Is it really either gap, or continous track?

I've looked over all of the song gap discussions, importing albums as one continous track is really not an option is it? But that song gap that itunes installs drives me nuts! I've read that itunes 5.0 did not add the gap, is this true?
This is meant to be the smartest computer company in the world, haven't they ever listened to their own product?
If anyone has sussed out how to get rid of gaps, lemme know, Cheers, Evan

if you're just talking about in itunes turn on the cross fade. It's in preferences under playback tab.
if your're talking about in the ipod then yes there is nothing else you can do.

  • Filling gap in video track

This is pretty lame but I have forgotten the shortcut to close a gap in the video track by moving all the clips behind it forward. Moving each clip to close the gap is, of course, a pain.
    Any help?

Man, you gotta be careful locking tracks and then making any changes. Many's the time I've done this only to find all sorts of things out of synch downstream. Now I never lock anything--it's too risky.
If you have a gap in your track, hold down the control key, put the arrow tool (the "selection tool") on the gap, and hold down the mouse button. Some options will pop up. One of them is "Close Gap." That will snap the gap shut, as long as there is nothing overlapping the gap on either the video or audio tracks.
Another way to shut the gap, even if there are things on other tracks overlapping the gap, is to choose the "Select All Tracks Forward" tool--the one with one arrow above the other pointing to the right (hitting the t key four times will choose it), and then click that tool just to the right of the gap to select everything on all tracks from the gap on down to the end. Then you can slide everything on that side of the gap forward to close the gap. (If you have "Snapping" turned on while you do this, the clips on either side of the gap will snap together when you push them close enough. That way, you won't accidentally overlap them. If you do overlap them, and start losing control, just let go of everything and choose "Undo" from the Edit menu (or Command-Z on the keyboard), and then try again. Whenever I start making a mess I just stop everything and choose "Undo."

  • Gap in "gapless" track when "repeat one" in use

I have some short tracks meant to be played on an infinite loop -- babbling brook sound and such. As you can imagine, though these sound fine when played in a truly seamless loop, if there's even a small gap when the track repeats, they sound horrible.
The tracks play just fine in iTunes -- no gaps, seamless, perfect. But when played on my iPod Classic, there's a brief gap when the track repeats. Just a fraction of a second glitch, but it's enough to change the effect from relaxing to horribly jarring. Unusable, in short.
Is this a known iPod bug, or is there something I can do to fix it? (Yes, I have considered taking the short tracks and dup'ing them a few hundred times in a sound editor to create one big truly gapless music file with lots of repetitions, but that seems like a very ugly hack.)

The term "gapless" when referring to the iPod is usually understood to mean no gap between one track _and the next_ , and so expecting the iPod to manage gapless transitions when repeating the same track is probably asking a bit much of it. Perhaps someone else reading this may disagree...
By the way, I believe that the iPod's gapless feature is designed to work as follows: when you select "crossfade playback" (in iTunes, Edit/Preferences/Playback) each song is faded into the next - except for any albums marked as gapless. (I have not actually tried crossfade playback yet, but I have read about it in other posts.)
You could always try the crossfade playback and see what happens, but I think your ugly hack may be the only answer! Actually, one last thought, how long are these short tracks? The Classic iPod models must buffer the output from the hard drive to the headphones (again, I'm sure someone will disagree ) and if the track is very short, the buffer may not have time to find the start of the track before it finishes. Do you get the gap if you let the track play through to a third time?

  • What is the differnce between Blue,Purple and Orange Audio Tracks. Can you convert either to Green Midi Track?

What is the differnce between Blue,Purple and Orange Audio Tracks. Can you convert either to Green Midi Track?

Are you asking about Garageband? Your signature also mentions Logic, but I have never worked with that.
    Concerning Garageband:
Real Instrument regions from your recordings are purple.
Real Instrument regions from Apple Loops are blue.
Regions from imported audio files are orange.
Software Instrument regions from recordings, loops, and imported MIDI files are green.
So far as I know you can convert software instrument loops to real instrument loops, but not real instrument loops to software instrument loops.

  • Moving clips and closing gap across all tracks - premiere4

HI, I have multiple clips spread across 3 tracks. There are gaps between clips that I want to make shorter - but still leaving black or empty sections. I cannot find a way to move a clip to the left so that all clips on all lanes to the right (ie afterwards) move along with it whilst keeping their relative postions vertically.
I can see how to do this by selecting everything to the right but this would be incredibly tedious. I want to be able to, say, grab a clip on track 3 at 45secs, drag it to 43 secs and all the clips on tracks 1 and 2 and 3 etc also move 2 secs to the left.
    Any hints?
    thanks, Greg

I have run some tests and still not getting the behaviour I want.
I started a new project and inserted three clips - one clip to each of video tracks 1, 2 and 3. I ctrl+drag the video 3 clip to the left and the other two clips (tracks 1 and 2) move but do not keep their positions relative to the track 3 clip. Instead they advance just by the length of the moved clip. This means that the length of any gaps between clips is not preserved.
The outcome can be that clips that were not overlapping are now overlapping, or clips that had a small gap between them now have a large gap.
I would really like to be able to keep the relative position of the clips when I move a single clip along the timeline.
    thanks, Greg

  • Mastering but losing my mind with a "gap" between 2 tracks which shouldn't be there. What is wrong?

