Howdy!
I recently purchased a Creative X-FI Xtreme Music (7 days ago)......haven't been able to get it working at ALL....really annoying after you spend $200 bucks on something...anyway - system specs are
Gigabyte GA-K8NS-939 - anyone else have this and know if it works?

The weird thing is, is that intially - windows recognises that there is a device in the computer that is new. It also says its a "multimedia audio controller". Obviously i cancel the windows installation and try the Creative one, but setup cannot 'detect an SB product' and it wont install. I've tried everything (i think)..... New mobo bios, disabling onboard sound, uninstalling all audio drivers, disabling the game port, trying several different pci slots (which when i do, sometimes the computer doesn't even post......it's like there's a power issue or something....) tried cleansweep of creative drivers and folders, changing IRQ addresses..etc
The only thing i haven't done that someone suggested was change the AGP aperture (i think thats what they said to do) from 66 to 28. Does anyone know if this works? I just want to know if its the card issue or something wrong I've been doing....Oh, and i also tried some modded drivers and the like, for OEM cards, which also didn't work. Creative hasn't really been very helpful with answering my questions, instead telling me all these things I already knew, and also asking me to send it back to the store i bought it from. I shouldn't have to do this of course, considering I expected to get a working card...
Can anyone help at all with my questions? I've heard rumours that some cards need external power - is this true? Thanks so much for any of your time. Unlilke you guys, I haven't had the pleasure of X-FI music yet, so please help me get there!!!

I belei've a number of people have trouble with the install disk recognising the cards. I have 2 Dell PCs with Extreme X-FI cards and I tried adding I/O Consoles. However, the new install disk does not recognise the card. I have found out that certain OEM cards may be (?) different than those supplied directly by Creative and that their "Card Id's" are not included in the lookup table used by the latest Install CDs. For people with HP PC's there is a work around but this, as yet, doesn't work for others. If I completely uninstall my old Creative Software and re-boot, the card is recognised by Windows but the Install disk continues to report that no suitable products are fitted.
However, you say you purchased the card directly from Creative? If that's so, and its not one supplied pre-installed in a PC, then I don't know what the problem could be. I will keep an eye on any similar problems to see if there is a quick solution or, like me, you have to continually wait for a response from Tech Support.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of doing so include clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.

I have a an iMac 27" and am trying to import some videos of a friends wedding into iMovie however one of the movies won't import. It doesn't say why or give any error message or codes. All of the other movies on the card download with out a problem.

The movie in question is not 'corrupt' as you can watch it in iMovie direct from the SD card but as soon as you try to import it, it just says 'error'. iIve tried moving the file to an external drive ( and other variations on this theme) then importing but have had no luck.
Can anyone please help me.

Thanks for the pointers. The file type is .mts (a proprietry sony one).
I have now found some video converter software (Wondershare and iSkysoft) at a cost. Either will convert this file for me into .mp4. This I can then import into iMovie without any problems. I've checked this on the trial versions and it worked well but without paying am left with a giant watermark in the video
The mystery (which I still havent solved) is why did 20 other .mts files import fine and then this one not?
If you could point me in the direction of some free .mts converter software that would be the cherry on the cake.

My iTunes gift card's redemption code is unreadable. I tried to submit this issue through the online support but the website wouldn't allow me to attach pictures of the card. What can I do now?

I have an iTunes gift card from a parent of my student. When I tried to scratch off the back for the redemption code, the code became unreadable. I tried to submit this problem on Apple's support website and the site asked for pictures of the card (front & back). I took pictures with my iPhone and when I tried to submit it, the website said it wasn't in the right format (my pictures were saved as JPEG files). I tried all of the file extensions acceptable by the website and none worked. I called customer support (real human) and she said that she could not nothing for me since the card was not purchased from iTunes store directly and it may have been from a retailer. So there was nothing Apple could do. I find that surprising since this card has Apple's brand on it and it was a legitimate iTunes card. I can even provide the serial number but the Apple customer support didn't want to hear it. She told me to submit the question as a product feedback via their website so I did and again, I got nothing in return.
I'd like to know if anyone can help me with this issue or if I will need to throw away this $25 gift card that would otherwise be very helpful for the students in my classroom?

