Is J2SE 5.0 update 6 or 7 DST 2007 compliant?

This website states J2SE 5.0 update 6 or later is compliant:
http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Intl/USDST/
Whereas this website states J2SE 5.0 update 7 and later is compliant with the new DST 2007 rules.
http://java.sun.com/javase/tzupdater_README.html
Does anyone know how to tell if update 6 is compliant? If there's no way to tell, can I use the tzupdater tool against 5.0u6 anyway w/out any bad consequences?

This forum is in support of Java Enterprise System installation questions. You should get better feedback on your question at the Java Installation forum which addresses the Standard Edition of Java:

    Hi All,

I see two options to change it:

I have have concern for daylight saving as according to Note 1251372 there is no standard daylight saving time in brazil .
this note mention daylight saving for  2008/2009 (i,e daylight saving time in Brazil begins on October 19, 2008 and ends on February 15, 2009.) and this note is the latest note available.
what would be daylight saving time in brazil for year 2009/2010? should i need to raise message to SAP asking for any new note applicable to daylight saving?

  • Error while installing J2SE 5.0 update 6

i got the following error msg while installing J2SE 5.0 update 6
Error 1722. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected . contact your support personnel or package vendor.

    And from the Installation Notes:
Choosing an installation path containing characters that are not part of the system code page - On Windows 2000, XP, and 2003, it is possible to name directories using characters that are not part of the system locale's code page. If such a directory is part of the installation path, then error 1722 occurs, and installation is not completed.
To prevent this problem, make sure that the user and system locales are identical, and that the installation path only contains characters that are part of the system locale's code page. User and system locales can be set in the Regional Options or Regional Settings control panel.

  • Clock wasn't updated w/new DST rules.

    Hi,
Today, march 11th, start the new DST (Daylight Savings Time) rules for North America countries and some other places around the world. Apple released the update for it in February 15th <http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/daylightsavingtimeupdatetiger.html> which I downloaded through Software Update on the same week.
Strangely, the 11th arrived and my system clock wasn't updated automatically in accordance to the new rules. I live in the Havana time zone (GMT -05:00) and Cuba also follows the new rules applied by US.
My date & time preferences are set to update automatically using the "Apple Americas/U.S. (time.apple.com)".
I've already looked into this article: <http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n305056> to see if Cuba was also included in the update, but it just mentions "several other regions", not specifying them. I already sent Apple a feedback on this article requesting more information on which regions it updates.
So, can anyone help me on this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    iBook G4 800 MHz 12”   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks Tom for the reply and yes, I do get the correct time when I set to Philadelphia (I used to live there ) for example.
But in another thread, also about DST, a fellow user gave me a hint about my problem. Check this: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4220949#4220949
Also, the new Tiger update (10.4.9) addresses the new DST rules by what I read from the article <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304821> in the "Other section:
Includes the Daylight Savings Time Update (released February 15, 2007) which contains the latest worldwide time zone and Daylight Saving Time (DST) rules as of January 8, 2007.
I'll try to update my Mac and see if it works (because that's not an easy task when using an horrible dial-up connection fo 33.6 Kbps here in Cuba).

  • To update Quicken 2004 to 2007, need Rosetta-capable Intel system. Have 10.6.8

To update Quicken 2004 to 2007, I need a Rosetta-capable Intel system.  I have two Intel-based iMacs: MacBook 10.6.8 and iMac 10.8.3.  Is either of these Rosetta capable?  (I don't understand "Rosetta-capable".)

Although you did not indicate what exactly you needed to do, I thought that I would specify the exact instructions for you and others.
    1)  You need a PowerPC copy of either Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007.  If you do not already have one, you can download a full version of Quicken 2006 PPC from the Intuit website: http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/patching/quicken-2006-manual-updates--mac -/GEN82200.html
    2)  Make MANY backup copies of your Quicken 2004 data file.
    3)    On your MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with Rosetta installed, you would Launch either of these two PPC versions of Quicken and have this version of Quicken open your existing Quicken 2004 data file.  It will automatically update the data file.
    4)  Go to the Intuit website and purchase for $15 their Quicken 2007 for Lion (which also works on Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion):  http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/quicken-2007-osx-lion.jsp
    5)  Launch Quicken 2007 for Lion and open your updated data file.
You are now set to work on either of your Macs; or, as I do, on both of my Macs!
    Good Luck!