I have an album which I've been working on for a while and it's now all finished with the exception of one small glitch...
Throughout the album I have a around 4 overlapping tracks, when burning the tracks to a disc, 3 out of 4 of the tracks crossover into the next track perfectly. 1 of them doesn't...
My 1st method: Paste the 2nd Track over the end of the 1st Track, then cut the 2nd overlapped track and paste back over the original 2nd track, whilst saving over the now shortened 1st track... ( This, whilst not a great method, has never failed me in the past and worked on the the other overlapping tracks).
So I realised this wasn't a great method so then tried method 2.
My 2nd Method: Drop all the mixdowns into one waveform (in Edit view), and create Markers using the Marker List and F8, so that each track starts bang on the next .001 of a second.
Again, for 3 out of the 4 this was fine, but for the other... I can still her the tiniest click!
It's a click the listener will not notice, but it's a click that is killing me because the label putting out the CD is on me to get the final mix to them, but I won't submit it until this click has gone.
    Things I should note:
    1. When played in Winamp, there are no clicks. This is ONLY when burnt to a disc.
    2. I've used Adobe Audition 3.0 to burn the audio disc with no silence between tracks.
    3. I've also used Nero to burn the audio disc with no silence between tracks.
    4. I've used multiple computers/dvd burners to test this.
    5. I've used multiple brands of CD-rs.
    6. I'm very sure that there is not an actually cilck on the waveform.
    7. This is the 1st track leading into the 2nd track (I'm aware there is a 2 second gap before the 1st Track)
    8. I've played the burnt CD-r on my PC, my DVD player, my Computer at work, my car stereo.
Please help me with this, it's driving me nuts as I've worked very hard and perfected the thing, and need to submit it very soon.
Is there any software you would reccomed to split tracks which I should try?
    Thank you!

CD tracks should not be starting on the nearest .001 of a second but 1/75 of a second. The CD standard is 75 frames per second. If tracks do not start on the nearest 1/75 of a second the audio will be filled out to the nearest one causing clicks at the junctions. Make sure that the Display Time Format is set to Compact Disc 75fps and that Snap to Frames is turned on.

  • Really basic help needed bouncing tracks to mp3

    Hi
We have been working on some new music in MIDI format and really would like to have them available to play on our ipod. I have read the manual on bouncing to mp3 format. However I have 2 problems.
    1) Some tracks don't even allow my to bounce to mp3. When I try to select file>Bounce, I cannot select it as it is not available and is the light grey colour of unavailable items.
    2) The tracks that I have been able to bounce have no sound when I play them back in itunes or quicktime player.
What do I do to fix these two problems. Thank you for your help.

Hi and welcome to Logic Express,
First of all: Bouncing is usually done by bouncing from the Master Output Channel. You should see a small Bounce Button (Bnce) below the Fader (look to the left in the Inspector window - there are 2 Channel Strips. The Left is for the selected Track and the right one usually is the master Output (Out 1-2). Or you can select Bounce from the File Menu. Only Output Tracks can be bounced! You can't bounce individual tracks, but have to route them to an output. Usually, this routing is on by default, so if you didn't change it, it shouldn't worry you.
See if none of your tracks are muted and if you can actually play back the entire project and hear the desired result in Logic. If so, hit the bounce button below the master output (1-2) fader.
The second step is to select the right method of bouncing. There should be a popup menu now asking you about filename and so. Enter the desired filename and maybe another folder. If not, Logic names it Output 1-2.mp3, which isn't that bright. To the lower left, u should see some available file formats. Check mp3 (this is important!) first. Also select offline bounce, if not checked. Check if "normalise" is activated. If not, activate it.
Now, the options change to allow some mp3 specific tweaks. Use the ones you like. I use about 160kbits for stereo, normal stereo mode, and tweak all the ID3 Tags as desired. Also check "add to itunes library".
Now, before you bounce, check if the start and stop marks of the bounce are actually the same that you want them to be. Sometimes they snap to the last marked region, which isn't neccesarily the correct song length. I messed up some bounces before i got this right.
If everything looks good, hit bounce. Logic should bounce, normalize and convert to mp3 now. Wait some seconds for iTunes to get the song imported. There you are. If not, ask again

  • Forms sent by email are not coming back to either my email or Tracker.

