Is Keynote as functional on the iPad?

How functional is Keynote on the iPad?  What features do I lose if I'm trying to develop a presentation on Keynote via the iPad?
Thanks,

You will probably get a quicker response on the forum dedicated to iWorks for iPad.

  • Where can I find the SSL function on the iPad mail - having trouble with AOL sending e-mail out

Where can I find the SSl function on the iPad mail - I am having trouble sending out e-mails on my AOL account on the iPad - no trouble with the MacBook Pro?

Under the line where it has the SSL button, is Authintication set to password?  and the line below that, is there a server port number?  A typical outgoing server port number is 25.

  • Why the difference in the Photos app functionality between the iPad 2 and iPhone 4?

Photo Stream works well on my iPad 2. For whatever reason, iPad 2 has more functionality in the iOS 5 "Photos" app than the iPhone 4. This may be because my iPad is 64GB and the iPhone is 32GB. Nevertheless, the iPad has the following folders in the Photos app (the first four of which match OSX iPhoto on the Mac in numbers of photos; only the order of matches in the Photo Stream folder; the last folder is not in iPhoto, or is not readily displayed there as far as I can tell):
"Photos" - corresponding to the Photos folder in iPhoto Library (not in the same order)
"Photo Stream" - virtually identical to Photo Stream in iPhoto
"Albums" - same as in iPhoto, including "Last 12 Months" and "Last Import"
"Events" - about one quarter the number of Events (groupings of photos) as are listed in iPhoto
"Places" - not displayed in iPhoto, as far as I can tell
The Photos app in the iPhone only lists "Albums," starting with Camera Roll and Photo Stream, with the option of adding more albums (no option to delete) - but not like the Albums that are displayed on the iPad.
What accounts for this difference between iPad and iPhone?

    Thanks for the report.

  • IPod repeat one function on the iPad is broken

I have found that most of the time, the repeat one function when using the iPod function on my ipad just doesn't work. I know where the setting is (on the now playing page), and I select the little circle of two arrows with the 1 on it... and when it gets to the end of the song it goes right on to the next one- usually. Sometimes it works, I don't know why. I don't understand how hey screwed that up; it works just fine on my iPhone and every ipod I own.

same here with iPad1 on 4.3.3.. quite annoying when you want one special song looping (e.g. as gaming background) - need to wait for the jump to the next song, jump back one manually, and then the loop works.
I'll be experimenting around a bit to see whether it might depend on the song (file format, bought/ripped...), the issue seems too rare, at least Google turns up only a few hits, compared to other ipod bugs.

  • Why must I lock myself into a particular cellular carrier just to get the GPS function in the iPad Air.

I would like to have an iPad Air 128GB, but I'm being told I must lock myself into a cellular carrier in order to get the GPS feature.  I don't mind picking a carrier, but I don't want to be locked in.  I use Verizon now, but suppose I want to change to AT&T or TMobile in the future.

GPS works without a cellular plan.
Map programs such as Apple maps or google require a data connection to download map data.
Other programs such as copilot or tomtom download map data all at once after you purchase them and will not require further connection to the data connection.
The cellular version of the iPad has gps because it is part of the cellular radio chip.

  • HT5067 When using a Keynote Widget with iBooks Author, do the transitions and builds between Keynote slides appear in the iPad preview version of the iBook, or only in the finished product?

I'm using the Keynote Widget in iBooks Author, and the Keynote presentation uses the Magic move transition between slides.  When I preview the iBook on a new iPad, the Magic move transitions don't show up (i.e. the transition from slide to slide is standard, not Magic move).  Any suggestions?

Hyperlinks and magic move should work but don't. However I  found the following as a workaround for me. Use three slides instead of two to generate the magic move effect in Keynote presentations on Ibooks using hyperlinks only. As an example
Supose an object on  slide 1 was set as a hyperlink to go to a slide which then had a magic move effect to a third slide. For some reason it works on the mac, but not on ibooks. However you can create the magic move transition effect by simply adding a "dummy slide" as follows.  Suppose an object on slide 1 had an object which would hyperlink to slide 4. Duplicate Slide 4, and make the duplicate slide 5. Then set Slide 4  to automatically transition (with no effect) to the next slide (i.e. slide 5) after .5 seconds. Have Slide 5 set to transition to Slide 6 using magic move automatically after .5 seconds. By having the hyperlink point to slide 4 the magic move effect from Slide 5 to Slide 6 works fine (with a brief 1 sec delay). IF the hyperlink pointed directly to Slide 5, the magic move transition to slide 6 would not work.
For some reason having an extra slide makes magic move work even though it is not needed on the mac. I hpe this helps.

