Is iWork '09 license purchaseable (to run Keynote on 10.7)?

I'd like to use Keynote.   I have a Mac running Lion (10.7), and don't want to upgrade to Mavericks yet - please don't suggest that.
I'm trying to buy iWork '09 (which runs on Lion and includes Keynote) - the free-trial is available, but expired.
So: Is it still possible to buy an iWork '09 license code, from Apple or a reseller?   Or to buy a copy of iWork '09 that includes a license?

Apple have discontinued iWork 09 and no longer sell it. Amazon and Ebay are the only places that
will have iWork 09 readily available.

    Hi,
I have iWork '06 on my Mac (running OS 10.6.8). Will I be able to use the Keynote files it produces with the Keynote iPad app?
    Thanks,

You probably can open the Keynote '06 files with Keynote for iOS but not the other way around. Files created by the iOS iWork apps can only be opened by iWork '09 apps on the Mac.

  • IWork 09 License

Prevously downloaded and installed iWork 09 with a Family Pack license on Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Now, iWork is only available in the App store. How should I download, install, & re-register iWork for Mountain Lion (10.8.0)?

    Manikoth,
Regardless of Dah•veed's useless commentary, your question is perfectly reasonable.
Here's a solution for those who have valid iWork '09 licenses, and who are willing to type commands in a Terminal window. I'll be pedantic so that these instructions can be followed by non-power users:
You'll need Admin access to your computer, and you'll need to type your password at least once (for the "sudo" commands listed below).
Use your web browser to download Apple's iWork 9.1 update package from http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1097. This "iWork 9.1 update" is the last update that works on OS X 10.6.8. Sometimes Apple changes support URLs, so if this link is no longer valid, try searching for "iWork update 9.1" at http://www.apple.com/support/. Make note of where you've placed the download; e.g., my downloads go into the "Downloads" folder in my home directory, so my download would be at "Downloads/iWork9.1Update.dmg".
In the Finder, locate and double-click "iWork9.1Update.dmg". Your computer will mount this disk image, and then it will present you with a new volume named "iWork_9.1_Update(Manual)" in the Finder.
Launch Apple's Terminal program. This is found at "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal". This will open a Terminal window where you can type commands.
Type the following commands to manually extract iWork '09 from the volume "iWork_9.1_Update(Manual)":
    cd /Volumes/iWork_9.1_Update\(Manual\)/iWork_9.1_Update.pkg/
    sudo cp Contents/Archive.pax.gz /
    cd /
    sudo gunzip Archive.pax.gz
    sudo pax -r -f Archive.pax
    sudo rm Archive.pax
For those who aren't very familiar with the command line:
The commands that start with "sudo" will only work if you have Admin access to your computer, and they'll require you to enter your password at least once.
Some of these commands may need to run for several minutes.
These commands will do the following: copy the compressed "iWork 9.1 update" archive from the iWork '09 update package to the root directory of your computer; decompress the archive; extract all of the "iWork 9.1 update" files from the archive to their proper locations; and, when you're done, delete the decompressed archive.
For more information about these commands, you can type "man sudo", "man gunzip", or "man pax" to read the manual pages for these commands.

    hello,
I had the same issue. This is what I was told to do.
iWork has to be removed completely to be effective when re-installing, you must use an application removal tool to do this or it wont remove every Keynote file.
Appcleaner   will do this and its free.
The following procedure has helped solve many issues with Keynote:
1  Close Keynote then use Appcleaner
    2  Empty the Trash
3  Shut down the Mac, then restart and press the shift key immediately after the startup sound, then release shift when the Apple logo appears
allow the Mac to boot up to the desktop, it will take longer then usual as the hard drive is being repaired
    4  restart the Mac
    5  Reinstall iWork
    6  Repair permissions:
Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > First  Aid:   click on your system disc in the drive column
              and select Repair  Disk Permissions
    7  open Keynote and test

  • HT1338 I have MacBook with OS 10.5.8. Is there any way for me to install and run keynote on this machine? Do I need to upgrade OS and how? Thanks