I have a number of people who review products for me and I create review forms for each product in Acrobat XI Pro (WIN). I distribute the forms, via email, to sets of individuals.  They have been filling them out and Submitting them. Mnay have followed up to confirm that I have gotten their response but it is nowhere to be found, not in my Email Inbox or Tracker.  I did this for years in IX and never had a problem.  Ideas, thoughts, suggestions?  All are welcome.  Thanks so much.

How do you figure this is a Thunderbird problem? Thunderbird hands the email off to your providers SMTP server and then it is done. It has no control over what the servers that the message pass through do with it.

  • Really weird problem with Usage Tracking!

    Hi guys
We are running OBIEE 11.1.1.6.5 on Exalytics and allmost all is fine and dandy. We have though one weird problem. When we first enabled usage tracking, we sudddenly got some errors on some of our dashboards, saying that we didn't have the privilegies to create temporary tables. Allright we got our user (which is a shared user) the privilegies to create temporary tables, and the reports with the problems started working again! Awesome! But low and behold - then Usage Tracking stopped working, not a single mentioning in the logfiles about it. Maybe an error or, the acknowledgement that Usage Tracking has started, which is the normal.
So basically we are running without Usage Tracking because the reports that gives us the problems are deemed more important... which they might be, but thats different story...
Any ideas to what is going on here? We have collected Usage Tracking data, while the reports were broke, so im quite confident that the setup is correct. But why would it stop, when giving "create table" privilege to our shared user?
    Best regards, Jacob

What is the setting for UsageTrackingDirectInsert?
Have you tried chaging the output to file instead of database?

  • Can the iPad 1 really only handle 3 audio tracks?

Whenever I put in more than 3 tracks in GarageBand, it instantly crashes. Is the measly 256 MB of RAM for the iPad 1 only enough to pull 3 audio tracks? I can sometimes add a 4th track, but as soon as I mess around with any kind of settings it crashes.
I just had to get my question confirmed.

    Hi...
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Then restart your iPad.   Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

  • Is there really a gap if I purchase and swap the CD-ROM with Ultrabay Adapter III (43N3412)?

    Hi all,
I want to install a SSD with ultrabay adapter on my w510. But I saw on the forum some people mentioned that there will be a gap if I do so, can anyone tell me if it is true?
    Thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, it's true, if you buy the adapter from Lenovo as I did for my W520. There are vendors on eBay who claim to have gapless (12.7mm) ultrabay adapters. Some are very cheap. One claims to be selling an actual Lenovo part (but if so, why isn't Lenovo?). I put some pictures up here.

  • ITunes audio cd burning gap track problem

Hello! When I burn an audio cd in iTunes, and chooses to have a gap between the tracks, there still is no gap between the tracks on playback of the cd.
I have tried both 2, 3 and 5 seconds gap, but yet no gap.
I have also updated my iTunes.
Seems like a bug in iTunes? Anyone who can help?

Is any crossfading turned on?  Go to the iTunes menu, Preferences, and on the Playback section make sure it's turned off.  The gapless playback feature was removed with itunes 11 (and never really affected playback anyway, which is probably why they removed it).

  • Gaps between purchased iTUNES tracks

I have seen some discussion on making a CD one track to eliminate the gaps between tracks in the iPOD. However, I have purchased several classical music pieces-such as the Rachmaninov Variations on Pagannini--well each variation is a track-which is not a problem listening on iTUNES. However, when listening on iPOD mini, there are noticable gaps between the tracks which in this type of piece there should not be. ANy thoughts on eliminating the gaps in iTUNES Store purchased music???

The reason that iTUNES plays the tracks continuously is due to one of the settings. (Crossfade). You can select the time delay between tracks and also have them overlap slightly (by a fraction of a second). Consequently it will play continuous tracks without the pause. The iPOD can't do this and so as far as I know you'll have to put up with the milisecond pause.
Unless you burn the tracks onto a CD and re-rip as a single track.....but it kind of defeats the object of purchasing from iTUNES and syncing to the iPOD immediately.

  • Gap between tracks

    Hi -
I imported an album that has no gap between music tracks, but in iTunes there is now a ~1 sec gap between tracks which also copies across to my nano. Is there a way to edit/adjust these tracks so there is no gap without haing to re-rip the whole album? It is quite annoying.
    TIA,
    Charles

I did not even realize that this issue occurred, until I was listening to Abbey Road on the IPOD. Searching for Answers it looks as though Apple needs to provide an enhancement to resolve this with an Itunes service pack and ipod firmware upgrade.
