Is it possible to use Loopback in Logic pro 9?

I try to make some goods loops with Logic pro 9, but for live events it's very bad. In mainstage there is a good Loopback, but I need to make some mixage in the same time, and I prefer to use Logic. Is there a solution to use Loopback in Logic Pro 9?
Thank's

Hi
The Loopback plugin is only available in Mainstage, & not within Logic.

  • Is it possible to use AirTunes for Logic Pro?

    Greetings fellow Logic users =)
I finally got Logic Pro and boy am I impressed! However, there's one question I have that I hope shows promise.. Currently, my monitors are connected to the Airport Express so I could listen to music through AirTunes. Since Logic is now Apple owned, I assumed it would have a similar output setting. However, I cannot find anything in the program that would allow me to stream music through AirTunes so I can mix using my monitors wirelessly. Is this a possibility??
    Many thanks =)

AirTunes is a part of iTunes, it's not an audio driver.
But you can use this to stream any audio source to an Airport Express:
    http://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/
I've used it to beam a Logic mix to a PA to check how mixes will sound, works great.
However, there will be too much latency for mixing, due to the buffering involved. As for live playing instruments - forget it.
Connect up your speakers to a proper audio interface for Logic.

  • Using Xserve as Logic Pro Node

I am curious if Xserve units may be used as nodes for Logic Pro. If it is possible, how would I accomplish it? Would there be an issue if I had an intel MacBook?
    Thank You

Well, my space is limited and if it works the way I think it can, It would make for an awesome mobile rig. It may overkill because you pay for features that wouldn't be used (or maybe I could find use it's server capabilites) but the concept of having 1u units is really attractive.
I was considering getting a Waves APA44M (http://www.waves.com/content.asp?id=1622#top) to increase processing power. I connects via ethernet just like a node would. The drawback is it can only be used with Waves plug-in. At $2400 (retail without plug-ins) it would be more logical to spend a bit more and get a unit that would host any plug-ins.
I have heard of a studio doing this. Criteria in Miami perhaps? If some has used an Xserve a node, please fill me in - especially if with a laptop.
    Thanks

  • Using iControl with Logic Pro 8 - can you assign "undo" and "click on/off"?

    Hi Guys
I know the M-Audio iControl works fine with Logic Pro 8 - the Logic 8 control surfaces manual has heaps of info on page 107 onwards about how to use the iControl.
Which is cool, because for simple remote tasks the iControl is brilliant. BUT I notice there are no "undo" or "click on/off" buttons on the iControl. Apparently (according to the control surfaces guide) you can assign different functions yourself.
Does anyone know if it's possible to assign these two features to say the "Option+Record" button and "Option+Cycle" buttons?
If anyone has any experience using the iControl with Logic, and personalising the controls, please let me know!
I have seen a cheap iControl and it might be a great solution rather than forking out for a Presonus Faderport or something more expensive...
    Thanks heaps!
    Mike

I've tried this (Mainstage) on both my home and mobile setups and there is one anomaly....
If I try to open a saved concert from the 'open recent concerts' menu item, nothing happens - However if I open a saved concert from the normal 'open' menu item, it all works as it should. Apart from that everything else 'just works'.
Obviously there is a variance between my findings and worshipvertical's, which is why I urge everyone to test for themselves to see what works and what does not.
If it works, great! You've saved a pot of money - If it does not work, I'm not sure I'd retain that much in the way of loyalty to the Logic platform, especially in view of the shorter and shorter enforced obsolescence periods that are now being forced upon us. Who knows where Apple is going next?
My opinions and findings, nothing more - or less

  • Setting up an external boot drive to only use when running Logic Pro.

Since Logic Pro must be installed on the boot drive and it takes a lot of space I am considering an external boot drive. I would only use this drive when running Logic Pro and at other times it would not be connected. It is possible to set up a Firewire 800 drive in this manner and choose which drive to boot from whenever it is connected? I’m not interested in running Windows on this computer, but I would like the option to connect a second Firewire drive to occasionally backup the Logic boot drive.
Am I better off doing a clean install of the OS on this external drive?

If you hold down [option] at start up it will show all possible Boot volumes and allow you to select the one you want.
Yes, I'd do a clean OSX install and then put Logic Pro on it.

  • Is it possible to record vocals in Logic Pro 9?

I just bought Logic Pro 9 to create music, but I was wondering if it's possible to record vocals over the music. If it is possible, how do I do that?

