Is it possible to use Sync to synchronize add-on's own data ?

Hi,
As far as I have read, Sync is able to sync browser's data (cookies, navigation history, bookmarks...).
Is Sync also able to sync one add-on's own data ?
For example, I use Brief add-on to read my RSS items, and those RSS items mix professional/personal concerns.
I would like to use my RSS items, both on work, and at home. And I want to transfer them between my work office and my home.
To do so, I need to transfer the database Brief is using.
So, is Sync able to sync the Brief's own database ?

At the moment Add-ons and web apps are not syncronized but the team is working on make sure this happens in the upcoming versions.

No, it won't work.. the Airports are not media devices.. they have no brains .. no media extensions.. and itunes must be running on a computer.
You can however watch movies from storage but not with itunes..

Synchronization between Mac and iPhone using sync services framework

I want to sync custom data between Mac app and iPhone app. In the first stage it would be sufficient to sync all data from Mac to iPhone, but I want to use sync services framework to make it extensible (just updating new data, syncing from iPhone to Mac, ...).
Are there any documents, reports, articles, examples, tutorials, books or anything where is described how to implement this?

i have an 11inch MacBooc Air ... 11 inch implies ... small hard drive.
My issue, is syncing apps starts to take a lot, and I mean a lot of space when using iTunes.
I have an IPad and iPhone ... and apps or games are now taking 1gb per app.
Is it possible to keep using iTunes to synchronize songs with the iphone/ipad and NOT synchronize the apps with the Mac.
Leaving the iPhone and iPad's apps alone ?

True, but you can simply uninstall all third-party apps you don't want and uncheck the option to install any new apps (bottom of the list of apps.) If you select the Apps library in the iTunes sidebar you can select all the apps displayed there and CTRL- or RIGHT-click to select Delete from the context menu. This deletes all but the default apps installed with OS X. When you next sync all the apps on your device will also be deleted.

Is it possible to use backup files previously copied to an external hard drive to backup an iPhone?

My sister froze her iPhone by trying to turn it off during a software update (not sure why) and restored it because she thought it would fix it. Unfortunately she unintentionally deleted all of her data and settings. She doesn't use iCloud, so I'm assuming all her files are backed up to her computer when she syncs her iPhone, but using iTunes I can only find two backup points using Edit>Preferences>Devices, both in the past few minutes. I know that each sync overrides the last backup files instead of creating newer ones, so apparently older backup files from her computer can't be used to recover her data. However, we both periodically use an external hard drive to back up our computers by basically dragging and dropping our files onto it, so there is an earlier version of her User folder on the external hard drive. It would definitely be preferable to use the backup files from a few months ago that are on the external hard drive and lose a few photos than to lose years of data, so would it be possible to direct iTunes to those backup files (AppData etc) instead of the ones saved on her computer hard drive? There's not any kind of browse option I can see that could allow me to get iTunes to search for backup files on the external hard drive and I'm not computer savvy enough to manually find the files and connect them to iTunes. Is it even possible to use backup files from an external hard drive? Do I have to replace the ones that exist on her computer now?

Garageband can't use VST plugins.
If you're talking about AUs: you could try to put an alias into the HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder instead of the actual files, and see if GB loads them.

I am looking for an example of how to use the Rendezvous synchronization object.

I can't seem to find an example that uses the TestStand Synchronization Step Types. I am specifically interested in the Rendezvous type. I am have programmed quite a few VC++ applications that use semaphores, so I am familiar with the overall idea of sync objects.

Here is a pretty good example that illustrates the benefits of multithreading over single threaded tests, and it utilizes a rendezvous to synchronize its multiple threads (see attachment to this post).

Want to use sync , with data kept on local computer instead of online

I would like to use sync between 3 computers on a wireless lan. Computer 1 = desktop, 2 = laptop, 3 = server. I want to keep the sync data on local server instead of online. I am using win xp pro on all computers, Firefox 4.0
Is it possible to set up this way?

Syncing fonts from CC is a feature of Typekit. However, fonts that you've installed manually on your system will be available in all your apps. You won't need to sync them.

After clean installing Windows 7, I can't use SYNC to restore old profile. Is it lost? Is it not also stored on firefox server/online?

iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

Is it possible to use creative cloud in more than one region. For example I live in Spain, but also spend a lot of time in the United States. Will it function even though every country has it's own pricing etc.

YEs. Once installed the programs work just fine everywhere. The only issue may be with the sync stuff and other online features, since it will try to detect your region and give warnings or errors. Turning this stuff off might help.

iCloud isn't like Dropbox. However, you can store iCloud-compatible app documents on iCloud, so in that case, you can use it like Dropbox, but you will need that app to access to your files.
If you want iCloud to store files, use another service like Dropbox or SkyDrive. They are better for that purpose. iCloud is focused on data sync between iPhones, iPads, iPods touch, Macs and PCs

Is it possible to use wildcards to match cell contents in an if statement?

I need to return a ID along with some other information on a page by page basis, so that the information comes out linked by position. I use a couple of loops and if statements to navigate through the document. I am able to use exact matches of cell contents which is fine when the contents doesn't vary. But the IDs, though they have a similar pattern, are all different. In a menu driven search, I am able to find what I need with '150^9^9^9^9^9-^9^9^9' But when I try putting this (or any number of [0-9], *, ? combinations) it fails. Is it possible to use wildcards? The symbol used for the match (==) makes me suspect that it is not possible and that only literal, exact matches will work. But I wanted to check with the experts before giving up.

Thanks for the input. You're right, a GREP search is much more efficient. But what I'm trying to do and the circumstances here don't allow me, I think, to go that route. I am trying to generate a list of values coming from several textframes on a single page and have them come out so that I can tell which values belong together.
I'm using an inherited document with masters that were created 'manually'; the index numbering for textframes and tables is random. I navigate through the pages, looping through textframe indices asking ' does this textframe exist?' If so, I ask if it is a table -- if no, it is a simple textframe and I ask about the ID, if yes, I ask if the contents of cell (0,0) (invariant position and contents) are equal to the table I want.. I am sending the ID and other pieces of information from the table to one row of a new table on a new page. So the ID and other information from a single page are linked by being in the same row.
I know this a little 'off-normal' -- I'm using the search to navigate through the document and find things by location the way you do with a spreadsheet. I have devised a work-around that helps me get around the fact that the ID is not invariant. I create a list of the (exact) IDs from another document, equating them to a variable ('a'). I then loop through the list of IDs and ask if the contents of the textframe is equal to 'a'..This works o.k, unless there happens to be an extra space, a different kind of hyphen, etc. It would be so much easier if I could use the wildcards that work in a menu-driven text or GREP search in script just to ask about the contents of the textframe.

P.S. we have since rewritten the masters so this problem will not exist in the future -- we now know exactly which textframe and/or table indices to refer to to get any particular bits of information and don't need to ask questions about the contents.
