Is iWeb only geared to work with one machine with publishing?

Hi all,
I used iWeb on my Mac at work and published a website. Whenever I needed to edit that page I just open up iWeb and make my changes and re-publish. But when I open iWeb from my Mac at home, I can no longer access my site from the site organizer. Does that mean I need to send myself the iWeb file stored locally on my work machine, and then if I publish from my other mac at home, does that overwrite the site page I published from work?
It seems like iWeb is really geared to work in a one machine operation. Is this true or am I missing something? Let me know if I need to clarify further...thanx..

It looks like the iweb stores the site you created in
/Users/<your name>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites
This is the file I take between machines if I want a copy of my website on another mac. So when I load this in the path above, I can open the site and edit / upload and make changes. Dont forget to take it with you when your done.

Internet only works on one machine at a time

I have three linux machines on my local network - my server running mandrake,one running gentoo and the other running a new install of Arch
Trouble is, that whenever the arch box acceses the internet, the gentoo box has real trouble with doing so - all the name lookups fail...
As soon as I stop network activity on the arch box - the gentoo box is fine again
I realise this could be an issue with my ISP - but it does seem odd that the network is only struggling when more than one machine is trying to get online...
My server is the only box with direct access to the net
Any ideas what could be wrong here?
Edit: another reason to suspect it's a linux thing is that the windows laptop also on the same network has none of the same problems...

I would suspect wrong network configuration (ip conflict? nat?) But without any details it's almost impossible to help you.
First of all you have to tell us if you connect your gentoo and arch boxes through your mandrake server with nat or maybe all 3 boxes are connected to some external router/switch/whatever? Please post your net configs (at least from rc.conf). If all 3 boxes are connected directly to your provider this may also mean that there are some limits - in this case I would suggest connecting desktop machines through your server with nat or buying some small hardware router. That's as much as I can tell for now until you provide some configs.
EDIT: one more thing: if you say that your win notebook works just try to copy it's config options to arch - it should be easy. Check ip, dns servers, if it uses dhcp - basic things form network connection properties - tcpip protocol.

Well in outer Mongolia ASAP means something totally different and involves weaving tent fabric from camel hair so that has taken me a bit of time.... However if you have the patience of a saint and the compassion of Mother Theresas' more helpful sister then....
So it would appear I have the following supersonics:
OSX 10.2.1
60 Gb HD
G4 dual processor 1GHz
Now the critical issue here is that I get the computer up to speed enough to be compatible with a modern photo printer - which I think needs to be 10.4.11 or even 10.5

Do I need BootCamp in order to work with Publisher files?

I need to be able to create and work with Publisher files. From what I've read, the only two options are: 1. buy a PC (UGH) and then purchase Windows and Publisher.
OR
2. Purchase BootCamp, Windows and Publisher.
I was hoping that by some miracle, some software company has addressed this. Like Pages or Word.
Any recommendations?

You need MS Publisher which is not available for the Mac, there are no compatible programs as far as I know.
Do you need BootCamp? if you are planning on installing Windows natively then yes, or you could run it in a VM, but with less performance usually.
Or buy a cheap PC (with windows) and run it there.

SSIS package works on one machine and gives conversion error on other machine

Hi All,
I have 150 + packages, I am fetching data from Oracle (11g) and loading in SQL Server. My problem is all the packages works fine on one machine whereas some of the packages give error "cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types"
on other machine. Please note I have implemented data conversion in all the relevant packages and I have used SSDT for the migration.
My question is why the packages are working on one machine and not on another machine? How can I fix the issue without changing the packages (as it works on one machine) and where should I look for the problem?

One more observation, the machine on which all the packages are working reads char, varchar, nvarchar and nchar data type from source as DT_WSTR whereas on other machine it reads as DT_STR and DT_WSTR.
Can you check the datatyype mapping definition file under
<installationdrive>\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\MappingFiles
and see if two systems have any difference in file contents for Oracle to SSIS mapping?

Office 2010 created PDF only bringing up Work with Certificates option with Signing

When creating PDF documents with Microsoft Word 2010, the only Sign option showing is Work With Certificates and is greyed, I Need To Sign and Get Others to Sign is missing. My previous PC with Windows 7/Office 2010 and Reader Xi was able to sign documents. I'm also able on my old XP machine to create a dummy pdf in Word 2010 and sign it in Reader, and on my Windows8/Office 2013/Reader Xi PC. Any idea as to where this might have been broken?
With the PDF file created in 2013, I Ctrl+D'd to get the security settings as it's commonly suggested that electronic signatures is failing because of a setting there, however I'm still able to sign it with Signing: Not Allowed and get the full signing menu instead of the Work With Certificates.

