In the case of iOS Apple has included support for a small subset of the profiles.
