Is it possible to zoom in on a still-photo

I have placed a photo in the timeline with the correct duration. Now I want to set a slow zooming in on that picture. This is possible in FCP 7 - but can this be done in FCP X as well?
Thanks for answer

Yes, you can do it using keying or with the Ken Burns option under the Crop area.  Click on your photo after you have brought it into the timeline then look at the Inspector window in the upper right of your screen.  If it is not visible, click the little " i " icon midway down the right border of your screen.  In the Inspector window, click the Video tab. If you scroll down in that area slightly you will see the Crop section.  Choose the Type field and select the Ken Burns effect.  You can search for Ken Burns in the manual to see how you can change the way you zoom, etc.  Best wishes.

  • In i movie, zoom in on still photo & then freeze it.  is that possible?

in imovie, i want to zoom in on a photo & then freeze it at the end of the zoom for a couple of seconds.  is this possible with imovie?

    Yes, this is possible.
I would suggest that you use the Ken Burns effect to zoom.
Next, select the photo you just applied the Ken Burns effect to, and Command-C to copy it, then Command-V to paste it. You should now have two identical photos side by side. Select the second one, and change the starting green rectangle to match the size of the ending red rectangle. Now select CROP rather than Ken Burns. That should do it.
You can also string several of these together to zoom in, stop, zoom back out for example. Or zoom in, freeze, and then pan left or right.

    No.
I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

  • How do you batch edit still photos with panning/zooming effect in FCP X?

    Hi,
I was making a slideshow with a lot of photos.  I had to manually add two keyframes in each photo (one in the beginning and one at the end), and then manually adjusted the scale/position for each photo so they pan/zoom during the slideshow.
Is it possible to accomplish the samething with multiple photos in a batch?  It would sure save a lot of time.  Thanks.
    Regards,
    Nelson

Build the effect that you want on one photo.
Right click that photo on the Timeline and choose Copy.
Select the other photos that you want to have the same effect.
Right click one of them and choose Paste Attributes.
In the Attributes dialog, place a check mark next to those you want. In the case of the effect described in your post, that would be Motion Attributes. If you had also included Filter effects such as color correction, you would check those too.

You kind of answered your own question..
Check out Motion in the FX Control Window and learn how keyframing works..

  • Is it possible to play a full playlist during photo display?

is it possible to play a full playlist during photo display?. I can play one file from a playlist during photo display, but it then repeats, rather than continuing through the full list. Anyone got suggestions?

The only options at this time are:
    1) Find a 3rd party slide show app that will do this.
    2) Put together a slide show with a presentation app that will support this.
    3) Get an mp3 file editor and 'splice' several songs together into one long mp3 file.

  • Want to know if Premiere Elements has the capability to show movement on a still photo? Such as zoom

I am thinking of purchasing PE 12 if it has the capability to take a still photo and move the camera around on it like many videos I have seen.  I am currently using PE 9.  Thanks for any help on this subject.

What are you doing in Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Are you keyframing the Motion properties of Scale (for Zoom) and Position (for Pan) to get a pan and zoom effect?
    or
Are you using the Edit Header/Effects/Presets and one of the presets for a pan OR zoom effect (the Presets allow for only a pan per picture or a zoom per picture but not a pan and zoom per picture).
    or
Have you been using the Elements Organizer 9 Slideshow Editor to create a slideshow with the pan and zoom feature there and then transfer the Elements Organizer 9 slideshow to Premiere Elements?
If it is the Premiere Elements 10, 11, or 12 Pan and Zoom Tool that is making you think to laterversion than 9.0/9.0.1, perhaps the following Adobe document may give you more information on that.

  • Zooming in on a still image

    Hello,
I have followed many tutorials from the net and although I have been able to achieve a zooming in effect on a still, it isn´t exactly that. Instead the whole image becomes bigger and bigger giving a false sense of a zoom in - the still comes towards us filling up the canvas.
An example is this excellent and simple tutorial, where the boy is zoomed in on, but stays within the grey border:
    http://www.rippletraining.com/movies/Free%20Downloads/motionkburns_redux960.mov
If anyone has any advice on how I can get it right I´d be very grateful.
    Many thanks.

