Thanks, while it worked on yours it doesn't work on mine, any other ideas?
Are you holding down the "d" key, all by itself, just after the system shuts down for a restart?
And how long did you hold it down?
I held mine down for about 40-50 seconds. Then I lookat at my routers WAN light and it was flickering so I let up on the d key.
If that does not work then maybe there is something wrong with your MBP. Is that the reason you want to run this test, something isn't right with your unit?

What model TC is this? How old and on what firmware?
Do a full factory reset of the TC.. they do not like a change of setup.
Remember changes to router require a power down of the modem for long periods.. maybe 30min maybe longer.

  • Camcorder compatibility w/ Mac

I've read conflicting info about camcorder compatibility with macs. Some say that using a firewall there is no issue uploading from any brand of minidvd camcorders. Others say this is not true, swear up and down that there are compatibility problems w/ Canon models vs. other brands. I want to purchase a Canon ZR900, ZR930 or ZR950 as these have had good reviews but am reluctant to do so until this question is answered.
    Thank you!

The firewall in Mac OS X has absolutely no bearing on camcorder compatibility. The camcorder does not use the network.
With regard to mini-DVD camcorders, they record their video in MPEG2 format, which suffers two problems: 1.) it's a highly-compressed lossy format that's really poor for editing (the video they shoot is not intended to be edited, only played back as is); 2.) recompressing the MPEG2 to create a new movie makes things worse.
Since you're asking about the Canon ZR series, and they are MiniDV and not mini-DVD camcorders, that may not be important to you.
Canon models don't have any particular problems. It's true that they use what OS X calls the FireWire basic profile (IEEE-1394 raw video) rather than IEEE-1394 DV, but the problem there is only that the OS X FireWire driver drops frames (rare, but it happens) sometimes with the basic profile. You generally won't notice, but it can be annoying (you can run Linux on your Mac and it works just fine, it's not a hardware issue). Just make sure that if you use Final Cut you turn off the option to terminate if a frame is lost (and there's a bug in FC where a dropped frame causes it to lose VTR control of the camcorder).
That said I have a Canon ZR mini-DV camcorder (ZR500 -- standard definition), and it's a nice little camera. It's performance in low-light is not all that great, but in well-lit situations the video is quite good. Were I to buy a new camcorder, I'd go with a high-definition model that does 1080i, even if I were outputting to DVD because the sharpness of the video pops even there. However, though I am fond of the MiniDV cassettes as a backup medium, there's some huge advantages to SD and HD storage for camcorders (for example, no low-frequency hum from the DV tape mechanism), but AVCHD is really tough (takes a lot out of your computer) to work with.

  • I have an ipod touch second gen, how can i download the facebook app if it says its not compatable with my current iOS?

i have an ipod touch second gen, how can i download the facebook app if it says its not compatable with my current iOS?
i had the facebook app but i could never upgrade it and i was ok with using the outdated version but when i reset the ipod so i could gift it to a friend it obviously got rid of the app and now i cant downloaded because it says its not compatable, how can i download the version i had before i reset it?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • I would like to find a link where I could download the last nightly build for firefox 6 for windows x64. Need it for extension compatibility. Thanks.

Just need a link where I can find the most recent x64 Windows Firefox 6.0 build. I need it for compatibility with Evernote Clipper extension. I previously ran 6.0 but did not keep the installation file.
The latest version of Evernote Clipper supports Firefox 5 and 6, but not 7 or above.

The Mophie Air is a good battery case, but doesn't offer the protection she's looking for. I suggest sticking to the Lifeproof, the iPhone has a very good battery (2-3 days moderate usage for me).
To your 2nd to last paragraph, that is false. Verizon is allowing exisiting customers to keep Unlimited Data - but will lose it once they use a subsidized upgrade. So if you buy a 4S (or LTE device for example) outright, you will keep unlimited data. Mobile hotspot may use up a bit of data, but it is a separate add-on/feature. The new Family Share plans may change that, so it's one giant center of data all devices use.

  • Best setting for compressor-JVC Everio Hard Disc Camcorder Quicktime file?

    Hi,
I am still having trouble figuring out why compressor is taking so long. Maybe I need to call Apple Support. I tried the web source setting-medium quality, but it is still taking 4+ hours, and continues to increase in length till completion. It is imported from fcp quicktime movie. What is the best setting to use ?#Agghh this is frustrating. I only want to upload this onto a file share web data base system, I don't even need to burn it to a DVD. Should I choose the H 2.6.. for iPod, the web source setting, or something else? These are just 1 hour/ 1 1/2 hour movies that fit on a 4.7 GB DVD before I imported them into fcp>now the fcp file has expanded up to 69GB. What is the deal? I re-installed fc studio. Any suggestions?

If a file from a DVD is now 69 GB then it must have been converted along the way from the original DVD.
How are you importing? What are the specs of the file? What is your work flow process?

  • Is Firefox 3.6.18 compatable with MAC OSX 10.4.11

Firefox 3.6.18 crashes with an error message "unresolved kernel trap......." on a MAC desktop with OSX 10.4.11. Could this be as simple as a compatibility issue? I am asking this question for a friend who is not very computer literate. At this point, I do not have access to her computer - nor do I have the complete error message. But I understand that it is lengthy.

Yes, 3.6.x should run on MacOSX 10.4. ([http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.6/system-requirements/ Mozilla Firefox 3.6 System Requirements])
Does it crash right after opening? Perhaps this article will assist in troubleshooting: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes Firefox crashes | Troubleshooting | Firefox Help].

  • Firefox accelerated release schedule is causing compatibility problems with our intranet applications - where can I find the plan of this schedule including support termination dates?

We are a university use an in-house developed e-Learning application which makes use of a rich-client framework (ZK - www.zkoss.org). For reasons of compatibility with this application, as well as other general factors, we have standardized on FF 3.6 as the browser for all our desktops. We normally review our browser selection once per year and make compatibility changes/upgrades to the 3rd-party libraries we use, and our own code, in order to keep up with new developments in the browser market.
However FF's new release policy makes our life verify difficult. FF 6 came out only a few months after FF 5. For us to perform an upgrade we have to perform a systematic series of tests, adjustments, changes to regression tests etc. Due to the cost is not feasible for us to do this every 3 months! Therefore please can someone point us to a clear release plan for FF which shows, for each version:
    a. Release date
    b. End-of-support date
    c. Release notes
    d. Compatibility in terms of HTML and Javascript/ECMAScript versions.

    https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar <br />
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Releases
New versions are going to be released every '''6 weeks''', so until Mozilla announces what they are going to do as far as support for an LTS version for enterprise "customers", you guys are left swinging in the breeze as far as being able to plan for the future with Firefox. I think that until that decision is made, support for Firefox 3.6 versions will continue. A 3.6.22 release is being worked on right now, probably for release this coming week.
As far as support termination dates, as each new version is released support ends for the previous version, except for 3.6.x. Currently Firefox 3.6.x and 6.0.x are the only versions which are getting security updates. Firefox 4.0 and 5.0 aren't "supported" any longer.
