Is it safe to remove "en-US" from System32 ?

Recently, after adding the French and English (United Kingdom) language packs to an image and installing that image, I selected "fr-FR" as the primary language of the system. I removed the en-US language pack using DISM, but its folder is still
present in System32. Is it safe to remove this folder ?

Hi,
Why did you want to delete this folder? Its size is so small for your whole computer.
This symptom is normal. "fr-FR" is your primary language. However, system main file need English to display and run many files.
I would like to suggest you don't delete it in order to run system smoothly.

By default if it senses no battery the CPU will be "throttled" - reduced to half speed. In addition should the MagSafe adapter be accidentally disconnected (it's pretty easy) you'll end up with an uncontrolled shutdown, which could be pretty bad depending on what you're doing. If there's a hard drive write occurring, that could be really bad. The battery is supposed to effectively serve as an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) as well as a supplemental power source when the adapter itself can't handle the load. I suspect the CPU is throttled to prevent it from maxing out the adapter power.

Found 2 setupfiles in the %PROGRAM FILES%\common files\adobe\installers\uninstall\thirdparty\{GUID}\Adobe Photoshop lightroom 5 ccm directory.

    Hi Raj,
The “Everyone” share access is a remnant of legacy Exchange functionality (pre-Exchange 5.0).
For Exchange 2003, we do not see any Microsoft Exchange 2003 dependencies upon those shares.
From the Exchange perspective, it is safe to remove the “Everyone” share permission.
However, there may be any 3rd party applications which still use Exchange 2003 in a legacy fashion, their ability to access proxy DLLs/addressing templates, and reading diagnostic logging pages may be hampered.
To mitigate such a risk, I suggest we can replace “Everyone” with “Authenticated Users” in order to bypass any audit concerns, yet still allow 3rd party applications to access those shares. Additionally, here is a KB descripted the detailed functions about
    these shared folder:

  • How to remove virus, malware from mac?

please help i used an website that later that had phishing activity and virus , today my friends said they received emails with files on it
HOW DO I REMOVE THIS VIRUSES FROM MY COMPUTER ????
    PLEASE HELP

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide, remove adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac, and AdwareMedic. If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.) You might consider adding this Safari extensions: Adblock Plus 1.8.9.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

  • 10.4.9 removes Brightness Control from System Preferences?!

Has anyone else noticed that the Intel 10.4.9 update has removed Brightness Control from their System Prefs?!
maybe it's just mine... seems unlikely!!!

No, mine still has it. Perhaps it no longer thinks you can adjust the brightness. You may try the "standard" repair techniques to see if it will come back: Repair permissions, repair the disk (you must start up from installer DVD or use Safe Mode--which takes a while to boot because it is checking the disk), and then running the combo updater instead of Software Update.

  • What is the safest way to remove a virus from a Mac?

    Hello!
I just ran a virus check using ClamXav and a virus popped up. The information for the virus is as follows:
    File name: 32294 . emlx
Infection name: Heuristics. Phishing. Email. Spoofed Domain
(There are no spaces before or after the periods.)
I've never had a virus on here before and I always try to be safe, but sometimes others use the computer as well.
If anyone has any tips or information about this horrible thing I would truly appreciate it!
Thank you for stopping by :-)

That is not actually a virus, it's just an e-mail message that ClamXav suspects may be a phishing e-mail. The key phrase there is "may be." ClamXav uses some heuristic rules to try to identify potential phishing e-mails, but those rules are far from reliable.
Control-click on each item in the list of malware ClamXav has detected, and choose Reveal in Finder. This will show the problem e-mail message file (named using a number followed by ".emlx"). Double-click that file (don't worry, this is perfectly safe) to open it in Mail. You can then delete the message from there, if it is actually a phishing e-mail.
Never allow ClamXav to delete e-mail messages. That can corrupt the index of the mailbox the message is in, and it does not remove the message from the server (if it's still stored on the server), so you may end up with the bad message showing back up again.

  • Removing unused media from Sequence cause crashing

I am trying to remove unused media from projects prior to archiving to free up/clean up finished projects. Each project I have tried to do this with I am having the program close during process. Then when I try to reopen project it will not open and keeps crashing. Firstly are these project now corrupt, and can I still archive them somehow or get the project back?? Please help as the projects I have tried to do this with aren't of huge importance but I do need to try to clean up and archive others that are.

It is safe to use the media manager...
Check your hard drive for space...for 30 mins means you'll need at least another 6.5 GB of free space... make it 8GB to be safe...
In media manager (NOTE : also read the manual carefully) use the COPY option...
Using COPY, ensure the 'duplicate selected items and place into a new project' box IS ticked, this will set up a completely new project and folder, containing ONLY EVERYTHING you have in your 30 min sequence... and will not delete or change anything from the origonal... If you go to the new folder you'll see another folder called 'media'... this will contain all the clips etc.
Then, open up the new COPIED project, watch it to check it's ok... if it's cool (which it should be) then you now have a completely independant project that is nothing to do with the origonal... and contains only used media.
Then, open up final cut pro docs>capture scratch> 'project name' and you can simply delete ALL your old media manually, knowing that everything you need is now in a new folder elsewhere....
Of course, this only works if you have that little bit of extra space left on your drive for the new media to be copied to... but i find it's the safest, and easiest way of removing unused media.

