Is iTunes Match down? Weird Problems...

Hello everyone,
I'm experiencing some weird issues with iTunes (latest version) / iTunes Match at the moment. As soon as I want to add more than one song (in the cloud) to a playlist via drag'n'drop, the connection gets lost and all of my songs in the cloud turn grey. When I restart iTunes everything gets back to normal until I try to do the same thing. Tried it with several songs already, so it should not be a file problem.
Turning iTunes Match on and off (for several times) did not resolve this issue – it got even worse. Now I can just see my local files although it says that iTunes Match is active and working fine. Everytime I hit 'update iTunes match', it says that all of my songs (I can see the total number of songs) are available. However, they don't show up in my list and the icloud status for my local files turns to "waiting" (even though they are all in the cloud already). Waited for several hours now (sometimes it takes a bit till everything shows up), but nothing changed. Really need to have access my files :-(
Does anyone have an idea? The official apple system status says that iTunes Match should work fine...
Cheers,
Mat

Hi,
Try holding option key whilst turning off match. Close itunes and reboot your computer. Try also rebooting your internet router.
Open itunes, turn on itunes match and select add this problem. When process is complete do you still have tracks "waiting"?
PS you do not need to select "Update Itunes Match" when adding new tracks. Match periodically runs when tracks are waiting. If you wish for process to start immediately, highlight tracks > ctrl+click and select add to icloud from pop up.

My MacBook Air is always telling me that my start up disk is full or nearly full. Will iTunes match alleviate the problem of storage on my Hard Drive?  I have an iCloud account.

It could, but I wouldn't.  You really need two external hard drives (one to act as a backup for the other one).  Relocate your entire iTunes library to the external drive unless there are things you would prefer to simply archive (movies you don't need to watch everyday).

To move a library if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.

  • ITunes Match down?

Is Itunes Match down??? I can't connect to it.. All my songs are grayed out...?? Anyone else?

iTunes Match service is very much alive and well.
Worth restarting your machine from cold, following a careful check on your network.
If the situation persists worth considering any recent software changes or configuration change that may make the service appear to stop - good examples being changes to firewalls / anti-virus software.

  • ITunes match being weird on iPad

    Hey,
    Ok, here is my problem.
I have a huge music collection and I tried to add it to iTunes match from my MacBook air. During the iTunes match process it crashed a few times and generally didn't go well, the music collection ended up in a bad iCloud state with lots of the cloud symbols with the exclamation mark in the middle. I then switched iTunes match on on my iPad and the music collection was in a similar state: lots of greyed out songs, some played, some didn't, etc etc
So I then deleted the whole music collection on my Mac taking care to tick the "also delete from iCloud box" so I could start again and give iTunes match another go from scratch. I then added some of the collection bit by bit and it went a lot better on iTunes match. The music collection now seems good with no errors and everything seems to play well. I have only added about 5% of it, but it's looking good so far.
Now here is my problem: I then switched on iTunes match on my iPad and it just sees what was there before: loads of songs that I haven't added yet to iCloud, greyed out songs, errors, etc etc. How can I make my iPad see iTunes match in the state it is now on my Mac, the state it actually is in iCloud?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.

It actually says 'this device is already associated with an apple id and i cannot use it for match for 37days. What the **** is going on? All my apple id's are the same one. Tis is outrageous for something i've paid for.

    any ideas?????

Hi to all, here in Brazil this morning I got surprise when I tried to play my songs on my iPhone 4 and sometimes it play, most of the time they don't. I am kind of disappointed because I was really enjoying having access to all my music library in our iPhones, iPad and Macbook. Also I have been promoting iTunes Match for workmates as a very nice trustful online service, but it seems that this Cloud based service is not fully operational or under maintainance today. I am going to try to remove from my active devices, but I hope all of us will be notified in this forum somehow! But I hope this problem may be fix soon, thank you all for collaborations on this subject. Marcelo.

