Is keynote completely compatible with PowerPoint?

I was wondering if the design and effects from keynote would work good with microsoft office 2007? I want to know because I want to make a presentation on the keynote app, but I need it to be able to play on PowerPoint but still work well.

Keynote for iPad can export the presentations you compose on the device into PowerPoint friendly format. You can then access these files through itunes file sharing, or you can e-mail them in .ppt
You may notice that some transitions will be removed, so I recommend sticking to something like a fade, and some fonts may be changed, although they will be changed to similar looking ones!

Keynote can import and export Powerpoint files.
There are a number of issues that you should be aware of if you want to transtere between the two applications; fonts, animations (builds), transitions and themes not available to keynote wont import or export.
If you want to operate a fail safe presentation, continue to use use PowerPoint and use Keynote for stand alone presentations.

I do not have an answer, but I experienced the same problem yesterday, 11/11. I also recently upgraded to 10.6 and have been using iWork '09 and Keynote 5.0.3. I have had zero problems opening any of my Keynote files until yesterday. Two files were either unable to open or if opened would not display/play properly. Actually I was able to open one presentation but when I clicked on a certain slide the error message appeared, the one about the SFWordProcessing plugin, and the program quit. I re-opened, dragged the "good" slides to a new presentation document and re-fashinoned another slide. I had to completely start over on the other - even the backup would not load.
Also I notice that in "Letter Press", if I select italic, (from the keyboard or the format menu) the entire set of bullets displays vertically, only one letter wide! This may be the case across the board, I don't know.

Flash is not compatible with powerpoint despite claims it is.

It is claimed that swf plays in powerpoint, it doesn't ! The workarounds to this problem are taking many hours with no solution yet.
We have three swf files, car animations, place them into Powerpoint using the Shockwave Flash Object method, address to file into the properties window, then play the slide show. First slide plays ok, next slide is showing the end of the animation, as is the next.
I gather from others that swf and powerpoint is not a happy marriage.
Another experienced body said we found that out, we gave up, we now screen capture the swf movie and convert to avi and play that. So we try that now, but the trouble is the Camtasia prog we have tried makes an avi that does not play on other users PC's unless they have a Techsmith codec installed. We need something that involves no further effort for the client. We convert to wmv but the quality is not so good and vehicles are jerky.
What should we be doing to get three swf files to play correctly in powerpoint ?
We created a reset movie button and play button and the user must remember to click reset before progressig to the next slide, if they forget then the presentation gets embarrasing ! Pupils get to see the answer before the question as it were !
The coding for the buttons also messed up the animation, it ran the last frame of the movie clips.
I understand its Microsoft not wanting to play ball with Adobe. Also Apple mov files dont play. Windows video files do.
I reckon Adobe and M'soft should get round a table over this. The headaches and time spent trying to resolve this is not on !

Is sg 200-50 interface completely compatible with any particular browser?

Is there a recommended browser for this switchbox? I have the latest versions of IE, Google Chrome and Firefox. The results I get trying to use them is as follows:
1. IE 11: Can log in, but text is missing all over the place.
2. Firefox: Cannot log in. Just get a spinning icon over a partially-formed login screen.
3. Chrome: Can log in cleanly and no text is missing. But it's still not fully functional. I'm trying to modify settings in administration -> discovery LLDP -> port settings. When I highlight an entry and click "edit," nothing happens. This is not a pop-up issue -- the "copy settings" pop-up works.
So I seem to be effectively barred from making the modifications that I want to. Does anybody know of a browser that completely works with the Cisco interface in this switch?

thanks for the explanation, that cleared up my understanding.
The problem is that the switch is not even forwarding packages from the router via 33:33:00:00:00:01 to the connected clients (which of course breaks IPv6 configuration). Now, I think the router is not even sending (correct) MLD queries (after all, its mostly specified for home-use, but also often used in small businesses around here).
The SG 200-18 maybe just works because 33:33:00:00:00:01 appears to be in the MAC group table by default for this model and then appears to learn the other groups by unsolicited client reports.
The SG 200-08, however, does neither have 33:33:00:00:00:01 in its default MAC group table nor does allow adding it nor can learn it from clients, as the clients can not see the router advertisements as they do not receive packages from 33:33:00:00:00:01 first.
The most interesting part is, however, that I can not add any MAC-address starting with 33:33: at all to the MAC group table of the SG 200-08 and I feel this is a firmware bug.
I think I shall live with MLD-snooping disabled on the SG 200-08 for now as this appears to be the only option working in my environment. I might try later to set up a simple, but IPv6/MLD capable software router on a linux machine for further testing and mark this question as "answered" now if you confirm my way of thinking to be reasonable.
Can you recommend a free software for setting up such an IPv6-capable router for testing purposes which I might try out in the upcoming weeks?

Which Keynote fonts & transitions are compatible with Powerpoint?

I've used some jazzy transitions in my Keynote and will export to Powerpoint and play it from a PC. Now I'm told that there might be compatibility issues with the transitions. Can anyone tell me what are the safe transitions I can use in Keynote that Powerpoint will play without hiccups? Similarly, I've used some fonts like Catull and Headline. Will these be a problem in Powerpoint or does it just read off the pixels, not the font?

You will have font problems unless you can install your fonts on the pc. There aren't many compatible transitions, even dissolve may turn into the ugly blocky transition if you have Powerpoint 2003. Pushing a slide to the side may translate. It's just not a good idea to create a fancy presentation in Keynote when you know you are going to have to convert it to PC Powerpoint. You will always create more work for yourself. You can do initial layout in Keynote but any animating, special fonts, etc. you should do in the platform you will use in the end.