+so we don´t see the whole of the picture getting bigger....+
+Because the image in your link already fills the screen at its initial size. As it is zoomed, the outer regions of the image go offscreen.+........
Unfortunately this is exactly what wasn´t happening with mine, which also fills the screen at its initial size.
In case anyone else ever has a similar question this is what I did to get what I needed -
Perhaps the problem lay in that the stills are almost square....? ( which I had carelessly forgotten to mention. ) I have them at 2880 pixels wide x 3024.
I did the zoom effect on the still first and then exported it from FC as a QuickTime movie, using Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920 x 1080 50i. ( matching the HD project ) Then I imported it back into the sequence and using crop in the motion tab in the viewer, cropped it a little left and right, aligning it with the borders of the rest of the still images, and thereby getting the zooming in to take place within the constraints of their size. In other words, as the zoom happens ( as the image grows) the edges now do go behind the canvas.

  • Is it possible to lock individual app like messages, photos etc without jailbreak in io8....?

Is it possible to lock individual app like messages, photos etc without jailbreak in io8....?

No third-party app can do what you want as those apps do not have access to iOS as a whole. They are (for the most part) sandboxed, and cannot directly access other apps.

  • Is it possible to add a caption on each photo of my album ? Thank u

    Hello,
Is it possible to add a caption on each photo of my album Iphoto ? Thank you for your help.

By album do you mean a book? If you mean a book then the answer is only if you use the one theme that provides a text box for each photo, Folio, which only has a 2 photos per page layout.
If you want to add text directly on the photo you would need to use a 3rd party image editor or a watermark application.
Some Image Editors that support  layers:
    Photoshop Elements 9 for Mac - $79
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    Portraits and Prints - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free
For watermarking apps go to MacUpdate.com and search for "watermark" to get a list of possible candidates.

Is it possible to download a previous version of Photo shop (ie. cs4 or cs5)? I purchased Photo shop CC for my windows computer but when I attempted to download it to my mac I was told that my computer does not meet the system requirements.

I don't know your OS, but I'll assume Snow Leopard 10.6.8  In which case Photoshop CS6 would be the best especially if you have a cloud membership like the Photography Plan.

    Yes, it is.
The easiest way for me is access the custom shape tool,  and within that the Symbols library. You will find the copy right sign. Just drag it out. It will be on its own layer. Enter the rest of the info with the Type tool.
The symbol can also be found in the character map on a Windows system.
If you have multiple photos that you wish to mark, it is very efficient to make a copyright brush and apply  with a  click of the mouse.

  • Still photo "zoom" through motion

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a "memories slideshow" consisting of still photos that zoom in slowly. I'm encountering a couple problems that I'm hoping to get help with:
    1) When zooming in by setting keyframes in each clip's motion tab, I find that it's difficult to get each photo to zoom in at the same speed and direction. Is there a shortcut to doing this easily? I guess the effect I'm aiming for is similar to what iPhoto does automatically with an album slideshow, just more controlled. (Is there any way to just do this from iPhoto and adjust the settings for each clip's duration and zoom?)
    2) When I zoom in I find that the images become very blurry, although they are less so when viewed in the program I used to scan them (Lexmark Imaging Studio on a PC). I scanned the images at 300 DPI and saved them to JPEG. I realize these settings may not be optimal - what DPI and file format are recommended if I want to zoom in to, say, 5x?
    Thanks.

Speed of a move is dependent upon the length of of the move. A move set up to do the "same" thing will be faster if there is a shorter duration between the keyframes. if all of you photos are the same size and aspect ratio, set one up to your liking then save that as a Motion Favorite, then you can apply that to them all. And there is no way to take info from iPhoto and adjust in FCP.

300dpi is high for video. Video is 72dpi. But a higher dpi scan means you can zoom further in without the image breaking up. If they are blurry... have you rendered the move? They should look better when rendered.
Doing still moves is a difficult task. If you search the forum you will find many topics on the issue that will provide valuable tips.

  • Is it possible to import a file containing 300+ photos into PE10 at one time?

I have a file on my hard drive that I want to import into PE 10. Is it possible to import a file containing 300+ photos into PE10 at one time? I can only find a way to import photos one by one.
Is there an easy way to send these photos to Blogger?
    Thanks.

File >> get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders
Then navigate to your folder and press (Ctrl+A) to select all and click Open or Get Media.
If blogger has an upload window try dragging a dropping directly from the folder into your web browser.
