Is It True That Apple Will Not Fix This Flickering Issue?

Very disappointing to read so many postings that Apple techs are saying this problem will not be fixed, thus ruining what had been a great experience for so many. If this is true, this issue warrants public notification.

The AppleTV update was not mandatory. It is not applied automatically, and will continue to function without an update. Others have reported successfully exchanging updated AppleTVs for models with earlier versions of the OS when there was a problem with the update.
Anybody whose equipment does not match Apple's specifications (e.g. those with TVs that do not have built-in HDMI ports, or that cannot accept a 720p signal) should be very wary of installing any updates. As these are not supported displays, Apple is unlikely to test updates on them, and it is possible that an update will cause loss of function. It would be wise to wait to hear from others with similar TVs before you decide whether to apply an update. This also means that if you own an unsupported TV, it is possible that you will not be able to get access to future updates that include features that you would like to have.
Frankly, if you have an unsupported TV and are dead-set against replacing it, you probably should consider returning or selling your AppleTV and buy a product, such as the Roku box, that supports your type of TV.

  • Is it true that Apple will not replace an LCD under warranty?

I have an iPhone 4s, that I bought around a month ago. It is under warranty. I have been having issues with the phone since the day I received it in the mail. One being that I get dial tones and/or other static-y noises at the beginning of all outgoing and incoming calls, usually for about 2-3 seconds. The phone also randomly dies, even if it has 15, 20 sometimes even 30 percent battery left. The biggest issue I've ran into is the front screen of the phone popping off. Not completely, but enough to notice. The way I can tell when it happens is because the home button will feel weird, like majorly indented and then light can be seen coming out through the side of the phone. The problem is that each time this happens the screen would get little crack-looking disturbances or just discolored all over, and then tonight it popped out AGAIN while I was talking to my mom and then screen went black and the phone just started making a weird bonging sound over and over. For lack of a better term, I'm ******.
The phone itself is perfect. No scratches, no dents, nothing. It's always been in a case.
My husband is adamant that I'm wasting my time because Apple will not replace an LCD screen, but obviously the phone has had issues since I received it and it's not anything that I did! I spoke to a very nice representative who made an appointment at the Apple Store to have it checked out. Has anyone had any luck with getting something like this taken care of under warranty? Thanks!

  • 10.5.2 | I REALLY cannot believe that Apple did NOT fix this Issue !

I've been reporting about this BUG - numerous of times - Here and to the Apple Feedback. I've even called Apple Support - who WAS able to reproduce the BUG.
Its the Finder "Drag to new location in Column View" Major BUG
    Look Here
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEbl0egiujI
Cant nobody confirm this BUG as well....
I can really lead to accidental file loss.

I also tried to move a file from the documents folder to the download folder and then hit the back key to see what happened. The back key brings me back to the previous screen display that may show the file in its original location, but it is actually moved to the new location. This is confirmed by clicking on the original folder and the moved to folder. The file is definitely in the moved to location and out of the moved from folder. I have repeated this numerous times and it always works.

Is it true that apple will fix your products once for free ?
    No.
my iphone  just turned off last night and wont turn back on...
    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.  If still under warranty, take it in to Apple for a potnetial warranty replacement.  If not, you may be able to get an out-of-warranty replacement for $149.

  • Apple will not fix my Iphone?

I had called earlier today to get my first generation IPhone repaired because of water damage. The representative I had talked to said that they would not fix it because it is out of warranty. I thought that the warranty only covered problems to the IPhone that were Apples fault not my own. On the Apple site it says it is $199 to get the Iphone repaired for "Out of Warranty & Accidental Damage Repair". So I am confused on why my Iphone could not be fixed. Can someone help explain this to me please.

You are entitled to an exchange for an additional fee.
"10. What happens if I return my iPhone for warranty service and it is determined that it is not eligible for warranty service?
If you requested in-warranty Advance Replacement Service and the reason for the original iPhone failing is not covered under warranty, you will be responsible for the equipment replacement value charge of $399 for the 8GB model and $499 for the 16GB model.
    11. What happens if I return my iPhone for out of warranty service and it is determined that it is not repairable?
Only iPhones that are repairable are eligible for Out of Warranty Advance Replacement Service. iPhones that have been subject to liquid damage, catastrophic damage, or damage as a result of the unit being opened are not repairable. If you requested Out of Warranty Advance Replacement Service and the the original iPhone is not repairable, you will be charged for the Advance Replacement Service Out of Warranty Cover Charge (ARS OOW Cover Charge), which is the difference between equipment replacement value and the Advance Replacement Out of Warranty Fee."

Please print the link above and take it to an Apple store. If they give you any problems, please speak to a Manager and insist that you need to walk home with a phone. Let them know you're serious and settle for a display model iPhone 3G (or 2G).

I have an Iphone 4 iOS 6.1.3 and have read that it is capable of receiving the Weather Emergency Alert system. I have also been told that it will not. There is no option in Settings / Notifications. This is confusing. Can someone at Apple clarify? If it does not work on this phone is a download available?

Apple usually doesn't participate here, we're just users.  Have you done a search for an app for Weather Emergency Alert in the app store?  It certainly doesn't come built-in in the iphone.

  • Why is it that Apple will not aloow a carrier service other that At&t?

There are US Soldiers over seas who would love to get there hands on apple products but once again no love for us. First we can get things mailed to us now you will not allow us to get you iPhone. Windows suck and we would live Apple Products. So what do we do???? There are other carriers who would get more users that AT&T, T-Moblie is worldwide. Millions of people as with AT&T?????

