Is it safe to update my iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) to iOS 5.0.1 (9A406) on my iPhone 4S?

I have an iPhone 4S and its not jailbroken. So just wanted to know few things about :
Is it safe to update iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) to iOS 5.0.1 (9A406) on my iPhone 4S (because i heard theres some link with the hackers or something)?
What is Siri Port?
Will this update solve my battery drainage issues ?
Why doesn't this update show up when I look out for software update on my iPhone or on iTunes?
And does the update have issues already (like SIM recognition problem or something)?
Please help! Thanks in advance.

  • ITunes 10.5.1 doesn't recognize my iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) Laptop OS Windows XP. Please help

iTunes 10.5.1 doesn't recognize my iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) Laptop OS Windows XP. When I connect iPhone to laptop, iTunes sends me an alert:" This iPhone can't be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started". This started right after I have upgraded iTunes from 10.5 to 10.5.1. Please help !

Thanks for the hint ! I used the following link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
    2. Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled
    3. Reinstall iTunes and related components
Had to remove all Apple related softwares and utilities, and re-install all back. iTunes recognizes my phone now ! Cheers !

  • Is it safe to update to iOS 5.1.1?

    Hi,
I have an iPad 2 (64GB WiFi) running 4.3.3 and an iPhone 4 (16GB) running 4.3.5 and would like to know if it is safe to update to iOS 5.1.1?
I've been doing some "Googling" and reading through this forum and what I found is not filling me with confidence... I know the much used "this is like a hospital and only sick people come here" answer, but boy there are lots of "sick people" around with iOS5 problems....
From my research I have found the following major problems:
Battery drain (will this ever go away???)
Problematic WiFi connections after update (worked fine before)
Safari crashes on sites with lots of pictures and video
Apps crashing more than they are actually working (all worked fine before update)
Unresponsiveness of device (as if it is not quite capable of running iOS5)
    SIM card read errors (iPhone)
Bluetooth no longer connecting to factory fitted bluetooth car systems (iPhone)
My only previous update is experience is with a 3rd generation iPod Touch which after the update to iOS4 (which broke the video app) and then iOS5 (which at least fixed the video app) is only good for playing music. It so laggy that doing anything else with it is basically impossible.
The iPad 2 & iPhone 4 were designed for iOS4 and not iOS5. Are the iPad 2 & iPhone 4 processors up to the task of fully running iOS5 and specifically 5.1.1 without any glitches and lagging? I'd rather stay on the current version than having my user experience tanked by devices that it not quite capable of running the new version of iOS problem free. I am not one of those people that MUST have the latest version of iOS not matter what. My devices working reliably is much more imporatant that a flashy new iOS. I know Apple says that they are compatible, but they also said that iOS4 & iOS5 will run on a 3rd generation iPod Touch and it just does not....
Any comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Jamie

Talking about iOS 4 to iOS 5 in general, I don't see why not to update. iMessage, iCloud and all the new features. There is nothing wrong with 5.1.1 and no serious bugs. Most people's issues here are not related to the OS they are running. Then there are the habitual whiners who create accounts just to tell us that battery life is awful, but they do that after every update. After a week, they all disappear. So update. I can almost guarantee you won't have any issues, and you get all iOS 5 features. You won't regret it. <<=== Base on this justification, let me tell you what i have encountered with you guarantee.
After 2 week of upgrade from iOS 5.1.1, this is what I have encountered.
    1) Replace my old SIM Card, as it was totally corrupted by iOS 5.1.1
    2) 2 weeks after new SIM Card replacement, [No SIM Card Installed] error emerged. Eventually, you are required to reboot your devices everytime just to ensure your iPhone is back to normal.
If the above, is not an issue; please proceed with his guarantee and upgrade.
If one person complaint No SIM Card Installed issue, you can Blame on bad LUCK. Yet there are alot of people started to post about it; tell me it is their BAD LUCK as well?? There is some definate condition where cause this error.
GOOD LUCK on upgrading to iOS 5.1.1, You NEED it.
As of now, i am just praying when iOS 6 came out; i have not choice to consider upgrade.

  • Is it safe to update my iPhone to IOS 5? I have backed it up, synced it, and transferred my purchases but I still get the error message...

So, yes. Backed up, synced, and I have all my purchases transferred... The thing is, I just got a MacBook Pro for my birthday, and I get the error message saying "Updating to iOS 5.1.1 will delete all of the apps and media, including iTunes Store purchases, on your iPhone. To preserve your content, apply this update on the computer where you sync apps, music, videos, and photos.. "
The computer I had been previously using simply would not recognise that iOS5 was available (it was a Windows PC; this is my first apple computer.)
So... Is it safe to update it?
What would I have to do to qualify this laptop as the "computer where I normally sync"?

If everything is on your computer, as it should be, then you are safe.
    Not sure what you want.
Your iphone simply mirros the selected content of your computer.  If all of your content is on your computer, then it will be on your iphone.

  • Is it safe to update my iphone 4s to ios 7.1.1

is it safe to update my iphone 4s to ios 7.1.1

Well mine is a brick now because of it. Since the exact day of updating my 4S has been a mess.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/26093562#26093562
I watched it charge up in 20% increments at first. Switching plugged and unplugged status while plugged in.
Took it in to Verizon and they told me the phone looked fine and the battery tested fine. Noted they were seeing a lot of people coming in with similar issues. Associates claimed it was something in the software.
A few weeks later my phone has managed to drop its charge while plugged in and is now a paperweight.
I don't advise it. If you look close enough there are several people reporting the same or similar issues since updating. Simple Yes and No responses are just presumptuous.

  • Is it safe to update ios 7.0.4 to ios 7.1.1?

I'm using Iphone 5s with ios7.0.4. Is it safe to update my ios to 7.1.1. because I've a read a lot of forums including here in apple communities that some iphone was bricked after they downloaded and installed the update, some cases find their WIFI malfunctioning and other users experiencing their iphone batterly life drained faster. Any comment, suggestion, tips, or violent reactions?

I've never had any of those problems. I have two iPads - a 2 and Air - two iPod Touches - 4 and 5 - and two iPhone 5Cs. I take care of them, I don't install crappy apps, I keep plenty of memory free. If you have battery life problems see

  • Is it safe to update to latest version using Itunes??

hi guys I just want to know if its safe to update to the latest version using itunes and if it wont damage or delete all apps in my iphone 3g?

Since updating the iOS in iTunes is the only approved way, why do you think it might ruin or jailbreak the phone??
Updating the iOS doesn't normally delete anything from the phone but it's always best to sync and backup the phone in case something goes wrong.

I'm using Iphone 5 .After updating it with the latest software i.e iOS 7.0.6 I'm not able to see the wats app and imsg on my notification center when my phone is locked until and unless i activate the "Show on Lock Screen" under each application. which was not same as in the earlier software version.I dnt want my messages or watsapp msges to be displayed on home screen when locked but should be displayed on the notification center on lock condition.
Please suggest a solution or @Apple please get a software release which can remove this bug .

We aren't Apple, just users like you. Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
