Is it really necessary not to have admin rights for security reasons

I was told that i need to create a second admin account then log into that, then from there take away my admin privileges.. so I would not be an admin so computer will be much safer.
Which i did
But then so many passwords all the time.. need to insert the admin password for so many things and it is annoying it is like vista which i don't like at all.
is this really important to keep computer secure?
what are your leopard security tips?

You should have left your original account alone and created a second non-admin user account for day-to-day use. Any non-system apps you need, etc, you can install in the new account.
It's not easy switching horses in mid-stream so to speak, but it is safer than always using the computer as an administrator.
If you use Fast Switching, you can quickly access the original account anytime you wish.

Yes. Security should come before convenience.
Again, you are getting all this requests for passwords because you changed you main account rather than creating a new one.

Trying to update. When I drag ff icon to apps folder message says replace or stop. Answer replace, then message says can't complete as I don't have permissions. If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

*Install the new version that you have downloaded

No. It would have been done for security reasons. You notified them that money was being unknowingly taken from your account, so they froze it.
Change your Apple ID here
And also check for unusual activity on your credit card with your bank. Change all your security password while you are at it.

Why would you repurchase songs simply because they will not sync? Sorry, that's beyond illogical, it's simply not smart.

I can't update (to 3.6.14) because Firefox has decided I don't have admin rights...but I do!

I am using my personal Macbook and I have the administrator rights on this computer. I can't update because Firefox tells me I don;t have administrator rights when I do. It advised me to download Firefox 3.6 and install. I decided to try and downloaded the dmg. But it won't install because Firefox still thinks I don;t have admin rights. I have used Firefox for years so the problem is not because I don't know what I'm doing. I also updated my friend's Mac without a problem.
At this rate I'll have to g back to Safari, which I haven't used for years!!

Does user have admin rights to portlet?

I have a portlet in which 2 groups have access, users of this portlet and admins of this portlet (not portal or community admins) They simply should get different functionality. Does the SettingType.Admin mean you are a portal/community admin or you have "admin" rights to the portlet?

Neither.
I'm guessing you're using the hasSettingsRight method of the IDK, no?
if hasSettingsRight(SettingType.Admin) returns true it implies two things:
1) You're in the admin prefs gateway and
2) You have at least edit rights on the portlet object.

Do users have to have admin rights in order to be able to sync?

It seems that the Blackberry users at my company have to have admin rights in order for them to be able to sync their devices to their computers. The company is tightening the controls and soon, only the IT department will have admin rights. So how will users sync their devices? The company is not willing to spend the money on the BES. Any guidance to this problem would be GREATLY appreciated!

correct. Either a user groups, or directly the rights granted locally on each computer for its owner.
I have no idea so the IT guy will have to trial & error by dichotomy.
patience will be needed.
=> some registry folder in write/modify, some firewall ports opened, some rights on some NTFS folders.
I wish good luck to the ITman. Maybe theyll find salute with technical documentation on how the Desktop Manager works.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.

1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) let them know and they will helo you enable the account. even if you change the password 50 times the account will stay disable till you call them