  • ITunes Match ratings information problems with multiple computers/libraries

I have multiple Macs (business and personal) with similar but not identical libraries.  My business Mac did not contain any ratings information for the tracks in my library but my personal Mac did.  Once both machines (and my iOS devices) were linked to iTunes Match the only rating information that appears is that from my work Mac (which means no ratings).  All music is there but ratings info reflects that of the first Mac linked (play counts appear accurate).  Any ideas?

    Jake,
I did not read past that point.  Unless you have one account per person, you are going to have a mess.

  • ITunes match and library problems

    Hi
I'm getting very frustrated. i have a massive music library, and I recently subscribed to iTunes Match. Half of the songs on the library are greyed out both on my iPhone and my PC (where my music is stored. Mostly the music is not bought from iTunes, by the way.
Anyhow, one thread suggested it could be DRM issues. So I found an album that was greyed out, manually added it using "Add File to Library" and then it worked fine except to say that there were no duplicate titles in the library.
I don't want to go the manual route for so many songs, so is there a way I can delete the entire library database, remove all songs from iTunes match, get iTunes to search and add my entire mucic collection from scratch, and then add it back to the iTunes match system?
What's the best way of doing this please?
    Thanks

How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library
    Hope this helps

  • Itunes update causing weird problem for apple tv streaming songs

In itunes 10.5 when I choose apple tv as the external speaker and send songs through it plays the song and displays the cover of the album, title, song, name, and artist on the tv screen.  When I updated to 10.5.1 it does the same except that after the first song the cd cover is one behind what is playing.  For the sake of clarity, say I start the streaming songs on random play.  The first three songs might be "Misty" by Kate Bush, "Rolling Along" by Lucinda Williams, and then "The Foggy Foggy Dew" by Greg Brown.  When the first song plays it will be correct.  "Misty" will be playing, Kate Bush will be displayed as the artist and the cover of the Kate Bush album will be showing.  But when the next song comes on it will be playing "Rolling Along", Lucinda Williams will be displayed as the artist but the Kate Bush album cover will be displayed.  Then the next song comes on "The Foggy Foggy Dew" will be playing, Greg Brown will be displayed as the artist but the Lucinda Wililams cover will be displayed.  And so on.
I've experimented with it and feel certain it is the itunes update.  I still have version 10.5 on my laptop and that is working normally.  It is only the computer that I updated to 10.5.1 on that his having this weird thing occur.
    Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem.  Thanks for describing it so accurately.  My Apple TV underwent a software update last evening, but the problem remains.  Will be anxious to know when a fix has been applied.

  • Itunes match problem after update

Ever since my itunes has updated, my itunes match will not add (upload) any new songs. It will go through the steps on a continuous loop, I have tried deleting and readding songs and restarting match. Is anyone having the same issues? or know how to solve it? (I only have around 7400 songs on match). Please help!
    Thanks
    Pat

Hey guys have finnally found a fix! (uploads really slowly though) have a look at this forum: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4220354?start=60&tstart=0 (look at the image of "Beavis" post). I did exactly what "Phil" said in the forum "
I think I found a solution.  The problem seems to be the upload speed and your ISP.  I tested this by using my LTE connection instead and iTunes Match worked no problem.
So I found a free throttling app called Entonnoir and throttled all the ports that iTunes uses to a maximum of 100KB/s.
I ran iTunes Match and it's now working...slow, but working.
You can get the app from here...  http://tools.chocoflop.com/entonnoir_en.html
Here are the ports to throttle...
    TCP 5223
    TCP 80
    TCP 443
    TCP 3689
    TCP 8000-8999
    TCP 42000-42999"

