Hi, I need to know if you think it's stupid having
An iphone ipad and a MacBook Air. Now I want
An iPod touch 5th gen. I just love apple products
I am thinking of having it to store more things so
When I have not much space left on iPhone and ipad
I can store things on the iPod. I think it's more a question of
I just want it as it will be nice to put in with the rest of my apple

To activate your phone, you need a SIM card from the carrier to whom it's locked. The SIM needn't be active, but it needs to be present, nonetheless.
There's no way around this step.

Installed latest softward for my ipad 2 and now it want's me to connect to iTunes and restore to factory settings!? What do I do? I can't access the iPad2 other than a screen that shows a plug being inserted into the iTunes logo.

So I saw that my software needed to be updated, so I did it over wifi, then a picture with the plug being inserted into the iTunes logo appears on the screen when finished the install. I plug my iPad 2 into the connector and iTunes sees the iPad 2 connected. Then a window opens that says to restore to use iTunes. I click restore and a second message appears stating something to the effect "Are you sure you want to restore to factory setting all info will be lost."
NO I don't want to loose everything.
My iPad only powers on with the image of a cord pugging into the iTunes logo. I can't get past it and I don't want to restore the iPad 2 to factory settings.
What do I do?

Ok heres the deal, I have 3.1.3 on my Touch 32gb and I downloaded the oh so fabulous iOS 5.1.5 or whatever and now its "backing up iPod touch" but it gets stuck at like 1/4 the way thru the process and it doesn't complete. Whats the problem?

Can someone please help me? I can't believe they charge you to ask them a question this has to be the worst customer service by any company I've ever seen.

Now there's a thought. Apple actually provide free access to free information from other people who use iPods. Wow!
So to your problem. Which generation of iPod Touch do you have and where and how did you get iOS 5? Use this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for help in identifying your model. You need to do this (and then tell us) because older versions of Touch cannot install iOS 5 and the fact that you have iOS 3.1.3 on your iPod is cause enough to ask which model you have.
1st gen Touch can install up to iOS 3.1.3
2nd gen Touch can install up to iOS 4.2.1

My itunes is running really slow and will not recognise any of the 2 iphones 1 "3g" and 1 "4" or my ipod touch ?

i have uninstalled all apple software and re installed itunes .
i have checked my iphone at a retail store and it was found.
i have the latest version of ie "ie9" and itunes "10.2.2.12".

I agree that it should not really run slow however I would really like to upgrade to Lion anyway and thought that doing it via the SSD route would be good way to do it as the SSD should help speed things up once I sort out the underlying issue at present. I also wanted to try and load lion but still have Snow Leopard available on the original drive for the time being till I knew that eveything was working well using Lion but I'm not sure if this is possible and how to do to this.
I have just clicked on 'Verify disk' on HD1 in the utility menu and there is a problem there. It is asking for me to start using another disk such as the mac installation disc but I am not sure where I have put this. Seeing as I have upgraded to SL would this now be the new installation disc and if so, do I just put the disc in the machine and restart?

1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!
Please tell me I am not the only one!!
...and If I am tell me how to fix it!

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.

The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.

Yes it will, just sign out, then sign back in with the correct address.

the problems are ALWAYS in the reverse way, when you have the newest (or a newer) version of a given app, and wish to transfer its library to an older version.

I have been using Martin Jahn’s iBackup, with which I have become accustomed and works fine. It also makes daily backups. Its advantage over other apps is that you may add whatever you wish to save, beside its default settings (which you may delete or cancel, of course, even if not recommended); it also has a friendly interface and easily customizable. Of course, this is a personal view, you may try other methods as well, or other backup apps. All are good if you are satisfied and correspond to your needs.