  • Is it safe to download adobe flashplayer from the internet?T

Is it safe to download adobe flashplayer from the internet. I am new in the Apple environment and my MacBook asks me whether I am sure I want to proceed?
    Thanks,
    T

If you never installed Flash before you should Cancel and download it directly here
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Once it's installed it will perform a update check when you use Flash and a gray window will popup letting you know to update the browser plug-in called Flash.
If you see such a window, you should quit your browser(s) immediatly and if the window remains, proceed with the update.
You will have to quit all open browser(s) anyway to install the update.
You will need to provide your password for the update.
There is a tiny check box on the left that needs to be clicked if the "install" button doesn't seem to work.
If you don't want to update Flash, you should remove it from your computer as older versions are a very high security risk.
It is not unusual, to have what may appear to be, many updates to Flash. It is updated often for security issues. As well as Silverlight.
Bookmark this link to check your browser plug in status.
    https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
Note: The white window with "Adobe Flash Player Install Manager" with the "Deny" and "Allow" buttons you will not see, that's security software called LittleSnitch, that I have installed to warn me of any unusual outgoing Internet connections.

  • How do I move all my iphoto picture files to an external hard drive and then remove iphoto '11 from my computer?

I would like to remove iphoto '11 from my computer completely because it is causing too many issues.  I would like to ensure that my picture files are safe and stored in an external hard drive.  How do I copy the picture files to an external hard drive without taking the iphoto application files with them? Also, do I need to keep the originals, modified, and masters files of each picture?

My iphoto has been unresponsive, and I am unable to do anything once I launch the application.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
As to migrating to Aperture: It will import the iPhoto Library and maintain the relationships between Masters and Previews/ Originals and Modified versions.
There is no way to recreate those relationships in any other app.

  • Probable effects of removing Sold-to from invoice header?

    hi
we have a requirement of doing collective billing by Payer and for that we need to remove Sold-to partner details from invoice header to avoid billing split.
We are achieving this by using copy control routine to suppress Sold-to from delivery and (ii) removing Sold-to from header partner procedure of billing type to avoid prevent split due to different Sold-to in preceding documents. (and maintain Sold-to at invoice item level)
Removing Sold-to from header partner procedure was required as otherwise the split indicator UNGLEICH=X was set and we could not find any user exit to set UNGLEICH = space in program LV60AB14 ( SAP ver 4.7 ).
While we are trying to assess the effects of removing Sold-to from invoice header, I would lile to know opinion of others about probable effects of doing such; if anybody has done same thing in past, please help.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
As such removing sold to from invoice header will not pose any risk to the process. It is very much possible to have an invoice without SP. You can very well do this and go ahead.
However you can test this by deleting the SP at header level while creating an invoice document on collective basis, and making the payment for the customer. The only place where I have little doubt is about the "Receivables from the customer(sold to party):" in FBL5N. Here we  may have some problems in updating the open items in Receivables and updating the payments. So please do the configuration and test this until payment to find out any errors. Along with this, also run a test on Credit Mngt. If there are no implications in Credit Mngt, and Payments in FI, you are safe to continue this as a process.
The much simpler way to ensure SP not to be considered for invoice split will be to create a invoice split routine and code in such a way that SP is not a factor for splitting the invoices.
So evaluate both of them of their advantage and risk and then decide.

  • Is it safe to remove default kernel?

I've installed linux-ck kernel from repo-ck with nvidia GPU support. Why don't linux-ck and nvidia-ck replace the respective default kernel packages? Is it safe to remove the default kernel like this "# pacman -R linux nvidia" (I boot with linux-ck)? I'm asking because there are often updates to linux package and I don't use it.

The -ck kernels don't overwrite the kernel, and IDK about the AUR custom kernels, but it's possible to overwrite the stock kernel, especially if you're lazy about looking at the pkgbuild or your own script. I have before. It's not a big deal unless you're missing, you know, like, your disk and keyboard modules.
If you are worried create backup copies of initramfs-linux.img, vmlinuz-linux, initramfs-linux-fallback.img in /boot, and a grub entry for them... it'll be like nothing changed!

As far as I know if you are using Managed mode, mcf.* properties should not matter. Adapter should use these mcf.* properties only in non-managed mode.
Please confirm if how you are suing adapter (Managed/NonManaged)?
    Thanks

  • How can I completely remove Java JRE from my system?

    Hi,
the installation of an earlier version of JRE didn't finish properly (1.5.??), since then it isn't possible at all neither to deinstall it nor to install ANY version (stops on extraction of the installation files, the process must be killed by the task manager!). It seems as if there are some incorrect statements left in the registry.
When I try to install the latest version, it stops with a "missing version information" error.
Is there any possibility to remove ALL statements belonging to Java out of the registry without doing it manually, so that I can install the latest version? Or does anyone of you have a better idea?
    THX,
    Christian

If the uninstaller has already lost some files, it will be diffcult to uninstall properly from Add/remove programs. Its better to remove the entry from registry.Actually you can do it safe without much problem. If no other versions of java are installed, delete the javasoft key (entire tree)from LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE. Then reinstall jdk.It should splve the problem
