Is it possisible to play image sequence in DIAdem Clip at a defined frame rate?

Dear all:
I have acquired quantities of image sequence of several mouse subjects for behavioral analyzing. It is possible to play the image sequence in DIAdem Clip at a defined frame rate without building a video file? if yes, how.

  • Frame sequence to quicktime ends up with freeze frames at end

I'm just using Compressor 3.5.0 to convert animation file sequence (24fps) into quicktime Proress422HQ (23.976fps). Any settings end up with freeze frame at the end of clip. I've tried 24fps to 24fps and still got same problem. Being curious, I've tried to convert to MPEG4, and still got the same problem. Originally the source format is PNG sequence, and I've convert the PNG into TIFF for test purpose. Still no luck. Does anyone ever experienced the same problem? Thanks for sharing.

Solved by changing the frame rate of the footage (image sequence) into any other frame rate, then change back to desired frame rate. In my case, after load the image sequence >check inspector of footage >change current frame rate (from 24fps to other fps) >change back frame rate to 24fps. Same bug in version 3.5.2. Hope it helps.

  • Very poor Playback of imported image sequence

    Hello,
I really tried to work around this problem but I'm resigned to see that premiere pro seems to handle very bad the playback of imported sequence of numbered stills.
I began with premiere elements. I imported my footage as image sequence (from 3dsmax), and saw that the playback was poor. It seemed to be playable after background rendering was finished, but BG rendering is soooo long due to an issue with nvidia hardware. So I'm forced to disable BG rendering, but the problem is that the sequence go unplayable again, etc, etc.
I decided to install premiere pro cs5 trial to test, thinking that it will definitively fix the problem,
but... same poor, almost unusable playback with numbered stills.
I have a strong hardware (dual xeon 5650, quadro 4000, 48gb ram), so I think it's not the cause.
I disable my antivirus while using premiere.
Video sequences (avi, mov, etc), play smoothly, but when you work with CG 3D footage, you always export in image sequences, and I want to be able to edit my footages in premiere, as compositing softwares aren't built for the same kind of tasks.
After effects plays images sequences very smoothly, so why not premiere?
I did convert my image sequences to avi or mov uncompressed, but even with no compression, there's a significant loss of quality, and I want to avoid this loss to be able to edit my footage and output my final video based on the best image quality possible.
    Thank you for answering

You did not mention your disk setup.
Playing back numbered image sequences at high resolution is
probably the most disk IO intensive thing you can ask Premiere to do.
Without a dedicated RAID controller and multi-disk setup, you will likely be
forced to timeline preview render all your image sequences for real time playback.
After effects plays images sequences very smoothly, so why not premiere?
AE will not play image sequences in real time until you render a RAM preview.
I did convert my image sequences to avi or mov uncompressed, but even with no compression, there's a significant loss of quality...
There will be no loss of quality if you use a lossless codec for your
digital intermediate file (i.e. Lagarith or UT), and these uncompressed files
will play smoothly in Premiere without needing to render timeline previews.

  • Image Sequence Settings in QT Pro - what is the Frame Rate range available?

I am considering purchasing QT Pro for Windows. I wish to make a time lapse movie out of a series of pictures. I would like to know what the range of options is for the "Image Sequence Settings" in File->Open image Sequence... menu. Does is it go well beyond 1 second?
    Thanks!
    Chris

Frames rates are from 10 seconds per frame up to 60 frames per second.
I make many image sequence movies and just start with one frame per second.
I then "add scaled" to a properly timed audio only file. This way you can get nearly any frame rate you could ever need.

  • Force start frame number in image sequence render

I have a 900 frame comp rendered to a numbered image sequence.
After applying a revision to frames 250-300, I would like to render
only those frames, overwriting the originals.
    I have tried:
Under >Render Settings, "Work Area Only", with "Skip existing files" off.
This renders the correct frames as designated by the Work Area Bar,
but the frame numbering begins at 1 instead of 250.
Under >Render Settings, "Custom", with "Skip existing files" off.
In the Custom fields, I specify frames 250-300.
This renders the correct frames as designated by the Custom setting,
but the frame numbering still begins at 1 instead of 250.
Using both of the above settings, I have also tried to "force" a start frame
in the Output Module by manually entering "filename_[00250]".
The result is a new 51 frame sequence starting with "filename_[00250]_00001".
How can I get a partial render to overwrite the correctly
numbered original frames in an image sequence?