I have MacBook with OS 10.5.8
Is there any way for me to install and run Keynote on this machine? Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Keynote '09 is compatible with your computer, but you won't get the latest Keynote version running that version. As you have an Early 2008 MacBook, first I recommend you to update to Mac OS X Snow Leopard to get newer versions of all applications but without losing any applications > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard Make a backup before upgrading.
The DVD contains Mac OS X 10.6.3, so after upgrading, open  > Software Update to update to 10.6.8. Then, you will get access to the App Store.
However, the Keynote version available in the App Store is only compatible with OS X 10.7.5 or newer, so now you have two options:
    1. Upgrade to OS X Lion and purchase Keynote from the App Store.
    2. Keep Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard, and buy Keynote on a DVD in eBay or Amazon. Note that you won't be running the most recent Keynote version, but it doesn't mind (the latest version only adds iCloud support)

Wow, thanks very much for the speedy responce, I'd like to say that's great, but it's not the answer we were hoping for, ho hum - sorry for ignorance, new to Apple :-)

  • [svn] 2847: add code coverage ability to asc build.xml ( clover jar and license required to run)

    Revision: 2847
    Author: [email protected]
    Date: 2008-08-14 15:06:10 -0700 (Thu, 14 Aug 2008)
    Log Message:
add code coverage ability to asc build.xml (clover jar and license required to run)
    Modified Paths:
    flex/sdk/trunk/modules/asc/build/java/build.xml

I ran into this same problem when using ProGuard 4.1 for Java obfuscation. The problem is that there is a space in the path to your JDK/JRE, for example: c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_03. Because there is a space before the word "Files", it isn't working. The solution to to wrap quotes around that particular command-line argument. In ANT, I needed to use single-quotes (because double-quotes were already in use for the XML attribute) such as:
    <java jar="proguard.jar" fork="true" timeout="30000">
    <arg value="-libraryjars"/>
<arg value="'${java.home}/lib/rt.jar'"/> <!-- Notice both double and single quotes used on this line. -->
...rest of the arguments go here...
    </java>
Alternatively, using ProGuard's custom ANT Task, it would look something like (notice the use of double-quotes around the rt.jar location):
    <proguard>
    -libraryjars "${java.home}/lib/rt.jar"
...rest of the arguments go here...
    </proguard>
Anyways, I hope this helps you or anyone else who runs into the same problem. Both of these approaches have worked for me.

  • Can't install iWork on 1st Gen MBP running 10.6.8

I have a 1st generation MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.8. I tried downloading iWork from the App Store and I'm given this message: Keynote can't be installed on New HD because Mac OS X version 10.7.4 or later is required. This seems odd given I had a previous version of iWork installed before having to completely reinstall the OS. Now that I have a newer OS and I wish to upgrade (and pay for) the newer version of iWork I can't. Any thoughts?

If you had a version of iWorks installed then YOU HAD a DVD of iWorks. So find that DVD and reinstall from that. Then you may be able to update it to the newest versions that will run on Snow Leopard from Software Update.

  • IWork '09 programs will not run on Lion

I have iWork 09 installed on my MacBook Pro.  After installing Lion, none of the three software programs will open.  I get an error telling me to contact the developer and make sure I am running the most current version of the software.  I have run all the standard Software Updates and everything seems to be up to date.  I have tried downloading the iWork updater v9.1 but when I run it, it tells me that my version of Keynote is newer than the update and then quits.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Office 2004 was written for PowerPC.  To run Office 2004 on an Intel based Mac, you need Rosetta to translate PowerPC instructions to Intel instructions.  OS X Lion no longer includes or supports Rosetta.  As such, any application written for PowerPC no longer work on Lion, including Office 2004.
Office 2008 and Office 2011 were written for Intel.  They'll work just fine on OS X Lion.
To address your problem, you can do one of the following:
    1) Reinstall OS X Snow Leopard from a backup, if you made one.
    2) Upgrade to Office 2011.
    3) You could use a suite of productivity apps that can import Office documents, such as OpenOffice, or Apple's iWorks. There will be some incompatibilities between these applications and Office though.

