Is it recommended to run the battery on a iPhone 6 plus when experiencing battery draining issues?

iphone started going from 70% to nearly flat in 8 hours or so, should I drain it flat, or go to my local Apple store for advice?

Hi, Cuzzystyle.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Battery life can be difficult to troubleshoot as multiple factors contribute to how long a charge can last.  Graphic intensive applications, display brightness and data connectivity are just a few of the items that can cause the battery life to decrease rapidly.  I would need to know a little more information about your usage patterns to give you and idea on how to maximize battery life.  However, here are some tips on how to adjust settings and charge the device that may help.
If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • Could Exchange be a cause of the battery drain issue with 3.1.2

I've never had a significant battery drain issue until I upgraded to 3.1.2. This started four days ago, when I've been relying on 3G more rather than WiFi since I've been out of town. I just changed my work e-mail Exchange from push to fetch every 15 minutes, and it seems to have improved some of the battery drain problems. I haven't done the experiment yet of switching back to push. Any other similar experiences out there?

There were reports some time ago of incorrectly configured Exchange servers sending out too many push messages, thus draining the battery faster than normal.

  • I think i have solved the battery drain

like many of you i have been plagued with the battery drain issue after 3.1.2.
i believe what is causing it is mobile safari.
we know that w/3.0 an anti-phishing feature was added and by default it is turned on settings>safari>fraud warning.
the way it is supposed to work is you connect to wifi>plug into charger> open up safari> and turn screen off. it is supposed to download the anti-phishing database while the unit is "off" and charging.
i believe part of it is broken.. i believe it is downloading even when it is not plugged in.
this explains all the symptons all the "cures"
what i did last nite was to follow apples directions turned on wifi-plug into charger-open up mobile safari and turned off screen.
to test i went to a known phishing site: tinyurl.com/ratju4 the anti-fraud warning popped up - the database downloaded.
since 6 am this am - i've been out for a run- used the gps to track it and listened to music at the same time, spent 1/2 hour reading emails and google reader @ breakfast since 6 am i have 1 hour 40 minutes of usage and 3 hours 12 mins of standby and 73% left on the battery meter
i assume if you turn off the antifraud feature you will get the same beneftits

Ok, so is this only a issue if you charge your phone by the wall charger? I normally always charge my phone through the USB cable on my iMac.
And I too would like to know if there's a way to find out if the database has been downloaded or not.
How long does it take to download the database after you have connected via wifi, turned on safari and locked the screen?
I don't see any anti-phishing settings anywhere in the settings menu. So would turning the
fraud warning to "off" do the same thing?
I'm really hoping that this works because the battery drain is a huge pain in the butt, and Apple seems to be completely unwilling to replace my phone. They say they don't replace phones for software issues or problems caused by software(even when it's their software!). Load of bollocks if you ask me.

Go to System Preferences>Displays and set the resolution to "Best for this computer" (or something to that effect).

Hold the home button and the sleep/wake button (...) until the screen goes black, then turn the thing back on. If it doesn't work correctly, hold the home button while plugging it into iTunes and restore it.

  • Satellite C870-12R: message - It is recommended to replace the battery

I have a brand new satellite now.
After two weeks I get a message that there's a battery problem and that the laptop could shut down unexpectedly. It is recommended to replace the battery.
Is there a way to get support without taking the phone or going to a store ?
Can I get a new battery by mail and send the bad battery back without returning the whole laptop ?
    Thanks for your answer.

    > Can I get a new battery by mail and send the bad battery back without returning the whole laptop ?
In your case I would recommend contacting the Toshiba authorized service partner in your country.
Possibly you dont need to send the notebook to ASP but you will get a new battery under warranty conditions.

  • I run the battery faster since I installed OS X 10.8.4

I run the battery faster since I installed OS X 10.8.4.
    what can i do?
    Thanks!

Open Activity Monitor and choose All Processes instead of My Processes. Sort the processes by CPU and see if there is a process causing the CPU to be constantly in use draining your battery. Try an SMC reset as well and see if there is any improvement.

  • Massive battery drain issues after the latest software update - phone hot

After the latest software update (to the NI2 version) I have massive battery drain issues. The phone also stays hot. Even when I don't actively use the phone it seems to stay "awake" according to the stats. When I disable all data (Wifi and/or 3G/4G) it's perfectly fine. Does anyone else experience the same issues or has recommendations?

Is the device trying to sync all your photos with the cloud?
This is what I would do.
Back up your photos and music onto a personal computer. Copy down important settings like for your email, and contacts you can't risk losing.. even icon placement of important apps. Diagram it out.
Then perform a Factory reset on the device. Alternatively you might find the procedure for wiping the low level cache of the device posted in other posts on the site. That might fix the problem and avoid you losing settings and content on your device.
Extremely bizarre behavior post updates are usually associated with low level cache issues that cause the OS to behave poorly.  Some people have reported their phones running hot and that could mean the radio is on constantly attempting to back stuff up to the cloud our restore stuff.
    Good luck.