  • Any way to add fonts to Keynote or Pages on the iPad?

Are we stuck with the limited fonts in the apps or can more be added? Can't find any info on that. Imported a Keynote file from my Mac and it changed the font, made it look quite different.
Anyone know anything about this yet?
    Thanks.

I haven't heard of any way to add fonts to iWork for iPad, and the article Keynote for iPad: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) (What do I need to know about fonts?) confirms what you are seeing. It doesn't mention how to add fonts.

  • Why the bluetooth function on the iPad (4th Gen) doesn't work well to pair either with my PC (Windows7) or iPhone4 running on iOS7 ?

Why is it that my iPad(4th Gen) doesn't pair either with PC ( Windows7) or iPhone4 (running iOS7)?
The search for the devices on turning Bluetooth is eternal and the activity ring keeps swirling for ever to leave frustrated.

I'm sorry but Bluetooth on iPad/iPhone doesn't work as you'd expect it too, particularly if you've used Nokia or other brands in the past.  Bluetooth on iPad/iPhone will only allow you to add other devices such as keyboards or headsets.

  • HT201406 Can screenprotectors affect touchscreen functionality on the iPad 4th gen?

I have a brand new iPad 4th gen and had a Zagg Invisishield screen protector put onto it.  I want to know if that can cause touchscreen issues.  I have found there are dead spots on the touchscreen and also at times, phantom touching happening as well.  I don't want to remove the screen protector until I know for sure because it was a little pricey.

I am having the same problems with some apps.  Ice Age Village does not work now with Ipad 4.

  • Can apps on the iPad 2 only be used when wifi or 3G is available?

Probably a very stupid question but I am wanting to know if you can only access applications if you are in an environment that offers wifi, or if you have to have 3g to work applications in places that don't offer wifi. I am looking to get an iPad 2, but want to be sure I can use my applications pretty much where ever I want. I mostly want to be able to access books, facetime and things like that.
Also curious if there is some type of list that I can look at to see which apps work without an internet connection. If there is such a thing, where can I find it?
    Thx

For the most part, productivity apps will work without an Internet connection - word processing apps, spreadsheets, presentations - some may not have all of the bells and whistles that the apps offer - - but you can stil get a lot of work done with these types of apps - and you can add the bells and whistle items later.
FaceTime only works with WiFi so that answers that - texting apps, video chat apps - all need an Internet connection of some type.
Once you completely download movies or books, they can be be viewed and read offline.
Really - the iPad is very much like a computer in this regard - if you can do something on your PC without an Internet connection - if there is an app or a similar function on the iPad - chances are very good that it will not need the internet either.

  • Why does the iPad AppStore not show sub categories ?

I always search around on my iPhone and come across a new app but on the iPad you can only see featured apps, is there a reason why it is like this, why we can't browse apps like on the iPhone.

Dude why do you have to be a nub? You know what he means. Don't suggest using your computer to search. That is ignorant. The whole point in getting a iPad is to replace using a computer for easy day to day usage. Especially in this case. Searching the iPad app store is a joke. I been messing around with this thing for a hour trying to do stuff that takes seconds on my iPhone. There is they key statement. iPhone! Can you say iPhone? The iPhone has a superior search function to the iPad. There is absolutely positively no reason get go sit at my computer to search apps when I can do everything I want from the comfort of my bed on my iPhone at night. So apple got it right on the iPhone but dropped the ball on the iPad app store. Sure I can search from my iPhone but I want to search iPad specific apps in the RPG games category. Is that to much to ask? The iPhone already does it so don't say goto your computer. I have bought a ton of games I didn't even know I wanted by searching sub categories on my iPhone. I'd like to think this was a oversight that will be fixed but looking at older post it seems this has been the case for awhile, so it leads me to believe there is some evil pay apple to get yours apps featured thing going on.