  • ITunes Match and playlists broken in iOS 8

Since updating to iOS 8 I can no longer add songs to playlists from my phone (I have iTunes match).  When attempting to add a song sometimes it gets stuck in the add screen and does not show a "done" button to press or if I add one, it just doesn't add it to the playlist.  I can however add songs to the playlist from my mac and it will show up on my phone like normal, just unable to add from my phone.
Other iTunes or music app issues are songs not showing up where they should.  I had a song that downloaded from a pre-order, I changed the genre to one of the main genre's I use (like normal), added it to a playlist, and now that the entire album has become available and has downloaded the first track is not able to be found through either genre (either original or my own altered genre) or artist although it still shows up on the playlist.
One more thing about adding songs to a playlist on iOS.  I was glad to see that one of the buttons on the bottom (in the add screen) is playlists now as an option to add a song but if you edit the buttons on the bottom and move genre down there, it doesn't stay put.  It's back on the "more" screen each time.
Here's a suggestion to any apple folks if they're reading this, besides fixing the things above, how about from the song playing screen when you press the + button that an option is to "add to playlist".  When you click on that it brings you to your playlist view to select a playlist.  It's a pain in the butt when say you're listening to a song on shuffle, want to add said song to a playlist so you have to back out of the song playing screen, find the playlist (for which I have multiple layers due to playlist folders) click the add button, find the song (after you move genre to the bottom again) then click on the plus sign, hit done, make sure it took it, back out of the playlist view to get back to Now Playing.  For people like me who take advantage of iTunes Match and have a lot of music in their libaray, Genre and playlists are the easiest and quickest ways to find what I want to listen to and at times it's not very efficient.
Thanks for your considerations and eventual fixes.

iTunes Match has this problem with almost every iPhone software update. It's unfortunate that they cannot track down the issue. Hopefully this is not indicative of Apple's expertise when it comes to all cloud services. Music, photos and personal data are things that are important to all of us and we spend many hours on custom playlists, personal photo albums and are putting our trust that the work won't just disappear. iCloud drive is another promised feature and it's becoming tougher to trust a new free service when long-standing issues on a paid service cannot be fixed. I want to remain optimistic but so far, iTunes Match is not helping.
On a positive note, the playlists on my Apple TV matches perfectly with my iMac and was working well on my iPhone 5S. The update to iOS 8 on the 5S did NOT cause the playlists to go out of order. I have only seen this issue on new iPhone 6's and iOS 8. Also, moving playlists in and out of folders in iTunes on a Mac seems to be a temporary fix that only lasts as long as you are logged in – Signing out of iTunes Match on iOS and signing back in brings back the problem… which *****.

  • ITunes Match - Unknown Error Occurred (4010)

    Is iTunes Match down?
I can't connect and keep getting this error message:

I had this problem also and tried a few more troubleshooting steps (none of which worked), but they might help someone.
Sign out of Apple Id in iTunes, then sign back in
Turn on iTunes Match <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
Turn off/on iTunes Match while holding the Option Key <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
    Quit iTunes
Go into Finder -> Music and rename the "iTunes" folder to "iTunes Backup"
Hold down Option key while clicking on the iTunes icon to start it (this asks you to create a new iTunes library)
Created a new iTunes folder (Music -> iTunes)
Sign into Apple Id in iTunes, then turn on iTunes Match while holding the Option Key <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
Physically walk to another iMac and sign into iTunes and turn on iTunes Match while holding the Option Key <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
At this point, after having tested on multiple iMacs, I figured that the problem was not with my local iTunes, but something larger (on Apple's end).
Apparently, if you can't access iTunes Match on multiple computers, then the problem could be with your account and you will need to contact Apple Support.  I ended up describing my situation on the support page here - https://getsupport.apple.com/, and had them call me.  I spoke to Anastasia and she had to bump me up to another technician, Brandon.  He suggested that I delete the Album from iTunes...but alas, I cannot get access to the album to delete it without iTunes Match working.
Brandon finally spoke with an Engineer and they said that the issue was on my Apple Id Account and that they'd have to place the account into troubleshooting mode (which means giving Apple access to your account) so that they could figure out the problem.  Of course, I wanted this fixed, so I let them.  I'll hear back in 3-4 days what the engineers find.