  • Why is the battery draining so fast?

Everything in safari is shut down, all multi-tasking is turned off too. My phone is only 7 months old & has worked fine up until today when I noticed the battery draining so fast.

@ neeraj_96 - Thanks for the input, but that's not the issue.  As I was saying in my reply, my phone has had a wonderful battery life up until yesterday. This has nothing to do with turning off fetching or lowering my brightness.  I have done no major changes in the settings to my iPhone since yesterday, but now all the sudden I can barely hold a charge.  I completely charged it last night to 100%.  This morning I woke up and it was at 56%.  My wife has an iPhone 4, hers was at 96% and this morning it is at 91%.  Something is definitely up with my phone's battery that is not a normal operation.
I have tried to do a complete reboot of the phone (holding the power button and the home key down for 10 seconds) and that has not solved the problem.  I would suspect that it's an application running in the background, but I figured, as @williamformlouisville stated, that would have killed any rouge application draining my battery, but it has not helped.  This is definitely not normal for this phone's operation.

  • Macbook Pro running slow/battery drains when closed

    Hi!
I have a Macbook Pro 13-inch, mid-2012 running OS X 10.9. It recently started running extremley slow and the spinning ball pops up all the time when I try to do basically anything, but mostly when I try to do more than one thing at a time. Sometimes it will run normal, but then slow up. The spinning ball also pops up basically everytime that I try to play a video or anything like that. The adobe flash plugin also seems to crash a lot.
Also, when it is closed, it becomes very warm and the battery drains while it is closed. It seems like it doesn't really turn off when it closes.
Anyone know what could be causing this?
    Thanks!

I ended up having to take it in. Turned out there was a connection to the hard drive that was loose or something. I took it to a store in my city that specializes in macs so I didn't have to spend a fortune. Otherwise, I had someone else look at it and they said that it could have been from when I updated my computer, that something didn't download properly- which has been an issue in some computers.

  • HT1476 i heard that if you let the battery drain to zero that it could hurt the battery life (like if it goes to zero the battery life would go down from like maybe 10 hours, to 8 hours. just an example.) is this true because ive been worried about my bat

i really want all my devices working at full capacity especially the battery and i want more info on the care of it. like should i charge a device for a specific time the first time i get it, and if its ok to let a battery go to zero and if overcharging is bad. by the way i have an ipod nano 5g, ipod shuffle 4g an ipod touch 4g, an iphone 5s, a ps vita, a surface rt, and im planning to get a macbook pro. ive had some of these devices for a while and some are fairly new. i really want to make these devices last and i dont want to have to replace them for any reason.
    please help and thanks.

It is not good for Lithium chemistry batteries to become fully discharged, however, iPads, iPhones and iPods will shut off before the battery is fully drained. That is, when the phone goes from 1% to 0% and shuts off there is still plenty of charge on the battery. However, you should not let it sit for a long time after it shuts off, as the phone still uses some power even in this state. So if the phone shuts off due to low power you should charge it within a day or two.
You also cannot overcharge an iDevice. The charger is actually in the device; it is not the adapter that you plug into the wall. That is just a 5 volt power source. And the charger in the device will stop charging when the device reaches full charge.
One advantage of Lithium batteries is that they have no "memory effect". That is, you don't have to fully drain them before charging, and you can connect them to a charger at whatever the current state of charge, and remove them from the charger if necessary before they reach full charge. None of these activities will shorten the life of the battery.
It is a good idea to run the battery all the way down, then charge to 100% every month or so. But this is to recalibrate the battery gauge, it is not to "condition" the battery.

This should get your itunes store connection working.
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Iphone 4S resets itself every few min - the battery drains in an hr.

My iphone 4S is resetting every few minutes as a result the battery drains in an hour.
By resetting I  mean, the lock screen would show up, then the apple sign would come up like when you start your iphone, searches for the network etc. This happens every few minute even when the phone is on standby or when I am using it. If I am on the call, then the call gets disconnected because the phone is resetting.
The usage always shows "-" for both Usage and Standby with the message that the usage time will be shown after iphone is fully charged.
This started only a month ago when my phone was not on the latest os version. But now it is on the latest but the problem never did go away. It never fell out of my hand or fall into water and is barely a year old (just 10/15 days over the warranty period).
    Please help!

And I should mention that I took the foll steps so far:
    1. Let the battery drain out completely and charge it overnight
    2. Backed the phone, then reset the phone and restored from backup.
    3. Took it to the apple store and they did a different kind of restore but no luck
The only thing left for me to try to is to reset it to factory setting unless some one can suggest some other way.

  • I was updating my ipod and its frozen on the update circle until the battery drains. What should i do? I already tried reseting it does'nt work

As i was updating my ipod it froze on the update circle. I've tried reseting it but it turns on normally and goes to the update circle until the battery drains. P,ease help.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
