if you don't want to program in java dont, noone is forcing you. when java runs it will load up a vm and a library for it. that's the way it is. it may take a little longer then the equiv native app, but that's because the native app's vm and so on is ALREADY loaded (it's the OS).
in summary: deal with it. it's not that bad. there are some very good examples of java desktop apps that work well; azereus being one, i'm sure there are others.

  • Why does my application slow down?

    Hi,
I'm designing a LabVIEW PDA application which has to receive, display and save data. One data is received every 30ms through Bluetooth (the other side is a microcontroller). My problem is that after about 5 secondes the LabVIEW application slows down and my system is not real-time any more. Is it because of the shift registers? I don't have a lot of knowledges in LabVIEW and I hope somebody will be able to guide me toward a solution.
    Thanks in advance

Your image is not good enought to really see what's going on, but nothing seems very efficient from what I recognize.
You don't need the flat 4 frame sequence structure at all. Simply delete the read globals in the fourth frame and use a wire from the value a few frames over. Now execution order is fully determined by dataflow. Delete the sequence.
What's all that song and dance to get a DBL from a string? (looks like "string to byte array...split string...combine...delete from array(?!)...to DBL") I think all you need is a "typecast" and a "to DBL". (I've see that before but it is very hard to comprehend why people use "delete from array" and then only use the "deleted portion" output to get a subset. What's wrong with "index array" or "array subset"????)
You are growing four arrays without bounds, this is very expensive. Do you have any idea how long the arrays will get in the worst case scenario?
you are reading the dt global four times with each iteration. I doubt it will ever change during the loop, so read it once outside the loop and wire it to all users.
Why are you constantly building new waveforms? You might as well just graph the arry direclty and set x0 and dx once with a property node before the loop.
    What determines the loop rate?
Why are you bundling the four arrays into a cluster at the end? Keep the datatype simple! For example you could use a single 2D array.
What is going on in the other frames of the big sequence?
Why on'y ou attach your program, it would be easer to inspect.

  • Upgrade to Yosemite Slowed down computer substantially

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded my MBP (mid-2009) to Yosemite.    I noticed that people have been using EtreCheck to determine what is the root cause of these Yosemite upgrade slowdowns.   My issue is that I am having difficulty interpreting the output file.   Any help and recommendations would be appreciated.

  • Acrord32 slows down computer, graps cpu time.

Acrord32 slows computer, grabs cpu time.
Win XP Pro SP3, Acrobat 11.0.01.36.
(If this is not the correct forum, kindly direct me to where it should be re-posted.)
Every time the cursor floats over a .pdf file in any file manager, acrord32 slows down the computer, hangs the cursor, takes cpu time and makes scrolling jerky. The more .pdf’s in a list, the more jerky as acrord32 opens and closes, again and again. The cursor is not pausing over a .pdf file, no .pdf is being selected, Acrobat is not running. How can this be stopped? I DO NOT have Reader installed.
Acrotray and Acrord32 are NOT loaded in msconfig. They do not appear in task manager UNTIL the cursor floats over a .pdf. After a second or two, acrord32 disappears out of task manager. However, it is obviously lurking because it comes back next time the mouse encounters a .pdf.
    Questions:
    1) how to stop this behavior?
    2) how do these exe/dll’s get loaded when they are not marked to start?
    3) where does acrord32 “lurk,” and how can it be ferreted out?
    This is very annoying.

AcroRd32 is related to Reader, so not sure why you have it if you do not have Reader installed. If no Acrobat product is running, the only process that should be running should be AcroTray that provides the process when printing to the Adobe PDF printer and should not be disabled. Be sure you check the processes list and not the applications. AcroRd32 runs in the background processes when it is running.
I checked on both AA9 and AA XI systems with Windows 7. Neither one had AcroRd32 running.  My guess is you have it installed, even if it does not appear to be.

  • Application slowing down

My application runs fine for about 1-2 hours and then gradually it slows down. I have a jtable which displays records and which dynamically inserts, updates and deletes rows. There are two columns which display timer value. The problem is in displaying the timer. It slows down gradually and after 5-6 hours, it stops updating. How can I rectify this problem?

  • Application slow down

    Hi
    Good day to all.
Problem : my aplication becomes slow... means perform operation very slowly.
I m sending and receiving "sms" in two seperate threads which is running continously until we exit the application.
But my application never stops until the mobile is reboot. When any mesage comes it pops-up in my application.
I don't understand why it slow down.
It can be because I am using many threads in application to perform some task. Or it is because I am not closing the mesage connection... i m using DatagramConnection.
Can anyone knows why it happens .
Please help me to solve this out.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Updates from HP agent ... always runs at start up and slows down computer

HP Pavilion a1222n, Win XP Home
When we first turn on the computer it is slowed down by "Updates from HP agent running"  checked through the task manager.
I would like to disable the automatic running of this and run it when I want to run HP Updates.  I read in another post to go to the Start > All programs> setting > select never which would allow you to chose when to run the HP update agent.  I can not seem to find it on this machine, the post I read was for another model.

    Hi Ron,
    Try the following.
Hold down the Windows key and press R.  Into the Run box, type msconfig and hit enter.  In the System Configuration window, select the Startup tab and remove the tick next to the HP Update agent.  Click Apply and Ok to save the change and then restart the PC for this change to take effect.

Since installing Snow Leopard on my MacBook I am finding some software running slowly e.g Safari (spinningbeach ball) or hanging altogether, as well as problems switching user accounts (system hangs and have to force a restart). I have run Onyx and MacKeeper but still probs. Have installed Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro and IMac without same probs.
    Any thoughts anyone?