  • ITunes Match, icon next to Music has a lightning bolt on it?

The icon next to Music in the top left (not the icon next to individual icones) has gone from a solid cloud, to a cloud with what seems to be a lightning bolt. If i click it, the icon becomes animated for several minutes, with wavy lines. Not sure what this indicates? both the lightning bolt or the wavy lines.

    Mine is not.
Match had been working perfectly. I decided to delete all my low bitrate matached songs and redownload them. The process was going perfectly and then I had to restart my Macbook. About 500 songs downloaded correctly and are now upgraded 256kbps AACs but every other matched song is greyed out and I cannot download it.
I have tried everything: turning off/on match, option clicking the match on/off button, creating a new itunes library, etc. No luck. I can see all my music and itunes match says all 7500 of my songs "are avilable in the cloud" but almost all of them appear in grey text and I cannot downloaded them.
Also, the cloud icon next to "music" on the sidebar shows animated diagonal lines.
Is iTunes match down? Anyone else having this issue?
Interesting, I can download/stream all 7500+ songs on my iPhone. The problem seems to be confined to itunes on my mac.

  • New Library, Existing files, & iTunes Match

I had a hard drive die but I have all of my music files backed up to a NAS. I use iTunes Match. My problem is now that I have a new installation of iTunes on the new hard drive, I don't have a library file anymore. I have an old backup of that file, but unfortunately, the hard drive was dead for a quite a while before I knew it, so it's pretty dated. On the new installation of iTunes, my cloud library shows up once I turn on Match, but it of course doesn't know that I have all (or most) of the music on the NAS, so it wants to play all of the music from the cloud instead of the local drive.
Is there any way to make the library file on the computer know the physical files are already present? Can I start a new library, add these files to it, and then turn on match? Is my only recourse to re-download my entire 20,000 song library?
I'm trying to make my cloud library, with all of my play history, remain intact and for that computer to point to the files on the NAS so it plays them locally instead of from the cloud.

What is the iCloud Status of the tracks?
In iTunes switch to Song view and pull down View > View Options then select "iCloud Status" and close the small window. Post the status here.

  • ITunes Match albums view completely wrong (only on iPad)

    Hi guys!
So for quite some time now I am having a big problem with my iTunes Match:
The albums view is completely f*cked up!
ALL albums I have show up under EVERY letter (meaning: To reach "B" after "A" I already scrolled through _all_ my albums)
Wrong songs show up in wrong albums
Number of songs per album is completely wrong
    ... and other things
This whole thing is really annoying as I have 3k songs in my iTunes Match lib.
    Important:
Deactivating and then Re-activating iTunes Match does NOT help.
ONLY occurs on my iPad 4! On Mac & Win and also on my iPhone 5 it is fine.
I didn't have this problem on iOS 6.
On another note (just my 2 cents):
iTunes Match altogether is _very_ buggy and I am having a lot of small problems with it! :/ (one being Step 1 takes about 30mins each time on my Windows PC)
    Can anybody help?!
    Thanks! Cheers, P

    I tried that as well!
    Didn't change anything! :/
I also tried deleteing these files on my iPad:
    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb
    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm
    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal
Then did a hard reboot! Also no change!
What is weird that when I swtich on 'order by artists' (or whatever this optin is called in English) the ordering of the Albums (by artists - obviously) works proplery and the right songs show up in the right albums.
Oh gosh I hate this iTunes Match thingy. Problems all over the place since release now.

  • ITunes Match availability outside the US

Hi, does anybody know when will iTunesMatch be available in Latin America?
I live in Peru and would like to subscribe to it,
    Thank you!

As best I can tell iTunes Match is down in the US. Apple's useless status page indicates no problems:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/
But AppleInsider has an article about the issue:
    http://appleinsider.com/articles/12/11/19/itunes-match-down-as-apples-icloud-iss ues-continue
