  • BootCamp made for Windows Vista would not install in WIndows 7

    Hi,
I am trying to install Bootcamp drivers on Windows 7 with the Mac OS CD that came with my Intel-based iMac. The problem is that I bought my iMac when the latest Windows was Vista, and it would not install on Windows 7. The Bootcamp drivers for Windows 7 on Apple Support pages are "UPDATES" that require BootCamp 3.0 already installed in Windows. However, I cannot install BootCamp 3.0 in the first place, because it would be installed only on Vista. What should I do to have BootCamp installed on my Windows 7 so that I can set the default booting OS to be Mac OS again?

Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & Windows, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.
    The Forums are at the bottom of the main Apple Discussions page under Windows Compatible Technology. Here is a link;

  • How do I distribute a dll with UserControl made for Windows Phone 8.1 Xaml WinRT to other developers

I have created a dll for Windows Phone 8.1 Xaml WinRT.  It has two UserControls and two classes with APIs for developers to use.  In the Silverlight environment, I would just send the DLL from the BIN directory to the other developers who would
reference it and be able to consume the UserControls.
With WP 8.1 Xaml there are several files in the BIN directory besides the DLL; there is also the following:
    A .pdb file
    A .xbf for each UserControl
    A .pri file
    A .xr.xml file
When I send it to the other developers and they have all of the files from the BIN directory, they reference the .DLL but get the following when they try to use one of the UserControls at design time:
TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
TypeLoadException: Could not find Windows Runtime type 'Windows.UI.Xaml.TickBar'.How do I need to package this for the other developers to be able to consume properly.  I looked at Visual Studio
Extensions that that seems like a lot of work to just send someone a DLL.
    Dick

    Hello Dick ,
I have a problem similar to your problem, currently I am making a one dll file that contained  one class file and one User control. after build project
I could see files like  this a photo.
Acutually I am trying to  make a extension sdk, but I don't know correctly how to place files to dirctroy.
As mentioned by you I tried to follow.
    LIBRARYNAME.dll
    LIBRARYNAME.pri
    LIBRARYNAME(folder)
    ---UserControl.xbf
    ---UserControl.xaml
    ---UserControl.xr.xml
But I can not use the xaml( usercontrol.xaml ) on when installed in other apps.
This is my vsix folder sturucutre ,Let me know if you ever know about that

  • Does windows really run the same on a mac with bootcamp for any made for windows apllications?

I want to buy a mac for work, but the softwares we use are for windows ( iris-net, easera systune, elgar) . If i install windows on bootcamp, it will work?

The concept of running Windows on a Mac is not hard to understand.  It's nothing more than one computer capable of running both Mac and Windows.

  • Presentation made for windows

Im trying to make a presentation in keynote but then be able to play it with all effects etc in a windows pc. How will i do this?

The short answer is you can't, at least not easily and without possible glitches. Keynote uses effects that simply aren't available in PowerPoint, and the technology differences between OS X and Windows means there is not a "Keynote Player" for Windows. The best results you'll get are to export your presentation as an interactive QuickTime movie -- this will support the "click for next slide" functionality of the presentation, and capture all the transitions and animations in video. The downside is that the Windows machine will have to have QuickTime installed (and likely the latest version at that).
If you don't need the interactivity, you can export the presentation as a QuickTime movie, then convert it to a more Windows-friendly format like AVI or MPEG using a standard video app. You may lose some video quality in the conversion, however.

  • HT1846 I have a windows 7, and i'm trying to make my Mac's Magic Mouse work on my PC... do i need to download this BootCamp? or should i install a driver especially made for Windows 7?

Is there any way that i can have my Magic Mouse to run on my PC (Windows 7)?
i am looking for drivers online, but i don't want to install something that Apple may not approve of. I'm sure if there were such a driver, then Apple would have provided it; unless i have missed something.

when one makes the bootcamp driver disc in bootcamp on osx it builds a cd with apple tested drivers for the hardware for windows

    Hi arnienelly,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.   I gather that you are getting the HP Rewards pop-up on your computer.
Did you follow the instructions that Ciara_B gave in her post directly above yours?  If so, what was the result?
    Thank you.

  • Does Windows Update (for Windows 8 at least) update the MBR and, if so, how?

