I am wondering if it is possible to use the Acrobat link tool (advanced editing) to link to a directory?

Actually, it is possible, depending on your version of Acrobat/Reader (in later versions it was disallowed because of security concerns).
You can try it out as follows:
- Create a Word document with a link to the folder.
- Convert the Word document to PDF.
- Open the PDF and click the link.

Is it possible when using the markup tools to make them locked in position?

I am using Acrobat 8 Pro and my boss wants to be able to draw on a PDF. which is fine when he uses the markup tools provided, the only problem is that when he has to draw something that starts and ends on a existing markup it selects the markup and moves it. Is there anyway to make it so that a selection tool has to be engaged before something can be selected, instead of automatically being able to select things once the cursor it brought over it. If you save the document manually as a PSD file in Phtoshop not from within an Action, Script, Plugin or Droplette. You may be able to write a Photoshop that would do as save as Jpeg, And you should be able trigger its execution by setting up a Script Save event using the Script event manager. When You do a manual save the script should be triggered. I wrote may be able to for I have never tried to write that script or set up a Script Manager Save event. I have only use open events.

Possible to use Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 with Safari 5?

Prior to recent installation of Safari 5, I was able to view pdfs in my browser window using the fully-featured Acrobat plug-in. Now, the only choice I seem to have is disable the Acrobat reader and use Preview.
Is there any way to get my Adobe functionality back?
Adobe tells me 9.3.2 Pro is the latest. Safari 5.0 seems to be the latest too.
I am running 10.5.8.

After considerable experimentation, I've gotten it to work, but with issues I'd like to pursue:
1. After a few quits, restarts and cache clearing, I have noticed that I cannot view pdfs (a) on websites I've created using Rapid Weaver 4.4.1 (latest) (b) if they are password protected unless (c) I have saved the username and password to my keychain.
2. All other commercial websites, protected or otherwise, that have pdfs I can download without difficulty.
3. All pdfs on sites/directories of my own creation that are not password protected download and show just fine.
Is this an issue with my Rapid Weaver pages? My web host?
I'd like to be able to log in on my laptop, enter my username and password to gain access to the site, without putting the info on my keychain, if possible.

HYPERLINKS is it possible to use "_blank" to open PDF links in new window?

When I export my PDF from Numbers '08, is it possible to have my Hyperlinks open in a new window? Possibly using the "_blank" HTML function inside the URL dialog? Right now the links just replace the PDF.

Yes, true. But there is a way (in HTML) to force a link to open in a new window by including the "target=_blank" command. I'm wondering if Apple (or anyone else) has found a way to embed this into the "Hyperlink" property within Numbers? If not, it would be nice if future versions had a check box to include this option with a link in the Hyperlink property inspector.

Is it possible to use the upgrade tool to generate SSC's anymore?

I have a hand few of really old 1130's, manufactured prior to when MICs were installed. In anycase I wanted to convert a few of them to lightweight for use in a remote location with a 4400 we have laying around. Long story short, during the upgrade process I see an error on access point. I looks like one of the airespace certs that is copied over has expired back in April of this year. After the upgrade the access point fail to join the controller. I see an error on the access point and it seems there is a problem with it accepting the certificate on the controller. I see several posts were it seems that some people are having the same problem, I have not seen a solution.
I think that if I got it to connect the first time it wold be good to go. I'm wondering if configuring the conversion tool with a date prior to expiration would get the certificate on the access point and maybe at that point it would work.

Sounds like 2 issues. First need to make sure you have ssc check boxed under allowed. Then when the ap tries to join do the following debug to get the hash for the ap cert ..

Is it possible to use external testing tools in SAP XI

Hi,
I have been working on file to file transfer of large size more than 1 GB. I have many doubts like:
1.Can I use Data compression techniques so that my files can be processsed(my scenario involves a lot of mapping)
2.Can any of the engines be stopped so that processing speed increases.
3.Can any of the third party testing tools like Load runner be used in to monitor the process.
Please help me with sloutions.

One GB is a very huge file. First of all check ur XI hardware configuration.
1. U may write ur adapter module to zip the message.
2. It wont affect the performance much if the file size is 1 GB. Also u cant stop adapter engine (File Adapter) and the Integration Engine in ur scenario
3. U can do the load testing on XI using load runner

Delay whilst using/dragging link tool

Hello, this is very annoying, I have an interactive .PDF document with small areas set aside for links to be inserted, when I select the link tool and click and drag (as per the help file "creating links using link tool") the link is created from the end drag point not where I started the drag, this is a...drag! And is very time consuming to then either re-do the link or I have to re-scale it and/or move it. I'm using Acrobat 3d version 8.
Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong? It is happening on my work colleges PC too (Acrobat 8 pro.)

You should probably ask this question on the regular User-to-User forum, as this forum is specifically for 3D issues. I have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended installed, but I can tell you that when I use the link tool, if I drag down and to the right, the upper left-hand corner of the resulting box is my start point, which is what I expect. If I drag down and to the left, the lower right-hand corner is where I started, as expected.

Acrobat stamp tool!

I have a small question to know if it is possible. In acrobat 'STAMP' tool is great option. I use often this tool. I would like to know, if there is any possibility to scale the stamp to certain value. For example I want to scale 150% current stamp. How can I do this?
currently I am scaling the stamp manually. But if there is possibility to give certain value, that would be helpful to me.
For your information: i use my own stamps (not from the default adobe). OSX 10.7.2. Acrobat X.
Please share your suggestions.

