Is iTunes match a beta product?

Bought match to get music in the cloud as well as repair some songs that skip.  My library turned into a disorganized mess, got multiple copies of the same songs, I lost 2/3 of my album art, and no songs were fixed.  I could have just purchased the songs that skipped and it would have cost less than match.  After poking around with match and being unable to acomplish any of my original goals, I longed for my pre-match confiuration.  3 days later I have repaired the damage by turning match off on all computers/ios devices, then completely wiping the ios devices and reloading.  Fortunately, I realized what a disaster match was before I turned it enabled it on my macbook, so that was still ok, however my 2 ipad2's, 2 iphone 4s's, and windows vista machine were not so lucky.  The 3 wasted days fixing this mess were a much bigger loss to me than the 24.99.  Not at all what I have come to expect from an apple product.  Was the match programming contracted out to microsoft?  Have disabled match on all devices, and turned off automatic subscription, now how do I get my money back?  The "report a problem" link brings me to support forum without actually being able to report to anyone that match is the problem.  Thanks for any help.

There is no refund for the service.  However, some people have managed to get Apple to reconsider so I would suggest calling them - there is an iCloud area which will get you to an L1, but expect some work to get them to bypass their policy.
Also, I've heard that, if you do manage to get a refund, you are locked out of the service for a year.  So if it improves later on, you might have to wait until you can use it again.

  • Apple should make iTunes Match management better.

When you play a song on your phone via iTunes Match, the audio file still on the phone, so it can be played offline on the go. The problem is, the cloud button still appearing and theres no way to delete those songs in order to set free space.
I created a smart playlist to view the local songs and it worked... i have more than 100 offline songs, they still appear as not downloaded... so if i click download the song will be duplicated.
How can i delete the songs without restoring the phone and start all over again and again...?

Turn match off, then back on to clear those (Settings app > Music). You are better off downloading tracks rather than simply streaming to prevent that.

    Hi,
icloud storage and iTunes match are separate products.
What do you expect of your iCloud storage option? If it is your aim to have your music available to play on your iOS devices, you will need iTunes match. Icloud storage does not allow you to stream your music.

When launching iTunes match in Austria or is Germany better than we????

Sorry, we're all apple users here too.  None of us that I know of work for apple.  We are just all apple users that try to help each other out.
I would say as soon as Apple possible can they will launch it in your country.  Might have to do with goverment regulations or music licenses in your country.
Apple wants to take as much of your money as you'll give them so I'm sure they are working hard to give you the chance.

  • Can I get a better quality song on iTunes match?

I thought the whole point of itunes match was if you lost a song or had a problem, the one from the itunes library would over write it and you'd get it back.  how do I do this if in fact itunes match is capable?

No, that is not the point of iTunes Match. The "point" of iTunes Match is to mirror your iTunes library "in the cloud" so you can have access to it from almost anywhere on all your devices. A secondary "point" is that the service will allow you upgrade tracks that "match" to AAC @ 256 Kbps DRM-free tracks from the iTunes Store (not all eligible tracks will "match." Some will be "uploaded"). iTunes Match is not a backup service and should not be relied on to be one. It is your responsiblitiy to backup your personal data, including music. • ITunes Match & multiple music libraries

As you can see from my products list below, I have a history of devices -- all with iTunes' libraries connected by the same login of my @mac eddress. As I added a new device, it became my default iTunes library. Syncing & ripping my CDs between the last to the newest device has been spotty, so iTunes, iCloud & iTunes Match make me positively giddy.
Guess I'm still fuzzy on how iTunes Match in particular will work. Do I need to use the device containing the bulk of my ripped music as the library scanned? If that device happens to be an iPod classic 3, do I need to sync it to my iTunes library using one of my newer devices before signing up for iTunes Match? Unfortunately, I'm betting I won't have enough disk space on a single newer device to do this....
What's the most efficient way of prepping for iTunes Match & iCloud? Thanks!
And, thank you, Steve. This world has become much less interesting, but I wish you restful peace.

I see. That makes more sense to me. This link might also help you understand it better: http://www.apple.com/itunes/whats-new/
Basically, what iTunes Match will do is scan your iTunes library and when it finds non-purchased music that is already on the iTunes Store it will be added to your iTunes in the Cloud; any non-purchased muisc that is not in the Store will then be uploaded to your iCloud account. Up to 25,000 tracks, I think. This will allow you to download your purchased and non-purchased music to any iDevice or computer that is logged in with an AppleID.
Keep in mind iTunes Match is not a streaming service. It does physically download the files to your iDevice even though they may start playing automatically (depending on network speeds) the files are still being downloaded to your iDevice.
    Make more sense?

