Is it time to change my Macbook Pro battery?

I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro for a little more than 25 months and the batteyr has 1022 cycle count as of now. I saw on a Apple page where it said the max cycle on this model is a 1000 and I am not sure wha that means. Since I am over that "max" cycle, does this mean its time I change the battery? Also via istat, it shows my battery health is at 82%. Is that healthy? The battey has been draining faster than usual lately for the same things I do all the time. I figured this was because of that high cycle count.
Anyways I was just wondering is it really necessary for me to change the battery right away or will I be able to ride it out for a while with frequent charges? Are there any sudden damage this could do to the Mac if I keep the battery and let the cycles run?

1022 cycles is a lot but there is no specified maximum:
"The built-in battery of your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air is designed to deliver up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles before it reaches 80 percent of its original capacity."
Yours is operating within its specifications.
Are there any sudden damage this could do to the Mac if I keep the battery and let the cycles run?
No, but when the battery status indicates "replace now" do not wait. On rare occasions, a battery that has reached its EOL will swell, resulting in mechanical damage and expensive repairs. Replace it with a genuine Apple battery.

How can i change my macbook pro keyboard buttom english to arabic

Apple does make and sell MacBook Pros with Arabic keyboards but, as far as I know, they're only sold in the Arabic market. You may be able to special order one: I don't know. You may even be able to order the keyboard only online or at your local Apple Store and have your English keyboard replaced. Again, I don't know.
The best thing to do, if you're in the US, is to call Apple at 1-800-MYAPPLE. Tell them what you need and see how they might go about fulfilling your needs.
    Good luck,

I have a very old (by computer standards) MacBook Pro, and a newer one.  I've been using the old one mostly for iTunes, into which I have only CD entries.  For a long time, years, the old MacBook pro ceased entering the song titles.  This is very time consuming for me, so I finally investigated a bit further.
I discovered how to enter the track titles onto my newer MacBook Pro, and was so pleased!  But when I tried to do the same with the other laptop, it failed.
What I did, basically, was what the Apple Help suggested--choose iTunes General Preferences, etc.etc.  And yes, I did upgrade the old laptop to the newest iTunes version.
Am I just wasting my time here? Is there some reason why an older Mac Pro will not do what the newer one will, with regard to iTunes?
My older laptop is a 2.6 GHz Core Duo; it has 36 GB of "memory available."  The newer one  a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. It has 284 GB of memory available.
Both are using the same version of Snow Leopard--10.6.8.

I installed bootcamp but became a pain to use so I unistalled it. Now every time I turn my Macbook pro on it keeps asking me what startup disk to use. I tried using the system preferences to correct this but it hasn't worked. I even restored my mac back to factory settings but it still asks me what startup disk to use. I have looked everywhere for a solution but one anywhere

Delete the System Preference .plist file (preference file) and when rebooting and #2 Reset the PRAM
Deleting the System Preference or other .plist file
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
Then head to System Preferences > Startup Disk and select the OS X volume to boot from.

  • I recently changed my MacBook Pro password, and now I don't remember it.  Is there anyway to gain access to my mac without reinstalling or deleting everything that's on it?  I don't have the disk that came with it either.

Hi.  I recently changed my MacBook Pro password, and now I don't recall what it is.  My hope is that I can somehow gain access without deleting everything currently on it.  I do not have the MAC disk that it came with.  Is there something I can do myself?  Should I take it to the MAC store?  Thanks in advance for your help.

It helps with this kind of question to state which system version you are using on the computer as the answer will vary.
Mac OS X: Changing or resetting an account password - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274 - resetting password on regular and administrator accounts if you have the installer disc (OSX 10.1-10.6.8) or AppleID (OSX 10.7-10.8) [Of course Apple has changed this document since I asaved the link so it is no longer useful for newer system versions. ]

Which external hard drive should I use/choose as I am setting up Time Machine on my MacBook Pro 15 for the very first time?

Any of these SATA HDDs that are at least the same size as your internal HDD (preferably larger capacity).  In addition you will need an enclosure, preferably one with a Firewire as well as a USB connection.

I've recently received an error message from Time Machine that my Macbook Pro's sparsebundle is in use.  What is this and what can I do about it?

This is asked at least 5-6 times a day here.
Look at the right hand column.. more like this.
It is a bug in Mountain Lion.
    Read C12 http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
But the fast solution.. unplug the TC.. count to 10.. plug it back in.

You don't get all files you need from Time Machine. Do a reinstallation and updates from you iWork disc or if you bought from AppStore install from AppStore but then you have to uninstall first.

  • 2 user folders after time machine backup. Macbook Pro 13", Mac OS X 10.6.8

After a time machine backup my macbook pro runs fine, however the backup has created a 2nd user file. my new user file is now named like my old one, just with " 1" added. I have 2 user folders, can I delete the old one?
After a random check of the content in both user folders I found out that it's not identical. Some files that weren't backed up with the time machine before the re-setup are in the original folder, while the new uder folder obviously only backup what it could find on the time machine disc. (Time machine backed up my whole hdd about 2 days before the crash & re-setup)
Due to this situation my local HDD is almost full now. The original user folder has 205 GB, the new one user 1 has 210 GB, plus applications with a 500GB HDD, I now have only 44GB left.
Can I delete the old user folder?
Can I then re-name the new one (user 1) back to "user"?
    Thanks
    J.

I've never heard of a 'problem' as you're having - and I searched Pondoni's Time Machine Troubleshooting FAQs and couldn't fine anythig similar.
I would be wary of deleting anything manually from your TM backup - the sparsebundles are rather sensitive. If you like, however, you could always erase your TM backups and start anew... that's the only way I would know to 'fix' the problem.
    Good luck,

  • HT1176 Initial Time Capsule backup on MacBook Pro that doesn't have an Ethernet port

I just got a 3TB time capsule and am trying to backup my MacBook Pro. The initial process is very slow, but my MacBook doesn't have an Ethernet port. How can I connect the time capsule to the MacBook Pro to make the initial backup go more quickly?

A very good investment to make would be......

  • HT3275 Time Machine could not complete the backup.  The backup disk image "/Volumes/ELBs Time Ca/ELB's MacBook Pro.sparsebundle" is already in use.

For the past couple weeks, my Time Machine has not been backing up file from my MacBook Pro.  I've had the Time Capsule for a couple years now.  Entering the Time Machine I discovered that there are no files before "yesterday" yet there are only 161.0 GB of 998.06 GB available.  A "Failed" message apprears with a popup message: "The backup disk image “/Volumes/ELBs Time Ca/ELB’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use."  How can it be in use when Time Machine takes hours looking for the device?
Another error code message also pops up from time to time: Finder error code -6584.  What is that?  And how is it fixed?
All software is up to date on this computer and Time Capsule.

Further to my earlier response (system re-start and firmware update resulted in full Time Machine backup) I waited until the next scheduled backup to determine success.
As it has turned out, the Time Machine's next backup was for 48 kb  and ran for eight hours!  The progress bar was complete (solid blue) and I therefore stopped the backup.  It has been "stopping backup" for the past hour.
What is wrong with this process?