When you tried to contact Support with the card's images how were you trying to do it, on your phone or a browser on your computer ? And have you tried a different browser to see if you get the same error message ?
As well as images of the card they might also want an image of its receipt.

If the amount of the purchase is close to $21.07, then you need to take into account taxes may be added.
If you go beyond the credit from a gift card the balance will be billed to your credit card account.

How can I format an SD card on my mac? I have tried the erase thing but when I put the card into my 35mm camera it says that the card has to be formatted.

I just purchased two new SanDisk 8gb SD cards for my trail cameras. When I put the cards into the trail cameras, the cameras will take pictures but it won't store them on the cards. When I put the cards into my 35mm camera the camera tells me that the cards need to be formatted. I have went through the steps in the disk utilities and erased the cards, which I assume is the same as formatting them?? I have tried this for hours and have had no luck getting these things to work at all. It was awful disgusting when I checked my two trail cameras the first time and found out that they had taken close to 75 pictures but the cards were empty. When I bought my 35mm camera several years ago, I bought a couple of Kodak SD cards and used them right out of the package and never had to do any of this formatting thing. I don't understand what is going on and could sure use some help with this. Thanks for any information anyone can give me with this problem. I would love to have seen what animals set my cameras off 75 times in the last few days. Thanks again.

AFAIK cameras offer their own built-in format utility for inserted SD cards. You should use that. Otherwise, refer to the manual that came with your camera to determine precisely how your SD cards need to be formatted to work properly. Personally, I'd suggest Partition Scheme: MBR, and Filesystem: FAT32.
Try to limit the number of formats you perform on the SD cards, though, as you're reducing their lifespan. I believe formatting causes re-writes to a portion of the SD card that has fewer read/write cycles than the rest of the card as a whole.

We enter various pieces of data, other than the standard name address & phone numbers and we print all information on each card so it fits in a 5x7 inch loose binder. We have used InTouch software for many years and it has served us extremely welll, however, the publisher (The Prairie Group) has not, and apparently has no plans to update their software to be compatible with any Mac OSX OS beyond 10.6. Any help will be appreciated!

You can select what you want included in a list format. In the Print command from Contacts, click the Show Details button. Then in the Style pulldown menu select "Lists" and there you'll be able to select what you want included. You can also select what you wish included if you select the Pocket Address Book style.
If neither of those options will work for you, then you will need to look to third-party software. Here's one possibility that seems to get good reviews:

I haven't done more than try it to make sure that it works with OS X 10.9's Contacts, which it does, but you can download their demo and try it yourself.

Family sharing verification has an old credit card number to verify. I have updated the credit card info but it is still not appearing in the verification process asking for the security code of the card. How lng to have account info updated to cloud

I am trying to set up a family sharing with a new iMac and other Mac pro computer and other apple products. When I click to manage account and the add a member, I am told to verify the user by entering the security code from the credit card. The card listed is an old one and has since been changed. I updated the info on my apple account, but it is not getting to the iCloud for the family sharing. The number shown is the old card. When I enter a code it says invalid. How long does it take for the info to udate to all systems?

Happy Holidays! The resource below explains how to edit the credit card information for the Apple ID account that you want to use for Family Sharing. Once you've made the changes, I would suggest you sign out of your iTunes Store on all of your devices, and then restart them. The changes should take place quickly. There is a link to the iTunes Store support below if you need more help.

How can I stop iTunes scanning the card reader on my computer?

OK - its not really my computer thats the issue - its my Granddads.
Basically, his computer has an internal card reader. When you try to launch iTunes, it fails to open for 30+ mins.
The cause appears to be the same issue that causes problems if a blank CD or DVD is in the drive - however, it is the card reader that is preventing iTunes from opening correctly. iTunes tries to scan the empty devices - which eventually causes Windows to mark the devices as having a problem and prevents them from working until after a reboot.
I have confirmed that this is the cause by unplugging the reader internally - however this is not a solution as he needs the USB ports and the card reader slots for his daily use.
I need to prevent iTunes from scanning these devices.
Anyone got any ideas? This is urgent.
System is Win 7 x64 Ultimate.
