Is it really unnecessary to render before encoding? Rendering makes the result brighter?
Amateur Doug here.
I remember reading that the Adobe Media Encoder will render when making its product, and therefore I don't have to render first on the timeline.
But I always get a littler nervous when I see my timeline still unrendered after encoding.
So I did a test and the h264 that was made from a timeline that I rendered first was brighter, not clearer but brighter.
Am I seeing things?
Do the same test with colour bars and look at the export on the wfm scope in Premiere, this will give you definite results.

That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer. -
Premiere Pro CC won't render and Encoder freezes at 50%
I'm trying to render a multicam project. Up until 2 days ago, I could render projects out fine. Now, if attempting to render with Premiere, the project stays at 0% indefinitely. If I queue the project in Encoder, it gets to 50%, then just stops any progress in the render but continues to count the time elapsed. I recently added a Samsung printer to my computer, so I uninstalled all of those pieces of software but still the same results. The project was created on the previous version of Premiere before the latest update to CC. It created a new save file and the project opens up fine, with all other functions still available.
I'm running on a Intel Zeon 3.47GHz processor, 14GB ram, gpu acceleration card, 2 gig video card.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.The benefit's of two pass are dubious, at best. I recommend bypassing that second pass and just go with one pass encoding. It's faster and chances are no one would be able to tell any difference. (Plus, it'll probably work.)

Do I need to render before exporting?
I have just put together a small project with three sequences in it. Nothing crazy, renders in about an hour on a PB G4/1Ghz. My question though — do I need to render before exporting to a Quicktime movie? Or will it render automatically before exporting?

Kristin.On a PB/G4, an hour isn't that bad. I started editing on Sawtooth G4s, and had render times of 2-3 hours for not much video. Of course, it all depends on titles, layers, effects, etc.
Well, if you think about it, exporting a movie to Quicktime IS rendering. I don't think FCP is going to stick a blue "Unrendered" box in, or encode at Dynamic RT quality when making a movie file. -
I guess the problem come from me but I really need those contacts before he calls me for it. I'll try some method that I got from some responders on your support website. Do you have or can you recommand any software that can solve this problem?
One more thing. I just update my iphone that my boss gave to me but it seems to be like it giving me some trouble. My iphone was updated not too long and was successful. If you call your carrier first and then they route you to Apple, you usually don't have to pay for phone support.
If you are talking to Apple and they ask you to pay a support fee, ask if you can get an exception this time. That usually works once, but they keep track of the times you've been granted such an exception.
If you still end up paying the support fee, that fee only applies if it's not a hardware related issue. In other words, if it can be fixed by just talking over the phone and following Apple's instructions, then the fee applies. But if your device is deemed to have a hardware failure that caused the issue, then the fee should not apply, and you can ask for it to be waived after the fact.

Do I need to render before export?
Coming from the old video software, this was the case. However, now I have background rendering turned off. Do I need to manually render before I export the video, in order to get the color grades, transitions, etc? Or does export automatically render it for me?

Sorry about this newbie question. After coming back from Color, my timeline has the red lines on top of the clips. Do I need to render before to straight export via Compressor ? Or is Compressor sort of does the render? thx.
It makes no difference whether you render or not because FCP hands over the raw frames to Compressor. Compressor ignores all FCP render files.

I have an Encore asset which is dynamically linked to a Premiere sequence. Do I need to render the sequence in Premiere before transcoding it in Encore i.e. is Premiere rendering necessary? Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

"ZipCloud" is some sort of cloud-storage service with a doubtful reputation. The OS X client is sometimes distributed along with malware. Although ZipCloud may not be malicious itself, it should be deemed suspect by virtue of the company it keeps.
To remove ZipCloud, start by backing up all data (not with ZipCloud itself, of course.)
Quit the application, if it's running, and drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash.

The following Safari extensions are malicious and should be removed in the Extensions pane of the Safari preferences window:

Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use those. Never install any extension with the words "Spigot," "Conduit," "Genieo," or "Trovi" in the description.

Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select
▹ Restart
from the menu bar. -
Using Premiere CC and Media Encoder CC at the same time
Is this possible? Doesn't seem to be. Media Encoder bails on every job as soon as you try to render anything in Premiere. I guess they don't play nice together, which is surprising. I was hoping that Media Encoder would pause and wait for Premiere to finish a render. Instead it dies on every render job, creating 0 size video files... while making a sheep bleating sound.
Is this a GPU issue? I have 2 nVidia cards, a 770GTX and 560GTX. (Windows 8.1, 16gb RAM, 3770k CPU)As soon as I initiate a render in Premiere, Media Encoder bleats, and all subsequent render jobs bleat and produce 0 size video output files... even if I quit the Premiere render before Media Encoder reaches some of those render jobs.
I suspect this is a GPU sharing issue.... but can't be certain.
What do you mean by new install? Did I install it (AME or Premiere) recently? No. I've had Creative Cloud on my machine for almost a year, and both Premiere and Media Encoder have been updated periodically.
To my knowledge they have never worked together, but I only started using the queue feature within Premiere recently, so I haven't used AME until recently. -
Adobe media encoder produced mixed-up results
I have never used the Queue button in Premiere before to batch process video output. Yesterday when I was working on a choir project where I had multiple sequences representing individual songs, I found it convenient to delay the encoding until I complete editing of all sequences. It's really a neat feature.
However, some of the resutling mpg files were messed up. They have contents that I didn't add to the project. As a matter of fact, they were from some other projects that I did before. How could AME pull in clips not intended for the said project?This one's difficult to even begin solving without a LOT more detailed information. Start here:

Adobe Media Encoder encodes After Effects compositions using their current appearance. There is no control the appearance of the composition, with one exception; there is no equivalent to the Render Settings controls in the After Effects Render Queue. If you want proxies to be used, or not, set up your composition for the desired configuration before you encode in Adobe Media Encoder.
The exception to this rule is Guide Layers. In Adobe Media Encoder, right-click on an After Effects composition and choose Source Settings, from this dialog you can control whether or not the Guide Layers in the composition are rendered. -

I have been having a problem for a little while now, and I have decided to overlook it for the most part. However, it is really starting to get on my nerves. The issue I don't believe is with the MacBook Pro itself, however with the MagSafe power adapter. The adapter itself is in great condition, it is brand new, but when I attach it to the computer, the computer reads that it is there, as it shows it is charging or is charged as shown by the battery indicator in the top right of the OS X toolbar. However, the amber and/ or green light doesn't come on, right away - the first time - most of the time, on the adapter head itself. I usually have to unplug it and plug it back in multiple times before I get a light to come on. I have tried to clean the adapter itself, and the MagSafe port on the computer, but that seems to only help for a short amount of time, and it doesn't look real dirty, or like any pins are stuck on the adapter. I have also tried other outlets, but that doesn't seem to help, so I don't think I am getting dirty power.
Unfortunately, it *could* be the computer. And it could be the adapter. Aside from trying Resetting the System Management Controller there's not much you can do except taking it in for testing.