  • HELP! Can't run Keynote, Numbers and Pages in Mac OS X 10.6.6 Snow Leopard

I just installed iWork 09, but I can't run every program, the message shows:
Keynote cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Keynote works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I tried restarting the Mac and install it again, same message. I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.6 Snow Leopard.
    Please help

I had the very same problem, after upgrading from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6
Nobody could tell me exactly what happened. The only way I could make them work again was formatting the HD and reinstalling Mac OS X 10.6, install the 10.6.6 combo upgrade, and then install iWork 09 again. That should work.
If you are using Time Machine as backup, do not, and I mean, DO NOT reinstall the user from the backup, because it will install the very same OS x 10.6.6 you previously had. Install OS X as I mentioned above, and then use Migration Assistant to recover your files. For the programs, install them again from the installations disks. I know it is a lot of work, but it won't work in any other way, at least it did not for me.

  • How can you run keynote presentations remotely on new MacBookPro with retina display?

I have the new mac book pro with retina display, very nice. I present keynote slide presentations using the Apple remote, the small white one. However, this doesn't work on the new mac book pro. No IR port, I am told.
OK, no IR port, but surely there is another way to run a slide presentation remotely. I mean that is how presentations are conducted. So, who knows of plan B which would allow me to give presentations separated from my computer?
    Thanks

Install Windows either with BootCamp or virtualization software
Otherwise a Mac is not able to run Windows software

  • IWork 06 License

I bought I work for my Macbook about 3 months ago from the apple store as a download. However I just switched to a MBP and I was wondering if I am allowed to re-download the software to my new computer? Thanks

    Catgo,
Tulse's right, but I'm wondering if you're asking about the legality of it. According to the single-user software license, iWork may reside on only one computer at a time. To be in compliance with the license, you would have to erase the version from your old computer before licensing the new one.

  • Linking multiple macs running Keynote

*as a repost as i -by accident- posted this message earlier in the appleworks-forum*
case: we want to create 1 wide screen via projection. Running 3x 1920*1080 using edgeblending to create a picture in 20*5meters.
As a background we want to use 3 macs (minis) running 3 different keynotes (one with the left part, one with the middle and one with the right part of the images)
this is no big challenge until we run into the next situation, we need to be able to change slides. on three macs on the same time... is it possible to configure on machine as host and to have the others as slave, so when on the host machine the slide changes, the others changes as well..........
(or does anyone has an idea with other software??)
    Output needs to be DVI...

    Found this today:
    http://www.keywebx.com/keyshowx
KeyShowX 1.3 for controlling Keynotes/PowerPoints simultaneously on networked macs. Only $10 so worth a try, I guess.
Or maybe a superwide single Keynote and a Matrox TripleHead2Go to feed the three projectors. Depends on what's on the three sections because trying to run multiple movies on one slide doesn't always go smoothly.
I haven't tried the Matrox products yet but I am looking into them for my own widescreen work.

  • Licensing requirements for running SBS 2011 in Hyper-V

I am currently running SBS 2011 that is natively installed on a Dell PowerEdge server. The plan is to add some RAM and then convert the system to a Hyper-V server that would run the SBS operating system as a VM. From a licensing standpoint, I realize I will
need to purchase a copy of Server 2012 R2 Standard in order to run Hyper-V on the server. I believe I would also be licensed to run the SBS operating system as one of the two licensed VMs.
My question is what is the requirement as far as user CALs is concerned? Seeing as my users will continue to access the SBS server, they will never access the Server 2012 box directly. The only purpose for Server 2012 is to provide the Hyper-V host. So am
I bound by the user licensing of the SBS server, or am I required to also purchase user CALs for the Server 2012 platform?
Thanks for any insight on this question...

It is always best to talk with a trained Microsoft licensing specialist when asking about licensing questions.  A license is a legal agreement between you and the license issuer.  Relying on information from a technical forum on the internet would
not stand up in a court of law, and your auditors would not like that.
That said, a Windows Server CAL - Client Access License - covers access to Window Server(s).  Whether you have 1 or 100 Windows Server, the client access license grants the right to access the services.  Yes, they are operating system version specific,
but if you are running only the Hyper-V role in the host installation, no CALs are required for the host.  If you are running other services that the clients are accessing, then you would need to purchase the 2012 CALs.  Again - check with a trained
    Microsoft licensing specialist.
