Is it save to use ipad for internet banking?

it is not as safe over 3G
Why do you say that?  I thought an https connection over 3g is no less (or more) secure than an https connection over wifi or hardline connection?
Personally, I never use web sites for financial transactions though on my mobile devices.  I prefer to use the bank or financial institutions own app (most seem to have one).  I know my bank's app uses strong encryption from the very initiation of the session.

  • Can I use iPad for internet games?

Can I play Scrabble at Pogo.com using a WiFi iPad? They no longer allow me to use a 10.4 OS PowerbookG4 or my Mac G5 due to Java and Flash updates which no longer work on the older OS.  I am 70 years old, have had Macs since invented and I am not interested in an entirely new computer setup. What I have still works fine for everything else I need a computer to do and for 99% of the websites I visit. Why Pogo has chosen to exclude older technologies (and we're only talking about about 5 years here) is a mystery. But it seems it's no longer possible to use OS 10.4 with the older Safari, Java and Flash there anymore. Thanks for any help you can offer. Apple used to produce products which were easily updated. I only bought 3 new computers over 30 years, the last just 6 years ago but I see Microsoft-type marketing at play here when perfectly good hardware has to be replaced in such a short amount of time. For a lot of us in this country,  Social Security doesn't give you any wiggle room for the March of Time.

If it uses Flash then no you can't play it on an iPad

  • Using firefox for internet banking with ING (the netherlands gives a problem that I did not see before.

When trying to approve the payment (via TAN code) Firefox does not continue to finalize it. Contact with the ING bank confirmed this problem popped up. They advised to use Internet Explorer instead. Indeed with Internet Explorer everything worked OK. ING suspects Firefox not accepting their website as a save site anymore. Can I define ING as a save website to overcome the problems and if yes where do I do this?
In the ING system as soon as you want to pay the system asks for a Tan code which is provided by SMS. You fill in the TAN code and press the continue button. Normally then the payment is made. Unfortunately this did not work anymore. It worked in the past. Other functionality on the ING sites worked OK!

i didn't read a lot of your 2nd paragraph, but it seems like the password is the issue, right?
    do a true clean install
reboot your machine and hold down command+option+r, you should see a spinning globe - if you don't see the globe or anything that reads internet recovery, shut down and try again
at menu, chose disk utility and once there, find your HD on the left side, select the physical name and erase it as mac journaled
    exit disk utlity
    at menu, choose install OSX
this time, when it asks for a password just hit continue, it will let you complete without a password
you should be able to get into your laptop, now figure out what password you'll be able to use with your kb issue

  • Is the iPad safe for Internet banking?

Is the ipad secure for Internet banking?

Nothing in the world is 100 safe from everything.   Having said that,  most major banks have specific apps to accees their services .  Others, you access over the net the same as if you were using a pc.   I have been 100 dependant on the pad for banking connections and have had zeor problems.
It is at least as safe as any other computer banking approach.

  • Use airport for internet and ethernet for local?

Hi. Ive searched around and cant find an answer for this.
I have a 27" imac connected to my router and all works fine for accessing the internet.
I have several other devices close by that I want to connect via ethernet. If i connect the imac to another router via ethernet I can browse my local devices but loose internet connectivity. It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected. I don't want my second router to act as a bridge as it doesn't support N speeds.
Essentially, I want the imac to use airport for internet and the ethernet port for local files.... The only workaround I have is to unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the imac when i want to use the internet. I'm hoping it's just a DNS issue, but cant seem to resolve it.
I do not need internet connectivity for the other devices and don't see how i can do that without enabling the wireless side of my second router and then creating a bridge...
    Any suggestions?

It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected.
The Connection Order on your iMac is set so that if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", the iMac will give priority to the Ethernet connection.
If you want to configure your iMac so that it gives priority to an AirPort connection if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", give this a try:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock) and open Network
Click on the small gear icon at the bottom of the connection list on the left
Click on Set Service Order and drag AirPort to the top of the connection order list
    Click OK, then click Apply
Now, if both AirPort and Ethernet are active, your iMac will give priority to the AirPort connection. If you want to connect using Ethernet, you will have to turn AirPort off by clicking the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of your computer screen.

  • Can i use cdma for internet and gsm for phone at a time in Iphone4s?

Can i use cdma for internet and gsm for phone at a time in Iphone4s?

No. Phones sold by GSM carriers can't access CDMA at all and phones sold by CDMA carriers can only access GSM if they are a) unlocked and b) in an area where there is not CDMA.
    Best of luck.

  • WGA 600N and using it for internet on a Windows 7 PC

    Hello
I am trying to use my WGA 600N to get internet in my PC. I have previously configured this unit and used it with my Xbox 360 with no problems. I can get on the ip address of 192.168.1.250 and connect to my wifi. The problem i am having is getting the computer to recognize the WGA 600 N as an internet gateway with windows 7.
I have tried two things so far: Setting my pc to a static ip address of 192.168.1.100 and setting the gateway to 192.168.1.250. This did not work. The next thing I tried was to change the WGA 600 n to enable DHCP, after this I have not been able to see the unit as I don't know what IP address it settled on. I imagine there is something I am not setting right, I contacted support at Cisco and the tech told me that this was doable and they had a solution but i would need to pay 30 dollars to proeceed since the unit was out of warranty, help!