I think the stumbling block for Verizon was far more to do with the wish to continue V-cast, their proprietary media-sharing service from which they make a lot of money, while Apple would have wanted to continue dependence on iTunes. That, in itself, would have been an inevitably serious conflict of corporate needs.
But I suspect Verizon is smarting from the loss of customers to AT&T, not just because of the number who jumped ship in the first wave of iPhone customers, but those who will not renew their contracts later. Verizon can't fail to know that as much as the iPhone has it's problems, it IS the device the cellphone industry is going to be measured against for some time, and while many manufacturers and cell providers are going to hurry to catch up, the iPhone will continue to develop from the starting point we see now. The fact they are pushing the Chocolate as doing what the iPhone can do shows they have realized they are in some degree of trouble and need to deflect the attention somewhat.
All in all though, unlike all their Mac, iPod, iTunes/media efforts, the iPhone was never a device Apple could wholly control, since it relies entirely on a cellphone infrastructure to not only deem what it can do and can't do, but how it goes about it. The resulting product is a synergy of the good and bad points from both companies... which isn't an entirely inspiring thought!

  • Is it true that I will not be able to update my browser for my g4 laptop?

I would like to know if apple is not letting users upgrade their safari browsers on older powermac g4 laptops?

Many PowerPC users are moving to Ten Four Fox:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
It uses technology from more recent versions of FireFox that only run on Intel Macs but ports them to run on 10.4 and 10.5 PPCs.
By default, plug-ins are disabled. However, you can use these instreuctions:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1226744
to activate plug-ins and use Flash.
As many web technologies are no long optimized for the PowerPC, even 10-4-Fox can't restore neck-snapping speed, but the compatibility with modern sites is quite good.

  • I am trying to use sites on the internet which require Adobe Flash Player, but when I click on the free download, it says that Apple does not support this application, so I cannot use it.  This stops me viewing quite a few interesting things.  Any ideas?

I am trying to use sites on the internet which require Adobe Flash Player, and when I click for a free download it says that "it is not available for your device because of restrictions that Apple has put in place".  Any suggestions on how to overcome this?

Flash is not, and probably never will be, supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus it would be up to Adobe to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, something which they have never managed to do and which they have now given up on trying to do.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so your could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app).

  • What is a good free substitute for Adobe Flash Player? Apple will not download this but I need it for several things I want to do?

What is a good "free" substitute for Adobe Flash Player? I need this for photos to be developed.

    link5645 wrote:
You cannot substitute another app for Flash because it is proprietary technology. Apple is adamant about keeping Flash out of their phones and tablets, hence why you will not find it in the App Store. If you want to be able to use Flash on-the-go, consider purchasing an Android device.
Doesn't matter at this point.  Android 4.0.3 is the last OS he'll have if he wants flash.  Adobe has already stopped development for their mobile flash player.

  • WHAT APPLE DOES TO FIX THIS PRINTING ISSUES

    Really that is my question?!
we are cracking our head here to find solutions for our printing problems. What Apple does for this.
I assume that most of us are making a living doing graphic and printing is vital.
We have to return to TIGER?!
    Or what.
I did not see any updates from Apple to try to solve the problems.

    Network printing issues.
    No landscape printing.
4 printers 2 Brothers, 1 HP, one samsung
I put all my issues in previous messages, but no solutions have been found.
And iI can see the problems are growing more and more.
    old posting
Hi I have read many messages about issues with network printing.
    Here is a new one.
On any printer and I have tried 4, 2 Brothers, one Hp and one Samsung, all laser printers. I have found in Leopard the right drivers (HL1435, etc.) and the printing is working fine. Except when I am trying to print landscape. I have tried everything but on network will not print Landscape.
If I connect the printers USB everything is fine.
Anybody any idea or the same problem.
    Thanks.

  • How can I reset my IPAD 2 to resolve the fact that Apple will not let me use the APPLE  ID and passwords that I want to use becasue they may have been used in the past year. I am very close to donating this contraption to the Good Will.

I have been an Apple User for almost two decades and have had no problems with my G4 Powerbook, my Intel MacMini, nor several other Macs as well as Windows 7 machines. However, the IPAD2 poses a problem of unfathomable disgust with the concept and implementation of the Apple ID. There is one for the computer, there is one for support, and there is one for itunes, and possibly another one for apps. There are different passwords for each. I am continually faced with notification that my Apple ID is incorrect or the password is incorrect. I have to keep an Excel spreadsheet with all of this unnecessary NANNY State protection matched only in pervasiveness by the Federal government.
I am told that an Apple ID can never be destroyed and replaced. Who dreamed that one up? I am told I cannot use a password that has been used in the past year. Why? By whose authority? I am not a walking encyclopedia that remembers every telephone number he ever dialed. Thankfully my cheap LG clamshell telephone keeps numbers and talks to Ford Sync successfully.
Bottom line is that the IPAD has become almost totally useless since I cannot change the several necessary passwords to anything I can remember because they are not novel enough. I also never seem to be able to keep the Apple IDs straight as they are too numerous to remember and I don't want to remember them anyway. Why? Even if you enventually get the ID right you have the wrong password and have to go through a merry-go-round of emails to change the password to something you have already used in the past year which is not permitted.
Has anyone out there used a competitive device with less cumberson overhead? Surely this is not the best American technology can produce.
    Thanks for your comments.

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.
    Thanks for your comments.
