Is it worth buying a 70 dollar keyboard?

Is it worth buying the 70$ keyboard?

I'm perfectly happy using the iPad on my lap to respond to short emails or forum questions but when I am writing more than a couple sentences I really prefer a real keyboard. It isn't so much that I don't like the virtual keyboard itself as I dislike the fact that we don't have the full keyset. So I do have a keyboard and find it useful and lighter to carry around than a full notebook. Now if I can convince the wife that I need a MacBook Air maybe I'd change my mind....

  • Worth buying the Xperia Z3 Compact ? And a question about headphones.

Worth buying the Xperia Z3 Compact, compared to Xperia Z3?
And a doubt. I have had other Xperias, and headphones from other brands did not work well with him, this ''Z3 line'' is yet? It only works with Sony headphones?
    Thank You!

Well, the headphone jack is designed to be compatible with Noise Cancelling headphones from Sony, that uses 5 pins in the pole, however, a regular 3 segments headphones should work without issues... the problem is if you try to use incompatible Headsets (the ones with microphones) since the use an additional segment and it my be located in a different way than what Sony uses.
My advice is, if you are not the most hardcore audiophile, that you get a medium range Bluetooth Headphones. Those will be compatible with your phone...
I have had Altec Lansing BackBeat 906, 903... Plantronics BackBeat 903+, and currently use the BackBeat Go2.
Out of those the Go2 are the best sounding headphones for me (I do not care for tons of bass, so the amount of bass with those is very good)... but the battery is bad, around 3.5 hours. The fit is good, people complain when trying to use as advertised, but I actually found a better way to place them, making a loop around and front of my ears......  Price ~70$
All previous ones had a battery of 7 hours, but the rubber material of the piece around your ear hardens with time and breaks (after a couple of years of use)... the Go2 seems to be better built.
Finally I would recommend to you the Jaybirds Bluebuds X if you are willing to pay 140~160 $.... with excellent battery life, and sound quality.
If you want to go cheaper... Sony's SBH line has plenty of option with good reviews... SBH20 being the cheapest
And if you want to go crazy expensive, Parrot Zik are over 400$ but apparently they are the best all around. I tried them once.

  • Is this converter even worth buying?

    Hi,
If you ask this question 10 times you're likely to get 10 different answers. There are some popular converters, but often their popularity is down to the fact that they may be free! What is important is that the 3rd party converter is capable of coping with "mux'd" files, these are files where the video and audio tracks are as one. Frequently ppl post problems with asking why there's no audio on their converted video...this is mainly due to the fact the the converter is unable to deal with mux'd files.
Speaking from experience I use the Xilisoft product, they are similarly priced to the sw you have found and although there are many people who dislike the sw, I have found it utterly trouble free and so easy to use. If you decide to opt for the software you linked let us know how you get on...

  • Is it worth buying the 8GB Macbook Pro 13" or the 16GB

I was wondering if it would be worth purchasing the Macbook Pro 13" with 8GB or 16GB, I plan on editing videos on iMovie, and using it for schoolwork and browsing the internet (Such as Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, etc)

The 2009 model and later are worth buying. They also feature Multi-Threading, which gives a performance boost.
The 2008 model uses older FBDIMM memories, and its memory has been severely limited in size and expensive (unless you drop down one notch and use 667MHz, which has become quite affordable).
The 2009 model and later change to processor-on-a-shelf, with either a one-chip  or a two-chip shelf installed. Each offers four memory slots per processor. 4 DIMMs @8GB would give you 32GB four under US$400.
Four-core models would do what you are talking about, and you can upgrade to a 6-core processor if you are handy and can deal with thermal paste.

  • Can you buy a slide out keyboard case for the six plus? Like you can for the 6.

can you buy a slide out keyboard case for the 6 plus?

There are 2 separate issues here:
    - The Apple 30 pin to USB cable was redesigned to remove the 2 button squeeze feature pricesley because of your issue with the buttons falling off and consumers being unable to disconnect the cords.  The newly redesigned cable removes these 2 side buttons for a shorter 30 pin connector that will work just fine in Apple devices.  If there is an ergonomic reason for wanting the larger 2 button design you can buy a host of 3rd party Apple 30 pin to USB cables on the market.  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA591G/C/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable?fnode=3a
http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Meter-Charging-Cable-iPhone/dp/B004SBBD8U/ref =sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1370983635&sr=1-5&keywords=30+pin+apple+usb - 3rd party Apple 30 pin USB cable that should replace the functionality you are looking for.
    - The issue of your iPad reporting that it isn't charging is a DIFFERENT issue.  Your USB cable is FINE.  The reason you are getting this message is beacuse the Power Adaptor that the USB cable plugs into isn't providing enough electrical juice.  If you are plugging your USB cable into your PC it might not be getting enough power.  If you are plugging it into your iPhone Power Adaptor (5W) it isn't strong enough to charge your iPad with it on (it will trickle charge if you have your iPad off).  What you need is the Apple 12W charger for iPad.  Your original power adapter that came with you iPad 2 was a 10W charger that Apple no longer sells.  Make sure the USB cable you are using it plugged into either a 10W or 12W power adapter!  http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipad/ipad_accessories/power
Tech speak if interested: the 12W charger uses the USB cable to detect which iPad is connected and gives it 1 AMP for iPhone, 2.1 AMP for iPad 1,2 & Mini and 2.4 AMP for iPad 3&4.

