Is it useful to enrol in Cisco courses if your aim are mac networks?

Pardon my lack of information... I am currently taking an advanced CCNA networks course (4 levels), we learnt a lot about protocols, routers and switches and all of them work within Cisco's rule's and regulations. Question is; does Apple work with Cisco's protocols, devices and systems and vice versa? if so, what would the next Cisco course you'd advice me to enrol in that'd be relevant to Macs and Xserves? what Cisco courses must I avoid incase they were focused on Windows systems but not macs?

AFAIK and in my experience most of Cisco's products are configured using the command line which (for me) makes them platform independent. Ultimately a network device (macs, PCs, printers etc) simply nodes connected to a network regardless of what hardware the infrastructure consists of.
Besides Apple's OS includes Cisco's IPSec VPN Client as a built-in option.
To answer this question:

I would say none at all.

Turns out that unity came back after all this. Maybe it just needed time. I think I answered my own question. Anyways, this post could serve for future reference.

One more unrelated question perhaps you or someone else could answer. I ahve a current problem where Apple TV keeps asking for my Apple ID and Password. It accepts the ID, but will not accept the Password even though i-Tunes, my i-Phones, and an i-Pad do. Very frustrating!!!

Using the Airport Base as a WDS on a non-mac network

I have a cable modem (Optimum Online) and a wireless router (Netgear WGR814) connected to my PC desktop. And I use a Powerbook 12" G4 to connect wirelessly to the network.

No, the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) or the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) do not allow for extending a wireless network using WDS with non-Apple routers. There have been only a few examples where this has been accompished with Linksys routers.

As I noted in the other thread:
There are two kinds of content available, "courses" and "collections". If you look at the iTunes U section on the iTunes Store, you'll note some are square (collection) and some have a faux wire binder and tabs (course); you can subscribe and watch collections from within iTunes, but courses only work on iOS.
The content you see in iTunes on your PC are "collections", while your teacher has created a "course". Collections are more like podcasts, with only audio or video episodes available. Courses have more structure and richer content, including assignments and iOS-specific materials like App Store links and Pages documents.
While the distinction is not particularly relevant for iOS users – one can subscribe to either type – it is admittedly confusing for desktop users since the distinction and terminology are not explicitly defined.
Does that clarify matters somewhat?

Attempting to use certreq -enroll to enroll to a client authentication certificate works with Windows 8, but not with Windows 7...

This has been an issue for a while now. Trying to use certreq -enroll -machine [Template Name] on Windows 7 machines fails with not implemented. When I run this command with the -q flag I see that the certificate I want is unavailable and displays:
A valid certification authority (CA) configured to issue certificates based on this template cannot be located, or the CA does not support this operation, or the CA is not trusted.
When I go into the properties of this certificate and goto the Certification Authority tab and check the "Show all enrollment servers" it shows my server greyed out with this message:
The system could not determine if you can access this certificate. Not implemented.
The template sits on a enterprise 2003 server CA and this process works with Windows 8.1 machines. Which means that the template has the correct permissions and is issued correctly.
Is this a known issue with Windows 7 or am I missing something in the config? Help is greatly appreciated.

I have done some tests on a Windows 7 Enterprise machine and a Windows 8.1 Enterprise machine, it turns out that I have the same issue with you.
On the Windows 7 machines, I cannot use Certreq.exe to request machine certificates, but I can successfully request user certificates, and there is no issue with the Windows 8.1 machine.

I am somewhat hesitant to say you will be able to use this camera with LabVIEW. It all depends on what functionality you are wanting to utilise on the camera, and how much video you want to analyze.
- If you want to use the wireless functionality, I am concered that the on board web server will compress and embed the video stream. I do not beleive this is something we can access in LabVIEW.
- If you wish to use the ethernet connection, if it is Gigabit Ethernet, then you should be able to use our IMAQ for GigE driver to bring in the feed, but looking at the specs for the camera, I'm not sure that this is an option.
- My other suggestion might be to utilise the record video stream function that the camera has. Depending on the format of the video file, you may be able to read in the recorded file and analyse it in LabVIEW.
If you could explain the purpose of your application, and what you would like to achieve with the system, there may be more suitable products that you can use.