I ignored this for sometime but today I lost my patience and decided to fix this nagging problem. The update prevented me from using the shutdown option as then it would download the updates and then fail over and over again.
None of the steps helped however they set me on a path. I uninstalled all unwanted programs but that was not what fixed the issue. I noticed other than Office 2007 I also had installed Word viewer 2007 , Excel viewer, Powerpoint viewer. I uninstalled these
voila!! Windows update said I don't need these updates on which the install was failing, I checked for updates again and the above updates never appeared in the list of updates found.
I thought I will put this out there just incase someone else runs into similar situation as me. Good Luck.

  • J2EE upgrade to accommodate DST 2007 changes

    Hi,
We are running EP 6.0 SP2P4 on J2EE 6.2. When accommodating DST 2007 changes, we found out as per the note 983147:
The 6.20 J2EE Engine is based on JDK 1.3 and is out of support end of 2006. Therefore no fix will be provided for this JDK version. So all customers running on 6.20 J2EE Engine must switch to higher versions before march 2007.
Thus you have to 1) switch to 6.40 and 2)have jdk version 1.4.2_11 or
higher to have the automatic fix of Daylight savings.
HELP! - If you can provide some pointers to any documentation on how to upgrade this, or if there is any workaround, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks!
    Nirmal

    Hello Nirmal,
Please read the upgrade documentation that you can find in the following path:
    http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver 2004 (or SAP Netweaver 2004s) -> Upgrade
And about the minimum JDK version to use, you will find information in the SAP Note below:
       723909 Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0
Inside this note you will find the notes for each Operating System. This notes tell you what is the minimum version to use depending on the Operating System used.

  • J2SE Runtime V5 Update 6 = Blue screen of death.

    Hi,
My Windows XP Home (with SP2) has recently installed the Update 11 as one of the local Admin and started crashing.
So, I started uninstall using "Add Remove Program" to remove Java Update one at a time started from Update 11 to lower number.

How can I gracefully remove Java Update 6 and J2SE? I've tried Safe Mode and didn't work.
I've chkdsk and analysis the disk and both reported fine.
    Thanks.

I think I may have figured it out. I installed the following packages:

    SUNWj3dev
    SUNWj3dmo
    SUNWj3jmp
    SUNWj3man
    SUNWj3rt
This updated the Java Version to the latest version. The recommended patches update did not seem to help, but installing the latest packages above did.

  • J2SE Runtime Environment Updates

Is it okay to remove all of the updates that occurred before the latest release? I have updates through 5, and want to uninstall the first 4.

Thanks. I also have a question about two other packages. I have the Java 2 SDK , SE 1.4.2_06, and the Java 2 Runtime Environment SE 1.4.2_06. I should leave the SDK alone, but uninstall the Java 2 Runtime Environment SE 1.4.2_06? These are in addition to the J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0, Update 7. Since I develop programs, I suppose I should leave the SDK untouched.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot, I have a fourth package (J2SE Development KIt 5.0 Update 5)

  • J2SE Runtime Environment Update 2

This broke my connection to the 5.0 sensors. I experienced crashes of the browser itself. I know this Java version isn't officially supported by Cisco along with the IDS sensors, but for anyone else experiencing this problem, uninstall the update from "add/remove programs" and you should be back to normal.
    -kpruett

Just an FYI: the 5.0(1.1) version is a test version for a 5.0(2) Service Pack, and is not available for customer download.
The 5.0(2) Service Pack is still under development and test, but should be made available fairly soon.
In the meantime you will need to downgrade back to 1.5.0_01 to use IDM with version 5.0(1).
Once 5.0(2) Service Pack is released then you will be able to use IDM with the newer 1.5.0_02 Java.