My provider is quest with dsl. The broadband comes through a router that goes into a LinkSys E1000 router that goes through the house. The gaming adapter can connect to this router using the setup CD and works with my XBox. I just moved a computer to the other room and wish to use it for internet on it now.

  • Can I use wifi for internet, while ethernet only for local network?

Hello everyone.  We have two internet connections at our office.  One is wifi only -- but fastest uploads.  The other is connected to our ethernet network (and very slow).  Really, it's not much a network -- just iMacs connected to a switcher.  When transferring files between iMacs, obviously we want to remain connected to ethernet.  But when uploading and downloading files, the wifi option is quickest (long story why -- our offices next door, can't run a physical line yet, yadda yadda).
So we find ourselves constantly switching between the two in network preferences.  Not only is this a pain, but it doesn't allow us to upload or download directly to a drive on the network.
Is there a way to tell the preferences to use wifi for internet, and ethernet for the local network (without internet)?
(We have updated mountain lion on i7 imacs, and most recent airport extreme)
    Thanks!

Your downstairs router can be installed anywhere in your home, but telephone companies or ISPs are only obligated to install their equipment just barely inside its service entrance. Usually, that location is the worst possible one for a home network, since it's in a basement or some remote corner, far from all the devices that use it.
Your idea to install an Ethernet cable to extend its reach to a more suitable location is an excellent one and will be worth the effort or expense. If you don't want to do it yourself a qualified electrician can perform the work quickly and elegantly, and you may find the cost surprisingly affordable. Ask your friends and neighbors to recommend a reputable electrician and get a written estimate.

  • Use iTunes for internet radio - settings question

    Hi all,
I have a Linn Klimax DS (digital streaming) unit as part of an audio system, and that's being fed over my Cat5 network by a Twonky MediaServer installed on one of my mac's. That Twonky setup has SHOUTcast enabled and was serving internet radio fine and identified the stations until I installed iTunes 8 yesterday. I made the mistake of clicking on the button that says 'Use iTunes for Internet radio' in the preferences-> advanced->general pane.
Basically, I need to find out what precisely that setting actually does under the hood, so I can use the command line to reset that, turn it off, or undo basically what it did set.
Hope someone can shed a bit of light on that, maybe even just a hint, as I have been through the console logs, but haven't seen anything that jumps out at me. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Chris

    It's in Preferences>Advanced>General.

  • How to Disable "Use itunes for internet playback"?

I accidentally clicked the SET button in itunes which defaults itunes for internet playback.
    I do not want this.
    How do I revert back?
I DO NOT want to use itunes for internet playback and I can not find any way to shut it off.

Here's one way around it. For example, open iTunes, open the radio playlist and drag any station to the desktop. Highlight the icon, and click Command i. In the Info window there is a command "Open with:" It probably has iTunes as the default. If so, hold down the arrow for a menu of applications to choose from. (Mine has RealPlayer and Quicktime available.) If those aren't listed, choose "Other.." A window will open with available applications. Choose one and close the Info window. Open the application you've chosen. The controls will appear. Click Command o (Open). In the desktop window choose your radio station and play. I hope this works for you. It should work for any streaming source. Now if some body could tell me how to stop those irritating "rebuffering" interruptions, that'd be great.

  • How to unset the 'use itunes for internet music playback' option

In Advanced Preferences, I mistakenly clicked the SET button for "Use itunes for internet music playback". Since then, I have closed and opened itunes, so it appears the preference has been saved (the field is no longer highlighted)
I cannot find any way to unset this option. I want to unset this option. Could someone please tell me how?

I don't think that deleting the plist file will help.
Clicking that button sets the handler for a bunch of file types. You can't just unset it, you need to set the handler to something other than iTunes. Normally audio and video are handled by the Quicktime Plugin. You can restore that behavior in System Preferences:
System Preferences -> QuickTime (in the Internet and Network set) -> Advanced -> Mime Settings...
You may have other plugins or programs you want to use for some formats (like .wmv or .avi). Those programs should be able to reclaim the file and MIME types from their preferences.

  • Unsetting Option -- Use iTunes for Internet Music Playback

In the advanced pane of the iTunes Systems Preferences, there is an Option -- "Use iTunes for Internet Music Playback". You can click on the SET button to use this feature.
But how do you UNSET it? I no longer want to use ITunes for Internet Music Playback.
I am running iTunes 7.02 and Tiger 10.4.8.

  • Can I use Ethernet for Internet connection and Airport express for printer

How / can I use Ethernet for Internet connection and use an airport express to set up wifi for printer and Apple TV?
    Macbook Pro. OS X 10.9.4

I've never tried it, so I don't know what the results will be.
However, you can move Ethernet to the top of the Services list in Network System Prefs which will cause it to be the Internet source. There is a command in the gear menu to set the Service order.  However, after thinking about it, if there isn't an internet connection via Wi-Fi, it might automatically drop down to the Ethernet connection.
Then, you can set up your Wi-Fi so that it doesn't connect to the Internet, as Linc stated. How to do that would be dependent on the Router.
