Is JDeveloper any good for PLSQL editing?

Hi,
been using JDeveloper 10.3.1 for db modelling and its very nice (posted a couple of bugs last week and they have been ignored).
Was thinking about using it for PLSQL development but i was disappointe4d to find the templates for packages was incorrect (bug posted) and there's no code formatting.
Is my expectations too high for JDeveloper to be the main db IDE? Swithcing back to PLSQL Developer I think.
Cheers
Rakesh

Hi,
have you heard of Project Raptor? Its a PLSQL programming environment that uses JDeveloper as its shelf. This tool may become what you are looking or and sooner or later also work within JDeveloper itself.

  • CS5 MPE - any benefit for SD editing?

I do ONLY home video SD editing to create family DVD output... NO hi-def and no h.264 codecs
Since the nVidia 285 card is about $400 and a good ATI card w/1Gig (to use with Photoshop) is about $100... does anyone know if the new MPE module in CS5 will have any benefit for SD editing and output?

  • 24" iMac any good for games (compared to Mac Pro)

    Hi,
I'm on my second Mac Pro and after no end of trouble so i'm hoping to exchange it for a 24" imac but i was wondering if it's any good for games?
I would probably configure it with the 7600gt and maybe the 2.33ghz proccessor.
My mac pro with the x1900xt ran Quake 4 and Doom3 etc at full stettings really well but i've just had to much trouble with it!

The iMac would be fine for games for now, but you are stuck with the configuration that you purchase as there is no way (for now) to upgrade the video card.
There is a thought that some OEMs might make an upgrade card, but as of now there are none.
The big advantage of the Mac Pro is that it has the PCI-express video card that you can remove the stock card from and add a newer, better card.

  • Is TechTool Pro any good for Mavericks 10.9.3 ? Pros & Cons ?

Is  TechTool Pro any good for Mavericks 10.9.3 ? Does anyone use it ? Any speed increase? Any problems ? What's the pros & cons for using the software?
Please share your experience if you use it or have used it with Mavericks 10.9.3...

All such products are either worthless or outright scams. Avoid them. TTP is frequently cited as the cause of various problems reported on this site.
Use your Mac the way it was designed to be used - without burdening it with useless garbage.

  • Comic Life?  Any good for photos?

Found this on my iMac and I wondered if it's any good for making photo montages?
I use an online lab for photos so wondered if the files it creates would be good enough for uploading for poster prints (some up to 30"x20")?
    Any users know?

No, Comic Life is only good for making comics, it can't make any montages. As of today I deleted it, seeing as I won't make any comics on it. Also, it can't make poster prints because of the way the printing would turn out (think a lot of colored dots with no real picture).
So in short, deleting it would not harm anything, nor hinder anything. Just save up some space.

  • Is Virus Barrier x6 any good for virus protection/

Is Virus barrier x6 any good for virus protection?

I have never used it personally.  I have seen people here having kernel panics, and removing VB cured the problem.  But then, that's not good data, because I don't know how many people might be using it with no problems, and why those kernel panics might be occurring.

  • WD My Book Studio Edition II - any good for Time Machine?

    Hello all,
A quick question regarding the Western Digital *My Book Studio Edition II*. Is it any good as a Time Machine drive?
Our 1.5TB Maxtor OneTouch™ III Turbo Edition is loud, but runs problem free for Time Machine. So far all our Maxtor drives have been reliable. But the price for the WD is almost a third of the Maxtor, so time for a change...
Amazon users say it has FireWire related issues. Has anyone else had these problems? Would love to know as the price seems very good.

Appreciate any and all help. Thanks in advance.
    Jim.

    This is what I have:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MEFW934AL2/
And in it I put two 640 Caviars. Software from OWC allows me to separate the two drives if that's what I wish. I did at first but then went back to their set up and just partitioned down the middle, one for cloning, one for TM. Works pretty well. The software allows one to create a Mirrored Raid also.
I have another back up clone so I'm not worried about losing a drive in the set up. Besides, in almost 20 years I've never had an HD fail. And in regard to the OPs first choice, the My Book, which personally would you rather see go? The one entire My Book unit, or a single $80 HD in an enclosure?
Drobo... impressive and very expensive, was that the point of mentioning it? We're talking about Time Machine here.

  • Is there any documentation for Digital Editions?

    I have several questions.
    1) Is there any searchable local documentation for Digital Editions? The only thing I can find is at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/help/ and that is of no help because it is not available when there is no Internet connection and it cannot be searched.
    2) Is there any way to enable a CUA compliant menu bar in Digital Editions? With no menus and no help I have been completely unable to figure out how to use the program.
Any help  would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bentley beat me to it :)

  • PSE 6 Classroom in a book any good for PSE 10?

I have just bought PSE 10 and am looking for a book to teach myself how to use it. A friend has PSE Classroom in a Book but for PSE 6. Will this book be any good or has PSE changed so much since version 6 - or introduced new things - that the book won't really be suitable?
If this particular book won't be any good, does anybody have any recommendations? I like the Classroom in a Book style but am willing to try anything!
I am using Windows 7 and have only limited experience of any photoediting software.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
    Sid

I am not familiar with Classroom in a Book.
I recommend Barbara Brundage's book: The Missing Manual to you. It is well written and illustrated.

  • Is Man mini any good for gaming?

    Hi everyone !
I'm planning to buy a 2014 Mac mini (16gb, corei7). But i'm not sure if it's good for hardcore gaming (GTA V, Battlefield 4...) because of the graphics (Intel Iris Graphics). I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me if I can run good games without any problems.

tons of people play minecraft on the Air, yes.
Is the Air an idealized gaming machine?  NO

  • Logic synths any good for producing ambient/meditative/spacescape sounds?

    Hi
I'm thinking of switching from a PC/Cubase to Mac/Logic Studio. However there are loads and loads of smaller synths/vsts that only run on the PC.
Are the synths in Logic Studio any good at producing ambient/meditation/spacescape/atmospheric types sounds?(or does anybody know of any VSTs that are? Atmosphere is a bit pricey and I already have Absynth).
The sort of sounds I'm interested in are by synths such as these:

Hi, I have to say I'm not familiar with parallels or fusion (I'll check them out though thanks). But it sounds interesting. I have held off installing windows on my mac because I want to become familiar with OSX before I get involved(if ever). I have tried running logic 8 and cubase 4 together and that was interesting. Mainly because the atmosphere plugin (which runs on a wrapper basis under logic / intel at the moment) actually worked within cubase 4 on my intel mac(as the old vst which did not use rosseta(I think?), and quite well. The problem I had was I could play atmosphere from within logic, in cubase with my virus ti as a controller but it would not play back after recording, but that was because the ti was setup in both progs as the midi input! I was amazed it actually worked to some degree. It really boils down to what it is you want to achieve I suppose. I have spent most of this year waiting for software updates so I can a) get stuff fully working on the intel mac platform, and of course, being the fool that I am, b) waiting for updates so they could once again work with leopard! When I think back to the days of me, my atari and my akai sampler, I used to get stuff done! Now i just seem to be looking for updates all the time.... No excuses though, they were my decisions! Ah well, it's all good fun I suppose. Not much help i'm afraid....Cheers.
