Is it safe to increase LUN size of ASM disk online 11gR2 ?

I have an Oracle 11gr2 ASM in a RAC, using an EMC SAN. I have one Disk Group (DATA), with one disk (DISK1), configured with external redundancy [Flash Recovery Area is non-ASM]. Red Hat Linux.
My storage is a 450GB LUN, and I want to grow it by 150GB. I should not add a 150GB LUN as a new disk, as the disks would be uneven. And I don't want to create a new disk group, as that's more admin.
So I want to increase my LUN from 450GB to 600GB, which can be done online by the UNIX admin. Then I can resize the disk in ASM and all should be OK. This is a production system.
Has anyone actually done this ? Does it work ? I have seen posts worried about changes to partition tables.

that is 600 vs 50That is only internal funny money - if they need the space, they (your internal client) will pay for it. If you just extend the LUN you still will give up parallelism gained by multiple LUNs and that parallelism could cost your client $$$ because of processing time charges.
Hypothetically, in a "future release", I would not be surprised if you are able to store your database files on a "cloud" architecture.

You would be better off creating a new metadata field of whatever size and storing your required value in that. If you really want to muck with the dDocName (I strongly recommend you don't) there are several database tables that need to be modified directly... you'll need an Oracle consultant to figure all that out.

I'm testing the ASM in AIX. I created a Logical Volume with size is, e.g., 10G. Then I assign this LV with a Disk Group in ASM. Now I increase the size of the LV using AIX's smit, e.g., to 20G. How can I increase the size of my Disk Group in ASM?
I understand that Oracle recommend to assign a whole physical hard disk to a Disk Group in ASM.Thus, the resize command of ASM can only reduce the size of Disk Group, but cannot increase the size of it?
Any advice?

Disk Group is a logical term, phyical size of a diskgroup is determined by the disks belonging to a diskgroup. So you cannot increase a diskgroup, only the disks in it. You can resize a disk up to its physical limit (resize option of ALTER DISKGROUP statement).

Maximun LUN size for non-MAC SAN

Hi.
I am trying to configure a PPC Mac Xserve to utilize storage space on a non-mac SAN (Compellent). I successfully setup the original volume on the SAN as a 2TB volume, zoned it through the Qlogic switch and mounted it on the Xserve.
Now I need to increase the size of that volume to 3TB. I unmounted the volume on the Xserve, deleted and recreated it on the SAN, and then tried remounting it on the Xserve. The Xserve detects the new volume, but only sees 2TB of space. No matter what I do, I cannot get it to see anything more than 2TB.
I thought the 10.4.10 FS (HFS+ Journaled) could see well over 2TB? Is there a LUN limitation? The only reference to this that I saw, was a limitation with older versions of the XSAN software.

Database Copy LUN Size

Quick question about database copies and the storage requirements.
I understand that for a DB copy, each MBX server has to have the same drive letters for the relevant drives/LUNS, but what
about size?
Do the drives have to be the same size?
The reason for asking is that we already have two MBX servers and all our DBs have copies on drives that are exactly the same
size. We are looking to replace the underlying hardware one by one (i.e. introduce a new MBX server to the DAG and copies, then eject the old one, rinse and repeat), and are hoping to increase the capacity of the drives at the same time.

Agreed. DAG members should have the same drive letters, same LUN sizes.

I would guess that the HDMI port on your mac is for output only - no input, and that's what your'e attempting to do when you attach the mac to your xbox. I looked in Mactracker and it lists the HDMI port as video output for both the 13" Retina MacBook Pro and the 15" Retina MacBook Pro (your post didn't say which one you have), so looks like that is the issue..

Preferences/Compsing/set to Rich Text (only then you can use bold etc).
Then Rightclick the toolbar in Mail, and clcik Customize the toolbar.
Put the icons (with or without text) that you want on your toolbar.

I am splitting the container and using top container to display headings in following way:

lv_text = 'HEADING'.
CONDENSE lv_text.
CALL METHOD top->add_text

      sap_fontsize = lv_fontsize         "cl_dd_document=>large
    CHANGING
      document     = cv_top.
But the heaidng is not displayed with high font size and is similar to the text with cl_dd_document=>medium
How can I increase font size of heading.

i think font size cannot be increased.....it wil auto adjust based on ur no of coloumns and records.... try to reduce the no of coloumns u r displaying, then it will auto adjust itelf.

Just the name? Don't ever recall that being a feature. However, for Mail and Messages (and a few other apps): Settings app > General > Text Size

We have UCS manager v2.1 with FI 6248 direct FC attached to NetApp with plenty of storage.
Per following doc, Lun size for UC apps should be 500GB - 1.5TB and 4 to 8 VMs per Lun.

We have four B200M3 blades and 3 to 4 UC apps (CUCM, Unity, UCCX) will be hosted on each blade. May add more VM the blades in the future.
I am thinking four 1 TB Luns and one for each blades. (actually 8 Luns in toal, 4 boot luns for ESXi and 4 for UC apps).
What is the best practice (or common deployment) to create Lun size and design?