You've made a good point Miles. A feature they have added in both US and UK versions of cars is a thing called 'pedals'. In the UK it's a little confusing as there are 3 pedals but most people only have 2 feet, but hey!
In UK the middle 'pedal' functions as a slow-downer and the far right pedal functions as a speed-uperer. There are no short cuts to these features. In the US most cars have 2 'pedals' and most people have 2 feet, way more logical. In this case you'd want to press the left with your foot to slow you down.
I have heard that your car can go up hills but you have to configure the 'engine' properly. Once configured and the 'engine' is on, a whole new range of motoring possibilities will open up to you. The speed-uperer pedal has no effect unless the 'engine' is configured and working properly. Stumped me for ages.
Hope this helps you stick with 'car' a bit longer. Although 'boat' has it's attraction, jumping to a different platform is not always the answer.

  • Is it Possible to Disable Screensets in Logic Pro 8?

One of the disconcerting things about working with Logic Pro 8 is that, if you are trying to entire a number--perhaps in a note list--and you don't have the right field selected, Logic reacts as if you're trying to change Screensets.
I'd like to be able to do a lot of numerical entry without accidentally changing Screensets.
Is it possible to disable the number--screenset correspondence altogether?
I try to delete the Screensets, but Logic keeps making them.
I'd like to be able to hit the numerical keys, and have nothing happen if I'm in the wrong box.
    Possible? Yes? No?

It doesn't delete it if I hit delete in the Screenset window.
I figure you must mean the Key Commands window. There are a bunch of commands called Recall Screenset 1 etc. So you can delete the assigned keystroke for all of these except one (I guess Recall Screenset 1)? That's strange. Here it works fine. I can delete all of the assigned keystrokes for all of the Recall Screenset key commands.
It might be a L8 vs. L9 thing. Or there might be a problem with your preferences file. You could try a fresh one. (If you want to do that and don't know how, just ask.)
Or maybe the easiest thing is this. Instead of trying to delete that last assigned keystroke, why not just change it? You can change it to any keystroke that's currently unassigned, and that you don't expect to need for some other purpose, and that you don't expect to press by accident. An easy choice would be, say, option-1. I know that by default this keystroke is unassigned. And someday you might actually want to invoke the Recall Screenset 1 command, and option-1 would be a logical way to do that. (And you could also assign option-2 to Recall Screenset 2, and so on.)
Does that make sense? Let us know how it works out.
Keep in mind that the result is not exactly that the keystroke (say, 1) will be entirely ignored. The screen will flash. But probably this is OK with you, and certainly better than what happens now.
By the way, I think Pianoteq is great.

  • Need Recommendations on Best Used Mac for Logic Pro

    Hi --
I am running Logic 8 on a mirrored door G4 (dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC), and am starting to run into some limitations on number of tracks and plug-ins. There is a used Mac outlet near me, and I am considering doing a trade-in, but wanted to know folks opinions on what might be the best bang for my buck on a newer used Mac.
I typically run about 10-15 audio tracks, and a typical/reasonable number of plug-ins (eq, compression, reverb). I was also thinking about using a tower versus a notebook, as I am set up that way now, with my G4 isolated in a closet and cabled out to my mixing station. Fan noise from the computer is a factor, though. (Though I have put up with the noisy G4 for quite awhile!)
    Current used market includes"
    - Power Mac G5/2.0 GHz dual processor (around $1500)
    - Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Quad Core (around $2200)
    - Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Dual Core (refurb for $2000)
Assuming same RAM, any experience-based opinions on what might be a good price-performance choice? Thanks in advance.

    blayzay wrote:
To my knowledge G4 1.25 is far superior than a G5 2.0 any day except for the noise of the fan, which is way better on that G5.
    Fr.BlayZay.
As an owner of both a MDD 1.25x2 and a G5 2x2.0 I have to disagree with blayzay and say that the G5 will give you far far more DSP power than your current G4. The G4 is a good machine but the G5 is in a different league.
You might also want to be aware that the G5 2x2.0 PCI will work happily with your Powercore PCI...you will need to purchase a new Powercore card if you plan to use this with one of the Intel machines.
One other thing you should consider is that you will also have to update all of your apps & plugins if you go for one of the Intel machines. This can be a real pain if you rely on plugs such as Spectrasonics or some of the more esoteric music apps...

  • ImpOSCar - Anybody using this with Logic pro 8

I'm thinking of buying impOSCar to use with Logic. Is anybody here using this software synth? Any problems with multiple instances of the plugin? bugs / crashes etc? Demo seems to work just fine but just wanted to check before handing over the cash.

