  • Playing games with MacBook Pro 13"

I have a MBP 13" and sometimes i like to play some games on. When I do that, I like getting it with fully charged battery, play my games by using only battery (without power source connection), and when it gets about 15% of battery I just turn it OFF and put on charge again (until battery achieve 100%).
Is that the best way to have a long battery lifetime? Or can I play games with my MPB plugged on power source?
    Thanks

Macs have never been known to be good game machines.  PCs are a much better option in that regard.
When using the MBP with resource intensive CPU/GPU applications such as games, it is best to use AC power if it is available.  That will ensure that therte will be sufficient electrical power as may be required.
The more you use the battery, the more 'wear and tear' you will place on it and lessen the life span.  I use my MBP connected to the charger as much as possible BUT at least once per month I will use it just with the battery to about the 40% charge level and then reconnect to the charger.  For maximum battery life, such periodic discharging is required.

Yes, simply close the app and you can continue to talk. However, the other person cant see you and you cant see them. You can only do an audio session.

  • Screen artifacts while playing games with catalyst

Hello. I recently switched back to Arch Linux (64-bit) and I'm running with the catalyst-hook package from Vi0L0's inofficial repository. When I play games, or also when I'm using hardware acceleration in VLC, these artifacts appear on the screen. They disappear quickly if you update the screen, so they are not so prevalent on the actual gaming screen. They however flood my second screen. In case of VLC they are just constantly blinking all over the place. I've googled the issue, but couldn't find anything that helped. If I alt-tab out of the game all artifacts disappear, but then reapper later after I've continued playing for a few minutes. This is very annoying.
Is there anything that can fix this? Please help!
This is the Xorg0.log right after I played a game where the issues occured:

  • After I downloaded the new version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262, I can't seem to play games with my friends on Yahoo Messenger.

It could be a coincidence but when I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 I can't seem to play any games on Yahoo Messenger with my friends. I know when I updated for some reason I had to try 3 times before it took it. It shows it's updated. I'm wondering if I have to un-install and re-install it. Also, I never use Internet Explorer 8 but when I went in there to check I found a plug in check link there and it showed over there that Adobe Flash Player needed updating but it was an older version and not the one Foxfire had me update too. Now I'm really confused if this is causing a problem. I have never had to check Internet Explorer for plug ins before. Have always just updated in Foxfire since that's what I use. The Adobe Flash Player seems to play videos okay so not really sure if that's the issue or not. My Java plug-ins have been fine and have been updated awhile ago, so I know it's not that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.
Thanks fore responding to my question.

  • Playing games with superdrive

I have just bought a superdrive to play starcraft 2 on my 15" macbook pro with retina display. When I put the cd in the superdrive, I heard the disk spin but nothing happened on the desktop. Nothing was detected and it was as if nothing was inserted into the drive. Is the usb superdrive able to play games or was I misled?

Yeah, that's the only other thing I was thinking of, the SuperDrive might be defected. I would suggest either going to the Apple Store to have them check it out or just go straight to returning it from whereever you bought it. If you decide to return it to the store/website you bought it from I would make sure the next one you buy is actually from Apple or that the third party CD/DVD reader has good reviews.
    Hope this helps,

  • Cant play games with EAX enab

Hello, I was hoping someone might have some advice for me. I recently installed an Audigy 2 ZS and have been unable to play any games with EAX enabled since (including the ones that came in my Gamer bundle). About 30 seconds after starting up the game i start getting horrible high pitched noises from my speakers and the game will act visually like its a skipping DVD(lagging hard?). The noises and skipping come in waves begginning about 0 seconds apart and progessi'vely getting worse so that 2 minutes later its just all lag and sounds like someone chiseling at a chalkboard. All problems seem to go away once i have disabled EAX in the game consoles. I have run the creative updater and gotten all the newest drivers, i have tried physically moving the card to the PCI slots at either end of the stack, i've tried seemingly every combination of settings within the MediaSource panels, just for fun i even tried different speakers. i've run out of ideas and dont know what to do.
    please help

    G RDRAM
    ATI RADEON 9800Pro 28
    Audigy2 ZS
    Logitech Z-5500 5. speakers

ok, nevermind that last post. Ive managed to get unique IRQs assigned for all devices (took some re-arranging and the discarding of a few non-essential PCI cards) but the problem remains. Also, this was probably totally unnecessary because apparently part of complying with the PCI 2. protocol (which this card says it does) is being able to share ICQs.
Also, I have tried as many of the options in that knowledge base article as i could (some of the BIOS options mentioned are not present on my system, etc) but the problem still persists.

