i am absolutely disappointed with this new release. I am a so called "early adopter" and build my complete media around Apple products (3 Mac's, MacBook Air, iPad3. iPhone5 and 4 Apple TV's) But there are many things in iTunes 11 that i miss badly:
1. Cover Flow (most important)
2. Dark Background (Grid)
3. Search behavior
4. Speed and responsiveness is too slow (my library is >40.000 songs)
5. The function to resize album art to my needs
I switched back to 10.7 what was not easy anyway and i am hoping that you will bring these features back. I do not want to go back to windows (i switched completely to Apple 5 Years ago).
iTunes 11 is a dealbreaker to me.

Is there a way to preview transitions from the "transitions"-panel (show an example of them applied) like there was in Final Cut Pro?

You will need to file a feature request for that.
We used to have something similar in Premiere 6.5 and earlier.
Everything changed with Premiere Pro 1.
Missed that feature in the beginning, now I don't anymore.
Most common transitions you know upfront what they are going to look like.

You cannot.
By Design the iPhone can Only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time.

I think your JTable is editable and thats why it fails to work.
The above code will work onlyfor non editable table.
I think the default setting for editable table is like that.
Let some one else gives you the answer for editable one.

I had a colored picture that I wanted to print. My printer is white and black. I wanted to see how the black and white will look like before actually printing it. I used a free online service to convert to black and white before printing. Any other way to do that?

The place to set black and white probably depends to some extent on your printer and possibly the application you are printing from. Here is how it worked for me when printing from Safari:
I had to click the dropdown that says "Safari" here (toward the lower right):
From there, I chose "Print Settings" and could then check the "Greyscale" box as shown here:
Your settings may well vary depending on your printer.

You DID move them to trash? (we can discuss WHY once we cure you)...
Can you open a window in finder and get to applications and then to utilities? Is MAIL in there?
And your "office email account"-- do you mean physical office, like place of work and you want that account in your mac mail on your computer? ~OR~ do you mean, microsoft office,mail account?
The difference is necessary to know...

The BlackBerry 8800 smartphone has 4.2 or 4.5 software as the latest. BlackBerry 5, 6 or 7 device software is not available for that model.

If you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
Try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security

Actually there is more than just the one extension that AVG might install, reinstall AVG Free without the Link Scanner component as mentioned in the above link and always refuse additional baggage offered during an install -- AVG Free does not ask in the free version it just includes it and there are no options once installed in the Free version for components..
Also make sure you don't have the "Ask Toolbar" or other toolbars you did not ask for. see the same link above for Toolbar problems.
It is definitely an extension that causing the behavior you see.

The photos actually are not present twice on the phone when you do what you did. The photos appear once and then in the folder there is simply a cross reference to the photos in the photo stream

What monitor is the best for gauging what the printed document will look like?

I am working on a 300+ page book that contains a lot of photos that I have converted from color to grayscale in photoshop. I am using a laptop computer and I cannot judge the quality of the photos on this laptop monitor. What is the best monitor for gauging what the finished product will look like? It is a hardcover book that will be offset printed. I do not know if this particular printer uses computer-to-plate technology or if it is "old style." Thanks!

If you are talking about judging the tonality of the grayscale images there are 2 color profiles that affect the display of a grayscale image. The monitor's profile-- the profile that is created when the monitor is calibrated and describes your monitor's display. And the gray profile that is assigned to the image, if no gray profile is assigned Photoshop's working gray profile is used. By default it is 20% Dot Gain. The accuracy of your grayscale image display depends on how accurate your monitor profile is and the accuracy of the gray profile. You can choose the default 20% Dot Gain but it might not be the press profile.