Importing video only working on one machine

I have iTunes running on my desktop PC and over recent weeks have ripped most of my DVDs into MP4 files. Then using home sharing I can play these films on my new Apple TV.
This all works fine
But I have no desire to leave my desktop PC running 24x7 just to serve movies to ATV as this would use a lot of energy so I tried to set up a virtual PC on my home server which could run 24x7 and run iTunes on that. No matter what I tried, I could not get iTunes on that VM to import movies (the same files that ran fine on my desktop PC) so I put it down to a lack of resources on the VM.
So I have now built a new desktop PC specifically to be used for iTunes. Running WIndows 7 and iTunes and nothing else, this machine also refuses to let me import the MP4 files into iTunes.
I have Quicktime installed and the settings in iTunes as identical to the other desktop but it refuses to let me import movies. The exact same movies that are working just fine on my other desktop PC.
So what gives?
lLearly the MP4 files are compatible with iTunes as they are working just fine on my old PC but not on the new one.
Am i going mad? Has anybody else come across this before?

I'm going to add to this.
I have just discovered that if I access the iTunes library on the old desktop from the new one via Home Sharing, I can use the import button to copy the movies from one machine to the other. They play fine and stream to ATV fine from here.
The only thing that is odd is that when the file arrives in the new iTunes library, if there was no embeded album art, there is no auto generated thumbnail!
So clearly the MP4 files CAN play on the new machine so this is very much an oddity
I'm now sure I'm going mad here. Anybody?

I have two 30 GB iPod's, B&W. But only on will work with iTunes.

Only one of my iPod's will work with iTunes
And I cannot use my other one, because I can't transfer the music on the white iPod on iTunes to the black one.

I have old mac software 10.3.9 and the only firefox that works with it is 2.0.0.20. i cannot afford a new laptop or software. which upgrade will work with my G4 powerbook built in 2004

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last version of Firefox that works on OS X 10.3.9

Have discovered how to split visual and audio tracks. However the cut away only seems to work with still images from iPhoto!

trying to cut away from one video clip to a second one, while keeping the original sound track, works with still images imported from iPhoto, but cant get the video to drag/drop. please help thanks

OK that sounds correct. Just to clarify, when the sign appears, as you release the mouse button (or whatever you are using), no menu pops up but the clip immediately positions itself:

No, there is no double-click or right-click involved at all. Just drag and drop, then select from the pop-up menu. You should be able to repeat this with no issues. I've also tested dropping video onto a still picture - the cutaway works on that as well.
Something is definitely not working correctly - strange! Quit iMovie, then try deleting the preference file as I described in my last post. Quitting and relaunching iMovie might even fix it. Also, try restarting your Mac - that sometimes helps.

Time capsule only seems to work with my macbook pro, not vista. (wifi)

So I received my TC today and set it up. Everything is working perfectly except the new wifi network I created only works with my macbook pro, not my other laptop that has windows vista installed on it. It only works with vista when I take off the password from the network. When it's on, it says something about the settings being invalid for that particular computer. I think it has something to do with the WPA2 encryption.
Any suggestions?

Mobile mouse 4000 horizontal wheel scroll doesn't work with Publisher 2007 or 2010

I installed a new Mobile Mouse 4000 on my W7 64 bit Dell laptop. Installed Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, Drivers are up to date. The horizontal scrolling via lateral press on the wheel does not work properly with
Publisher 2010 or 2007. The scroll bar moves, but not the graphic. It works properly with Word and Excel. Is this mouse not compatible with Publisher? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mouse and the mouse software.

That's correct. Also, same problem with the same mouse on another laptop running W8.1. I tried your suggestion and Ctrl + Left and Right Arrow moves the graphic OK. I have since tried the mouse with Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and found that the lateral
press on the wheel has no effect at all. The mouse software (Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center) has a selection box for applications that do not respond properly to wheel scrolling; I selected Publisher and Photoshop from the list but this had no effect
either. The horizontal scroll works properly with MS Picture Manager, Power Point and Access in addition to Excel and Word. Publisher is the only Office app that has a problem. The Office suite on the W8 laptop is a new install with all current updates. I
ran MS Office Diagnostis which said it repaired some issues, but didn't solve the Publisher scroll problem.

I love my new MacBook Air, but one issue. I use Publisher for my work, making marketing materials on a weekly basis. I alternat between a PC and my Mac laptop and it's tough not being able to use Publisher on the Mac since that is what I know and work with best. Is there any way to get it on here so I can move between the PC and Mac seemlessly? (For instance, I'll start working on a project during the day on my PC then want to continue later on my laptop on the couch or in bed and right now I can't.)

Win 7 and Office get along just fine with Parallels Desktop or VMWare too. Strangely, while I find Win8 to be peppier on hardware, I find it a bit slower than Win7 in virtualization.
You might also take a look at Pages for the Mac.

Movie Playback Problems - works on one machine, not another

Embeded a Windows Movie Maker using Acrobat 9. Works on my machine, but not another. Both are Windows machines. The other machine gets an error message.
What could be the problem?

I embeded a wmv file -- just because that's what i created the file with.
I think I may have solved the problem -- I converted the wmv file into a
flv for acrobat 8 and higher, then embeded movie file into the pdf.

Only Front speakers work with Vista and x

New Windows Vista, installed x-fi extreme gamer and only the front three speakers work on 5. system. Help, i tried and downloaded the update from Creative, no help, still not working, any fixes, i want my 5. like my old XP system allowed....
