Is it safe/smart to replace your iPhone 5c battery without a professional?
A Couple months ago, I purchased a blue iPhone 5c. Everything was okay except for the battery life. Certain apps I use kill my battery. At any given moment, my battery percentage will go from 100% to 1%. Should I change the battery or buy a new iPhone?
Make an appointment at the genius bar and get the battery replaced by Apple (they will test it and tell you if the problem is the battery or something else).
Apple does not sell iPhone parts. It is not possible for you to buy a genuine, new iPhone battery to install yourself. You can buy stolen parts, salvaged parts, or counterfeit parts. That's it. If you attempt to replace the battery yourself, Apple will not touch your phone under any circumstances, either in or out of warranty, ever again.

Is it safe to give someone your iPhone serial number, when you want to sell the phone.... So they can 'verify' it?
Probably safer than giving them the IMEI number.
Just use a buyback service like Glyde or Gazelle. -
Will Apple stores in Germany replace your iPhone if there is internal hard drive problems from a phone from the US. I am studying abroad and won't be home until December
You can try, but the iPhone warranty terms state that Apple "may" restrict warranty/service to country of original purchase...key word here is "may".
Good luck. -
Will they replace my iphone 5s battery at the genius bar and if so, for what cost?
will they replace my iphone 5s battery at the genius bar at my appointment, and if so for what cost?
You will have to ask if they are equipped for that.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:
Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.
To contact product and tech support: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers.
You will find respective repair costs in the appropriate link:

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task:
1. iResq or Google for others.
2. Buy and replace screen yourself: iFixit -
Do you have to make an appointment to replace your iPhone?
Do you have to make an appointment to get your iphone replaced?
If the genius bar in your location is like the one's where I live, you won't be able to see a genius without an appointment. The genius bars, where I live, are full several days in advance. You can make an appointment online, & don't be late!

How long does it take to get your iPhone 5 battery replaced?
For anyone who had their iPhone 5 battery replaced in the replacement program, I was wondering if you could tell me how long this took and what the procedure is. Can you do this at a Genius Bar? I'm probably going to have no more than a few hours to do this between trips and wondering if it takes five minutes or a couple of days.
Thanks very much. The current iPhone 5 battery replacement program has caused some Apple Stores (including all of them in Houston) to run out of spare batteries. They order more, but can take a few days to get fresh stock.
I went into a store on Tuesday. The Genius ran a diagnostic to be sure my battery was in bad enough shape o qualify. It did, but they were out of batteries, so they put me in line to get one. Today's shipment included a battery with my name on it, so I took the phone back in today. The replacement was complete about 45 minutes later. -
Fixing your iPhone 5 Battery Life - Once and for all!
Greetings folks - I'll get right into it here:
1. Let your iphone 5 drain completely out.
2. BUT, Once it gets on 1% however, you must go into: Settings>General>Rest>Reset All Settings.
(note: This will not ruin ANY of your personal info the phone. You will loose only a slight amount of settings for apple only apps. As well as your home and lock screen photos will need replacing. All very easy stuff to redo. Again, no worries here.
3. Charge your iphone for 2 hours or more ( for best results charge overnight)
Now, my histroy is this:
New iPhone 5 from factory. Lost 16% on standby overnight. And was continuing to loose battery at an unaceptable rate. Tried reseting DFU Restore with new firmware (as I read in other forums) That did NOT work for me. As of right now I am using all my features my iphone touts. No turning off notifcations for apps or bringing brightness lower. The ONLY thing I have turned off in iCloud is BOTH "Photo Stream" and Documents and Data. As, I do not need these on. I will be trying to turn them on in couple days and see if it makes difference. Oh, and I have check mail to 'Every hour'.
Please, if you Iphone 5 is suffering from BAD battery, this work around does works, just wish apple would allow for a script to do this for us all.
Plese give it a try. I was seriously ready to send my phone back until I read about "resetting all settings".
cheersHey there chris11350,
It sounds like you are seeing various unexpected issues when using your phone. I would start by closing all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If it persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And restore it from your backup with this article to erase the current iOS installation and install a fresh copy:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the best,

Can i replace my iphone 5 battery if needed?
I was just wondering how i would go about it.
The battery in the iPhone is not replaceable by the user. If your battery fails, you would take or send your iPhone to Apple or an authorized iPhone service center for replacement.

Can your iPhone be repaired without AppleCare+ not including screen damages?
If something would happen to your iPhone, like the speaker isn't working, or your screen wouldn't turn on, would you be able to get your iPhone repaired/replaced without AppleCare+?
Buy AppleCare+ if demons haunt you and like to break your phone (some people try hard but just seem to have bad luck).
But "manufacturing defects" that occur within the first year are covered by the default warranty. -
Is it ok to do the following things to your iPhone's battery :
1.Using iPhone till the bettery completely runs out
2.Charging before it runs down
3.Unplug before it's fully charged
4.Use iPhone when charging
5.Charging when it says low battery.
Overall, when's the right time to charge your iPhone ?Try to avoid running your battery down until the phone turns off...Lithium batteries don't like that, & frequent full discharge/recharge cycles will eventually kill your battery. You can charge whenever you like, as you cannot overcharge...charging automatically stops when your battery is full. Fine to use the phone when connected to a charger. Charge as often as you like or are able to...but, as provided...avoid full discharges as much as possible.

How much do Apple charge to replace your iPhone?
Basically my iPhone is messed up, the buttons are pushed in slightly, they still work but yeah. the phone will randomly vibrate when it's on silent. the text tone will stutter badly, the new screen which was fitted hasnt been placed on properly so dust gets in and not only this but i have the feeling there is internal damage as well. now instead of going to a repair shop etc. I got told Apple will either repair it or replace it with a new (same model) phone and because the warranty has ran out, I was just wondering how much they will charge?
That is why I said keep an open mind...you have to evaluate just what you are willing to accept and what is the most cost-effective thing for you to do. We're all fellow users on here and can just give our experience. But do keep an open mind, consider what they are willing to work out with you and do what is in your best interest.

How much is it to replace your iphone 5 screen
How much does it cost for apple to replace my iphone5 screen
Google it.
Or contact Apple and ask them.
A simple search of the forums would have revealed the answer without the need for another posting. -
And another question, would i not be able to get any service from apple if (just in case) my iphone was opened by a non-iphone service even if im willing to pay?
Okay, thanks, so i guess id have to wait till i get back to the US to get An apple to fix it. Coz they dont do it here in the philippines and if they do it must be more complicated.

Can I replace an iPhone 4S battery
On my old android phone I carried an extra charged battery in case my battery ran low. Can I do this with an iPhone 4S?
For a quick swap anytime, any day, no. When it finally croaks and refuses to charge and you refuse to pay what Apple charges for the replacement, yes. On the i4's it is relatively simple to do. But you may need a special screwdriver if your has the ornery Pentalobe screws on the bottom (screwholes look like little 5-petal flowers). www.ifixit.com has the details (and parts).
