Is iTunes supposed to open, or just iPhoto?

From day one whenever I plug in my iPhone, iPhoto opens like it is supposed to, but that is all that happens. With my iPod, iTunes opens as well, but it does not do that for my iPhone....is it supposed to? What I end up doing is just clicking on iTunes to open, and then the automatic sync begins. I guess you would almost call it SEMI-AUTOMATIC.
Please let me know. Thanks!

Well, I figured it out finally! The solution is that iTunes Helper has to be one of your Log-in items, or you have to start it every time you turn on your computer. What it does is waits for an iPod or iPhone to be plugged in, and then tells iTunes to start up. Hope this helps anyone who may have this problem.

Means they are going to mess up your iPhoto Library pictures database  so it's unreadable by older versions of iPhoto on older OS X operating systems.
You have the choice to right click on the iPhoto Lbrary and inside is a folder called Origianls, use the Finder to Duplicate this folder, then move the OriginalsCopy out of the iPhoto Library folder and save it elsewhere.
I dont' think Apple will every intentionally touch the originals, however it's possible they could.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Itunes will not open, it just brings up a user account window which if ok alters shortcuts?

I have followed instructions found elsewhere to do the following:
•“C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe” -remove (Note: delete the quotes displayed here and type again using keyboard)
•Navigate to the following folder in Windows Explorer: C:\Program Files\Bonjour
•Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
    •Restart your computer
•Delete the the Program Files\Bonjour folder
All successful, now there is nothing that has anything to do with iTunes , Quictime, Apple Software Update, Bonjuor,...etc on my machine, now what do I install so I can get iTunes to work on Win 7 x 64 bit edition... ?
    Thanks,

Have you tried opening iTunes?  Does iTunes detect that the iPhone is connected?

  • Itunes Store not opening after updating Itunes

    Hey guys
I can't get the itunes store to open, I just updated Itunes and did all the troubleshooting that is reccomended on apple.com to make sure everything is up to date.  Any ideas of how to solve it?
    Thanks

Cindy, I had that one. I can't remember all of the steps I took but I can now get iTunes working and not recognizing my iPod (I get the message that I need to reinstall iTunes).
You need to uninstall iTunes and QuickTime through the Add / Remove Programs AND delete certain folders.
    This page should help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Ignore the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Microsoft.
Does anyone know if Apple bothers to check the forums anymore. Have they hung us out to dry?

  • I have nothing on this macbook air just iPhoto and iTunes and the error startup dic full message keeps coming up and the storage is full of other i don't know what to do.

i have nothing on this macbook air just iPhoto and iTunes and the error startup dic full message keeps coming up and the storage is full of other i don't know what to do.how do i delete all of this?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

ANything you guys know that may help is fine..I'm in need of help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I've been messin with this for about 4 hours now, I finally found the solution to my problem and would like to share in hopes of helping. Every time I tried to open itunes I recieved this error message:
"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell microsoft about the problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to us. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.
    <send error report> <don't send error reptort>
I sent the error report ... and eventually got this link http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302372
Which basically lays out my whole problem - and I did all of the suggested steps but still...
same message... same problem... and no solution.
I came to the mssg boards and tried all these suggested steps that are on this post to no avail. Reinstalled everything over and over. Then I found this:
for itunes 6.0.x, the first thing i check for with one of those is a broken quicktime. does your quicktime currently launch, or does it give you an error message?
try a careful standalone QT 7.0.3 reinstall.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
I went and downloaded the standalone quicktime, installed it. Opened the quicktime program to make sure it worked, which it did, then tried itunes again.......
    WALLLA IT WORKS!!!! Finally
hope this might help, good luck.

  • Just downloaded mavericks, now iPhoto won't load because of an error message that says "You can't open the application "IPhoto" because it is not supported on this type of Mac" . I have a 17" MacBook Pro, mid 2010 model running 2.53 GHz and Intel Core I5,

I just downloaded the new Mavericks operating sytem on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro, 17" 2.53GHz, Intel Core I5 machine. My IPhoto is no longer working at all, I'm getting an error message that says - "You Can't open the application "IPhoto" because it is not supported on this type of Mac". I also loaded Mavericks onto my other MacBook Pro 17", mid 2009 model and everything works fine. I would think that the newer Mac would easily work with IPhoto. Also, when I try to download from the App Store, it asks for my Apple ID and Password, I enter it, and then the little spinning color wheel just spins forever, with nothing ever happening. I tried downloading the IPhoto Upgrade but it never actually downloads, HELP!!!

What version of iPhoto do you have installed?  Is if one of the versions shown as not compatible in this screenshot?
If it is then go to the App Store and download iPhoto 9.5.  It will be free if you have an iPhoto 9 or later verson currently.

  • The iphoto and itunes will not open please help

on my Mac G5 the iphoto and itunes will not open can anyone help

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Then, hold the Option key down when trying to open iPhoto, does it ask where it's Library is? Or what exactly happens?

Is anyone else having this problem?
I tried to re-install and got the following message:  iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
Does this mean I have now lost everything?

I just had the same error:
    R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact the apps support team for more info.
I went to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 and did a complete removal and reinstallation of iTunes. You MUST follow the directions here exactly...it's more than just iTunes that must be removed, and it MUST be done in the order in which the support article says.  I followed the exact instructions, and iTunes is back on my machine (no more C runtime error) and you do NOT lose your music...it's all in my library, as it was before.
    Good luck!