MacKeeper is probably responsible for at least part of the slow down.
Check to see how much free space there is on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
For Safari "beachballs", click Safari from the menu bar then click Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, then click Reset.
Safari third party add ons could be responsible for the lag time.
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • PS Elements 6 & 8 Slow Down Computer When Not In Use

I currently use PS Elements 8 on a MacBook Pro using 10.6.2 version of the operating system.
When I haven't been using Elements for perhaps 24 hours, I suddenly will notice that Elements is using an amazing amount of CPU cycles - say from 60% to 80%.  I use MenuMeters, which shows me that something suddenly is using a lot of CPU cycles.  I then switch to the Activity Monitor to see which application is doing this.  It always is Elements.
I've waited to see if the problem will go away, but it usually doesn't.  The only solution I've come up with is to Quit the application, and relaunch it.
What puzzles me is that I will not have been using Elements for a long time - say 24+ hours.  Then, suddenly, the problem occurs.  Because this bogs down the computer - and instantly shows up on MenuMeters.  So this isn't happening in the background, and I don't notice it.  It happens out of the blue.  Because this activity bogs down the computer, I notice it almost instantly.
It's puzzling because applications usually don't wake themselves up and start working vigorously - especially when there are no pictures open.
This happened when I had Elements 6, and continues with Elements 8.  I've been using Elements since I bought version 3 in December 2004.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I've just launched PS Elements more than ten times while holding down on these keys.  Elements launches, but absolutely nothing else happens.
At first, I thought that perhaps this keystroke combination might only work on a Windows computer.  But with your information in hand, I went into the Elements help file, and found that this is indeed the keystroke combination to use on a Mac.  However, this keystroke combination definitely does nothing on my computer.
If you tell me what this preference file is called, or where it is stored on a Mac, I'll delete it manually.

  • Color Key plus RGB curves slowing down computer

Just updated to Premiere CC 7.2.1 and when I use color Key and add RGB curves to a clip my computer shows down to an almost unsuseable level.  Slow is the new normal.

    Hello,
I'm sorry your experiencing this problem. Same question as Jim. Are you on Mac?
We are aware of the performance issues that were introduced in version 7.2 with certain AMD GPU cards.
    We're investigating the problem now.
I know this is not ideal but in the mean time here's a few workarounds:
    - Revert back to 7.1
    - Disable GPU acceleration when using those effects
Here's a list of effects that seem most problematic:
    *Fast Color Corrector
    *RGB Curves
    *ProcAmp
    *Edge Feather
    *Lumetri Looks
These effects do not appear hinder the performance in my testing:
    *All Blurs Effects
    *Three Way Color
    *Crop
    *Garbage Mattes
    *Levels
Again, I apologies the the inconvenience.
    Best,

  • Smart objects slowing down computer

Hi - I'm making animations in PS6 extended using timeline.
Some of the files are a bit hefty - 5 or 6 smart object files deep -  and are making the computer go really slow [I have 8GB RAM and 1067Mhz].
I wondered if it might be caused by too many bits of info going backwards and forwards in the engine room ... and a defrag is necessary....??
I understand that the Mac only defrags files up to 10MB ... so these 60+MB files will be left out.
It starts to seize up after I've been working on a files ... going down into the deeper and deeper smart objects [eg a body with smart object arms going to smart hands going to smart fingers, etc]
Do you think I need to get a defrag program for this or would there be a cache somewhere which I can empty when the going gets rough, perhaps?
I don't have much else running at the time, by the way.
    Many thanks
    john

    Hi,
mdimport is caused by Spotlight indexing. Do you have any external hard drive connected to your computer? If so, Spotlight is probably indexing it. If you don't want to look up files in your external hard drive using Spotlight, you can go to System Preferences->Spotlight and in the Privacy tab add the external drive. Or, you can wait until Spotlight indexes all the files, cpu usage by mdimport will eventually reduce.

  • Maverick update slowing down computer

    Hey,
I installed the Maverick update on my mac book pro (2012) about a week ago and since then the computer has felt pretty slow. Just clicking around or opening apps seem to be much slower then it used to be and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with what to do next. I havent tried reinstalling it or anything but after reading around a bit it seems like posting my Etresoft report is the first step so here is mine.

I have any older 2010 i Mac and was having the same problem. Lots of spinning beach balls everytime I opened somethng and especially when I logged onto my machine. I found a solution from OSXDaily. Here's the link, www.osxdaily.com/2013/11/13/fix-finder-slow-high-cpu-use-mac-os-x/. In fact, I think this solution may have come from the Apple Support Community originally. At any rate, it worked great. No more slow opens or beach balls when I log on.  I used this workaround with 10.9.1 and then had to again with 10.9.2, so any updates appear to return it to the original Mavericks bugginess. Hope this helps.

  • Connecting to remote server slows down computer

We've been connecting to a remote server for years, and only recently have this problem:
When connected to a remote server, the entire system runs sluggish. This only happens with one remote server -- other connections don't cause this problem. The system is slow even if we are not reading or writing -- just the connection seems to cause the slowdown.
    What could be causing this?

You need to enable WinRM on your system. Open powershell on the system you want to connect to remotely and enable it by typing:
    C:>enable-psremoting -force
WinRM already is set up to receive requests on this machine.
WinRM has been updated for remote management.
Created a WinRM listener on HTTP://* to accept WS-Man requests to any IP on this machine.
This will configure WinRM for you. Check out this technet powershell training session.
