Is it safe to update to the newest firmw
Ok, so my Zen MicroPhoto got broken beyond recovery (the famous "Hardware Problem"-problem) and Creative Belgium is going to send me a new one/fix my old one.... When I receive my repaired/replaced mp3 player, is it safe for me to apply the latest firmware update or not? On my broken one, I did not do anything wrong, just run the firmware programme, and all of a sudden the player was dead. I don't want to break my repaired/replaced one too.
Had i to guess, i'd say your replacement unit will probably have the newest firmware installed, but i could be wrong. Lots of people have had no issues with the updates(me included, but i waited a year to pull the trigger) but lots have. Things to verif before doing the upgrade:
Make sure your pc is in good shape, turn off virus scan and malware scans for the duration of the upgrade.
makesure the usb connection to the player is straight to your pc, not through a hub, keyboard, monitor, etc, and make sure the cable is good.
I formatted my player before and after the upgrade.
I also made sure no other usb devices were acti've at the time of the upgrade.
turn off your screen saver and shut off power saving
if you have are updating from a laptop, plug it in.

Updated to the newest IOS yesterday, now my iMac won't load up.
Finally got around to updating to the newest OS yesterday. Rebooted yesterday to complete installation and computer worked fine. This morning, when I boot up,it only gets to the grey screen with the apple and stays there. HELP....this is a busines computer. I can't even get it into safe mode.
Try this:
Unplug all peripherals (external drives, printers, hubs) and network cables.
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -
I just updated to the newest version of firefox for my mac laptop. It keeps crashing when I open the browser and does so even in safe mode. Laptop is about two years old. Might it be an issue with the OS? I have not updated to Leopard yet.
It seems that the problem is related to fonts.
(1) How were you updating your operating system ?
If you use *_Software Update_*, hurry up, download and apply the combo updater available from :
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
but CAUTION, this update introduce a serious problem with some fonts. At this time the only workaround available is to reinstall 10.6 tyhen apply the combo updater 10.6.6 available from :
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1349
(2) if you didn't used *_Software Update_*, run a maintenance tool like the free MAINTENANCE available from :
http://www.titanium.free.fr/index_us.html
Apply it to clear caches files, mainly those dedicated to fonts.
It would be also a good idea to check the health of your fonts with FontBook.

So I just updated to the newest update that was available for safari and iTunes but now it won't let me go on the Internet using safari and it also won't let me sync my songs ,,,,,(it takes forever to backup my iPad AND my iPod) so what can I do ?
If you're on windows try the following:
This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
1. Quit itunes
2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
4. press ENTER
5. Reboot your machine
6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync

My ipod is no longer syncing with itunes however, my ipone does. Everything is updated to the newest versions, itunes 10.5 and Mac OSx 10.6.8.
What happens when you try to sync? Error messages?

I recently updated to the newest version of Flash (17.0.0.134) and I have a MacBook Air, running OS X and I have Safari version 8.0.4. Ever since the update I can no longer select drop down menus or get Netflix to run properly. Has anyone else had this issue/know how to resolve it?

Firefox has been crashing all the time after I updated to the newest version. I tried to uninstalled firefox and all addons. Restarted the computer to reinstall Firefox and it's still crashing all the time. Please help.

My Mac Mini doesn't recognize my Avengers DVD--it keeps saying "Supported disc not available." I've tried other DVD's which work, but not this one. itunes and everything else has been updated to the newest versions. Help? Also...It doesn't recognize the digital copy DVD.

It sure sounds to me like something on the iPod is broken. If it's under warranty then I would send it back for repair. If not, check out some of the web repair services, such as iPodResQ etc. -

My iPhone 5 is not allowing updating to the newest iOS version 6.1.3. I missed doing the 6.1.2 update before 6.1.3 was available. It wants to install the 6.1.2 update, but, once I agree to the terms it tells me I can't because I am not connected to the Internet. It is connected to the net, as proved by surfing and iTunes, both by LTE and wireless. I have tried both a full shutdown as well as the most of the easy tricks to, like with apps updates, to get it to refresh. Has anyone had this issue since the 6.1.3 release, and is there an easy way to resolve the conflict.
The next iOS update won't change this.
Are you able to transfer anything else from your iTunes library and computer via the iTunes sync process such as a movie, TV show, podcast, audio or print book, apps, and photos from your computer?
What is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. -
I updated to the newest version of iTunes and now I can not open the program. I get the message "The file iTunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes". What now? I'm using Windows Vista.
Had same problem and solved it without having to reinstore any music or movies:
1. Delete old Library file
2. Go to the 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder and copy one of the earlier files - note, they have a date extension, e.g. 'iTunes Library 2011-11-01'.
3. Paste this file in your iTuners folder and rename file by removing the date extension - 'iTunes Library'
You should have all your music and paylists in tact, unless it was a really old previous file. -

Just updated to the newest version of iTunes, when connecting it prompts me to update my iPhone to the newest version of IOS; however, when I hit download it says I have purchases that need to sync but where and how do I do this on the newest version? It isn't doing it automatically and I am unable to find the sync button that was available on previous versions of iTunes. I would hate to think that I'm going to lose the many purchases that I've made, someone please help!

Should I update to the newest iPhoto from Mavericks, before installing Yosemite?
I have a 13" MacBook Pro with a 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 16 GB memory (1607 MHz DDR3), and a 1 TB Samsung SSD hard drive. I have Mavericks 10.9.5 on it, and iPhoto 8.1.2 (iPhoto '09). I'm about to update to Yosemite, but I've read about people having problems with iPhoto and iPhoto Library after the update. Should I update to the newest version of iPhoto before updating to Yosemite? Is there anything else I should know about installing these updates?

Two possibilities there: one is that you've phrased the question in a way different from other posters with the same issue or not very many people have the issue.
and why Apple hasn't put more info/help files out there about the havoc that can be wrought upon iPhoto libraries if app and system software updates are not done in the correct order.
I'm really not sure what you're referring to here. You can't update to iPhoto 9.6 unless you're already on 10.10. There simply is no way to do it in the 'wrong order'. And there is no evidence that the order of updating makes a whit of difference to a Library anyway. You may have read about people having problems after an update - read more. There are always people who have issues after updates - updates of any app on any OS. The reasons can vary widely - everything from pre-existing issues on the host machine, faulty download, faulty installer, minor directory and disk damage. So, I really would not read too much into it. -

OK, a couple questions for you. You say you have "the latest" iOS update installed on your iPhone, but you don't mention what version that is. Would you please tell us what the version number is for your iPOS installation? Also, you have the "banner" on your Settings App, but is the banner for in iOS update, or is it for something else? Do you have a new provile, or an expiring profile, or possibly Notifications that may be triggering that?

I Have updated to the newest update which is 8.1.2 after updating anytime I try to type up a message in Facebook or gmail I am unable to see my screen where I type my message, so am typing my messages blindly. Is there a fix for this?
The Split Keyboard feature may have been enabled accidentally when you updated.
If the keyboard is up on the middle of the screen, or covering text and the text is not moving up as expected - tap and hold down on the little keyboard and icon and select - Dock
You can turn the split keyboard off in Settings>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard>Off.