Unable to enroll employee onto course

Hello Experts,
We are in process of implementing LSO and we have set up a new environment for UAT testing. Unfortunately, we are facing very weird problem of not able to enroll employee onto Course. We are able to pre-book employee onto Course type but unable to move into booked status. Even if we want to book employee directly onto course (without pre-booking), it is not letting us to do so. It does not give any error, no authorisation checks failed, nothing.....
I have checked all the setting and they are perfectly in order.

The error is due to not maintaining any number ranges for participation document no
T code LSO_TP_C maintain the number ranges you shall be able to book the course
for DM 0001, the relation shipt to be generated is 025 D-E-P , if you maintain the number ranges it will work.

Country field in the subject name using mmc enrollment

I'm running windows 2008 ADCS and i have the following issue:
i can't get the C=country in the certificate [some other fields (o, ou) do not appear also]
The setup is the following:
* certificate template is configured to use active directory FQDN for subject name
* the user has the country (and OU, and O) defined in AD user proprieties
* i don't want to use web enrollment but MMC
What i need to happen: when enrolling via MMC, with simple request certificate on behalf of, not only cn=userX,cn=Users,dc=XYZ,dc=local must appear in the certificate but also C=, O=, OU=
any ideas how this is can be done?

AFAIK this cannot be done using the default Windows policy module which only supports either the name from AD DN components or an entirely custom DN (if the template is configured to submit the name in the request) - but not a combination of name elements.
It's also not possible to include other AD attributes that are not part of the DN (such as O).
However, OU should appear if it is in the DN - but from your sample it seems the user is in the default Users container and not in an OU?
A custom policy module could do that and combine DN components from different sources - e.g. the policy module included with Forefront Indentity Manager.

this article an example is given of how to configure such a custom name in the FIM policy module, by combining data from AD (as your O and OU not in the DN), fixed strings, and additional input to the FIM portal:

of the Device Enrollment Manager is locked in as the user in the email profile. Is that normal behavior? I thought that enrolling a device using a user who is a member of the Device Enrollment Management group would leave the device open for another

Hello, I was looking through TechNet a little more about this and unless I'm reading this wrong, which is certainly possible, it seems to suggest that you should be able to access company data as the end user using CYOD enrollment or a device enrollment
manager enrollment scenario:
User affiliation – Specifies how devices are enrolled.
Prompt for user affinity – The device can be affiliated with a user during initial setup and could then be permitted to access company data and email as that user. This mode supports a number of scenarios:
Corporate-owned personal device – “Choose Your Own Device” (CYOD) Similar to privately owned or personal devices but the administrator has certain privileges including permission to wipe, reset, administer, and unenroll the device. The
device’s user can install apps and has most other permissions for device use where not blocked by management policy.
Device enrollment manager account – The device is enrolled using a special Intune administrator account. It can be managed as a private account, but only a user who knows the enrollment manager credentials can install apps, wipe, reset,
administer, and unenroll the device. For information about enrolling a device shared by many users through a common account, see
Enroll corporate-owned devices with the Device Enrollment Manager in Microsoft Intune.
No user affinity – The device is user-less. Use this affiliation for devices that perform tasks without accessing local user data. Apps requiring user affiliation are disabled or won’t work.
With this in mind, since accessing corporate data as the user is supported with CYOD and device enrollment manager, I can't imagine that the intention of the device enrollment managers (DEM) group was designed so when a device is enrolled with a DEM
user that only data for that DEM user is available, right? That just wouldn't make sense. Also, if enrolling a device using a DEM user account is only for devices that don't need access to corporate data, then what's the difference between enrolling
a device using a DEM user, or enrolling a device with "No user affinity"? Also, when I've enrolled a device using a DEM account, I was later easily able to install apps with no prompt for DEM credentials, TechNet seems to imply that credentials
are needed for functions like that. Shouldn't something have asked me for permission to install an app?

Did you follow, exactly, the instructions on the HT2534 page that you posted from when you created the account ? When I tried the instructions earlier today I was able to create a new account with 'none' as its payment method. If you don't use those instructions when creating an account then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.
If you are being prompted to review the account then you could see if this post by mountaingoatgirl lets you do so via your computer's iTunes without needing to enter credit card details : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24303054
If it doesn't then you will either need to enter credit card details (you should be able to remove them after entering them) or you will need to create a new account, and this time use the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it. If you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com