  • How can i buy Apple Wireless arabic Keyboard in Malaysia

i want to buy Mac 5K but i need arabic keyboard which is not available in Malaysia apple store and it is available in USA apple store ...  how can i buy Apple Wireless arabic Keyboard in Malaysia ? or shipping to Malaysia ?

Apple stores do not ship outside their own country, so you cannot get it from Apple.  Nobody in these forums represents any store, so you have to contact computer dealers in Malaysia or elsewhere directly yourself and see if they can make a special order for you.
There is no need to use an Apple wireless keyboard, any other one will also work.

  • C3-01 or 01.5 worth buying?

    Hi,
I'm looking for a simple bar phone to replace my current one.
I saw the C3-01 and was wondering if it's worth buying. Also, there seems to be a 01.5 version aswell but I can't find it anywhere on the Nokia site, does anyone know the difference between these two?
    Thank you in advanced.

Listen man.. i have a c3-01 now for maybe a year and allround i'm satisfied. It does everything i needed and that is:receiving mails with different emails and that is made really good in c3-01.I have 6 mail accounts set and can choose with which one i want to receive! 2nd the Mini-Opera browser works really fine so facebook, twitter is really no problem to check often! The battery is good too.. i just have to charge it once a day! Even "whatsapp" works great with this phone and is very popular nowadays and is a very cheap mobile kind of msn!
3rd:the speaker goes very loud.. and you can play mp3 songs maybe for 6hours NON STOP!!! Radio i don't know.
The disadvantages: sometimes my phone just shuts off and then restarts itself! Really weird! And on wifi it works so bad that i only surf on mobile internet package of my phone provider.. even when i'm at home! I tried everything but it don't work on wifi!
But for this money you get what you need.. if you want to surf easy and mail and stuff and you don't want to buy an iphone or other smartphones..

  • There is a program unfortunately just called "Cookie" (so I can't be successful doing a search here) that is supposed to help protect our private information that resides on our computers.  Has anyone used this and is it worth buying?

Unfortunately this discussion forum has changed and become confusing indeed.  It wanted me to put my entire question in a Subject box which wasn't labeled as such, and I find this strange.  Especially since now it tells me to repeat my question in this box, so here goes.
Has anyone here used a program called 'Cookie' that is supposed to protect our private information from sites which could retrieve it when we surf the Net.  If so, do you consider the program worth buying?

If you are referring to Cookie from SweetP Productions, I have tried it and not found it to work reliably, so I cannot recommend it. I've had the best results with the same company's free Safari Cookies, though it's not perfect (none of the cookie managers are, unfortunately):

  • Is it worth buying the old Mac pro now, for iOS dev and designing?

I want to replace my old Macbook Pro unibody 2008 late model, and buy something instead of that. Currently it has 8gb ram, an SSD drive, but it's getting slower and slower. I want to replace it with something, and if I don't have to I won't spend ~3000€ for a new machine.
Would it make sense for me to buy an old Mac Pro (2008 - 2010 model, with at least 16gb ram, and SSD, and 2x27" monitor) and use that to create my iOS apps and design with Photoshop and Illustrator. I don't need a machine to do crazy stuff like 3D modelling (don't have time for it ) nor gaming.
    Thanks.

  • Is it worth buying the Airport N Upgrade.

    Hi,
Is it worth buying the N upgrade for my Macbook. I have an Intel Core Duo and no problems with my network e.g. no network drop outs etc.
Would the N upgrade boost my network performance or anything else?
    Thanks,
    Andrew.

I have an Airport Extreme (802.11n) and a C2D Black Macbook, and this is my first experience using "802.11n".
Compared to 802.11b/g, there's no difference in internet browsing speeds--it's no faster on my Mac than it is on my XP notebook (802.11g). However, I will tell you that 802.11a (5Ghz) gets a lot less interference and the range is mildly increased for me (avg. 1 more bar than 802.11g). To my knowledge, the original Core Duo Macbooks do support 802.11a
File transfer is a whole other story... I run a 40GB hard drive off of the Airport Extreme and you can see a HUGE difference between my Macbook (running 802.11n) vs. my XP machine (802.11g).
Unless you are doing a lot of file transfer between machines on your network, it will not make any difference.

