Is JSF 1.0 redistributable for commercial apps

We need to write a JSF app and plan to use JSF 1.0 but it says they are sun licensed binaries. So do we need some licensing or can we just use them and redistribute them? Please suggest.
Thanks

You can.

  • Spry 1.6 for commercial use

Hi, Can I use the Spry 1.6 prerelease for commercial use?
    Spry seems like
    The BSD
    license.
    However,
    the adobe labs
    license claims
    quote:
IF THE SOFTWARE IS A PRE-RELEASE VERSION, then,
notwithstanding anything to the contrary included within a license
agreement accompanying the software, you are not permitted to use
or otherwise rely on the software for any commercial or production
    purpose.
Does that means you cannot use Spry 1.6 for commercial use?
If so, can I get the non-prerelease older version (1.5 etc) from
    somewhere?

    Hi,
    That is a little confusing.
We have been distributing Spry under the BSD license, meaning
to allow users to use the files as they please, commercial or
    otherwise.
This is how it has been since the first version.
I can look into the disparity between these licenses but i
think you can feel assured that it is ok to use Spry for commercial
apps. Many people do so already.
The Spry team thinks of 'pre-release' as: "There is a small
chance that we might change functionality, due to bugs or better
implementation" but we are pretty stable now and the core ideas of
    Spry are pretty solid.
    Hope this helps,

  • Looking for a APP

I saw a TV commercial tonight where someone traveling in Italy says "My father (dad) grew up in this town"
And the iPhone says the sentence in Italian to senior citizen in the town.
Looking for an APP where I speak the sentence and the iPhone then translates.... Any ideas?
In the same commercial he points the phone at store fronts and looks at the screen to see the translations - any ideas for this APP?
I've been on the computer researching for hours and can't find anything.
    TIA

Thanks so much to everyone - I found it and love it!

  • One commercial app on several iPads

    Hi everyone,
I would like to know your point of view in order to deploy a commercial app (from app store) on about thirty iPad.
The problematics is : How can I deploy an app and deploy it on 30 iPad ? Do I need to purchase 30 apps ?
    I studied two cases :
    First case :
    - All users (iPad users) create an Itunes account, and each log on the ipads.
    - We create an Itunes account for the enterprise, and gift the app to users (sending by email)
In this case, we have to create 30 mailboxes (ie gmail), users have to create Itunes account. It seems to be an heavy solution.
    Second case :
    - We create an Itunes account for the enterprise and log on with this account on all the ipads.
    - We purchase the app by Itunes, and sync all iPads with it.
    - With IPCU, we create a configuration profile so that we turn off the "allow installing apps".
For this second case, can we buy once time the app and syncing then on all iPads ?
So what do you think about these 2 cases ? Is there another solution in order to deploy commercials apps to several iPads with a centralized order ?
    Thanks for answers,
    Regards

    Hey,
First, given I am trying to find an answer to this question, I truly appreciate this post and the responses thus far. Apple for some reason has failed to provide clear guidance for a growing enterprise population wanting to purchase multiple iPads and multiple pieces of software. I would think Apple should take note because enterprises tend to have deep pockets and are willing to pay for software, if Apple only had a clear commercial based volume license way to acquire the software from the App Store. OK, obligatory rant has ended.
Second, in an attempt to research an answer, I found the below websites. They provide some of the best instructions on how to purchase applications multiple times and deploy them on multiple iPads.
    https://support.assistiveware.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=53
    https://support.assistiveware.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=51
Third, to answer the question, from my own experience, I can say if a user attempts to sync an iPad with another account, it will delete all content attached to the account previously on the iPad. Thus it would delete the app. You could restore it by basically doing the same thing with your own account you create for business purposes.
Your best option is to inform users to not sync their iPads at home should they want to keep their business profile. If you want your users to be able to sync via their personal account, then either you can gift the app to their personal account or inform them they have to purchase the business app on their own if they want this privilege.

  • Font licensing for Air apps for iOS and Android

    Hi all,
I'm trying to shift into the app design world after leaving academia and I'm currently working on a couple of 'portfolio' apps for some friends of mine. One thing I'm completely confused upon is Font Licensing and I'm really hoping someone can clear this up for me. From what I've seen on the net, it seems that a lot of people just use fonts and don't bother with any licensing. I've always thought that if the font is there to choose from in Flash/Photoshop etc then you can use it for whatever you want without concern - but I've never released anything to the 'public'. This doesn't seem to be the case though and from what I've seen, Font sellers expect thousands per year to use their fonts. Do all of those developers of free or low cost apps on the app store really pay tens of thousands of dollars each year for font licenses? How can they afford to?
I just want to use some nice looking fonts for some things and as a newbie to the app development world, I can't afford to pay crazy amounts for fonts. How should I limit my font choice and how do I know which fonts I can use? Also, I got an email recently about 'Adobe Typekit' soon being included in my Adobe CC subscription with access to thousands of fonts. What does this mean? There are loads of fonts on the Typekit website, does my CC subscription mean I can use any of those fonts to my heart's content or is it just some syncing thing?
I'd really appreciate some info on this as I'm completely confused and any discussions I've found about font licenses seem to be by people who either don't give a crap and use whatever fonts they find without paying a dime or people that have been using paid fonts for decades and 'just know' how everything works and so don't talk about it.

you can use any legally obtained adobe fonts for your commercial apps and you do not need a royalty or licensing fee.
with typekit fonts, you are restricted to using them only while your subscription continues.

