Is it safe to remove the diskutility.log?

Is just a simple question. My disk utility log has grown to several megabytes so I was wondering if its safe to delete the diskutility.log file? It is found in ~/Library/Logs/...
Also does this log has an importance after repairing the harddrive permissions?
Thanks!

Thanks! I deleted the log and so far so good. Thanks Kappy... Wonder why theres' no correct answer button anyways thanks for your correct answer...

  • Remove the flashback logs in EBS envoirnment.

    Hi,
    In my production database(primary) machine flashback is ON.
    So, logs are creating in following directory:
    /d01/silprod/SILP/db/apps_st/data/archives/SILP01_SER/flashback
    In my physical standby database flashback is OFF.
    So, My question is that:
    Can I remove the flashback logs from production safely?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    How to identified that which archive logs no longer needed and can delete, and how to reclaim the archive space?
    Is below steps are correct?
    Archive location: /d01/silprod/SILP/db/apps_st/data/archives/SILP01_SER/archivelog
    Archive files name like: o1_mf_1_894_5jpkly8k_.arc -------------> Sequence#=894
    Archive Size occupied:
    > du -sh archivelog/ ------------> 2.7G archivelog/
    STEP#1:
    SQL> SELECT THREAD#, SEQUENCE# FROM V$LOG WHERE STATUS='CURRENT'; -----------> RESULT: THREAD#=1 AND SEQ$= 894
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;---------------->DONE
    SQL> SELECT THREAD#, SEQUENCE# FROM V$LOG WHERE STATUS='CURRENT'; -----------> RESULT: THREAD#=1 AND SEQ$= 895
    Confirm the current file have been applied to the standby database with the below query
    SQL> SELECT MAX(SEQUENCE#) FROM V$LOG_HISTORY; -----------------> RESULT: THREAD#=1 AND SEQ$= 894
    Step#2:(Memory)
    > delete unwanted archive log files from disk (rm, del commands)---------> all archives files deleted expected of PROD_1_894.arc
    RMAN> crosscheck archivelog all; - marks the controlfile that the archives have been deleted
    RMAN> delete expired archivelog all; - deletes the log entries identified above.
    But, How to identified that which flashback files no longer needed and can delete, and how to reclaim the flashback space?
    Flashback location: /d01/silprod/SILP/db/apps_st/data/archives/SILP01_SER/flashback
    Flashback files name like: o1_mf_5jlc8gb0_.flb, o1_mf_5jlcb2bv_.flb etc ------------> how to identified which file(File Name has no sequence#) should I delete?
    Flashback Size occupied:
    > du -sh flashback/ ------------> 3.5G flashback/

    You eee, every day my ipad ios 5.01 crashes multiple times.  Usually in safari.  But now even atomic browser is starting with the same thing.  What ever happened to apple?

    I always shut down apps. Usually only have safari and settings.  I clear data and history. Hard reboot   Turned off all use of icloud  Etc etc. nothing works.
    I should simply accept this buggy OS?  Wow. Okay. Sure. Youre right. No choice but to.  That seems to be apples intention.  After all, the next big thing is... Next couple weeks right?
    Whatever happened to apple?

  • Remove the Error log from Order screen

    Hi,
    We are getting error below while order creation from webshop (B2C implementation)
    "No Connection could be made to IPC" This error comes when IPC down. And cleared the error also to IPC stop/start and done the price calculation successfully to using "Update" technique.
    But, still that error log is there in CRMD_ORDER screen in error logs area (red color button). How to clear/remove this error from this screen?
    Please any one help me out on this...
    Thnx,
    Suriya.

    Hi Suriya
    Prakash is right, if you want to delete the error message from the existing doc, please follow waht he said.
    But there is a possibility that you get run-time errors when you edit the same again. The document with error was created with a config in place. Now if you change the config, this will not change the existing docs but will change the documents from now
    As Prakash suggested do the error deletion process in test mode or Sandbox, then see if you get any Runtime errors, otherwise
    I would suggest
    try deleting the one the inputs like item and other stuff on the document. this should take the error off. Please let me if this works,

  • Is it safe to remove setup32/setup64 files from the uninstall\third party directory?

    Hi Raj,
    The “Everyone” share access is a remnant of legacy Exchange functionality (pre-Exchange 5.0).
    For Exchange 2003, we do not see any Microsoft Exchange 2003 dependencies upon those shares.
    From the Exchange perspective, it is safe to remove the “Everyone” share permission.
    However, there may be any 3rd party applications which still use Exchange 2003 in a legacy fashion, their ability to access proxy DLLs/addressing templates, and reading diagnostic logging pages may be hampered.
    To mitigate such a risk, I suggest we can replace “Everyone” with “Authenticated Users” in order to bypass any audit concerns, yet still allow 3rd party applications to access those shares. Additionally, here is a KB descripted the detailed functions about
    these shared folder:

  • Is it possible to remove an action log entry from a ticket?

