Is it possible to use my own email within iCloud

Hi,
My primary email account is not my @me.com account (which truth be told I only use to sign into iCloud) but now that I have a desktop computer, iPad and iPhone, I'd like to be able to sync my email across all my devices. Is that possible with iCloud?

If your other account is IMAP, then their server keeps all your devices in sync - just configure the account on each device/computer.  If using POP, then configure all devices/computers to read emails but keep them on the server.  Then periodically delete them from the server.  (POP for most people is the less preferred account type.)  iCloud doesn't really enter into the equation.

I'm using their account and will continue to reset their password and settings until they either get the message or Apple do something about it and disable or migrate their account so that I can use MY OWN email address for my own purposes.
I don't want to be informed about Apple products and services for someone else on my email account.
I want to be able to use it MYSELF for iTunes
All I am asking you to do is migrate their apple ID to their alternate email account settings and free up my email address so that:
    A. I can use it and B. I stop getting messages about their account history.
Either that or just cancel their account as they have no right to use my personal details.
Yes I could set up a new email address but WHY THE **** should I? I've been using this email account for years for personal stuff, it's not mu fault if someone can sign it up as an AppleID without me being able to confirm their sign up process!
Your move Apple, make it count.

    Hi Sister Kate,
If you change the Apple ID you are using on an iPhone or other iOS device, there are several places you need to change it on the device. See this article -

  • Trouble setting up to use my own email address on a MAC

I'm on my work computer. I am trying to get set up to use Thunderbird. It will not grant me access to use my own email address (says wrong password) but I'm just now setting it up for the first time. I tried the system's administrator password and that didn't work either. I do not want to use Thunderbird as my default email client. Any ideas?

usually it is firewall or anti virus programs blocking the network connection that results is spurious incorrect password errors from the account wizard.
Given their recent adoption on MACs I now make the suggestion to mac users as well. Check both to ensure Thunderbird has full access to the internet. Disable any email anti virus scanning (it often does not understand the port probing that goes with the auto detect feature, and simply eats the results)

  • HT5621 Hi I'm using my wife's email for my apple Id but now she has got an iPhone we r both using the same one ive tried gettin my own using my own email but it keeps telling me my email is already in use how can that be????

Are you trying to set up your own iDevice and that is why you want your own Apple ID?
Do you realize that any content that you have already purchased using her ID will still have to be used if you want to update apps or download purchases again for free? ITunes and App Store content is tied to the ID used to make the purchase. Furthermore, if you use her ID to download a purchased app for free on your own device, you can lock yourself out of your ID for 90 days.
Back to the question at hand .... Did she use your email address as the rescue email address for her Apple ID?

Probably not, since those are Lion/ML items and SL doesn't have them. That's my WAG.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
No, you cannot use your own email address with iCloud. However you can use your own email address as a separate account by entering the account details in the mail application.

  • How do i use my own email address

i would like to use entourage as my default email program, but i do not know how to send mail from it with my own email? how do i set up my email address with entourage?

Who is the email account provider for your email account?
You get all account set up information including the incoming and outgoing or SMTP server for the account from your email account provider.
If this email account is not provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet, most if not all ISPs have restrictions when using an SMTP server that is outside of the ISP's network or not provided by the ISP so you need to check with your ISP regarding the required settings when using an email account and SMTP server that is not provided by your ISP.

This could be a carry over from a previous OS X. I thought this was removed in Mavericks. See if you have this option in Mail.
Open preferences, click on the RSS icon in the toolbar, set the drop down menus to "Manually."

  • How do i use my .mac email with iCloud?

I had a .mac account with mobile me which i switched over to iCloud when prompted. I just receently bought a brand new iMac and want to use my .mac email in the apple Mail program but it's not working. I'm assuming the "type" of email is iCloud. Any suggestions on how to get it up and running?

Don't try to set it up in the Mail program. Go to System Preferences>iCloud and sign in with your @me.com email address. Check Mail in the checklist there, and any other data types you want to sync.  Mail will be set up automatically and both the @me.com and @mac.com versions of your address should work.

  • SMTP woes using my own email

    Hi there
I find that when I set up an account in the IPad (not Hotmail or Yahoo but my own server/ISP mail) the SMTP setting is continually dropped. I use special ports and while it does let me set that.. once I save and leave all I have to do is go back and look and I see the Ipad changed it. So no mail sends of course. This is with the lastest update OS (as at Aug. 21 2011). Does anyone have an idea how to get settings to stay put? I find this a truly weak point in the Ipad.
    Pat

It is possible.  I send and receive email from by business website hosted at GoDaddy through my iCloud account using Mac, iPhone and iPad.  I have my iDevices setup to allow me to choose which address I reply with: [email protected] for personal stuff or [email protected] for business stuff.  It's a rather hard and tedious setup, but just be patience and slow and check your work every step.  I also reccomend having another computer with email account outside of iCloud and yoursite.com to check your work.

  • I recieved a scam email from apple. then sent me the same email using my own email account. how do I report this to apple. can't find any contact details.

hi over the past month have received maybe 5 scam emails from apple.
I opened one the other day cause I thought well maybe it is from apple.
went through the steps and it was  amazed at how well they did at copying apple website. you could even go to the apple shop page from their page!
what set me off that it was fake was that I tried to open the other apple pages along the top and it wouldn't let me. so I opened my own apple page and logged in. and realised that they don't ask for your bank details in your Apple ID account.
anyways so now what has happened is I got an email today " from myself" with this same scam email. it is as if they have hacked my email account and sending me these emails. I want to report this to apple but am unable to find any contact details apart from call back options. does any one have any advice on this.