  • ITunes Match - and my departure from Apple

I am a music enthusiats.  I bought my frist CD in 1990, about 2 years before I even owned a CD Player.  My cassette tape collection was in the thousands and I kne it was only a matter of time before I made the switch to the new technology.  Oh ya, and I was only 12 years old at the time.
So jumping forward to 2007 my music collection was in excess of 10,000 CD's.  And here comes the iPhone.  Up to that point I had used non-Apple products to carry my music around not becasue they functioned better, but becasue they offered the huge capacity at much lower prices.  But now I was getting older, thiking more about simplicity and the abiltiy to have everything I needed in one device.  Sure I had to routinely shuffle around what music I was carrying with me, but simplicty and ease of use had become important to me.
Now jump forward even further to 2011 and the introduction of iTunes Match.  What a perfect solution for me.  I could now carry around almost half my library and I no longer had to shell extra money for the highest storage capacity iPhone.  It was a "Match" made in heaven.  In fact I was so happy I made the full switch over the next year or so.  I ditched my Windows PC for a Macbook Pro.  I dumped my barely funtional Logitech Revue for an Apple TV.  I gave away my low end entry level Android Tablet for an iPad.  Over those twelve months my house became an Apple house.  And then, Apple got left in the dust......
Today, direct competitors to Apple are producing smartphones that have specs that far surpass the iPhone.  Those competitors are selling media content and services that rival iTunes in quality, and beat it heavily in pricing.  And that is where I stand at this point.  I am at a crossroads.
But as I stated at the start, I love music.  It is my biggest psychological and emotional driver in life.  So my question is, can we get options for additional capacity with iTunes Match?  I would pay more than $24.99 for increased capacity with iTunes Match even tthough other competitors offer more capacity at that same $24.99 price point.  My subscription expires on the last day of this month.  I have downloaded my collection out of iCloud in anticipation of needing to move it over to another service.  And once I do that I will begin to have to make other considerations.  I switched my cellphone plan to one of these no-contract options that the major carrier I'm on offers, for the purpose of bringing the monthly cost down.  I'm ready for a new phone and can see very good options out there that I can pay for in full (rather than finance), which would save me a tone of money over getting a new iPhone at full price.  But again, it all starts with the music for me.  Financing a new iPhone because I was able to get greater storage capacity with iTunes Match is far more prefable at the moment than going with the competition.
So not to beat a dead horse, but please increase the capacity for iTunes Match, even if it means having to pay more.

    No. Not at this time.

  • ITunes Match has reverted my library

Imagine my surprise when I went to listen to music this afternoon only to find that iTunes Match for some inexplicable reason has deleted all playlists I created within the last 3 weeks from all of my devices, it has also resurrected playlists I deleted 3 weeks ago!!! Everything was fine this morning.
All meta data in my library has also reverted without any explanation. Recently played songs are ones I listened to 3 weeks ago. I'm using OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 and iOS 7.1.2 on my devices, no iOS 8 betas or Yosemite betas so there's no reason for this to happen!!!
To say I'm irate with iTunes Match is an understatement. I'm turning iTunes Match off permanently and advising people I know to avoid it at all costs it's not worth the hassle, one of the worst apple products I've ever had the misfortune of using.

It's too bad that things have not gotten better on iTunes Match.  I cancelled my subscription last year, after running into similar issues.  iTunes eats your music and sometimes doesn't give it back.  I agree, it's one of the worst products they have right now.  If you want a system that works well with keeping your music safe and uploaded, Google Play, is quite good, and even has an iOS app.  Good alternative and also auto-uploads your iTunes music purchases whenever you purchase new music.
    Just an idea.....

  • Itunes match not uploading any songs just stuck on "uploading 1 of 1432" for teh last two days , any help ??

I purchased Itune match it matched about 9432 songs and the remaining 1432 it did not got to step 3 of uploading and its been 3 days just keeps saying uploading 1 of 1432 . i have restarted itunes , tried on different ISPs etc no luck what gives , on top of that on my iphone since i turned on match my play lists dont show up . when i try to synch with match off still my play lists do not show up ?

Don't know what fantasy planet bigAl_25 lives on.  It does not work consistently for anyone that has a substantial library period.  If your lucky, you get 6 songs before it freezes up.  Know countless people that have it.  Don't know a single person that it works for consistently (on an Iphone) who has a substantial library.  I have to run with my Nano because it doesn't work.  I have had Apple products since 1984, I know how to trouble shoot issues. There is no current solution.  Like other posters, I have tried every single possible fix, including all of those recommended here.  It's just not ready for prime time.  Until it is, it will continue to be be hit and miss, with the only temporary fixes being to go back to menu, select different mix, or playlist.  If that doesn't work, quit app.  If that doesn't work, restart the phone.  One of these will probably solve your problem, but again only temporarily for about 6 songs, and the cycle repeats itself.  You do get a little bit better results over WiFi and if you download all the songs to the iphone before you roll the playlist, but again inconsistent at best.  Best idea, worst implementation.  I'm sure Apple will eventually fix it.  Until then it is hit and miss.  I don't care about the $25 (but won't renew if not working when my year is up), just want it to work. GET WITH IT APPLE.  Match is a home run, devote more resources to getting the bugs out.

  • ITunes Web-Based or iTunes Match?