I have figured out what I was doing wrong.
I turns out that you can indeed force a start frame
number in the Output Module, but I was using it incorrectly.
Instead of having "Use Comp Frame Number" checked,
I had specified a starting frame number (1 - the first frame of comp).
The result is that regardless of what specified segment I rendered,
the output frames always were numbered starting with frame 1.
After checking "Use Comp Frame Number", problem solved.
Thanks for the input in helping me track down my error.

  • PDF image sequence only shows first frame

Does anyone else have a problem with this? I am trying to make a simple looping two-frame vector animation. Without converting to video or pixels (I need this to stay flexible), what are my options?
I've tried making the layers turn on and off with a square oscillation, but I can't figure out the correct speed for on-one-frame-off-the-next :/
    Any tips?

Changed it to four digits and nothing. Previewing the image sequence in the browser shows the second frame as flashing white :/
Here are the images in question:

  • Reassembling still image sequence

    Hello All
My objective is to create a video image where a person is walking along and the background changes from one scene to another. I have used HD footage, exported still image sequence, cut the background out of each frame in photoshop, imported back into FCP then reassembled/exported in SD PAL to DVD.
This all works OK but I have trouble keeping the edges of the person (still images) clean after being cut out. Have used colour key and Matte Choker in FCP to soften edges which improves the result but could be better. I have tried green screen but still have the same problem of keeping the edges clean and consistent. The footage only goes for a few seconds.
    My questions are:
1-is this workflow OK? any suggestions to improve on it?
2-should I be using another program to reassemble the footage?
3-exporting at 25 FPS then deinterlacing in Photoshop then importing back into FCP, is that OK in regards to creating a good final image.
    Thanks for your assistance.
    David

HDV would be an awful choice for keying (some just say it's an awful choice period).
To do what you want to do properly, you need to get a well lit greenscreen with your person walking in front of it and record it using an uncompressed format. FCP's keyer isn't bad, but there are a lot better. Keylight plugin in After Effects is one. Or Shake also has the KeyLight keyer...

  • Compressor 3.5 and Importing Image Sequences

    Hi,
    The marketing says,
    ++++++++++++++++++++
    Image sequence support
Graphics compositing applications and film workflows often use an image sequence format for cross-platform compatibility as well as to keep quality high. Image sequences treat each video or film source frame as a still image.
Compressor 3.5 imports image sequences in standard formats including TIFF, Targa, DPX, and OpenEXR. You can specify an audio file to incorporate with the image sequence as you import it — for example, the original field-recorded audio for a clip that was converted to a sequence.
    ++++++++++++++++++++
But exactly how is this done with Compressor 3.5? Don't see it in the wizard or Add File dialogue boxes.
    thanks!

    Oops, just found it.
Job > New Job With Image Sequence...
However, I can import a SGI file on it's own, but not with the above menu selection - the files are gray'd out.

  • Use smartphone camera in labiew for timed image sequence - No need to stream realtime

    Hi all.
I'm working with labview 2009, vision acquisition,  and an android smartphone (I have several models).
What I would like to do:
    - Grab a timed sequence of images with the smartphone camera and save them into the pc. I have a "schedule" (e.g. image 1 at time 0:01:123, image 2 at time 0:01:876, image 3 at time 0:02:464 ....) and I would like to shoot an image at every predefined time and save it in the pc. The time interval between two images is always higher than 500 ms. During the acquisition the camera is moved by a pan tilt unit. I just have to store images for postprocessing, I don't need live feed.
    What I have already done:
    - Connected  the camera to labview (with IP webcam following these http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3D9CEA3E7B26FA4586257A56004E4507)
    - Created a labview VI where i have the time schedule
    - Tried to use some example VI to grab images
    What happens:
    - The camera has a poor frame rate (max 10 hz) and looks like is not able to focus fastly while moving and acquire the images in time. I must be sure that when I choose a time the image should be acquired. I don't need high frequency acquisition, but I need precise timing.
    What I don't really need:
    - I don't need the streaming video. Therefore if there would be a different system architecture where I don't stream a video but I just send to the phone a command and the phone gives back to the pc a single image that would be the best solution for me.
I thought that this could maybe feasible with android devices but I have also windows phones if needed.
Thanks a lot for your help.

