I get my magsafe 2 60w is it safe to charge macbook pro retina  15 pouces

It's not a good idea to use a lower wattage power supply than what the machine shipped with. The 15" comes with an 85 watt adapter and that's what you should be using. You can go in the other direction with no problem, like using an 85 watt on a machine that came with a 60. If I were you, I go get the correct charger.

Is Unity Web Player safe for my MacBook Pro?

Yes, just be sure you download it directly from the developer website: http://unity3d.com/webplayer. A fair number of file download sites bundle adware or other unwanted content with legitimate applications/plugins.

  • TS3742 How to do safe boot on MacBook Pro

How to do a safe reboot on my MacBook Pro when kernel panic message appears?

Are you trying to safe boot because you got a KP or are you getting a KP when you safe boot?
You boot in safe mode by pressing the shift key immediately after you hear the boot chime.

  • Trying to calibrate MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I recently got a MacBook Pro 15" (not the retina) and am trying to calibrate the battery because it drains within about 5 hours or so. I have used it till it shuts off and then let it charge fully without using it 2 or 3 times. But even after I have done this it still drains faster than it should, cause I'm not running any crazy battery draining programs, just email and the web. I'm not sure if this is normal since it's new and I'm being paranoid or if there's something wrong.

Do NOT run LithiumIon batteries dead.  Calibration is not required.
Battery run times vary depening on system loads, and it may never give you 7 hours of runtime (assuming you would run it 7 hours to dead, now that you know better).
I leve mine plugged in when I can (almost always).  It stops charging at 100%, discharges slowly to 95% (saves charging) and then recharges to 100% on its own.
Use it down to 40% every 2 months to exercise the battery molecules.

  • Is it normal and safe for my macbook pro to be at this temp

So I installed Starcraft 2 onto my 2010 Macbook Pro 15" i7 and I also installed Fan Control. When I play starcraft 2 i noticed that the fans get louder and some parts of the computer are hot. I checked the fan control to see the temps and they reach 60-65 degrees. Is this ok? What would be the threshold of the computer?

If the CPU temperature of your machine rises into the high 90s (C.) and stays there even with the fans running at or near 6000RPM, then you may have a problem of some kind that requires attention. If the CPU temperature ever reaches 105°C, the MBP will shut down for its own protection. That is the upper limit of the CPU's safe operating range, according to Intel's specifications.

  • Is Fan Control Safe for your MacBook Pro?

Im just wondering if Fan Control is safe for your MacBook.
does anyone here have an experience using it?

smcFanControl works fine. It won't hurt anything. You can't slow the fans down below the factory default setting.

  • Is Apache OpenOffice Safe for my MacBook Pro I am a first time Apple User.

I am coming from a PC with over 27 years experience and most recently windows 8 I had to return 2 new notebooks with windows 8 with nothing but problems so I really had it with microsoft and I am a brand new apple user of only 2 weeks so I went out and purchased a MacBook pro and what a difference. I worry way to much and was concerned about downloading Apache OpenOffice for my new MacBook Pro. Is it a safe program to put on my Macbook and is it stable or can I expect problems. I would greatly appreciate any help the community can offer me. Thank you very much for your help...Would I be better off downloading Apple's version of a spreadsheet & word processor I believe they are around $20.00 each Thanks again.

Open Office is a suite of applications similar to Office 2007 for Windows. It is not 100% compatible with Office, but it is close. However, I would suggest using Libre Office. It is much like Open Office because they both come from the same original source code. But Libre Office seems to be better supported.

  • Mag safe adapter for macbook pro 15 inch mid 2009 model

is it safe to  use a 60 watts mag safe adapter for my macbook pro 15 inch mid 2009 model. i went to istore to have a battery replacement and they advice me to change my 60 watts mag safe to 85 watts because it is not compatible.....

    use the 85w charger.
"Power adapters for Intel-based Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple notebook, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.
For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. "

  • Is it safe for my MacBook pro retina plugged in while it's off?

Hello Everyone, so I have read that putting your MacBook pro in sleep while plugged in all the time is safe as long as you run the battery once in awhile, but what about if I want to shut down my MacBook pro Retina off without unplugging the charger and just leave it on for the rest of the night and then just turn my macbook pro back on still without unplugging the charger? Is it safe, no KABOOM!!? Lol ok I'm going to sleep now and I will turn off my Mac and unplug it for now until further instruction. Thanks in advance and good night!

you can leave it plugged in - when fully charged - charging stops to avoid overcharing your battery.
do not fully discharge your battery to 0% constantly, doing so will shorten your battery life.
    good luck

  • Is it safe to run Macbook Pro a whole month?

Remember, when people keep their personal computers turn on for a whole month or an entire year or so and people still do this.
I am new to laptops. Macbook Pro is the first laptop I am using. Is it okay to run a macbook pro with only ' Display Sleep '' option turn on and not the sleep mode option. I keep downloading files and they are big like 10GB to 20GB file size. So I keep my macbook turned on all the time.
I don't have a desktop anymore just a macbook. So It's on all the time and I don't use sleep mode because it disconnects from my wifi.
My macbook pro is always elevated with a book and there is a table fan adjusted such a way so my macbook pro is ventilated.
Is this okay to keep macbook pro running entire month? I do shutdown my mbp and turn it on after 10 mins. I think shutdown and keep it relaxed for 10mins everyday can do well. I don't render videos or play heavy game. I just download

Every week day I use my MBP and I do not have access to a charger so maybe 1 in every 2 days it drains completely.
It's on like 600 charge cycles now, 84% battery health, pretty good for 600 cycles if you ask me. It lasts the same amount of time as anyone else's on a full charge.
I guess I could be an anomaly but I don't think runningit down is the end of the world if it happens once in a while
It's not the end of the world at all, but your battery would probably be better if you didn't. Frankly it hardly matters, plug it in whenever you can, discharge it as circumstances dictate.

  • My MacBook pro will only load in safe mode with blue screen then freeze, but I can boot windows up fine and access all info on the mac side. Can anyone help?

    Hi all,
My MacBook pro was running fine then it went very slow, I got the spinning world but it would not do anything. I tried to restart but it had frozen, so I turned off the computer by the power buttton. Now it won't boot up, it justmfreezes with a blue screen in safe mode. I have tried booting isank blue user mod and running  /sbin/fsck -fy and a couple of other suggestions from various discussion boards but nothing works. I just tried booting up in windows and it works fine, with access to the mackintosh HD.
Any ideas on how to fix the mac side??
    Thanks in advance!

  • My Macbook Pro began crashing when I tried running safari. An error message came up asking that I repair the HD volume. Before I was able to run repair, computer shut down. Now I can not get it to boot. I tried booting in safe mode to no avail. Pls help.

Can someone please help me with a Macbook Pro booting question?
Recently, my mid 2010 MacBook Pro has started acting up when I am on Safari. Safari would unexpectedly crash multiple times in a row, then run fine for a while, then again, crash repeatedly. Not long after this began happening, an error message from my Prosoft Drive Genius 3 software, threw out a message that a serious error had occurred and I needed to repair the HD volume. Before I was able to run the software to repair the HD volume, the machine stopped working. I turned off the Macbook and when I tried to restart, it would not boot. I have since removed all external hardware from my machine and tried several times, unsuccessfully, to boot. I have also tried booting in safe mode when also does not work.
Any suggestions?  Thanks for your help.

    Try SMC reset:
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. (four keys together)
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