I ask because I've learned (the hard way) that if you use software that locks the mbr (in my case Rollback RX), then after performing a windows update, sfc /scannow will tell you that nearly all the updated files are "corrupt". Conversely, if I
perform the same exercise without Rollback installed, I get no errors or corruptions.
I speculate that the update must be doing something similar to what is supposed to happen in the TCM scheme, with a hash table or something similar held in the mbr, which gets updated at the time of the windows update, to store the signatures of the revised
system files or whatever, so that the system can verify file integrity as it loads them during the boot.
But I can find no evidence to support my speculation. Clearly something like that must be happening or we wouldn't see the alleged corruptions when using a locked mbr.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
According to your description, You Windows update installation corruption obviously caused by
Rollback RX. But that does not mean Windows update installation is relate with MBR. It is probably this software had a compatibility problem with Windows 8. I would like to recommend you to contact
the vendor of this software to verify the compatibility of this software.
    MBR:
the most important data structure on the disk, is created when the disk is partitioned. The MBR contains a small amount of executable code called the master boot code, the
disk signature, and the partition table for the disk. At the end of the MBR is a 2-byte structure called a signature word or end of sector marker, which is always set to 0x55AA. A signature word also marks the end of an extended boot record (EBR) and the boot
    sector.
You can refer to the link below for more information about  MBR:

  • HPSolution software available for download for windows 8 and d110A all in one?

I got a new computer runnning windows 8.1. I tried to use the installation disk that came with the printer, but it is not made for windows 8. I tried downloading software from the website, but it only had eprint and that did not work right. I removed it. I really want the hp solutions- I could do so much from my computer with it.

Hi KarH and welcome to the HP Forum,
I understand that you are having an issue installing the software for Windows 8.1. I will try my best to help you resolve this. Here is the a download for the HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers. I suggest that you download and save it to your computer and then run it. Since you've had a previous version on I recommend using the HP Officejet Pro Software and Driver Removal Utility to make sure that everything was removed before installing again.
I hope this helps, let me know how it goes.
    Thank you,

  • An emulator for windows software

I need to run a simple windows software program on my Macbook running 10.6.4
I have just looked at crossover and also at iemulator.
It appears that crossover does not require the installation of Windows software. Am I reading that correctly?
iemulator does require windows, but it has the added advantage of working on all my Macs including a non-intel Mac.
I don't anticipate needing this for many applications, but I would like to have something that is simple.
Have you found any solution that might work for me?
    Thanks,
    Jemel

Your MacBook and your Mac Mini if it has at least 4 USB ports on rear can both use the VMWare, Parallels, VirtualBox, and Boot Camp. These programs are known as virtualization engines. These are not to be confused with emulators. Emulators emulate hardware. An Intel Mac does not need CPU or GPU hardware to be emulated, and only needs the firmware that is more commonly known to PCs to be given to the environment in question.
Crossover does not require Windows installation, but does require an Intel Mac such as your MacBook or a 4 plus USB port Mac Mini. Its application support though is nowhere near as great as actually having a full fledged virtualization software. You can check its website to find out which application support it does have.
Before you get any virtualization, WINE, or Emulator software, ask yourself what applications made for Windows you need to read their documents on a Mac? Maybe there is a Mac public domain software that can read the same documents.

  • I bought creative suite cs5 for windows, but registered it for a mac. what can i use it on now?

it isnt accepting the serial number on a windows computer so does this mean i can use it on a mac? eventhough it is made for windows software?

I'm not really clear what you are trying to say. As Manish pointed out, registration has nothing to do with serialization and activation. However, serial numbers are platform specific. If you bought only recently and fall within return policies, then contact customer support, for everythin grefer to this document: Order an Adobe product platform swap or language swap.

  • HT1899 Hi There. Is there a version of BootCamp support software for Windows 8 Customer preview?

Hi There. Is there a version of BootCamp support software for Windows 8 Customer preview as yet?

8 is now Release Preview, not CP, and there is the final release 90-day trial Enterprise which is all cleaned up and ready to use.
So at least someone should be going over with this by now. Things I had that did not work right and unsupported with the Previews are working, but some, a few, need updates.
I don't think most of the issues people have with Mac running 8 are deal breakers or can't be worked around, maybe 2-3 items and heck even 'supported' - if it worked plug and play and no issues... the forum would be dead silent, but it isn't.
Not going to do it again but I have tried to post a consolidated of trackpad, graphics, audio, BT, and other things that get mentioned.
8 won't be ready to buy for full two months.

  • Can't download plug in for windows media player. Have used download site and it says it worked, but plug in is not showing up on my list of plug ins.