  • If you have the iphone 5S, will you play games with Nintendo?

Yeah, I will play the games with Nintendo console again, for I can play the games with my r4 3ds xl card, it is really very interesting, is it right?

I cannot see why the iPhone should be anything to do with that card. How do you believe you are going to use the phone with a Nintendo console?

  • HT4137 I have two iPad's that use the same iTunes/store account. I want the two devices to play games with with other, but it recognizes them as the same. I have set up two different iCloud accounts, but still not recognizing the users as different. What

Hello, I have no idea if my question went out, so I'll post it again. I have two iPads (one 3rd gen and one 4th) that use the same iTunes/store account. I want the two devices to game with each other, but the apps recognize them as the same. I have created two different iCloud accounts in an attempt to differentiate between the two, but no luck. How can I continue to use the same iTunes/store account for music and movies, but also have the two devices recognize each other for games?

You can share your iTunes ID and still have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs, they don't have to be the same.  If you kids don't already have an iCloud account, have them set up separate accounts on their devices using separate IDs.  If they are already sharing your account, migrate their devices to separate accounts.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos they wish to keep to ther camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  If they are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to them so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in their new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from thier device and won't effect your device), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone (if using iOS 7).  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create their new account and choose Merge to upload the data.  Once everyone is on a separate account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into each account separately and delete your data from their account.

  • Can't play game with multiple CD's in Classic

I am running OS 10.4 on my iBook G4 (one that cannot run OS9 native).
I successfully installed and played for about an hour a game called "Obsidian" (1996). About an hour into the game, I was asked to "Please insert Disc 2." However, Disc 1 was not automatically ejected, and manually pressing the eject button also did nothing.
I have heard that some OS9 applications do not run in Classic very well, especially those expected to interact with the hardware (like the disc drive). And this problem is posted to the support page here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22250 . But the only solution listed is starting up in OS9, which I can't do on my iBook.
Is there ANY way to get this to work? The game is old, mostly before copywrite protection, and I have had success getting the data from other old games' CDs onto my computer, but they still look for the information in the disc drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hello Dr. Ace,
I would start by checking the Extensions Manager to see if you have the proper CD/media extensions enabled. Also, if you could access the CD from the Mac OS X desktop and drag it to the trash to eject it by using Exposé or using control-click/eject or Right Click/eject to get it ejected.
There may be some preferences you need to apply for this game or special set up settings that need to be altered.
    good luck!
    -Mike

  • Powerbook dead? Sleeping? Playing games with me? Please help!

Please advise me about what to do with my 15" aluminum G4 1.25 GHz Powerbook. Often it won't start at all, and if it does, soon it freezes solid (screen still up, but no response to the trackpad or the keyboard) and I have to force it to quit or remove the battery. Meanwhile the bottom of the case quickly feels very, very hot, even if the screen is (sometimes) blank. Yesterday I got it to run long enough to run the hardware test, which passed the logic board and other components -- before the computer froze up again. A Mac-certified tech looked at it and said he thought it needed a new logic board; but would it have passed the hardware test if that were the case? I've tried resetting PRAM, removing RAM, the airport card, etc., and I just can't see any consistent result, except that whatever I do, the laptop will soon freeze up. I've read about the famous "narcolepsy" issue, but if the laptop is going into emergency sleep mode, would the screen still be working (if frozen)? I really am just about ready to call it quits and sell this for parts. I'd be grateful for advice. Thanks.

BGregg and Old imac, thanks for your comments. I tried to reply once to this but my post got lost in the ether, I guess. I believe my hard disk is okay and since I wiped it and reinstalled Leopard, that can't be the problem, I think (not much on it now except the OS, I mean).
But good news!!! I did the following things and the laptop has now been running non stop for 4 hours! Hooray! (1) removed ram from upper bank and only have ram now in lower bank (1 gig); (2) have not touched the track pad at all -- am using an external mouse. Have touched the space bar a few times to wake it up from sleep; (3) installed and am running Temperature Monitor. Now this is neat: when I first installed it, it showed temperatures around the CPU mounting up to 140 - 145 degrees F !!! Since then, however, it has been running much, MUCH cooler, around 100 F. Could the Temperature Monitor program be responsible for this cooler-running machine? Anyway, I don't know which of these three things I changed is responsible for the machine continuing to run properly for such a long time (compared to its recent history). Which should I try changing first? RAM or using the track pad? I guess it doesn't make much difference. Suggestions?