Acrobat 7 Std compatible with PowerPoint 2007

I have Acrobat 7 Standard Edition; have used it for years with Office 2003. Recently I updated my PowerPoint 2003 to 2007, and now when I go to convert my 07 PowerPoint to a PDF I get the following message "Missing PDF Maker files" "Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?" I run it in repair mode and it just does the same thing over again. However when I convert any of the other Office 2003 doc to a PDF it's fine, so I am thinking it's a compatibility issue with version Acrobat 7 and PowerPoint 2007, can anyone confirm?

You will have to print to the Aodbe PDF printer. That is your only option, unless you either want to backup to an earlier version of OFFICE or upgrade Acrobat. The first version to work with OFFICE 2007 was AA8.1.2 (maybe 1). Bill

Reader X not compatible with PowerPoint?

I frequently create Microsoft PowerPoint presentations with linked PDF documents. This has never been a problem until the update to Reader X - now, when attempting to open a linked PDF from Show mode in either PowerPoint 2003 or 2007, the PowerPoint application crashes. I uninstalled Reader X and reinstalled Reader 9 and the files open with no problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue and resolved it using Reader X?

Up till now I have not received any notification of Adobe or someone else that this would be fixed. However, I see now on their ftp site that an update is available of adobe X, version 10.0.1 dd 8 feb 2011. However, not all languages are available (yet). Possibly the problem might be solved with this update, but I did not test that yet.

What is the oldest version of Photoshop that is completely compatible with Windows 7?

I had Photoshop CS2 with an old Mac that has died. I currently use Windows 7 these days and will for at least a few more years.
Upgrading from a Mac version of CS2 what would be the least expensive path to get a version of Photoshop for my Windows 7 PC? I don't feel I need the most recent version. Just a version that works well with Windows 7 64bit and would be my least expensive upgrade route. I upgraded my Mac version of CS2 from an earlier version(if I remember correctly it was version 6 or 7), so the CS2 was the upgrade and the earlier version was the full if that matters.
And are there any tricks in upgrading Photoshop from one operating system to another?

I use a toolbar that is not completely compatible with Firerfox 4. How do I change back to the previous version?

The toolbar has a feature that allows me to right-click on certain items and select an option that pulls up a window with information from the companies internal website.
It works flawlessly with the previous version.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Is Lightroom 4 completely compatible with Windows 7, 64 bit systems

LR 3.6 has serious limitations causing what should be an easy task hours to trouble shoot. Exporting original size JPEG images to DVD should be a no brainer but the application was not built to handle MS OS 7 64bit. Choice is to upgrade to LR v 4 but will it work?

To the OP: if by 'serious limitations' you simply mean the lack of a dedicated export preset on Windows 64 bit systems to allow a direct export to a CD/DVD drive using LR3:
1. Agreed, there is no dedicated CD/DVD export preset, but there is a simple workaround. Just use the standard Hard Drive preset and in the Export Location box use Specific Folder for "Export to:", then click on "Choose" and select your CD/DVD burner from the browser window that opens. Simple.
2. I can confirm that in LR4 there is a dedicated CD/DVD export preset.

Keynote is the best presentation tool I ever saw. The problem is with playing the presentations in college or anywhere else.
I know that keynote is compatible with PowerPoint, but how far?
Will the beautiful transitions and animations on keynote work on PowerPoint? Alongside with the beautiful graphics, charts and backgrounds?

I would say the compatibility is "just good enough". If you NEED to use it you will, but you don't want to ever NEED it.
You shoud think of the compatibility as being like trying to playback high resolution, color, widescreen, Dolby stereo content on a small black and white mono tv. There are some things that old telly just won't be capable of. Sure, you can see the motion and hear something, but you're ultimately limited by what you use to PLAYBACK the content, not what you used to CREATE it.
Because Keynote has features that PowerPoint doesn't, PowerPoint will never be able to playback exactly what you see in Keynote. The reverse is true as well.

Canon 450D CR2 Files compatible with Photoshop Elements 7?

I have recently bought a Canon 450D camera and have noticed that the RAW CR2 images produced are not compatible with my Photoshop CS2 version. I'm not sure about upgrading to the latest version of Photoshop since I probably wouldn't use all the features but I would probably upgrade to Elements 7. Is Elements 7 completely compatible with my Canon CR2 files and has anyone else used this combination and been impressed with the results?

The 450D came out after CS2 was obsolete so you need at least CS3 to read 450D RAW files.
Elements 7, being the current version, would support the 450D RAW files; however, I use CS4 and LR2 with my RAW files so cannot say how good PSE is or isn't.
The other option is to convert the RAW files to DNG with the latest free DNG Converter and then use CS2 with the DNGs.
If you have a dual or quad-core system with at least 2GB of memory, I'd suggest using Lightroom.

TTY (Q90D) not compatible with BlackBerry Z10

Please fix this. I purchased a TTY machine (Q90D) for a deaf friend to use and it will not function properly on the Z10. I called the TTY company which makes this product and they concluded I was doing everything right, but that the BlackBerry Z10 (turns out) is the culprit here as it is not completely compatible with the Q90D although the machine is cellular compatible. I say not completely because one time during the test I wrote hello and they were able to read that at the other end, but at no time did I receive any written information/message/text from them. I'm hoping that someone from BlackBerry support will read this and look into this matter for me. At the moment I'm very disappointed as my friend is not able to communicate with his parents who are old and do not have a computer, nor a cell phone. Thank you in advance for your support.