I've had that same exact issue, I received the first e-mail claiming to be from Apple last night (though over the past week I've received two other scam e-mails from different addresses claiming that my bank transactions have been aborted). It said it was from my own address, and I checked it closely to make sure it wasn't a spoof account but found it was indeed my own e-mail address. Five minutes ago I changed my password, and I have just now received a second e-mail exactly the same, still coming from my own account. My best guess at an explanation is that it may have been sent before I changed my password and there was just a delay in the message sending, resulting in it coming through after changing my password.
I've now forwarded the e-mail on as an attachment to the [email protected] address, however this still doesn't help me with regards to stopping these e-mails. It concerns me that even though I changed my password they still possibly have access to my account. I tried checking my account activity but as opening the mail app on my iPhone is considered as a log in and I check it almost twice an hour, it's impossible to tell which could possible be an intruder logging in.

  • Using my own domain with iCloud email

I've had my own domain and email address for over a decade, and it's lasted me through a number of providers. Is there any reasonable way to use it with iCloud? It seems like iCloud is tied to a new .me email address, and it's not like I'm going to change my everyday email address to use it.
    —Andreas

    Hi,
I have found away that I think may help you.
Background as to why I use it. I have a @me.com address and Gmail but my contacts only know my Gmail account but I wanted to use cloud email so it would sync properly across all my devices, MBP, iPad and iPhone and also have the push email that the previous Mobile Me had and iCloud has now
So what I have done on my MBP is this. I use Mail.
You need to go into system preferences and select iCloud...in here turn off Mail and Notes.
Now open Mail and select preferences. Then select accounts. Delete all accounts there.
Now set up a new account by pressing the + button. After that enter the details as if you were setting up to use your Me.com account and press CREATE.
You now go to a page where you can edit all your mail settings manually. In the first section of the page you have:
Account Type - This should say -  iCloud IMAP
Description - This can be described by you to be anything
Email Address - This is the email address you want people recieving the email to see
Full Name - As it says put your name
Incoming Mail Server - If you want the mails to come from iCloud then use: p99-imap.mail.me.com
User Name: The user name of the icloud
    Password: the password of icloud
**Note** In this section you are putting in where you want the mails to come from. In this case I wanted the mails to come from iCloud so I forwarded all my mails from my Gmail account to my @me.com address, and then got iCloud to deliver them.
Outgoing Mail Server: Now this is the interesting part. I have changed this to the GMAIL server on my Gmail account. I have done this as I want my mails saved also at my Gmail account so by routing them through Gmail this happens as well as recording the sent mails at iCloud.
On iPhone and iPad you just add iCloud and then turn off mail again. Now you set up a mail account using the other option.
    1. IMAP Account Information - In here i put the information that i want my contacts to see
    2. Incoming Mail Server - I put the iCloud information
    3. Outgoing Mail Server - I put the Gmail server
So in short now, i get complete syncing of my mails across my 3 iDevices and have the extra back up of iCloud, but my clients do not see my @me.com (iCloud) email address, they see my Gmail address that I have been using for many years so there is no confusion for them.
I really hope you get all of that, this is the first time I have helped on here so am very much a newbie but it seems to be working for me.

  • Is it possible to use a DateDiff formula within a single field?

    Post Author: EarthMover
    CA Forum: Formula
I have a field that lists transaction times for the signing on and off of maintenance tickets.
My problem is that since both the sign-on and the sign-off are in the same field, I don't have the
option of using the DateDiff formula like I normally would ex: DateDiff ("Interval",startDatetime, endDateTime).
Because the start-date and end-date are in the same field, the formula returns no value.  To combat this
I believe that an IF/THEN/ELSE statement would work, if I made one for the start-date and one for the end-date.
My transaction field is using a DateTime format ex: 10/28/2007  11:58:07.  I tried making the IF portion of the statement
dependant on another field that tells me if they've signed off or on ex: ACDN or ACUP, both of these are examples of someone
signing on to a ticket,  and signing off of a ticket results in: COMP.  Based on this information I believe it should be possible to create
a conditional statement to return to the information I require. I've attached an example of what I see, at the bottom.
I've only been using Crystal for a couple of weeks now, so I'm still learning, any help would be greatly appreciated.
PROBLEM DESC TEXT    COND   TRANSACTION TIME
NEED RAILING FIXED       ACUP    10/25/2007   12:43:16AM
NEED RAILING FIXED       COMP   10/25/2007   2:35:22PM

well this is what i can think of off the top of my head to deal with your problemyou are going to need create a variable for both begin and end date and this will have to be evaluated at the group footer levelHere is the sample data i will be working withID     Condition  TimeABC  ACUP     10/25/2007ABC  COMP    10/26/2007DEF  ACUP      10/25/2007DEF  COMP     10/27/2007create a group on the unique id, this will seperate ABC from DEFnext create the formulas to strip out the begin and end dates@begin_date_init (place in group id header)whileprintingrecords;datetimevar begin_date := datetime(0000, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00)@begin_date_eval (place in detail section)whileprintingrecords;datetimevar begin_date;if left(condition, 2) = "AC" then begin_date := time@begin_date_display (place in group id footer)whileprintingrecords;datetimevar begin_date;begin_date;the end date is identical except the if statement will be if condition = COMP then end_date := timeafter you've dropped these formulas in their appropriate places in the reportsupress the detail and group header sectionsyou will see that you will see something along the lines ofABC  10/25/2007  10/26/2007DEF  10/25/2007   10/27/2007so its just a matter of creating a simple formula to calculate the diff between your 2 variables@date_diffdatediff("d", @begin_date_display, @end_date_display)this should do what you are trying to do, the layout may be different then you have pictured so you can play with it but its a starting pointswell i'm off to whistler for some R&R if this doesn't work i'm sure someone else here can try to help you figure out something that works