  • Flex and commercial apps?

Hi everyone. I have a simple question:
is it possibile to use the free Flex SDK to develop a commercial application or any generic application that could lead to money income? I know this is probably stated in the license but english is not my native language and I'm not good with licensing terms, so I can't understand if I can develop and distribute such application or if I have to buy some particular Adobe license/subscription to develop commercial apps. I stress the fact that using the  "commercial" word I mean a generic app that could make me gain some money, including for example a free app with a Donate button, other than the classic sellable product.
I hope someone can give me a reliable answer
    Have a nice day
    C. PG.

In short; yes, knock yourself out!
In a slightly longer answer.  We live in a sue happy world and Adobe employees are generally not allowed to comment on, or discuss intricate meanings of current licensing terms.  So, they can't tell you what the license means, but they'll sure sue you if they think you're in violation.
At the end of the day, it is your responsibility to discuss your intended use with your legal counsel to decide if your use is permitted.

  • Use iMovie on iOS for Commercial Use

I am a real estate agent who wants to use the iOS version of imovie for home tours and publish them on my website. This would be consider commercial use and just wanted to konw if I will run into any trouble if I use iOS imovie in this manner. I did read over the licese and it seems I am not allowed to use any Audio content. But I just wondered if you are allowed to use the program to edit and for its texts and transitions for commercial purposes. I can always use the royal free music youtube provides for the music, but just wanted to see if I was ok with using it to create for commercial movies and clips...Thanks

    Welcome to the club.  :-)
The iPad is not as powerful as a Mac, and they cannot share software, as they have different operating systems.
There are two versions of iMovie available, one for Macs and an app for iPads. Their capabilities are different.  Do your research. :-)

  • Creative Cloud subscription for commercial use?

    I cant seem to find a straight answer to my question of;
I am able to subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud (Australia) for commercial use?
    Thanks
    Ashly

Yes, you can use the apps for the commercial purpose.
The EULA remians the same for the Adobe applications even if they are the part of the creative cloud , you use the software like you were use to do earlier.

  • Using system fonts for commercial printing?

    Hi,
Does anyone know the licensing rights/usage for using system fonts for commercial printing? If I understand correctly, system fonts that comes from operating system CAN be use because Apple purchase the rights on them and end users that purchase OS can use these fonts freely as long as not we are not redistributing them for profit, etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with official documentation on the subject?
    Thanks!

Never mind, I found the answer. It's in Apple's OS EULA.
"E. Fonts. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, you may use the fonts included
with the Apple Software to display and print content while running the Apple Software; however,
you may only embed fonts in content if that is permitted by the embedding restrictions
accompanying the font in question. These embedding restrictions can be found in the Font
    Book/Preview/Show Font Info panel."

  • RI License for Commercial Applications

    HI!
Which license does RI uses? I can't find consistent information anywhere. At the end of the day, can I use Sun RI for production commercial software for free? Even If I use it outside Java Studio Creator? What do I need to do?

License wise, you can deploy the application to any application server you want. Only the ones listed at http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/features/sysreqs/depservers.html are officially supported, however some others do work.
As for using a copy of the application server for deployment without Creator, this is actually the preferred method. Creator will start and stop your app server at times, which would not be good for a production environment. You should download the stand alone (and free) version of Sun Java System Application Server 8.2 Platform Edition at http://www.sun.com/software/products/appsrvr/previous/pe8/index.xml. And yes, you can use it for commercial applications.

  • Commercial App using Adobe Air S

    Hello,
I have completed building an entire commercial app using
adobe air using html+ajax. Now when I decided to make the .air file
and install it on various computers, I realised that the entire
code (html+ajax+images) is available in plainsight to the users in
    their program files directory.
Can someone please tell me a solution? Should I obfuscate the
code? What options do I really have? Please help.
    Thank you.

While this might not bee too comfortable, you could try to
create a browser Flex app, which you use a a container for HTML/JS
    data container.
Your app calls the Flex app for various parts. Within the
Flex container you need to store and somehow encrypt all resources.
For sure, the actual code in the browser will be visible -
but probably not for each and any user.
Not an ideal solution, but at least an option.
    Additionally google for 'JavaScript obfuscator':
    http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=de-de&q=javascript+obfuscator&ie=UTF-8&oe=U TF-8
Additionally, have a look at my
    previous
    post regarding Flex/AIR obfuscators

  • My iphone wont let me download apps and is telling me to put in credit card stuff for free apps help me

my iphone wont let me download apps and is telling me to put in credit card stuff for free apps help me

You can create a new Apple ID without using a credit card for download free apps by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534.  Follow it exactly as writtien.  Note that you have to download and try to install a free app and then create the ID.

  • I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.

I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.
I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet.  My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses.  I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work.  However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account.  Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses.  Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.