It's possible with JavaScript to add a custom toolbar button to Acrobat. When clicked, the button would execute the code that does what you want. What you want will involve some moderately complicated scripting, so it can't really be fully explained here. If you're not familiar with scripting for Acrobat, you might want to look for someone who can do this for you if you think the developement cost would be worth the benefit.
I can't think of another way to do what you want short of a custom plug-in, but that would be a much bigger project.

Using the nav bar to link to another page.

It is possible to use the nave bar to link to another page such as a blog?
Example:
Welcome About Me My Photos Blog (linked to external blog such as blogger)

If you want the link to the external page to appear in the default navbar then do the following:
1 - create a blank page and name it the way you want it in the navbar.
2 - add an HTML Snippet to that page with the following code in it:
<script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "URL TO THE EXTERNAL PAGE"; </script>
What this does is automatically redirect the viewer to the external page when the link in the navbar is clicked on.
My Demo Sites are setup this way. The Contents page for each site is redirected to a separate Contents site which contains the index of all the pages in the three demo sites. That way I only have to change the index on the Contents site instead of doing it for each site individually.
If you want the other page to open in a new window you'll have to create a separate text based hyperlink and use the Inspector/Link pane to link the text to it and check the open in new window option. If you need to have that in the navbar you can create a texbased navbar, hide the default one and set your links as needed in the Inspector/Link pane. This is a demo page of a Text Based Navbar.

Can we use SQL developer tool to READ/WRITE BerkeleyDB by any means

We use Berkeley Db as a persistent database, which holds data less frequently changed data. Can is it possible to use SQL Developer tool or any other front end tool that can connect and communicate to Berkeley db file for INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE records.

I assume you're referring to Berkeley DB SQL (BDB SQL API).
SQL Developer is not certified to work with BDB SQL; see the SQL Developer Certifications page.
Something similar was asked some time ago, about connecting JDeveloper to BDB SQL; see this Re: How connect Oracle JDeveloper 11g to Berkeley DB 11g. The SQL tools in JDeveloper and SQL Developer are similar and built on the same components, so my answer there can be extended to SQL Developer as well. While you can probably have SQL Developer properly connect to a BDB SQL database, I am afraid you won't be able to do more than just viewing the data; likely any attempt to generate DDL or DML statements, export data, or run DML statements against the database will fail.
If you migrated to BDB SQL from SQLite and were using a front-end tool for SQLite, it should be possible to use that with BDB SQL as well.

Link tool question

I'd be grateful for some help in figuring out a smarter way of working with the Link Tool.
As you will know, when you want to use the Link Tool to link an object like a button to a certain page, you are asked to scroll to it and then when you get there, click the Set Link button.
That's fine if you've only got a few links in a short document. But I've got hundreds of clickable objects (buttons) in a document which is hundreds of pages long, and each one needs to link back to page 7. So by the time I get to page 200, scrolling back to page 7 every time is going to be difficult.
So I was wondering, is there another way where I can just, say, tell it to go to page 7?

Link Tool in 3D PDF - possible?

I think I already have this question answered for myself (I think the answer is no), but I wanted confirmation from more experienced users than myself.
Is it possible to use the link tool in a 3D pdf? I have successfully linked to a 3D pdf, but I would like the ability to link from the 3D pdf to elsewhere in the document - or possible to activate a javascript command.
Here's what I have - screenshot below - a 3D pdf of a machine. I would like the ability to have the end-users of this machine, look at this PDF, click on a specific part (either in the model or from the tree on the left) and either take them to a detail drawing of the part - or initiate a "mailto". The goal here is to make it easier for customers to identify and order replacement parts.
BTW, I am running Windows 7 64-bit, and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended Version 9.4.1

Yes it's possible, but not with the Link tool (or any other UI element).
The method is to use a JavaScript event handler attached to the 3D annotation which intercepts the mouse click event. The target for that event is an array of nodes under the cursor (working away from the camera in Z-depth order) - the script must then check if the node(s) in the array match any for which you want to run a link action; and if so perform whatever jump you require.
There are several examples floating about online showing the same process in action to do things like auto-fill a parts order form based on what items you click in the 3D scene; they all use the same event handler script idea. It's not entirely trivial code and of course has to he hand-written for every file as the links are always different, but it works very well once up and running.

Acrobat 9.4 Pro - the link tool is inactive

I'm using Acrobat 9.4 Pro (English version on Windows XP SP 3 Polish version). I've noticed today an inactive link tool: the icon is gray and Tools - Advanced Editing - Link Tool command is gray too. The link tool is one of my basic tools for everyday use. My file was not restricted in any way. I've tried another files - nothings has changed. Nor a restart of Acrobat, neither a restart of Windows have had not positive impact on this behaviour. My question is: what should I do to resurrect my link tool? Any ideas? Anyone can help me?

Acrobat Pro 9 Link Tool

Hi,
I am using the link tool in Acrobat Pro to link certain parts of a pdf document and then have the pdf accessed from a web browser
The links work fine on the browser, but it want the linked document to open in a new browser window. (ie: target=_blank)
It is currently opening it up in the same browser
Any ideas how to achieve this ?