I'm sorry if this is not in the correct place. I searched for about an hour and did not find anything.
I have a really old ipod classic that i'm wanting to replace. My main issue in deciding between itunes and something like Amazon, is while I'm an Android user, I think music is best on an ipod, but I do not want to have to rely on iTunes.
We do not load iTunes on our workstations, and I have a seven year old workstation in our IT closet hanging onto its last breath just to run itunes. So here are my questions:
    1) Will the new itunes that i'm hearing about be web-based at all? I'm wanting to download music from my ipad or ipod from the store, and just have it available in itunes. But i DO NOT want to have to buy music or upload it through iTunes?
    2) Will iTunes Match in a way fix this? If i purchase iTunes match, can I now control all my music through match, or will i still have to have iTunes?
    3) I'm wanting a wifi ipod, but I really don't care for the ipod touch, mainly because it's like the iphone without the phone part. Are any other ipods wifi where I could purchase music through a wifi connect?
Please help. I'd love to stay with ipods, but like many people, i'm not wanting to hang onto iTunes, and i'd rather manage my music in the cloud in a web-based itunes or perhaps if itunes match could do this.
thanks in advance for your help!!
    Jason

I appreciate your professional and kind response, but alot of people feel that way. Especially the millions of people like me that like some of apples products, but feel that other devices might meet their needs better, or they might be in a work environment where PC or Android is more the norm.
Most other software is available web-based and I would have just thought this would have been a natural progression.
iTunes is a very resource heavy product, and people that enjoy the ipod and the benefits of iTunes, shouldn't be locked into having to download the huge program.
    Thanks again for your response.

  • ITunes Match:  iTunes has stopped working

I don’t see any other reports of this problem on the Apple Support Communities forum.  Am I the only person having this problem?
I subscribed to iTunes Match last weekend.  I have not been able to upload/match all of my songs.  Most of the songs that are ineligible are songs that I recorded myself.  But there are many other songs that I recorded myself that did upload.  When I try to match, I get the ITunes has Stopped Working message.
When I go to update iTunes Match, I get the following sequence:
Gathering information about your iTunes Library…  45 seconds
Waiting for Apple to deliver your iTunes Match Results… 120 seconds
Delivering your iTunes Match results…  20 seconds
Matching your music with songs in the iTunes Store…
Status bar gets about 95% through then sits for about 90 seconds.
    Uploading remaining songs and artwork…
After just a few seconds, I get the following error:
    iTunes has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem…
After about 60 seconds, I get the following dialogue box:
    iTunes has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
      Available.
    I have 11139 items.
Of those, 469 are ineligible, and 441 are Waiting.

    Hello Jimzgoldfinch,
Thanks for your reply.  It took me a couple of days to get to your suggestion.  I removed ALL ineligible tunes.  I did not remove the 1,000 or so songs that are waiting.  I signed out & back in, which I've probably done 30 times in the last few days.  iTunes pretty much requires that I do that each time I open iTunes.
I then interrupted the 3-step match process by clicking on the X in the progress window up top.  I then highlighted one song that showed the "waiting" cloud.  I right-clicked & chose "Add to iCloud".  It worked.  Then my iTunes screen kind of froze for about 10 seconds.  After it unfroze, I tried the same thing with another song.  This time, iTunes came back with a message about not being able to establish a network connection.  I closed iTunes, launched it again, and signed out & back in; tried another song; it worked; then tried 2nd song and got the same message.  I logged out & back in a 3rd time (or 35th time); tried an album; it worked.  iTunes froze again.  I right-clicked another tune, but the "Add to iCloud" option is missing.
This is incredibly frustrating and seems like a total waste of my time.  Would have been better to just buy an iPod to replace my 6-year old one that died.  I can't believe Apple has put out such a bug-ridden product.
Now I'm stuck because many songs won't sync to my iPhone because with iTunes Match (even if it's turned off), I can no longer control what gets synced.  And they're not in iCloud; so I can't download them.  I used to be able to choose songs, albums, genres & playlists to sync to my iPhone once I plugged it into my computer.  Now, when I click on the iPhone icon on the sidebar, those options are gone.
I guess I need to try to get in touch with Apple.
    ...Scott

  • What song data does iTunes Match sync?

iTunes Match seems to be completely broken in iOS 6. While ratings sync immediately, play count only does from time to time and last played never updates.
While being far from perfect, things worked better in iOS 5. I'm definately not going to renew and try to get a refund from Apple for my current subscription, since the product does not work.

iTunes Match has always had poor performance with Song data (metadata), see earlier post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3760002.
Agree IOS 6 has not improved, however, unable to see any information from Apple promising such performance - it is as though the limited IOS 5 capability was not a priority and has simply been left out of IOS 6.
It would help if Apple clearly stated the scope of intended iTunes Match / IOS capability - it appears limited to automatic sync of Song files grouped as playlists or Albums with no undertaking to share metadata beyond limited information such as Song names, album, artist and so on.
Have to agree that the service is limited, you can only assess the value on the limited capability available - for me, with multiple computers and iDevices (including Apple TV) it is still very good despite the limitations.