    Dear Licia,
thanks for your answer. I'm using labview 2009, as you can read in the first post.
The result are described in the section "what happens", what I'm asking is in the same post just two lines below.
Maybe it is not clear, so I'll try to explain better.
I already tried the solution linked with ipcamera and labview, the results are not really good, I would like to have something better. I did not mention it in the previous post, but with the same vi (like snap o grab vi, as you suggested) and another usb camera (not a smartphone one) if have a higher framerate that leads to better results.
Anyway the main issue is that the ipcamera+mjpeg streaming solution is based on a thing that I don't really need (video streaming) so I'm asking if it is feasible a completely different approach where I can just shoot and transfer images without streaming.
This is the real core of the sentence.
    Thanks again

  • Help with sequence settings in final cut for project with 2 different frame rates.

I really need help with this one! I finished editing a wedding video and realized after exporting that it was filmed in two different frame rates. This has happened before but I converted the footage to match and fixed the problem. In this case, the footage is part 30fps and part 60fps. The majority of it was filmed in 30fps. I cannot convert the 60 to 30 without the slow motion effect which I do not need so I have to find a way to burn this to a DVD without it looking messed up! The video was shot with two Canon 7ds if that helps anything. The first sequence I set at 29.97 and exported as a quicktime movie and all the footage filmed in 60 looked perfect and the footage in 30 looked jittery. Then I tried the sequence at 59.97 and it switched. The footage filmed at 30 looked good and the 60 was cropped in. I am so confused! Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for your help Michael! The frame rates are 29.97 1920 x 1080 and 59.94 1280 x 720. I did a control click on the clips in final cut and viewed the item properties/format to find this info. The Canon 7d is a DSLR but we use it for video. As for my workflow, the first thing I do is import the footage onto my computer and then drag the clips into mpeg streamclip. I choose apple prores 422 and uncheck the interlaced box. Once this is done I import the .mov files into final cut. The sequence automatically sets itself to whatever clip I drag in first so it originally set as 29.97. When I finished editing wedding video, I export it to a quicktime movie and choose whatever settings match the sequence, in this case apple prores 422 1920 x 1080 30p. Once that is done I use iDVD to burn the discs.
I knew something was wrong when I watched the quicktime movie and all the 30fps footage was jittery and most of the cross dissolves looked strange. That's when I figured out the footage was at two different frame rates. What I don't understand is why whatever the sequence is set at in final cut, the clips of the opposite frame rate look right but the clips set at the matching frame rate don't???

  • Playing a movie clip in a simgle frame

I'm making a flash gallery of several different animations,
each being in one movie clip. I was wondering if there's a way to
make a whole, say, 1000 frame movie clip play in a single frame on
the main timelime, and how it would be done. (assuming that the
main timeline frame has the actionscript to make the movie stop)
I'm kinda new to actionscript and all, even though I've been
working with flash for a while, so it would be a real big help for
    this project and future ones.
    -EDIT-
I'm using AS2 for this project.

It helps to realize that even the main timeline is a
    MovieClip instance.
MovieClips play independently of one another, and can be
    nested. So if you
just take your 1000 frame clip and place it on a frame (any
    frame will do)
it will play - so long as the play head of the parent clip is
    on that frame.
And you said you have a stop(); on the main timeline, so I
    assume it is. So,
like kglad said, just put the clip on stage...

  • Frame Rate Error playing back h.264 encoded files in QT

I originally posted this in the FCP HD forum, but was told that I might be able to get help here.
I really like the h.264 codec, but I have to use Quicktime Conversion, instead of QT Movie, when I export in FCP. I get a 'Codec Error' when I try to export as a QT Movie. That is the first problem, but I work around it.
The frame rate issue comes up when I try to export at larger screen sizes like 640x480. I have no problems at 320x240, but when I move up to the larger screen sizes the resultant QT mp4 plays back at 1/2 the specified frame rate, no matter what frame rate I try. It is really bizarre.
I tried lowering the key frame number to reduce the processor load on playback, but this had no effect. This was a tip I picked up here.
I tried lowering the bit rate, too. The only thing that 'fixes' it is to go back to the lower screen size.
The problem is reproducible when the file is played on other (faster) computers.
    Any ideas?
    thx
    mike

Open an H.264 video codec file on two machines (one of which is more powerful than your current one) and compare the data viewed in the Movie Info (Command-i) window.
QuickTime, by design, drops frames to insure playback. You'll see the same issue when viewing any HD movie trailers. I get poor frames rates from anything above 480.
Newer HD (1080i) videos may play at less than one tenth of the designated frame rate on older machines even though they use data rates that should (technically) supported.
Blame it on advances in computers. I remember 90X60 "videos" at 8 frames a second that would "stall" during playback. Now we all want HD movies.