    Hello.
    Is it possible to remove an actoin log entry from a ticket.  We may run into a situation when confidential data has been pasted into the action log.
    Thank you,
    Richard

    Yes, but not through the UI. the easiest way to do this would be with
    SMLets.
    Import-Module SMLets
    $IRClass = Get-scsmclass Workitem.Incident$
    $SRClass = Get-SCSMClass Workitem.ServiceRequest$
    $ActLogRelationshipClass = get-scsmrelationshipclass System.WorkItem.TroubleTicketHasActionLog
    $IR = Get-SCSMObject -Class $IRClass -Filter "Name -eq 'IR21'"
    $ActionLogs = Get-SCSMRelatedObject -SMObject $IR -Relationship $ActLogRelationshipClass
    Foreach ($ActionLog in $ActionLogs) {
    if ( $ActionLog.Description -match "TEST") {
    Remove-SCSMObject $ActionLog -Force -WhatIf
    It should be noted that this will not remove the action log form the data warehouse. there isn't a supported method to edit data in the DW, so you're kinda on your own if you need to remove this data from the historical records

  • Safe to remove battery and run on AC?

    Hi, I got my macbook for college. Since it's summer, I'm only using it at home but I don't want to waste my battery cycles. Is it safe to remove the battery from the computer and only use power from the MagSafe power adapter?

    By default if it senses no battery the CPU will be "throttled" - reduced to half speed. In addition should the MagSafe adapter be accidentally disconnected (it's pretty easy) you'll end up with an uncontrolled shutdown, which could be pretty bad depending on what you're doing. If there's a hard drive write occurring, that could be really bad. The battery is supposed to effectively serve as an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) as well as a supplemental power source when the adapter itself can't handle the load. I suspect the CPU is throttled to prevent it from maxing out the adapter power.

  • Is the CALL LOG feature GONE???!?!?!?!?!?

    Someone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me that BB did not remove the CALL LOG feature (that was on the Torch)!  This is HORRIBLE!!!  If I wanted a phone that did not allow me to be productive, I would have activated my iPhone!!! PLEASE BRING THE CALL LOG FEATURE BACK!!!  I might officially HATE the Q10!

    I wasn't specific enough.
    On previous BBs there was a call log feature which enabled users to access call logs and forward the call details including whether it was outgoing or incoming call, the telephone number called or calling in, the time of the call, and the duration of the call.   Users were able to add call notes directly into the history of the call (including during the call) and email it or save it.  Unfortunately, it appears that BB has gotten rid of this feature. Why they would do  that is beyond me.     That feature was one of the BEST features for people like myself who need to maintain a written record of calls and contacts.    he proposed workaround that I have found is the Call Notes App which is virtually useless.
    I'm going back to the BB Torch.  This Q10 is the PITS!.

  • Is it safe to remove default kernel?

    I've installed linux-ck kernel from repo-ck with nvidia GPU support. Why don't linux-ck and nvidia-ck replace the respective default kernel packages? Is it safe to remove the default kernel like this "# pacman -R linux nvidia" (I boot with linux-ck)? I'm asking because there are often updates to linux package and I don't use it.

    The -ck kernels don't overwrite the kernel, and IDK about the AUR custom kernels, but it's possible to overwrite the stock kernel, especially if you're lazy about looking at the pkgbuild or your own script. I have before. It's not a big deal unless you're missing, you know, like, your disk and keyboard modules.
    If you are worried create backup copies of initramfs-linux.img, vmlinuz-linux, initramfs-linux-fallback.img in /boot, and a grub entry for them... it'll be like nothing changed!

  • Safe to remove linux kernel when using linux-lts kernel?

    I'm using the `linux-lts` kernel on my work machine (less reboots after updates); I know in theory it should be safe to remove the normal `linux` kernel (and it's dependencies) but does anyone know if it is safe in practice? Nothing that assumes there will always be a `linux` package because without it there couldn't be a running system?

    This should be as easy to figure out, as comparing dependencies can be:
    linux-lts:
    Required By (5)
    archboot
    nvidia-lts
    r8168-lts
    virtualbox-archlinux-modules-lts
    virtualbox-modules-lts
    linux:
    Required By (15)
    archboot
    cdfs
    fcpci
    fcpcmcia
    lirc
    ndiswrapper
    nvidia
    open-vm-tools-modules
    r8168
    rt3562sta
    vhba-module
    virtualbox-archlinux-modules
    virtualbox-archlinux-modules (testing)
    virtualbox-modules
    virtualbox-modules (testing)
    That might mean, most notably, that infrared ports and cdemu-driven image mounts won't work with the lts kernel (or at least should not without pulling in the normal kernel).

  • What is the diffrence between cookies and cache, is it safe to remove cache?

    what is the difference between cookies and cache , is it safe to remove cache ? . I had cleaned cookies many times but I have not removed cache , does it goes on increasing day by day ? please let me know

    Cookies are small files that contain information useful to a web site -- such as password, preferences, last date visited, etc. You may remove the cookies that you don't want adn since some of them are a privacy issue, many people remove them all.
    Cache is just a collection of data downloaded to help display a web page. After you leave a site, much of the cache is left on your computer and is no longer needed. You can always remove the cache because it will be replaced as needed.

    - Note that apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

    i want to know how do remove the id suggestion that keep popping up every time i fill a form or try logging on on a site. i got a computer from someone and its bugging when all his ids keep appearing. i've tried removing the saved passwords and everything but everytime i fill a form.. they're still there. is there any way i can get rid of them. thanks.

    Select the item (arrow down or move cursor) but don't click on it, then press the "Del", users on a Mac would do the same but must continue to use the older shortcut "Shift+Del".