  • Is Motion 5 worth buying if...

    Hello
Is Motion 5 worth buying if you do all your movie editing in iMovie? I haven't used Final Cut since 2007 and have only heard bad things about the latest version. Also, iMovie seems to meet most of my needs, so haven't felt the need to use anything else.
However, being able to produce motion graphics is appealing to me, so is Motion 5 worth purchasing if you use iMovie?
And, if so, how easy is it to use?
    Thanks!
    Joe.

    Joe,
I'm not sure how you want to use a Motion project in iMovie, but if you wanted to overlay Motion text over iMovie video, no I don't think you can do that. I haven't used the newer iMovie very much, but don't think you can stack video clips like you can in other video editors.
You could, however, export the segment of iMovie where you want to superimpose text, bring that into Motion, create your text effect over the iMovie footage, export and import back into iMovie. Aside from the exporting and importing, the downside would be if you need to change the timing of something, you pretty much need to start over.
Do try the trial of FCPX. Coming from iMovie you'll have a leg up on those who came from FCP7 or earlier. The magnetic time line might be a challenge, but look for Kevin P. McAuliffe's Creative Cow podcasts and and Mark Spencer & Steve Martin's MacBreak Studio podcasts are very helpful. Shortly after FCPX was released they both did some podcasts on getting started and understanding how FCPX works. Also take a look at Izzy Video's offerings. All three also offer Motion tutorials. Izzy has some free training. And there's lots of good help on the FCPX forum. Once you get the basics of FCPX down, you'll be amazed how much more it can do that iMovie, especially as your need get more complicated.
And keep an eye out for Best Buy and Target discounts on iTunes gift cards. I've seen them up to 20% off. Best Buy seems to offer them every month or so. Target less frequently.

  • Which 2012 13" MacBook Pro model is worth buying?

I was wondering which 2012 13 inch MacBook Pro I should buy. I can see that there is a difference between the models in their processors and RAM but I don't really know what good they would do for me as a student and casual gamer. Which model is worth buying for my needs and can you please explain why? I know that there is almost a $300 difference between them, but I have no idea if paying more is really necessary.
    Thanks.

Yes, in the case of memory 8GB will cover everything, at tops the system (OS X Mavericks) uses around 4GB to run smoothly leaving the rest for programs to run. Even memory intensive games or photoshop use around 2GB leaving some free for 'movement' I have been using 8GB when video editing (2 screens) and very rarely slow up and when it does slow down that's due to my slow harddrive. For what you need highly recommend an 8GB (Welcome to the reassurance of macs, good choice). Happy to help

  • [Solved] Worth buying the book? Linux Kernel Internals

    Dear Arch Community,
Yesterday I succesfully installed arch on my old laptop for testing purposes, and it's been great.
But I find that I simply lack a tad of knowledge about the internals (seeing I want to work towards LFS, and I'm comming from xubuntu with i3wm) so I installed Arch.
To go deeper into linux, I figured a book would be another resource, together with the arch wiki.
However, the only book (yes, i'd like a physical book for this one) I'm able to find only handles linux kernel version 2.6. We're at about 3.2/3.3 now.
    source: http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Lin … 0596005652
My question to you is; how much changes are there? Is it worth buying the book, or should I wait a little for the next Linux Kernel Internals book to come out (if there is any planned)
    Thanks for any information,
    Kind regards,

You don't really need to know the internals of the kernel for any of that stuff.  LFS is just following a really long guide consisting mostly of compiling packages.  I did it once a few years back on a virtual machine.  The most you'll need to know about the kernel is how to configure and compile it.  LAMP doesn't really touch the kernel at all.  In fact you can run Apache, MySQL, and PHP on a Windows box and the configuration doesn't change all that much.
For most things all you need to know is the kernel is a big blob of code that makes your hardware work.  I'm not trying to dissuade you from learning however, that's always a positive thing so if kernel internals are what you're interested in then read up but unless you're doing something really low level or help contribute to the kernel I'm not seeing much practical use.  If you do webdev, it may be a better use of your time to learn some more PHP or MySQL instead.
I know i dont have to, but I'd like to know what's happening under the hood when I'm doing my stuff.
The original questions stays :-) Is it worth buying the book if I want to know the internals, since the book only covers 2.6, and we're a tad past version 2.6.
Thanks for your reply in any case tough :-)
