Is it safe to charge ipad in Europe on converter

Is it safe to charge an ipad in Europe on a converter?

You don't need a converter to charge iPad in Europe.  It is able to charge on either 220 or 110.  What you do need however, is a plug converter, which would let you plug your iPad power charger into a plug in Europe.

  • Charging ipad in europe

Im from mexico, if I go to europe would I need an AC convertor to charge my ipad or I would only need the outlet plug

While the Apple kit is great, for the most part, there is one of each type of adapter, I think two for Europe.
You probably already own the cables.
Please note that the adapters for UK - Ireland and England, use a three prong outlet, while in most of Europe it's a two round prongs. (Some packages call these  adapters for Europe or southern Europe. They're the same.)
It's inexpensive to buy three of what you need, depending on your needs. If you're travelling alone or with friends who will buy their own, you'll probably have plenty with three. If you're travelling with family, you might consider more. If that's the case, you might want to consider a power strip with more outlets (some have usb included)
so you can charge phones, ipads, cameras, ipods, etc. all at once. We have been bringing a power strip on vacations and weekend trips for years (in carry-on bags.) Everything gets charged overnight. Someone pointed out in another thread last week that Amazon sells a power strip for the UK, so my guess is that they'll have one for Europe, too.
Individually, the adapters are about $3.00 each. See which will work for you.
    Hope this helps.

  • Possible or safe to charge iPad 1 with Apple A1070 iPod charger from 2004?

I have an iPad 1 and an old Apple A1070 (12 V, 67A) firewire-based charger (with usual dock connector). Can I safely use this to charge my iPad as a spare charger?

    Chris CA wrote:
Why would I try it? It won't charge.
The pinout of the iPod dock connector has not changed.
The FireWire pins are not the same pins used for USB. You are not pushing 12vdc into a 5vdc pin.

You could use this adapter to use a FW charger

Can I charge my Ipad in Europe without using a voltage converter?

Just spent 10 days in Ireland with our recently-purchased iPad and had no trouble charging it with the proper adaptor. NOTE: The UK uses a different adapter than continental Europe. Make sure you have the right adaptor for the counties you will visit. This article is helpful:

As output voltage is correct, charging is safe. It will charge about twice as fast as compared to its own charger.

  • Charging iPad with Airport Express extension power cable?

I have the discontinued Monster Airport Express Stereo Connection Kit, it comes with 3 cables, one of which is an Airport Express extension power cable, I want to know if I can use this power cable to charge my new iPad. I have asked Apple staff who didn't know as they no longer stock the cables. The power cord has a UK wall plug on one end and a 2 pin connector on the other, made to slot into the airport express unit it the same fashion as the iPad power cable slots into the iPad power block. I understand the iPad needs 10w power charging. Does anybody know if this will be safe to use? Many thanks...

Use the power adapter/cable that came with the iPad.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Charging iPad abroad

Is the included Apple 10W charger 110/220? May I use this with the Apple Travel Kit to charge the iPad in Europe?

Do a google on Apple World Travel Adapter Kit Power adapter kit
about $35 sold all over- migh even be in the apple store.
"The World Travel Adapter Kit includes a set of six AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world. For world travelers, this is the perfect kit to ensure power connectivity in most countries you may travel to. The Kit is designed to work with (and requires) the white portable power adapter that ships with iPod, iBook, or PowerBook G4. The AC plugs included in the World Travel Adapter Kit directly support outlets in North America, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, and Hong Kong.
These should slide right on the normal ipad/ipod power adapters but always pack a spare.

Can I use my iPad in Europe?

the iPad power pack is 110-240 v auto  You just need the relevant pin converter depending on the Country you are visiting and the power pack will automatically accept the input voltage
Just a point as already mentioned an AT&T iPad will also work on 3G with a suitable data sim from a local carrier
(each country is discrete ) A Verizon version will not work in Europe on 3g  at all ...except on wifi

Hey I have done this in person it works but only if you have a mophine iPhone battery case then you can use the htc charger on the case's mini USB port and it actually charges the case and the iPhone! The case only works for 4&4s devices.
The above is a method I currently use, any other working methods would be nice to know as I also have this question.

  • Best way to charge iPad mini

What is the best way to charge my iPad mini ? When I play Internet games at the same time using FaceTime my battery drain fast is it normal ?

The mini came with a 5W charger. If you are going to use the mini like you described, suggest you get a 12W charger like that for the iPad 3 & 4. The 12W charger should maintain your battery charge level.

I get my magsafe 2 60w is it safe to charge macbook pro retina  15 pouces

It's not a good idea to use a lower wattage power supply than what the machine shipped with. The 15" comes with an 85 watt adapter and that's what you should be using. You can go in the other direction with no problem, like using an 85 watt on a machine that came with a 60. If I were you, I go get the correct charger.

Can I use my ipad in Europe?

What country are you in?  Which ipad do you own?
AT&T model iPad uses the GSM protocol and has a mini-sim card slot. GSM  is the most widely used protocol.
    Here are the converage maps:
    For GSM:  http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
( Most people recommend GSM for the widest world wide coverage. )
The other main protocol is CDMA.
    For CDMA:  http://www.cdg.org/worldwide/index.asp
( The coverage map is optimistic.  One company with one cell tower means that the country has coverage.  )

  • Charging iPad One vs iPad 3rd gen via USB...

just got an iPad 3rd gen.  As I've read here, apparently, the PC's USB port doesn't supply enough power to make the 3rd gen battery charging icon say "charging".  Instead, it reads "not charging".  However, it initially DOES say 'charging', before changing to 'not charging' a couple of minutes later.
Question:  my iPad 1st gen ALWAYS charges via PC USB port.  Why?  Both AC chargers are 10 watts I believe, so why would the 1st gen charge while the third gen doesn't?  Does the 3rd gen require more charging watts than the 1st gen unit does?

Using the 10W charger, an iPad 1 will charge in about 3-4 hours, however, the iPad 3 requires about double the time. How long does it take to charge your iPad 1 using the PC's USB port?
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W).