  • New image sequence will not play back in real time.

I built a image sequence of 300 stills (jpegs) and when I ask it to build it at 30fps I can't get quicktime to play it back at that speed. I can barely get the software to play back at .25fps. I just bought the software to assemble consecutive stills from my DSLR and after spending 2 hours on the phone with apple I found out they offer no support for windows users. Is there another software out there that anyone could recommend that edits together stills to form a movie. Any Help is appreciated.

Premiere is showing multiple drivers, including an old Creative ASIO driver... but I ran a cleaner last year to remove it (not sure why Premiere is still listing this??).  I also have a Matrox MXO2 LE Max installed, which I believe installs an audio driver as well.
I'm not sure what you mean by "check with system default"?  There is nothing in the Premiere audio hardware preferences that mentions a "default" of any kind.
Again, this makes absolutely no sense as I've not had any issues for years and worked on this last night... turn on computer today and suddenly it won't play audio in Premiere?!
Anyway, in my audio hardware preferences:
    - I have always had Adobe Desktop Audio set to Premiere Pro WDM Sound.  The dropdown list there gives me the options of: Premiere Pro WDM Sound, Xonar Essence ST ASIO 64 (my audio card), Creative ASIO, Matrox ASIO Driver for Premiere Pro.
    - Map Output for has always been set to Adobe Desktop Audio (Matrox Player is my other choice).
    - Even when selecting Premiere Pro WDM Sound, it always displays the Speakers below as "Speakers (ASUS Xonar Essence ST Audio Device)"
One further note (not sure if it helps)... as I said, Premiere is showing the audio levels, but if I look at the Windows desktop sound it doesn't show any levels (it normally does).  And again... sound is working in every single other program I've tried... INCLUDING Adobe Audition (which has some of the same settings showing as Premiere does!).
So this is definitely an issue within Premiere... I just don't know what else to do.  Thanks for assisting!

  • Is there a way to continue an image sequence after a full screen video has played?

Any help with this would be really appreciated

Assuming the video is auto-play, you can put the video in the first state of an MSO, and then put the image sequence in the second state of the MSO. Then set the MSO to auto-change with a duration that equals the length of the video. This works if your video is shorter than the max auto-change duration we allow.
Having said that, this is a pretty bad idea from a performance perspective if your video and MSO are the full size of the screen. You'll force the app to load a ton of content into memory and performance will suffer.

  • Bug: QT Pro fails to properly play PDF image sequence?

    Hi folks,
I have a series of numbered PDF files that represent an animation. I can open these files as an "image sequence" with QuickTime Pro, but then the resulting movie seems corrupt. Only the first frame renders properly, and the remaining frames are white, sometimes with some garbled information from the PDF. (I'm using the latest version of QT Pro.)
Is this a known limitation? Should QT be able to open a sequence of PDFs properly?
I know that as a workaround I can rasterize the PDFs first, but this isn't really what I need. The eventual goal is to get this animation into Motion, so keeping the vector graphics as vectors for as long as possible is important. Also note that directly importing the image sequence into Motion produces the same problem, so I suspect that this is a QuickTime issue.
    Any thoughts?
    Zach Pincus
    powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I believe QuickTime will only show page 1 of a single PDF, I'm not sure if that applies to multiple single-page PDF's within a single mov file though.
    http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2001/qa1247.html
So they are saying that if imported as a movie it can display multiple pages, if brought in as a graphic it can't.
Instead of importing as an image sequence, you could open each pdf in QT Player, select all, copy, paste into the final movie (or seperate movies which you could then import) and hopefully you would end up with movies of multi-page pdfs instead of single page pdf graphics. What a mess.