    One of my favourite softsynths.
Be sure to also pick up my (and other) extra patches from GForceSoftware.com...
    Works great in Logic.
And as a bonus, it's one of the synths that's had it's internal parameter specifically mapped for the Logic Control, so all the parameters are arranged in groups of 8, with all the related parameters together (so one group of 8 is OSC parameters, another is filter params, another is envelope params etc). This makes it one of the few synths that can quite comfortably be tweaked via a Mackie Control or anything using the same MCU protocol, and is a really nice attention to detail thing from the GForce chaps.
    Highly recommended.

  • Is anybody using macbook with logic pro ? impressions ??

    anybody ?
or do you think its a good idea to run logic on it ?
    thanks

    cool
i tried using logic with pb 12"
but couldnt have any plug ins active when recording vocals or it records crackly.
th escreen sizeis no problem, coz i set up screen sets , so f1 for 12 vocal tracks, f2 for next 12, f3 for mixer part 1, etc
click of a button to see what you want big enough, i never really need to see all the tracks in one go
i would have thought the ibook would have more problems than the pb !
but maybe your studentis just using it for midi....
    which takes no power lol....
anyone actually using a macbook with logic ?

  • HT1420 Possibility to use 1 Computer - configured with 2 user accounts - each account uses a different Apple-ID for iTunes authorization ?

I wonder if it is possible to use 1 Computer (Macbook Pro)
    - configured with 2 (ore even more) user accounts (i.e. me + my kid)
    - and each user account has a different Apple-ID (account) for iTunes purchases & iTunes authorization ?
I woud think that is fine in terms of the underlying license agreement refereing to re-download purchased movies, shows, apps, etc.
However, it seams that there is that miraculous 90 days restriction, which I don't understand, and which allows me only to "authorise" the Computer under one or the other account. The switch is unfortunatelly only possible every 90 days ?!?
    Thanks anybody for help
    Oliver

The 90 day association doesn't stop you authorising an account, it only stops you from using another account for iTunes Match or automatic downloads or redownloading its past purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
There are a few methods listed on this page for how you could do it e.g. multiple user acounts, same iTunes but you having separate playlists, separate iTunes libraries : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

  • Can Logic Pro 9 Be re-used?

I got logic pro in sept. 2011 and I haven't really used it...Can I resell it?

If you originally purchased Logic Pro 9 from the App Store, then according to the App Store Agreement/License you can install it on any number of Computers you own (or have exclusive use of) simply by going to the App Store application, select the Purchased tab and download/install Logic Pro from there.
Note: You must sign into the App store using the original Apple ID account information that you used to purchase Logic Pro 9 in the first place... to be able to redownload Logic Pro on your new computer for free.
If you originally purchased Logic Pro as part of a physical Boxed set (Logic Studio for example ) then your license agreement allows you to install Logic on two different computers (One Desktop and One Laptop) but you may only run Logic Pro on one computer at any one time. You will also need your original Serial numbers for the original version of Logic Pro you bought plus any upgrade serial numbers (say for the Boxed upgrade set from Logic 8 to Logic 9) in order to install Logic Pro on a new computer.
Note: You will not be able to download the full version of Logic Pro 9 from the App store if you originally bought the Boxed set version.. If you try to do so you will have to pay for Logic Pro again in order to suceed. However...Once you have installed Logic Pro 9 from the DVDs you can then use the App Store/Update feature to update Logic Pro 9 to the latest version for free as normal..

  • Using Apogee One with Logic Pro X- Setup Help

    Hello
    Using-OSX Mavericks, Logic Pro X
I have a lot of experience with GBand, but I am new to Logic all together. When I plug in the Apogee One to use for recording guitar, I hear the clean guitar tone coming through the output. The only issue is I cannot tweak the tones at all using Logic's built in amps (or Amplitube). All I have is the basic, clean tone that the One provides upon connecting. I just want to use the One as a guitar interface, and I am sure I am just missing a basic setting that will allow me to change the tone using the program's built in amps. I have also tried changing the knob on the One unit itself (guitar, mic, etc) Any suggestions?

A suggestion.. Yes, the Logic manual
    1. Make sure you have "Logics Audio Preferences" set up.  (see link)
    http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10/#lgcpbb81aca5
Next, you want Software Monitoring on.
And Using the software control panel that came with the Apogee you need to make sure that "direct monitoring" through the interface is disabled.  Direct Monitoring let's you hear what the audio interface is hearing, basically, your straight/clean guitar.
Software monitoring let's the signal be run through Logic but the Interface has to be chosen as the input. (see link)
Apogee may have another name for direct monitoring, some call it "low latency monitoring".