I tried to hear a conference call on a website. Got a message, needed windows media plug in. Checked my plug ins, no windows media. Read tutorial on firefox support. Clicked on download. Got a window that asked for repair or change. Tried repair, then change. Need better directions on how to finish download. Got message download successful, but after closing firefox and reopening, still no plug in for windows media in list of plug ins. Went to site and could not hear conference.
Read support forum. Message about using about:config. Tried this, typed in about: config in start menu, but didn't see anything that looked like I could change to true like message said.
solved by opening internet explorer and going to website and listening to conference call on windows media player. There was a message saying click here if you want to enable media player. Did so, heard conference.
Tried using chrome. Got to hear conference yesterday. Today, there was same message about needing plug in when I tried to follow instructions to get plug in, it was as confusing and useless as firefox. The bottom line is I tried to do everything set forth in firefox's forum suggestions and can't get the windown media plug in to show up in my list of plug ins and can't hear conference calls on firefox.
Chrome did say they were working on getting plug in available at chrome store.
I agree with comments that I was able to go to web sites and hear calls before firefox made an update that removed my windows media plug in. The simple download fix, presumeably from windows, does not work, apparently because firefox can't find the fix. That is not the user's fault, and it looks like windows tried to provide a fix, and firefox won't recognize it.
Bottom line, it is easier to use another browser, than try and get the windows media player plug in installed on firefox. What good is a browser, if you can't hear a call on the website that the browser takes you to? Please make it easy to install the windows media plug in on firefox. Thank you..

Firefox can find plugins in several locations, but Firefox 21 changed the location of the "shared" plugin folder so older installers like the Microsoft Windows Media Plugin no longer drop the DLL file in the correct location.
There apparently are two ways to address this:
    (1) Change a Firefox preference so that Firefox checks the old location. Here's how:
    (i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''plugins''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''plugins.load_appdir_plugins''' to switch its value from false to true.
This will take effect after you restart Firefox.
    (2) Copy the plugins folder to the new location. Here's how on Win 7 64-bit:
Open a Windows Explorer window to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Right-click and copy the '''Plugins''' folder
Double-click the '''browser''' folder to open it
    Right-click and paste
Right-click the new copy of '''Plugins''' and rename it to '''plugins'''
After restarting Firefox, the plugins in that folder should now be available.
''Edit: I suggest just doing #1.''

  • Firefox will not run after System restore or running in compatibility mode for windows 98. How do I fix this? I already tried all other solutions on this site.

I was running Firefox fine just yesterday. I screwed up the registry a litle while removing an installed program completely, so I restored the system and everything appeared to work fine. I then decided to play an old video game, Return to Krondor, which was made back in 1998, so I ran the program with no other programs running in compatibility for windows 98. After finishing the game, I closed it and put the computer in hibernation mode. I come back today and firefox will not run at all. It is not running in the background and there are no programs running. There are no services running which could interfere with it. I think somehow Firefox may think I'm in compatibility mode still, but I have no idea.
I'm running windows Vista 32 - bit with an AMD 2.4ghz processor, 4gb ram on an Emachine computer. I have already tried system restore, restart, processes etc. Nothing works. I can still run Internet explorer and all other programs.

The person that I was assisting, has Windows 7 which has 64 bit system. Her browser was IE 10.
Was IE11 ever offered (or installed) via Windows Update?
Is her computer currently fully-patched at Windows Update?
Is Adobe Shockwave Player v12.1 (or higher) installed on her computer?
Is Adobe Flash Player v15.0.0.189 (or higher) installed on her computer?

  • Mov reference file will not open in QuickTime 7.7.4 for Windows

    Hi,
I have a mov reference file which opened fine in QuickTime 7.6.2 but since upgrading to 7.7.4 the file will no open. I get the following error:
Error -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie.
The file contains one PAL MPEG2 video track and one stereo PCM audio track. It also contains a timecode track.
    See movie inspector below:
Can anyone help me understand why this file will not open with the latest version of QuickTime. I cannot supply the file but can give any information about atoms etc. which can be read using QTAtomViewer.
I am using Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.
    Many thanks,
    Kate

For those who want to call, the following menu options will get you to the Quick Time install tech support:
2 - takes you to the Quick Time submenu
2 - takes you to tech support
then, choose 1 for Mac or 2 for windows
Initially, I was told by tier 1 tech rep Shawn that the update server may not be up or that it may be a firewall issue on my side.
After telling him that I have confirmed that it is a problem with the update server sending a NULL (0 byte) response to the update query, he said I would have to just download the latest one in order to have the most up-to-date version and "just check back periodically to see if the update server is working".
He mentioned there was a Quick Time standalone download available (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html), but that is still ~20MB & doesn't help the fact that probably over 90% of the people who run Quick Time have the option to automatically check for updates set and will never realize they're running an old, vulnerable version of Quick Time.
He gave me a case number after I asked for one: 58027568
If you'd like to add to mine and/or Rob's, it surely couldn't hurt.
I suppose my next course is to try emailing contacts at apple to see what kind of response they have. Considering this problem has been there ever since QT 7 for Windows has been released (I don't remember ever checking for updates when running QT 7 beta), it's strange that it's still a problem.
